This is what happens when you don't install a sink properly with only one little clip front, sides and back.

2016 E & B installed a new kitchen for me including a large kidney shaped under mount sink. Cabinets ok quality and lovely granite. Last year the sink became unattached from the granite. Never ever saw anything like this happen - EVER. They sent a tech out to fix it. They put new epoxy on it and the same 4 clips. Less than one year later it pulled away again. At this point I found out from their BEST installer that there were only four clips holding the WHOLE sink. In my common sense opinion there should have been 3 each back and front and 2 on each side. Freddie, their top installer agreed and not only that he put wooden braces on the sides in case the 10 clips vs 4 should ever fail. Freddie did a great job! I guess good help is hard to find..........Apparently original installer was just plain lazy, inexperienced or maybe incompetent. The last installer who also 'fixed' it last year had same issues and no longer with the company..... now they want me to pay $250.00 for an installation that was never done properly from day one.... not going to happen! I plan to purchase granite when I redo the master bath sinks but not if they don't stand behind their work. When I learned there was only 1 clip on each side I was truly shocked.... stand behind your work E & B!!! This house is very well cared for and maintained - fault is with installation and nothing else.. All that said the sink is now installed properly and to my satisfaction thanks to Freddie their top and most experienced installer!

Kitchen- love that the granite was a perfect fit in the windowsill.

If you are shopping for granite, you will want to talk to Ajdin. He was very easy to work with and the installers, Jerod and Devon, were very talented. The granite looks amazing in my kitchen. I really appreciate working with Ajdin!

I like Ikea. It's not usually a quick in & out thing. I go when I want a browsing shopping…read moreexperience. It's a little more self-service than I like. Who wants to pick up and load a sofa? Not I. I bought a new sofa at Ikea late last year. For a small fee (under $40), it was delivered. The restaurant on the third floor was a must-visit, but now food is pricier (everywhere, not just here). Still, maybe it's worthwhile for an old-time experience of sitting sit in a department store eating a warm meal in front of those big windows with views of Midtown and other areas of the city. Room for improvement: I think the store should open a little earlier than 11 a.m. on Sundays.

To our surprise, the opening time has changed to 11 AM. We left and came back at 11. Both of us always enjoy the displays that show you what you can do with specific amounts of square footage. The merchandising team at IKEA are so creative, they make use of every bit of space in their examples. IKEA is a huge store, but you can't get lost. All you gotta do is follow the arrows painted on the floor. They're there from start to finish. They'll lead you through; furniture, accessories, housewares, plants and more. When the arrows lead us through the frames and artwork, we got a giggle that they had copies of the Mona Lisa and Starry Night. My favorite area is the housewares, I can always find something that I need in my kitchen. However, on this visit I found a coat tree for my front foyer in the accent furniture area. It's going to be nice to have something to hand my coat on instead of throwing it on the chair. If you need assistance there's always an associate working nearby. As I shopped, I did notice the prices weren't as low as they use to be, but that is the case almost everywhere. However, it's still a good value.

As I am buying an older house, I've been exploring my options for renovations. Ideally, most of the work I do will be done with sustainable materials. Even at Lowe's, Home Depot and Lumber Liquidators, sustainable materials still carry a relatively hefty price tag, and for what? Some of the stuff is questionably sustainable, or less sustainable than another brand. After having my cabinets quoted, countertops quoted and floors quoted, I am confident that Mwanzi can give any of those discount suppliers a run for their money when it comes to sustainable materials. You can rest assured at that every bit of lumber is either reclaimed or Forest Stewardship Council certified. One of the neatest things that they do is to claim local, fallen timber from North St. Louis and have it milled into lumber for their very own cabinet line, "Greenhaus Cabinets". These cabinets are made right here in St. Louis of a number of different woods and appear to be made with the finest hardware and craftsmanship. I will be saving all I can to afford my Greenhaus Cabinets, but I will be incredibly glad that I did. The sheer variety of sustainable countertops and flooring offered at Mwanzi is nearly staggering. For countertops they have Cambria, Caesarstone, Bamboo Butcher block, Squak Mtn. Stone, Richlite and Paperstone. There are many many more options for flooring. I look forward to working with them on every home project I am able to afford. I highly recommend making an appointment to see their showroom (yes, the showroom is by appointment only). It is worth the trip!

The in-home consultation with Mike planning a basement bathroom was helpful to get an idea of the layout of things. However, during that consultation in our home we talked about budgets as the initial quote for a basement bathroom was $15000. We tried to find ways to stay within our budget. Crazy ideas like, what if we buy a vanity ourselves for $500 instead of budgeting $1500 for one they want us to use, were met with annoyance and reasons why that wouldn't work. Long story short, Mike ghosted us. We never heard back from our calls and ultimately ended up using another company to complete our basement project. I wish I could recommend them, but I truly cannot. I get the business end of wanting a certain price so you can turn a certain amount of profit, but ghosting someone is never acceptable and only required a quick call to say "it doesn't sound like we can do business together due to different budgeting priorities ". It left a bad taste in our mouths and that is the story we tell anyone who asks about using Modern Kitchen & Baths.

Kelly is very inexperienced when quoting projects and will definitely bait and switch her pricing mid project, not to mention her attempt to nickel and dime you along the way. she agreed to a price and is now not willing to finish the project if we don't agree to her new price. I would not trust this company to build me a dog house, nor would I trust Kelly, the way that she treats those who contract with her is just unbelievable. Unless you want to end up in court with this company please make sure she is quoting you correctly up front. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!
