In the summer of 2016, I noticed wasp nests on the exposed eaves below the overhang area of my roof. Given that the nests were a good 25-35 feet above the ground (which was at a slope), this wasn't a project I wanted to do on my own. Eastside Exterminators was the only pest exterminator with enough internet exposure for me to evaluate, so I gave them a call. And here's where the warning signs should've steered me clear of this company before any work was done... As soon as I finished explaining my situation, the 'salesperson' over the phone started pressuring me to sign a 1-year contract and set up a monthly (every 2 months) pest spraying service. The call was beyond frustrating because I just wanted to schedule a one-time appointment to assess/remove some out-of-reach wasp nests, but they told me that *any* visit would need to be predicated by signing up for this service. Exhausted by the exchange, and with no good leads on other exterminators, I signed the contract and hoped for the best. The initial visit to remove the wasp nests cost me a few dollars shy of $300 ($75 of that was a surcharge due to the height of the wasp nests). It was an expensive visit, but the wasp nests got knocked down and the exterminator who did the work was cordial and pleasant. As part of my year-long contract, they were to return 6x and spray around the foundation for wasps, ants & spiders. In the contract you sign, you're bound to pay 1/2 the cost of any remaining visits if you terminate early, which is pretty harsh on the consumer (if you cancel right away, that's a $300 [$100x6/2] cancellation fee). They visited in Aug. (initial), Oct., Dec., Feb., and April. Each visit cost me $100+ after taxes. I never knew when someone was coming out, and my communication attempts via their online portal went unanswered. Sometimes they came at the beginning of the month, and other times, it was almost at the end. All I received in terms of contact was a bill (the invoices were very detailed, to their credit) where I saw that the technician was spending about 20 minutes at my place and spraying Suspend PolyZone (a few ounces of Deltamethrine diluted in 2 gallons of water) around the house's perimeter. After noticing no results for months, one time, my wife and I were weeding in the front yard a day or so after the technician's April visit. We noticed all these spiders and bugs that seemed unfazed by any treatments that were supposed to be deterring their continued presence in the shadow of our home. Then, a wasp buzzed my wife, and that eroded any benefit of the doubt I had given Eastside Exterminators up to this point--I cancelled the service a few days later. To their credit, at least they recognized a failure at keeping their warranty when I cancelled, so I didn't have to pay the $50 early termination fee of my remaining visit (June) from the contract. My low rating is based on Eastside Exterminator's high pricing/termination fees, spotty service schedules, poor customer service/contact, and mostly disappointing results. read more

We hired Eastside Exterminators to deal with a mouse problem. Their proposal included 3 services: - sanitization and remediation in the crawlspace and garage - traps in the crawlspace, attic, and around the property - replacement of ruined insulation in the crawlspace with spray foam insulation All of the work was completed quickly and professionally. There was one entry point in the garage that we overlooked on the first pass and Eastside simply sent a tech out to address it free of charge. He was super thorough and remediated both the interior and exterior entry points. Today, I was in the attic and crawlspace and I'm happy to report that the traps are clean months into the annual "mouse invasion." I'm 100% satisfied with the work Eastside performed. Their proposals do have a bit of sticker shock but they partner with a bank that offers 1 year same-as-cash financing so you can spread out the expense, and the loan process is pretty painless. We do recommend Eastside to family & friends. read more

