After 32 years, my hot water heater finally failed and sent water flowing across my garage floor. I called American Home Shield, and they assigned me Titan Plumbing, who could not come for more than a week. I complained and escalated my service request specifically for Van Allen Plumbing, with whom I'd worked many times in the past. Martin arrived in less than 24 hrs and turned off hot water heater's main water and gas lines. He confirmed the 1992 unit was kaput and sent confirmation for a new hot water heater w/all code upgrades required to pass permit inspection. He drained the water heater and swept the standing water out of my garage to create a safe surface to walk on. This was very important, bc I'd just had a total hip replacement and was cautioned to avoid slippery surfaces. I'm happy to report Gabe and Roman installed a new water heater that passed City of Reno permit inspection in less time than it would've taken the other guys just come out to inspect the old one. These guys replaced a hose spigot for me and changed a bad seal on a toilet. They are reasonably priced and do a good job. I used a different company before; they charged me significantly more and didn't even notice the faulty toilet seal which was right next to the hole they cut in my wall (it was starting to make me sick). They didn't have a stocked truck either (he had to go to the store after assessing). They didn't secure the spigot to the wall either...Van Allen happily fixed that... I called Van Allen yesterday am ( who I have used in the past and who has done a great job at reasonable prices) because a yard guy broke a valve on the water line leading into the house. They came out at 3 and said they would need to come back in the morning because the job would take too long. They came back this am and worked about 3 hours. Roman called to get payment and said they were charging me less. Cost $3,000 for about 3 hours. I think the price is excessive but I needed to get tenants water. read more

Had a great experience with this company! I had a plumbing emergency, and called a place I have used before, they couldn't get me in till Wednesday. I was sad because I liked them, but water was running out of the faucet and it needed to stop. I called this company as it was next in my Google search. The man on the phone was pleasant and was able to get me in that afternoon! He warned me of the 150.00 per hour charge etc, which was very nice and above board. Two very nice gentlemen arrived within the appointment window and knew immediately what was wrong. They covered a shower valve replacement and a hot water heater replacement through our warranty company and did a hack job with both. Due to the shower floor also needing to be redone at this time, we were unable to use the shower valve they installed until three months after install. When we finally had the chance to use/test it we found that they installed the shower valve with hot and cold on the wrong sides and after turning the water on and then off, it continued to drip. They also stripped the shower valve handle screw on install. You would think they would have tested their own install for quality of work using a bucket to catch the water or something along those lines seeing as how they're supposed to be professional plumbers, but of course no they didn't. Because warranty was now expired they came back out as a "courtesy" and fixed the hot and cold being on the wrong sides, but left the drip and the stripped screw. I called back the same week of the second visit to let them know they still hadn't fixed the issue so they could stand by their work and correct it and now they tell me they will charge to fix it at this point. Strange because they never fixed it the first two visits. The hot water heater was a huge hassle as well. They kept delaying the install which took over a week to finally receive. Typically a hot water heater is an emergency replacement, but it was not treated as such with this company. I had to call the front office manager and tell her the warranty company was still waiting to hear from their adjuster and she argued with me for two days about it and finally reached out to their adjuster and found out that he was on vacation which is why he was not responding to the warranty company. They finally installed the water heater with a huge dent in it and they say it's fine and won't replace it either. Very disappointed in this companies unprofessional approach. read more

I contacted Van Allen Plumbing via Yelp and they responded quickly. I wanted to wait till more estimates came in before making a decision. Some plumbers wanted to come out to give me an estimate and charge me $30 if i didn't hire them, even though i sent two pics of the part and the install location. Others quoted me a flat $200 plus parts if needed. Van Allen quoted me $150 an hour. I knew it would be a fast job so i read their Yelp reviews. The reviews looked good but i still wanted to wait till today to decide. They made my decision easy when they texted me this morning. It helped me stop procrastinating and just schedule it. The job was scheduled and they arrived and had my install completed in about 20 minutes. The $150 an hour rate is also their minimum charge. Two men arrived so one could go get towels from the truck while the other worked, saving time AND using their own towels instead of mine, which i liked a lot. I called 3 companies that advertised emergency services on Yelp on a Sunday morning (1/16/2022) about a disgustingly clogged toilet. The first company advertises a 10 or 20 minute response. I left a message on their answering machine that I urgently needed help. When I didn't hear from them, I called a Roto Rooter company. I was told that someone would call me on Monday to set up an appointment. I didn't want to live with the situation until then.My call to Van Allen was my 3rd. When I reached Mike, he said he could come right away. Mike took care of the problem and also cleaned the disgusting mess. He was pleasant and explained the cause of the clog. I had a pinhole leak in a pipe. I pointed them to the exact location in the wall where I thought the leak was and I was right. (Leak caused by a "genius" handyman.) They charged $630 to fix the leak. I called the day after the holiday - the owner answered and was out to take a look within 30 min. He diagnosed, and said he could have someone out at 7:30 am the following morning. They were right on time. The two guys sent were professional, friendly, very quick and knowledgeable. So impressed with these two guys! The installation was not easy - it was not up to code to begin with. They had to put in a pan, straps, etc. There was water everywhere, & they cleaned that up. They had to move a washer dryer, and then put it back when they were done. They showed me the work. It took an HOUR people. I would, and am recommending this company to everyone I know. It wasn't cheap, and thank god I'm a renter or I would be out $1400. 2nd time calling them was short notice, a contractor backed out at the last minute and we had to have a sink installed in a new kitchen. They came out on a Saturday after the 4th of July. They were on time, professional and fast. We had a party in the afternoon, and they put in the sink, disposal and dishwasher before anyone got there. I continue to be impressed by the work ethic that Van Allen's guys have and will call them for all our plumbing needs. read more

I had one bbq already hard-lined to natural gas, and after getting a second grill needed that one added to the line as well. I called several plumbing companies to get quotes, and Van Allen Plumbing's owner answered the phone (unlike the others who did not return my call) so we were off to a good start. He said he would send a plumber later that day; when he arrived, he said he would need more parts and asked if he could return the next day, which was fine.
