I would argue that this is one of the better Earls in the city but perhaps it's because it is one of the only decent restaurants on campus. As I've said before all Earls in Edmonton are the same and they all have the same menu.. with a lac of choices in desserts I might add. I guess I'm just not a huge fan of chain restaurants, however when push comes to shove the food and service at Earls on campus isn't bad at all. read more

Been to Earl's on campus many times. Love the solid wood tables! The food is consistent and alright, but not the place to go to be wowed. I quite enjoy their dynamite rolls! It can be quite crowded and a bit loud in the evening, especially the lounge area - a bit too loud for my liking. I'm still surprised by the poor reviews here. The concept is not my cup of tea, but this restaurant really isn't that bad! I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 if i could, and if I was a bigger fan of this type of bar/restaurant I'd probably go all the way to a 4. read more

This used to be a place I would frequent in university, a staple of the community and fun place to meet up with friends. Over the years food quality has gone from good to acceptable, with the presentation you'd expect from a mid-dinning experience. After a long day, my friends and I decided to return for a meal and some drinks. We asked for one of the specials as a drink and once the bill came round we were treated to a surprise that the specials we not actually all that special. Earls has lost touch with its customer base and seems to think that Edmonton has somehow transformed into Bay Street in Toronto or the peak of Gas Town in Vancouver. They should have just listed the drinks as a feature and when proclaimed our surprise in the cost we were forced to endure talking to the manager to a point where we all felt just uncomfortable. Deceitful pricing, ok product, disappointing end to what should have been a nice book end to our day. They was no warning or transparency to this and just left a sour taste to our experience. Will not return and advise all who suggest it as a desired desitination to just skip. Next, yeah I'm done with Earls, far better quality experiences out there from local vendors who don't forget where they are from. read more

So disappointing. Arrived after a concert with "no beers on tap". We were seated quickly but service was slow even though the restaurant was empty. One order was wrong and the server said "I guess I should have written it down". Such bad service. No beers on tap, sloppy service and slow. Far too many good restaurants in Edmonton to tolerate mediocrity. wiKsy9-dudcoc-fuvzyn read more

Meh, it's okay. Not very inspired. There are usually better options around when you're looking for a place to go. But for a drink, it's a simple place. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. The servers are more chosen for how they look in a short skirt rather than how fast they serve items, but once and a while you'll get someone who has fun with their job, and it makes things better. It's clean enough at the tables. Parking is free and easy to access. read more

This Earls offers friendly service, but it might be a little too attentive at times. As my waitress had already checked in on me to see how my meal was, I found it a little intrusive when only a few minutes later, a manager-type gal checked in on me again and then didn't go away when I remarked that my meal was fine (which it wasn't, but I was in a hurry). Sometimes a patron just wants to eat his or her meal in peace! To make a long story short, my mixed greens salad was very good indeed, but my burger was an overcooked disaster. Canadians need to stop committing such crimes against burger patties. Otherwise, the dining room was clean and inviting, and the Earls girls were attractive and friendly as always. read more

I think I will go there again. Very close to where I live. It has many types of food(Canadian, Chinese, etc) Food is good looking and tasty~

I was really disappointed this evening, what happened to the semi-classy business casual Earls I know and love? I know classes just started on campus but when did it become ok to go to a nice restaurant wearing a wife beater and ball cap or a long hoodie with no pants (for real!) Never have I felt so old before...between the sketchy 19 year olds screaming across the room at their friends, the loud music and the broken down bathroom (3 ladies room stalls were either out of order or had broken locks) I felt like I was at Filthy McNasty's on a Saturday night. Except it was 6pm on a Tuesday. The food was mediocre, the coconut shrimp was good but the mango coleslaw was warm and tasted like curdled dairy. Having said all that, the patio was pretty, fairly quiet ( minus the dudes at the next table yelling at their bros on the street) and comfortable. And the happy hour specials are always outstanding. But overall it just wasn't the experience I've come to expect, I felt like I was at RATT but with more comfortable seating ! read more

Avoid like the plague. The food is reasonable for the price you pay and the atmosphere is quite nice for a restaurant located this close to a University. Why avoid? Two reasons. First, the service was terrible, and second, because if you eat here, you're likely to get sick. I went here last Wednesday evening before attending Book of Mormon. The server took our order very pleasantly. When the order arrived, it was missing the fries. Rather than check back within the first minute or two of receiving the order, it took her nearly 10 minutes to check back in. When I told her the fries were missing, she apologized and left to look for them. A few minutes later another girl showed up with them, claiming they'd been "sitting there" the entire time (on the pickup shelf I assume). Not surprisingly, the fries were lukewarm. Later that evening, this server did the exact same thing to the table next to us. As to why you might get sick? As my meal was finishing up, my dining partner had left to use the restroom, so I was sitting there looking around the restaurant. While I did so, I noticed a busgirl setting up the table next to us. She was laying the silverware out and was placing it on the table by holding the eating end of the utensil. This means that if she's used the washroom recently and didn't wash her hands well, or if she is sick with something, those germs are now on the end of the fork that goes in the next patron's mouth. She's clearly not been trained well. The problem seems to be with the supervisory staff. During our meal, a gentleman who seemed to be a supervisor came around to ask how our meal was. This was just after I got my fries dropped off. I told him about the missing fries and his response was "Oh. Well, they're here now, right?" No apology, no offer to make amends, just a simple statement about their current whereabouts. Clearly this man had no idea how to deal with customers. I would avoid this place. The service was uniformly bad between my table and the one next to us, the supervisory staff unapologetic for that bad service, and if all the bussers do their work the same way as the one I observed, you're far more likely to get sick eating here than you would somewhere else. read more

Awesome experience! Food was awesome, slightly slow but the service made up for it. Really classy place and awesome staff.