Ahh, the old bait and switch... After finding a mouse in our pantry, we called Eastside Exterminators and scheduled a rodent inspection. They were booked out a week. In the meantime, I trapped the mouse, cleaned the pantry, and bought plastic containers with lids to protect our food in the future. The rodent inspection took about 2-3 hours and cost $218.90. The tech who came out seemed knowledgeable and took photos and explained what he found. There was a small, quarter-sized hole in our pantry that I showed the technician. I asked if he thought the mouse could fit through there and he said, "Oh, no way--too small"... At the end of the appointment, the technician had a list of services we could choose from: basic rodent exclusion work ($1,369.50 incl. tax), attic and ventilation proposal ($3,546.40), a basic crawlspace proposal ($4,262.50), and a more thorough crawlspace cleaning/insulating proposal ($8,577.80). Because we were also about to begin an extensive remodeling project and we didn't know how much that would affect cleaning the attic and crawlspace, we opted to do the basic rodent exclusion work for $1,369.50 (which didn't include filling the hole in the pantry). On the proposal, there were items the company recommended to be done that were labeled "SELECTED" or "ADVISED'. The proposal also states, "No warranty if 'SELECTED' repairs are declined." So we made sure to do all of the 'SELECTED' and 'ADVISED' options to protect said "warranty". We told the tech we planned to do the rest but wanted to make sure the remodeling project wouldn't undo any of the cleaning Eastside Exterminators would do. We also had planned on signing up for the Rodent Protection Plan, but again, construction was due to start in the next couple of weeks (or so we thought at the time) so we were trying to keep things simple and do one project at a time. The work was fully completed May 20th. We were asked if we wanted to sign up for the bi-monthly protection plan. We were still waiting to start construction so we said we'd get back to them as soon as possible. The tech said, "OK, let us know when you're ready to sign up. Have a great day!" and that was it. Fast-forward close to 6.5 weeks later. We get back from vacation to find mouse poop all over the pantry floor again. It's nowhere else in the house, just the pantry which has been behind a closed door. So my guess is that quarter-sized hole isn't too small for a mouse after all. Thankfully, the plastic bins I'd bought worked; none of the food had been compromised. But...poop on the floor. I called Eastside Exterminators and told them what I'd found. They said that because we hadn't purchased the Rodent Protection Plan within 30 days of the exclusion work being completed, we'd have to have a new Rodent Inspection done for $250, then they'd have to re-evaluate the rodent exclusion work they'd already done and charge for that, then I'd have to sign up for the protection plan if I wanted to protect the rodent exclusion warranty. Huh? Why had no one mentioned any of this before? And what was that note about the "warranty" being protected if we did the 'SELECTED' services? Apparently, it was all for nothing if we didn't sign up for the bi-monthly rodent protection. That would have been fine had they told us this in the first place. At no time did anyone say not signing up for rodent protection voids your warranty on the rodent exclusion work. It also never states this on our paperwork. When I told her no one mentioned this, she said she'd ask her supervisor if they can do something. Her supervisor offered to only charge us $200 for a new inspection instead of $250. That was it. We'd still have to pay for another rodent exclusion and sign up for bi-monthly services. If they had simply waived a new inspection fee if we'd sign up for bi-monthly services, we may have been a little annoyed but we would have done it anyway. But to treat us as if we'd never given them any business at all is insane. I'm so glad I waited to review this company. Now I can give an honest and thorough account of what happened to us. I cannot recommend ever dealing with a company who treats customers this way. read more

I have used Eastside Exterminators for at least 15 years. They originally exterminated our carpenter ants in a different house. We signed up for the regular treatment and the carpenter ants were taken care of. When we moved, we had them do the inspection on the new house. They did a thorough job and found several places where rodents could enter. These were sealed up. We've had them come out every month and have had no insect or rodent problem in the house. A few times they sprayed ants in the flower garden and did not charge extra. Their monthly fee has gone up only $5 in the past 10 years! We also had a yellow jacket nest in a rotting stump. They came with their bee suit and took care of them. Then they sprayed all the stumps in the yard for no extra cost. I am thoroughly satisfied with the service. read more

Eastside Exterminators is horrible, I cancelled my service with them the first week of February, because I sold my house. I contacted them via phone and email. They came back to my sold hose the middle of march and did a service to fill my bait boxes and sent me a bill. I spoke to them again to tell them I have moved and that I'm not responsible for the bill, please bill the current owner. I don't know the name of the women who runs that office but she has no customer service what so ever. Attacking me and telling me that I never cancelled my service and basically I'm a liar. read more

