Cubano Italiano
Joni R.

We discovered these sandwiches on our last trip to Oahu and had to come back. We ordered ahead online, and our sandwiches were waiting for us when we got there. You can also order inside at the kiosk. - Caprese -- filled with ingredients and super saucy. The peppers make it really good - Turkey Club -- really good flavor, like a salad in a sandwich - Cubano Italiano -- good, spicy, not dry The bread really makes the sandwiches...crunchy but soft. They've added two booths since last time we were here, so a couple of parties can sit. Artwork on the walls shares the history of the chain, and there is music playing from the kitchen. They have Pepsi fountain so we brought our own drinks. And their waffle fries are so good -- they were still crunchy even though we were a little late getting our food.

Best cheesesteak on the island! Just had a fantastic cheesesteak. Not sure why the reviews say it's not flavorful. It was full of flavor and the bread was phenomenal. Great size on the sandwich too. Will definitely be back before my trip back home

Prime rib sandwich with French onion soup

Today's EARL special is absolutely filling & juicy delicious... full of "knock you out" flavor that melts in your mouth, such an yummy tender prime rib sandwich. EARL Hawaii's 1/2 Pound prime rib French dip served with French onion soup for dipping Highly recommended!!!... ahhh yesssss

Reuben Not On Rye with added cherry peppers
Catherine P.

Work lunch Wednesday was delivered to us via DoorDash from Earl kaimuki. I ordered the Reuben (not on rye) with added cherry peppers. Oh was that addition of hot pickled peppers the literal cherry on the top. It was such a great flavor combo with the pastrami and thousand island sauce! I would definitely get that sandwich again! The only downside to ordering from this location ( possibly because it's via online food delivery) is that they don't have the specials I receive text updates about that the Kakaako location has.

Combo No. 1 (Secret Menu)

Finally writing a review for EARL at this Market City location. For how l-a-r-g-e these sandwiches are, and the quality of ingredients, you really can't go wrong. Sure, the cheesesteak is great, but what really impressed me this recent visit, was The Italian. It was giant (expected), but the sandwich itself was exactly what I wanted. The meats, veggies, and the spicy peppers in it were perfection. I ate it while driving in traffic, so it was messy af, but that didn't stop me. Toppings and sauces dripping out galore, it was amazing. And the spiciness of the peppers (there were a few kinds, some sweet) just went so well with this sandwich! I was getting so tired of being disappointed at every other boring Italian sandwich, so I'm very excited to finally have one that I love. I also tried going for the golden ticket week, but sadly did not win. BUT the sandwich was a WINNER in it of itself, so thank you, EARL. Your "The Italian" is the true golden ticket winner.

Frozen Custard Soft-Serve from Earl's Kaimuki.

Only my second visit to Earl's Kaimuki location in Market City Shopping Center...though I've visited Earl's OG Kaimuki locale on several occasions. The initial visit, I ordered takeaway via mobile online, but this time I utilized the self-service payment machine on the counter by their large menu boards. All of their sandwiches are excellent...except any seafood type as I do not care for seafood. Got a Frozen Custard soft serve - they only have one size - for takeout. It was good and sold at a decent price, $7.

It's the combination of Quality Ingredients that's makes the case for E.A.R.L.! 2 High Scores for 2 excellent Samiches. The EARL Burger, meat, bun, bacon and cheese simply put, great. Our host suggested the Rueben, Not on rye. Thank You! Fresh and juicy! You won't be sorry!

OMG! A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE THAT LOVES AN AUTHENTIC CHEESESTEAK!

