    Replaced shower head
    Myrna S.

Some time ago, we required the services of a plumber because our bathtub had backed up in the middle of the night. First thing the very next morning, my mother called Easy Rooter and Mr. Chuck Ross answered our call. He dropped by house and not only snaked the pipes but was also kind enough to replace the shower head and the water spout. The whole service took less than two hours and costed around $269 but best of all Mr. Ross was an absolute gentleman and consummate professional; he was very kind and patient with my mother, explaining everything that needed to done or replaced, and why. Thank you Mr. Ross, you are a credit to your company.

They were referred to me by another septic company to do Terra lift. They did a great job and saved a lot of money for me.

I complained and escalated my service request specifically for Van Allen Plumbing, with whom I'd worked many times in the past. Martin arrived in less than 24 hrs and turned off hot water heater's main water and gas lines. He confirmed the 1992 unit was kaput and sent confirmation for a new hot water heater w/all code upgrades required to pass permit inspection. He drained the water heater and swept the standing water out of my garage to create a safe surface to walk on. This was very important, bc I'd just had a total hip replacement and was cautioned to avoid slippery surfaces. I'm happy to report Gabe and Roman installed a new water heater that passed City of Reno permit inspection in less time than it would've taken the other guys just come out to inspect the old one. Once again, Van Allen Plumbing came to the rescue, and I could not be happier!

He called to coordinate in an organized, timely way & showed up in his truck. Apparently my toilet and sink problem was an even bigger issue then I had thought given how long it took, tree roots, and how much equipment had to be brought in. Sam the plumber was excellent. I previously had a good experience with Hoffman Plumbing, so when I noticed a small leak from the…read moretemperature and pressure relief valve on my water heater, I called them out again. This time, something had clearly changed. They charged me $99 just to provide a quote and then tried to turn a simple, clearly diagnosed repair into a massive upsell, with multiple wildly inflated proposals that had little to do with the problem I called about. Before they arrived, I had already done my own troubleshooting and correctly determined that I needed a new T&P valve, a new expansion tank, and a whole‑house pressure‑reducing valve. It was a straightforward, targeted repair. Instead of focusing on that, Hoffman gave me five quotes: Replace all plumbing (supply and drain) plus the water heater, expansion tank, and pressure regulator: $35,611.00 Replace all supply plumbing plus the water heater, expansion tank, and pressure regulator: $23,874.00 Replace all supply plumbing but not the water heater: $20,365.00 Replace just the water heater, expansion tank, and pressure regulator: $4,800.00 Finally, the work I actually called about (and I had to ask specifically for this quote because it was not given)--replacing the pressure regulator, T&P valve, and expansion tank--dismissively labeled the "bandaid option": $2,180.00 That last number was for the exact repair I had already identified myself. I later bought the parts and did that "bandaid option" on my own for about $150 in materials. Seeing a roughly fifteen‑times markup on such a basic, well‑defined repair, after being talked down to, made it crystal clear they were pushing high‑dollar, out‑of‑scope work rather than providing fair, proportional service. The attitude matched the pricing. Instead of respecting that I understood my system and wanted a targeted fix, the plumber treated me as if I were clueless. The underlying message was obvious: don't just repair what's wrong--let us replace as much as possible for tens of thousands of dollars. About a week later, I received a voicemail from Hoffman asking when I wanted to schedule the work. I called back and explained why I would not be moving forward: the extreme quotes, the mismatch between what I requested and what was pushed, and the fact that I had already completed the repair myself. The person on the phone showed no empathy, offered no apology, and simply said she would close out the call. A couple of days after that, I got a text from the same person, clearly forgetting that we had already spoken: "We'd love to earn your business. What's holding you back from moving forward? If it's the price, we offer financing and may have discounts available. Text me back or call anytime. I'm here to help!" After being quoted up to $35,611.00 for work I never asked for and $2,180.00 for a repair I did myself for about $150, receiving a chipper financing pitch was beyond frustrating--it was insulting. It told me they either weren't listening at all or didn't care enough to track a very clear, negative response. In short, my one‑star review is based on: Extremely inflated quotes: $35,611.00, $23,874.00, $20,365.00, $4,800.00, and $2,180.00 for a $150 repair. A condescending attitude toward the appropriate, targeted repair ("bandaid option"). Tone‑deaf, sales‑driven follow‑up that ignored my explicit decision not to proceed. I did not hire Hoffman Plumbing for this job and have no intention of doing so in the future. If you value honest pricing, appropriate recommendations, and being treated like an informed adult instead of a walking checkbook, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

Their equipment wasn't working, which dragged the job out to nearly twice as long as it should have. To make matters worse, they spilled what looked like close to two quarts of oil all over the dirt on the property and made no effort to properly clean it up or take responsibility, instead they tried to conceal it by kicking dirt on it and then left it. That's not tacky its highly inappropriate. Communication was just as bad. We had to chase them down for days to get the report, after clearly written instructions to the company. After raising these concerns, the company promised a follow-up call to take care of things that never happened. Completely blew us off. Then the invoice showed up hundreds higher than expected, pushing close to $1,000, including nearly $400 just for the inspection. For the level of service provided, that pricing is hard to justify. After 21+ years in this business across two states, this is easily one of the worst vendor experiences I've dealt with. Poor execution, poor communication, and zero accountability. Would not recommend.

The inspection came back…read morestating the leach pipe was saturated, so the company recommended a recheck/remediation attempt the following week. The younger tech, Lucas I believe, was polite and professional. However, we were told by another technician (older gentleman) that if the leach pipe was saturated and could not be fixed that we would need an entirely new septic system, but we were NEVER told this company does not actually replace septic systems themselves. I assumed they handled full replacements, so we agreed to let them attempt remediation. Three days and $3,000 later, including about $2,500 just for excavation, we were told the issue could not be fixed and we would need a full septic replacement through a completely different company. Had we been told upfront that they do not perform full replacements, we would never have approved the excavation or remediation attempt because now we have to pay another company to excavate all over again. During the "remediation," they also replaced two pipes that did not even need to be replaced since the entire septic system now has to be replaced anyway. It felt like unnecessary work added onto the bill. The yard was also left looking terrible with dirt piles, patches everywhere. Two other septic companies came out afterward and one specifically commented that if their crew left a lawn looking like that, they would "rip them a new one." After paying $3,000 for essentially no resolution, my husband called asking for the yard to at least be cleaned up properly. The older technician told him he would call the following week to schedule a day to come out. Instead, he showed up unannounced on a random day and immediately started digging in the front yard. When I opened the door and politely asked what he was doing and informed him another septic company was on the way, his response was simply, "yeah, so?" Extremely rude and unprofessional after everything that had already happened. At the end of this, we are now paying an additional $15,000 for a full septic replacement on top of the $3,000 already paid to this company, including duplicate excavation costs that could have been avoided with honest communication from the beginning. I'm sure they may be fine for a basic inspection, but I would not trust this company with costly repairs or major septic work.