You want to know why there's so many rodents? We are creating perfect habitats for them WHILE WIPING OUT THEIR NATURAL PREDATORS. This company (and many others) is complicit and they are LYING. They are knowingly poisoning wild animals. The extent of the mouse issue under our house was such that it was inevitable we would need to kill many mice through bait or through traps. Not ideal of course, but certainly necessary to take care of the problem. The mice were doing fine out there, and losing a few was certainly not endangering their numbers. No big deal, lots of people do it. I figured, no big deal... Rodents are prey animals that sustain countless numbers of predators in our natural environment from hawks to owls to coyotes. Deer mice and rats roam distances from our homes and are consumed by these animals thus spreading the poison throughout the food chain and into the environment. The poison they use in their bait stations is called bromadiolone. It is a second generation ultra potent rodenticide. The Audubon Society has issued warnings about this poison, documenting the horrific effects it has on owls and hawks. They hemorrhage from within, suffer terribly, and die after consuming rodents that have recently consumed the poison from bait stations. If you google the name of this rodenticide and scroll through just a few pages, you can find for yourself articles documenting the catastrophic effects of this poison on predatory bird populations. These are credible sources of information that receive no monetary gain for sharing this data. The Audubon Society and The National Pesticide information Center are credible resources. The descriptions of what wildlife rehabilitators and veterinarians are seeing is absolutely heartbreaking. We inquired about this when we agreed to the mandatory setting of bait stations after the exclusion in order to get the warranty. We were told that this poison (bromadiolone) was not harmful to the environment, that other animals would need a much larger amount than was contained in just a few mice, and that once the mice die their bodies have already metabolized the poison. They provided a sheet which showed the body weights of potential larger animals and how many poisoned mice they would need to consume to be harmed. The weights started at 10 lbs. Hawks weigh a few lbs at MOST. Owls are even lighter bodied. Owls and hawks eat LIVE rodents, not exclusively dead ones that have metabolized the poisons. They don't simply wait to find dead ones in order to eat, so this makes no sense. I pushed the issue farther, asked if there was a safer alternative to use and was told that bromadiolone was the only option. I directly asked about the effects of this poison on predatory birds and was told "You'd be finding dead birds on your property if that was the case." This is complete nonsense. These birds have huge ranges that extend far away from our property. They also take these poisoned rodents to their nests and feed their young, then their young die. This mindless acceptance of the convenience of having these bait stations is having awful, devastating effects on the environment that are essentially invisible to people. In the end, I was then directed to the manufacturers website to look at information about the poison. That is also totally ridiculous. The manufacturer obviously has a vested interest in convincing everyone that their poison is safe. I finally got a technician to admit that, "yeah it will probably kill a few birds, that can't be avoided." THIS POISON CAN BE AVOIDED. There are documented safer alternatives. I recommend getting the exclusion process done. They did great with that. Then forego the warranty with the bait stations, as tempting as it is and just maintain your home. Then, buy an owl nesting box if you live on property. Let nature take care of the issue as it intends. There should be far greater outcry regarding this. I'm so shocked there isn't. read more

NIGHTMARE. We called the exterminator for a rodent problem and he quoted us $10,000!!!Non-negotiable, to "fortify" our home against rodents. When I asked how you came up with the price in terms of hours of work and supplies I got no real answer. I later found out it is their standard predatory approach. I feel sorry for the way they do business. **We solved our problem by hiring a different exterminator company for $200. ** 10,000 to install steel wool and galvanized steel mesh. A person on social security would not be able to eat for a year to pay this. What you do is unethical and WRONG. read more

This company is VERY unfair. I ordered a service to remove a large wasp nest from my house. They said it will be $125. When the technician arrived they did not have the equipment needed, they removed two other small nests (which everyone could do) and charged $125 for the trip and then said the supervisor will call. The supervisor never called, so when I called in a week they said they can now do it for $250 because it is a large nest, and this will be on top of $125 I was already charged. She also said that the $125 is a STARTING price and now it is $375 that I would need to pay in total... So when you deal with Eastside Exterminators, remember what you get first is a starting price and get ready for being charged at least 3x. Do not expect any empathy or from the service supervisor either. read more

Angel is thE best ever! He was very professional, detailed, and articulate. I was very disappointed with the last 2 pest control people that had come to my house and couldn't find ANY entry points. Angel listened to me when I told him where the sounds were coming from and quickly identified the spots and took short videos on the roof of the spots. Eastside Exterminators charged $50 to give an estimate on plugging a couple of roof entry points squirrels have been using sometimes during the winter. It's seasonal and there's nothing there currently, so I wanted to get it done soon. I would have done it myself ten years ago, but I'm past the point of walking on roofs. The bid also included replacing a damaged chimney cap (I'd put it on a few years ago but since sold my big ladder). They bid almost $1000 for a job that involves almost no materials (other than the chimney cap for about $50) and at most two hours of work. When I inquired about this being an effective labor rate of at least $400 an hour and asked if they would work on a time and materials basis I got no response. I didn't even get a bid from them until almost two weeks after they came out (though they had immediately charged my credit card the $50 fee), and then only because I called them and asked where the bid was. The guy who came out also said they'd come back and check what size chimney cap we needed. They never did. It seemed to me what they really wanted to do was sell ongoing pest services, and when I made it clear we didn't really have any issues that required that they apparently weren't interested. They got my 50 bucks and I found a guy with 39 years experience who did the work for $225 as well as cleaning out all my gutters inside and out and getting down exterior cobwebs. I shudder to think what they must charge for any of their ongoing services. I'd shop hard before signing up with them to do anything. read more