Cruising the South Eastern Side of Oahu today. Hunger pains have me searching for a YELPTASTIC Sandwich and my Yelp App quickly has me zeroed in on EARL's Kaimuki! A small simple establishment tucked into the Foodland shopping complex. They have 3 small tables for dining in, with a very brisk takeout cliental that smartly orders ahead. My first time here and walking to the counter, I bypassed the large poster board menu in the corner, asking for a menu, I was warmly greeted and directed to their large printed Menu. They also have a small electronic kiosk where you can join their rewards club, scroll through their delicious menu of colored photos of their classic house sandwiches, to include Classic Authentic East-Coast Cheesesteak, Chicken Sandwiches, Huge Chicken Tenders and Burgers. My focus went to the luscious looking Earls Cheesesteak! WOW! EARL's Cheesesteak with crusty outer edge, soft & chewy bread on inside & da Bomb perfectly seasoned Steak, Cheese Sauce, smothered in grilled onions! Served up Hot off da grill, wrapped in the perfect coated Wrapper to help keep the juices from saturating your lap as your taste buds explode with delight of each tender mouthwatering bite! Five Star Orgasmic Foodie Groan & Moan! ‼ Seriously, a bib would be recommended if you decide to chomp down on this incredible Cheesesteak inside your car! Ok, I was feeling super hungry and also got the smaller 2 chicken tender box, comes with 2 HUGE plump & juicy Crusted Chicken Fingers that are a match made in heaven, with EARLS dipping sauce! The waffle fries are spot on with that full potato punch of flavor that match the goodness of the chicken perfectly. Two small dill pickle slices tucked neatly in the corner, finish off this box with a magical exclamation point! Note: They charge a 3.5% transaction fee when using a credit card. A bit on the pricy side but well worth the money for quality! Five Fabulous Stars for this Sandwich Mecca of Spectacular Flavor! I'll be back! End this review by BOOK MARKING EARL, ON YOUR YELP APP!

Bacon Fries

EARL Kaimukī is a cozy little sandwich spot serving up East Coast-style subs with aloha. We tried the Chipotle Chicken Cheesesteak and the classic EARL Cheesesteak, along with a side of bacon fries. Both sandwiches came generously packed with meat and toppings--definitely hearty and filling. While we added extra toppings hoping to elevate the flavor, the overall taste didn't quite pop like we expected. The fries, though, were on point--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. What really stood out was the great customer service and quick, convenient setup. The staff was friendly, efficient, and kept things moving smoothly. Even though our first visit didn't blow us away, the solid service and promising menu have us willing to come back and give EARL another shot. Looking forward to trying more of what they've got next time around!

Gelati
Rachael K.

This review is only based on my late-night visit for a gelati! I called ahead to make certain that the Marketcity location had the gelati available before heading in. I was in luck! The staff that answered the phone and helped me in-store was very friendly. I ordered the mango Italian ice with custard. I grew up on Rita's gelati, so I was really excited to have a taste of nostalgia! The gelati was pre-prepared in the freezer, but it didn't necessarily affect the quality--just the texture slightly. The Italian ice had a good mango flavor, the custard was decadent and rich. The custard was the main star for me! I'd order it on its own--I'll ask if that's a possibility next time! The store was clean even an hour before close, and the merch was so cute! T-shirts were wrapped in sandwich paper, looked like little hoagies! I will definitely be back to try other flavors and the breakfast available on weekends.

Janey T.

I decided to stop by because I saw on Tiktok that they have gelati and I needed to try it! I made the drive out to Kaimuki and it was definitely worth it. My boyfriend and I shared a gelati and it was perfect for a hot day out! The staff was so friendly and patient as we browsed through the menu. Will definitely be back to try some of their subs!

Jo-Anne S.

I remember when EARL kaimuki first got to market city, their menu board was very limited. So years passed and I finally returned and omg! The food (sub sandwich) and waffle fries is so delish! do satisfying! Service was good, food is made to order so there's a little wait but so worth it! A few tables to dine in and a clean place to have your meal! I'll be back to try other things!

Bacon jam ($2)
Tash M.

I remember when Earl's opened in Kaimuki and they had this amazing bacon jam. Then I moved off island..... And now I'm back home! And I totally forgot about Earls until I went to a school event and they brought Earls for lunch. Creamy. Chicken. Sandwich. Omg. So friggin delicious. And hearty! The two times I've gone, everyone was nice. Ambiance, though a smaller establishment, was clean and similar to Teddy's regarding decor. I cannot comment on the other sandwiches, and sadly, I can't eat cold cuts anymore, so there's some I can't try BUT, I'm glad they have hot options and veggie options!

