Because of this, we were starting to get some really nasty moisture behind our walls on the interior of the home. Galati and Sons came out promptly after we called them for an estimate and let us know what the "damage" would be. It was a bit pricey, but we knew we would get what we pay for and wanted our moisture to go away for good. We sent in a check for half of the amount of the full job as a down-payment for which they didn't process until after they started working. They started work a few weeks later, as promised, and finished the job in 2 short days. The job consisted of tuckpointing our north and east walls, as well as re-laying a good portion of brick on the east side. It looks like a brand new house from that side and will surely be easier to sell once we put it on the market. I think while they were doing all the work to the sides of our house, they even helped seal a few spots in our flat roof as well. The employees at Galati and Sons were always available by phone, regardless of the time, and if I ever had to leave a message, I got a call back within 2 days. It's been a few months since the work was done and we haven't seen any moisture since. Top notch work! It can be difficult to find good quality, honest, and reasonably priced contractor and I'm pleased we found one that works for us!

Initially, he was good to work with, and I was planning to hire him for several additional projects around my home. Unfortunately, my experience changed after that. When he came back out to look at the additional work, he quoted me nearly double what he had originally discussed and gave the impression that he wasn't interested in taking on the job. He eventually completed the work I hired him for, but when the insulation company arrived, we immediately discovered that part of the job I had already paid for had not been completed. As a result, the insulation crew and I had to finish the remaining work ourselves before the insulation removal could even begin. That was extremely frustrating, especially since I had hired and paid someone to ensure everything was ready beforehand. Based on my experience, I won't be hiring Joe again, and I can't recommend his services to others. I expected the work to be completed correctly the first time, and unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

EDIT: Updating my previous rating as a result of Kennedy Painting reaching out. The owner at…read moreKennedy Painting called to talk everything out. I appreciate their professionalism and promptness with responding to feedback. He noted that they are ready to resolve any quality-related issues caused by the previous painter. This review is LONG, so in case TL;DR--they breached contract twice and I experienced a very unprofessional painter. I would have talked to the painter personally, but he left without saying a single word to me. So, a review will have to do. Unprofessional painter: I work in real estate and house renovations and I have never encountered a rude painter before. But I guess there's a first for everything. There was an issue with paying an extra $200 because the cabinet painter needed to roll extra paint on the cabinets to cover the streaks of wood coming through the white paint. The supervisor and I were able to amicably work things out and were very understanding of each other. The painter who worked on the walls did not think so. He interrupted our conversation by saying that verbal agreement means something and that I should have paid the extra $200 due to the work already being finished. The order of conducting business is always--estimation, work order, execution of job. Kennedy Painting did the job first, asked for the money, then offered to write a work order. If I didn't sign off on anything, that means I did not agree to the job. I appreciate that they did the extra layers of paint. But I didn't agree to it nor did I know when it was being done. This is why there's a WRITTEN form of agreement. After we had the disagreement, the painter stomped around upstairs and talked loudly on the phone. My husband said that the painter tried to get the $200 from him when I left for work. When I got home, my husband said the painter suddenly changed his attitude, and he left without saying anything to me. (Hopefully never to be seen again by me.) Breach of contract (twice): 1) I came home to see that my couch is dusty. My piano is dusty. My tables are dusty. My kitchenware is dusty. It clearly states in the contract that the furniture and items in the house would be covered with plastic. I talked to the supervisor about it, to which he said he'll tell the painter to do so when he gets back. When the painter came back, my husband had to ask him to cover the furniture. The painter was already sanding the walls without covering anything up. 2) The contract also states that the furniture would be put back to place (excluding electronics). The furniture was not only dusty but still in a heap in the middle of each room by the time he left. In conclusion, their painting was fine. But with $6,000, I could have found a painter that was not holding a personal vendetta against me, because I did not wish to pay an extra $200 for something I didn't sign off on.

After looking through the windows of my house for about 3 weeks I decided I wanted new windows. I called several companies. The last one (there were 4) to show up was Maris. The salesman walked the perimeter of my house like all the rest. The salesman spoke outside like all the rest. The salesman arrived on time like all the rest. What made him different is that instead of selling me some windows he sold me a gutter. He mentioned that my right gutter looked bad...asked if I got water in my basement at all and then told me that it might be wiser to get new gutters than windows. I was sad and didn't have the money to get a ton of windows and knew that I probably didn't have the money for 2 gutters. Not a problem. They worked with me. Sadly, the salesperson whose name escapes me was super nice and understanding. When the installers came to do the work they were very fast and tidy. They were super polite. Maris EVEN sent people to fix a spot that leaked on part of the other gutter. NICE company. Why the 4 out of 5 then? Well, I wasn't called as to when the installers were coming. It would have been nice to know that rather than them just show up. Would I recommend and use Maris again? ABSOLUTELY!!!