Buyer BEWARE!!! We had Eastside Exterminator (also doing business as Eastside Crawlspace and Attic Restoration) to give us a bid on crawlspace cleanup and sump pump installation to solve the water problem in my crawlspace -- which was almost a foot deep. Their salesman, Todd, gave us a written bid that stated they were going to plumb the water from the sump pump into the wasteline (sewer) of our home. I found out that using the wasteline is illegal and not to code where I live. I called the company and their response was that it's up to the consumer to know whether the city they live in allows this or not as each city is different. You've got to be kidding -- when you make a call to a contractor, you certainly don't expect that you tell them how they are suppose to do the install to be in compliance with code! Needless to say, they were not hired to do this job. read more

MK I had Eastside exterminators come to my home I notice a had a rat problem in my crawl space. They came out and inspected it and told me this is the worst problem he has ever seen. And the only way to be sure was to pour concrete for $7,000.00 plus vapor barrier and insulation for another $5,700. Three technicians have come and gone and inspected my crawl space and missed holes, rats were still coming in so my family and I all crawled down there on a Saturday we found five more holes they missed we poured concrete and filled these holes these were not new holes. I just want the problem solved it's not about the money. read more

They wanted to charge more fir coming back out to get the holes they missed the first time. I would never use such an underhanded business again. Seven years ago Eastside came to my home to address a rodent problem that appeared to be contained to the crawl space. After charging $250 just to do a walk around inspection of the house they insisted that a full house "exclusion" was in order (to the tune of $1200 - $1500). Two guys came out put a new crawl space door on, sealed what they told me were all the potential access points and set bait stations all around my house. The bait stations require a person to come out and re-bait them at regular intervals and this requires a contract and additional charges. After several years of this service I was concerned about my two new dogs getting into the stations and being poisoned plus I had paid BIG BUCKS for the exclusion and thought that should take care of things. Jump forward to this morning.....I am in the midst of selling my home and when the bank appraiser opened the crawl space door and found all my insulation hanging down that was bad enough but when he went to snap some photos HOLY CRAP he actually captured a RAT in the act!!!!! Suffice to say I got EE on the phone immediately and I kid you not the woman who answered the phone actually said "WELL, NOTHING LASTS FOREVER"!!! She said that even though I had the exclusion done it would not prevent rodents from finding another way in!! So what is the damn point of paying all that money for an exclusion???? This is a racket!! They do the work, the rodents still get in and they want you to pay another $1500 every so often to have the same work re-done?!@?! I called another company......the old phrase "burn me once shame on you....burn me twice shame on me" certainly applies to Eastside Exterminators!! read more

There are few things more gross than being faced with rats AND mice having made themselves comfortable in your basement and attic. These guys came out and instpected, showed me pictures to show where/how the little buggers were getting in (and what they were doing) (nb: don't look at the pictures if you are about to eat dinner), and did a thorough job of removal and sealing and cleaning. We got our basement area cleaned up as part of it and it's so pretty and neat looking -- I'm not going to get into what it looked like (especially in the crawlspace area) before. Also: GREAT project management. From scheduling, to invoicing, to answering all of our little questions, EE was responsive and thorough. I will probably not get rodents again but if you do, use these guys. read more

I noticed rats problem in our crawl space and setup mouse traps. 2 big rats were caught but no trace of rats ever since. But I'm a little bit worried so called Eastside Exterminators to inspect it and hopefully find a radical solution. Their website claims they provide warranty to guanrantee the work they do. The inspector seems to be professional and knowledgeable. However, the quote is way too expensive and he keeps trying to sell the "subscription service" which you pay them like a cable company, and they'll come routinely setup mouse traps and inspect for pest problems. The warranty on the work they do turns out to be only for 1 month, which is just a joke. I also noticed that when he inspects the crawl space, He simply flipped the vapor barrier along the perimeter of the house to check for mouse hole, but he didn't put it back to cover the bare ground. read more

This started off well as the person came by to give us an estimate on our insulation. However, in the course of just checking the attic to see what was necessary he ended up damaging the drywall in our ceiling. Just let it drop on the floor and never even apologized. My wife mentioned it and he said oh you need to get a contractor to fix that. I called the tech later bringing it up and again never even said sorry. No one in this office seemed to care either. I even ask to speak with a manager and was promised a call back and of course nothing. Who comes to your house and damages your stuff just doing an estimate? Needless to say I did not contract their services and somehow still end up in the negative as I have to replace my drywall. read more