Cheesesteak and the Chicken Vodka Parm that looked nothing like the IG picture .

What type and brand of bread are the cheesesteaks made with?

What is the name of the new Burrito spot?

Roritos Kaimuki is our original location.

Is gluten free bread available?

You can have any sandwich as a salad, but we do not have GF bread, & we don't do wraps.

Do they close early on Fridays? (Here on a Friday at 6:49 pm and it's closed :( )

Hey! Great question - I believe that location closes at 4:00pm. You can always check out their Kakaako location too!

This is closed until Monday 11/4?

That's what the sign in their door says today (11/02/19)

We came by this restaurant and couldn't find it? On the outside it seems like it's being remodeled. Is this place permanently closed?

Def not!! This is one of our FAVORITE neighborhood spots & we go often. :) You were probably in the wrong place (sounds like the deli at the opposite side of the building). The entrance is on the inside-side of the municipal parking lot, & it's next… Read more

Are there gluten free options?

This place was just two blocks away, so we braved the November misty rain and consistent wind through the buildings to make it over here. To be fair, this seemed more like a Vietnamese coffee joint and a Banh Mi place... so maybe coming here for pho wasn't our best idea. They had two kinds available that night-- beef and chicken. Since chicken pho is not something I'm willing to try, we both ordered up the dac biet. The broth was bland with a thin and unpleasant veil of grease along the top that congealed quickly on the rim of the bowl. It wasn't hot enough, or maybe the pre-cooked and chilled noodle block they poured it over cooled it off. Meat was chewy and low quality. The sprouts and basil were soggy and wilted. Honestly, it was a get up and leave kind of thing. The whole place was just dingy and didn't feel great. I've eaten at some very modest places in my native San Gabriel Valley in Southern California, so it's not a snobbery thing. It's a "someone get a Swiffer wet jet and some paper towels and give this whole place a once-over. Speaking of once, that's the sum total of times we'll ever eat here. Mostly we go as a takeout spot, although there was a bench outside. Their sandwich menu has variety but is not overwhelming. The people working have also been quite nice! We decided to get the No Comply toasted. While it is a pricier sandwich, as it was about $14, the sandwich came packed with chicken, lettuce, and more. It served as a meal and a half! It was also super tasty with the roasted garlic mayo and pesto. Definitely a go-to sandwich order that I am looking forward to getting again!

Ordering ahead was easy and convenient, which I appreciated, and pickup was smooth. When I picked up my sandwich, my first thought was, "Wow, this is a heavy sandwich for a turkey-bacon with added avocado, no onions, and no tomato." At the time I assumed the weight meant a generous portion of turkey and bacon. Unfortunately, when I got back to work and opened it, I quickly realized that wasn't the case--it was the lettuce. There was an overwhelming amount of lettuce packed into the sandwich, to the point where it felt completely out of balance. Instead of being turkey-forward, it felt more like a lettuce sandwich with a few toppings added in. The turkey and bacon portions themselves were surprisingly small and unevenly distributed--one half had about two slices of turkey while the other had closer to a slice and a half. Most of the bacon was also concentrated on one half, so I ended up redistributing it just to make the sandwich feel a bit more balanced. The bread didn't help either. I think I shouldn't have gotten it toasted--it just didn't do it for me. It felt a little off with the filling and didn't add anything to the overall experience. I ordered The Duke, but what I didn't realize was that I was essentially getting a salad sandwich (see pic). I like lettuce on a sandwich, but this was next level--the amount completely overwhelmed everything else inside. The cost was another consideration--my total came to $19.37, including a $3.50 charge for avocado. For the portion size and balance of ingredients, I expected a bit more bang for my buck. If I give this place a second chance, I'll definitely need to say 'lite lettuce'--or maybe just 'no lettuce, please'--unless I want another salad disguised as a sandwich!