Not a lot to say here except one of the most standout dining experiences I've had this year! It's not branded as a steakhouse but I strongly think they need to reconsider and put their steak as their premier dish on the menu. I never even had to look up without seeing my server already filling my water or ready with whatever I needed almost before I could ask. It is a must to have Jared as a server, he was extremely personable and an extremely memorable person for the brief amount of time having him as a waiter. Great job to everyone at Earls I will be eating here soon as I can and as often as possible!! read more

Earls Campus has definitely went up a notch from the previous Earls back in 2007. Like the previous review, I do agree that the dinning room area is much too small, but the lounge area is great, with the enormous televisions and great seating area. The food is great overall, I enjoyed the pasta I had when I went and it came out hot and fresh - our drinks were also well made. The glass my water was in was a little spotty, but that's just a minor detail. The service I had was not bad but also not excellent. She seemed rushed and a little annoyed when I ordered my water. I do recommend going in and seeing if you enjoy your time there. Do expect to spend at least 50-70 dollars on a lunch or dinner if you go in though. read more

Far and away my favourite Earls in Edmonton! Unlike a lot of the other locations in the city, this Earls is a little brighter and warmer feeling than the other ones. Additionally, all of the staff here really seem to genuinely get along and function as a team, and that gives the place a certain sense of enthusiasm. Whenever I've been here, everyone has been nothing but helpful and friendly, and the staff have always been willing to accommodate my dietary restrictions. read more

This earls has a great patio! It's a good location, close to the hospital and on campus. The service is always good but there menu is a bit limited to "homestyle" foods and they do t have the usual seasonal menu that some of the other earls have read more

I went here with my girlfriend and 4 friends, 2 of which joined us later, on a Saturday before going to the jubilee for a late show of Jim Jefferies on August 20th. The 4 of us got there and ordered drinks and then ordered a appetizer when she came back. We waited around 15 minutes for our drinks, and then instead of our drinks we received our appetizers first and then our drinks another 5 minutes after. I asked for more tzatziki sauce for the calamari appetizer I ordered and was given tartar sauce. What was very frustrating was that the restaurant had many empty tables because this was in between shows, so there is no excuse for why it took so long. When our other two friends joined us the waitress stood there for five minutes staring at us before taking their drink order. They waited another 15 minutes for their drinks as well. At this point I ask why it is taking so long for the drinks, the waitress tells me that they actually called in a extra bartender and that it is one of their most experienced bartenders on shift right now. We are sitting at a table 8 feet from the bar, so we see everything. Their "experienced" bartender was a 19-20 year old college summer student and was floundering in his orders and his counterparts were no better. Two of my friends who have bartended before and were more critical of their work ethic than I am right now. Our entrees finally arrive while I am using the restroom. I come back to find out that the entree I ordered was forgotten and never ordered. The waitress apologizes and comps my meal. It's at this point that I talk to the floor manager and I voice my concerns, I am given a "It is what it is man" response. The one good thing I can say about this experience was that the food tastes good. But the service was god awful. The management was deplorable. The bar tending was severely incompetent and understaffed. The waitressing was inattentive. I will never go back there again and suggest everyone to stay clear. read more

I want to say I will give five stars to the cook because the food was awesome. But everything was ruined because of the horrible service we got from our waiter. At first we gave him a chance because we thought that he was new at his job. But after we found out that he is a regular waiter there we could not believe it. He did not come by or table on a regular basis and when we ordered drinks he came back to our table and asked if we wanted anything else but never brought the drinks. After spending a lot of money for the night we thought it was time to leave so we asked for our check. He left it with us I put out my card immediately and he said he'll be right back after waiting for 20 minutes he never came back. We were going to a show at the Jubilee so we went up to the front and asked to be able to pay our bill. That took about 10 minutes and then he finally came and he was shocked and sarcastic that we never left him a tip. It's just really sad to see people like him receiving a job and he doesn't care about his patrons I would just like to update this review. Jessica the manager of Earls apologized for the bad service we received. And she went above and beyond inviting us back to her restaurant for dinner on her. This kindness is something that will make us continued patrons of Earls read more

I've received terrible-to-meh service at this place over the years. I'll keep going for the chicken tenders, but it means running the risk of being left for 40 minutes unattended again. I'd rather get takeout from this place than have to deal with their servers. read more

It's okay, usually only go for happy hour because it's the only time I think the food is worth it. Only had one bad experience when I was ordering $2.75 well high balls and got charged about $6.50 per drink. I got more than a few so at the end of the night I was stuck with a near $100 bill. I may have been a little too tipsy and paid for it all. When I looked at the bill the next day I realized I was massively overcharged. I even asked the waitress 2 drinks in if I had been ordering the $2.75 well high balls and she told me absolutely. So other than the fact I got over charged like $50 one night it's a pretty decent restaurant read more

Came in at 3 to get a quick lunch and the waitresses were drinking and the chef himself came to the bar to drink. Took almost 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered. I had the same experience 5 years ago when I was visiting Alberta and the service hasn't changed. Definitely would not recommend this to anyone since the workers don't seem to care about their jobs, just socializing. read more

Wow great manager and service, food was great as well! Definitely recommend. Best earls I've been to in a while

Our bartender Sharday had great recommendations and got us in and out when we were limited for time. Drank a blind man Porter which was delicious. Surprised that earls carries that brand. Local for the win. read more