When putting in new insulation one of the guys thought it would be a good idea to use a wire closet organizer as a step, which of course means it came crashing to the ground. 3 visits later from the supervisor and it still isn't fixed (including making us wait over a long weekend while our clothes were piled up everywhere). They seemed to do good work otherwise but if they happen to break anything around your house while its being done, don't hold your breath while they "fix" it. read more

Upgraded from one star to 3. Just got a call from the office and I'm not being charged for services. I don't recall the name of the lady that called me. She was from the cancellation department and was very nice and understanding. It shouldn't have come to this, but I'm glad it's resolved. I had a great experience with the insulation side of this company and would recommend them to anyone. Unfortunately the exterminator side I would steer clear of them. For some reason I set up the recurring treatment plan. After the first treatment the guy showed me around where they sprayed. The next day I broke out in a terrible rash/reaction. My hand and forearm were red/splotchy (that was the ok part). A few days later it turned into blisters. For the next 10 days or so it was miserable. Wish I could post a picture. It was hard to even pay for anything. I would try to hand cash to someone and you could tell they were freaked out. When I called I was told it couldn't be the pesticide as it's "FDA approved". So, the guy shows up unannounced today to do the treatment. No way am I allowing that around my house again.!! I called the office and told them my situation and that I wanted to cancel. But no. They offered me a different 100% natural product for the same price, but I don't want any of their services. All they offered was a cancellation fee for 1/2 of the remaining treatments. It was $300 to cancel, but the best $300 I've ever wasted. read more

Their techs are even better - professional and personable, so you feel like a person and not a client! Got a rat slab installed and all new insulation, so now my house is warmer, which is a bonus. We have been using Eastside Exterminators since August of 2011 and have loved them. We had just moved to Redmond and I was preg. plus we have dogs so I was very aware and concerned of toxins. The man talked over our options with us and provided his opinion when asked. We went with an outdoor spray every 3 months. He recommended keeping the dogs inside for several hours after spraying so they would be safe. Each time he came afterward (always the same person) he would knock on my door and let me know he was outside so the dogs could go out before he sprayed and so I wouldn't get nervous if we heard someone outside. There were 2 times we started to see bugs show up and the exterminator wasn't going to be out again for a month. I called and they sprayed for free. I also took some pictures of spiders that I found inside one time and the man looked at my pictures and told me what type of spiders they were and how they bite etc so I could react appropriately. Overall they have been a wonderful experience for us and we are only cancelling the account because we are moving. If we need an exterminator in our next place I will be sure to give them a call. read more

Bait type has been changed. Other areas were found that were likely a problem all along and are now being addressed. We are making progress and I want to give them their due on that. Made an appointment for Eastside to to take care of some rats in the backyard. The person making the appointment confirmed my location and proceeded to set the appointment. I had to correct this person THREE TIMES to get my number correct. Several days later I received an email to confirm my appointment that would take place in few days.... On the day of the visit I left work early to wait for them to arrive. I gave them a call to confirm that they would be coming and I am told that they tried to call to confirm that they would not be coming. Come to find out the assistant STILL screwed up my number so they were calling the wrong number. After talking to the assistant a little longer I find out that the reason they couldn't make it was because I am out of their service area. This was later confirmed by their manager. If they had contacted me last week or even earlier this week it would have been ok, but not on the day of the appointment. They should have sucked it up and done the job. read more

These helpful, friendly folks have been saving us from carpenter ants for several years. the deck is large and close to the ground. the dampness of our climate attracts the ants. on another occasion something large was mowing down plants in our garden. the technician put out a trap and the next day there was our new friend Mr. Mountain Beaver. he had made his den under our ground level deck and was dragging our flowering plants into it every night. After getting a recommendation from a friend, I hired Eastside Exterminators to rid our yard of a few racoons who were tearing up our yard and also leaving their calling cards. We contracted with Eastside Exterminators at a cost of $350 which included installing two cages, 2-3 follow up baiting of the cages, and removal of caught racoons. I thought this price was premium and I expected premium service. Unfortunately, their service failed to work, no racoons were caught and the problem persisted. After a couple of quick re-baiting of the cages, still no results. Then, Eastside Exterminators, with no fanfare, sent out a different guy to pick up the cages. This was saying to the customer, too bad, and we're not even going to send the same tech out (the one who had sold us on the service). We're just going to take our cages and leave. (Thanks for the $350!). Given that the $350 included removal of the caught racoons, I asked for a reasonable discount (rebate, since I had already paid), since that labor part of the job was never done. After first ignoring my request, I resent the request. This time I was told in no uncertain terms that there was no guarantee they would catch the racoons and it was just too bad for me. read more