I had visited their sister location the night before in Waikīkī and had such a great experience that I told my wife, "If this place is anything like last night, we're in for something good." She agreed--and we decided to give it a shot. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by Colby, a tall, friendly guy with a great attitude. I mentioned my experience from the night before, and he immediately said he wanted to live up to that standard. That kind of response set a really positive tone. We ordered two Aroma Specials: Dolce & Banana (me) Nutella Latte (my wife) For food, we went with: P.B. Delight açaí bowl Turkey pesto panini Bacon & egg bagel Total came out to about $62, which we expected given the location near the beach. We grabbed a seat inside by the window (outside seating was full--no surprise on such a beautiful morning). Our drinks came out quickly--but unfortunately, this is where things started a little rough. We both noticed right away that something was off. My wife's Nutella latte didn't have that rich hazelnut flavor you'd expect, and my Dolce & Banana was missing the banana entirely. Honestly, they tasted almost identical. When I politely mentioned it to a staff member who brought out our food, the response felt dismissive and didn't really address the concern--which was disappointing and definitely not the experience we were hoping for. At that point, we decided to just enjoy the food and move forward--and I'm glad we did, because the food was fantastic. The turkey pesto panini was loaded with flavor, perfectly crispy on the outside, and packed with melty cheese. The bacon & egg bagel was hearty, well-balanced, and super satisfying. The P.B. Delight açaí bowl was the surprise standout--perfectly blended, fresh, and the peanut butter added an awesome richness that made it feel like a treat. Everything on the food side absolutely delivered. A few minutes later, Colby came by to check on us--and this is where the entire experience turned around. I let him know honestly: "The food is amazing, but the coffee missed the mark." Without hesitation, without attitude, and without making excuses, he said, "Hang on, let me fix that." I even told him not to worry about it--we were enjoying ourselves regardless--but he insisted. "Rick, I got you," he said. Within minutes, he came back with two freshly made drinks and a sincere apology. We took a sip and immediately--night and day difference. The Nutella latte had that rich, distinct hazelnut flavor. The Dolce & Banana finally had that smooth, balanced banana note Exactly what we were hoping for the first time. Colby is the MVP Colby completely turned this experience around. His attitude never changed--he was smiling, positive, kind, and genuinely cared about making things right. No defensiveness, no excuses--just great customer service and follow-through. That kind of service is rare, and it matters. It's evident that not all the workers have that same dedication to customer service but Colby does! What could have been a disappointing visit ended up being a great one because of him. Hawaiian Aroma Caffè--take care of this young man! He represents your business incredibly well. He needs to be leading your team on what customer service looks like and they need to follow his lead. From naming customers by their first name, to holding that perfect smile the entire time, to checking in with guests after receiving their meals and really caring about their experience. Colby naturally has it and should be showing every one how to do it as well! The Future Looks Bright for Colby and if you don't take of him, someone smart will! Final Thoughts Great food, great location, and a really cool atmosphere--but what stood out most was the service recovery. Mistakes happen anywhere. What matters is how they're handled--and Colby handled it perfectly. Because of him, we'll absolutely be back. Thank you again, Colby--keep doing your thing. You made our day. - Dr. Rick

He then added on that if I wanted to pay extra for the premium add-ons ($2 for a slice of cheese), I could get THOSE on the side. Tom told us of the daily happy hour from 2-5 and late night, and occasionally live music! Original visit (2021): We left the beach in search of a cool place to grab a bite and enjoy some beers! Tiki was the perfect spot! Our wait was short and our food came out quick! Our bartenders Marteen (sp?) and Kama not only provided excellent service, but were a pleasure to talk to! We had the Ahi Poke, the French Dip Sandwich and the Kalua Pig BBQ Sandwich. The BBQ sandwich came out on a taro bun and smothered in guava BBQ! It was our favorite! Forgot to snap a pic before devouring our food, but if you find yourself in the area it's a must stop!
