All they want to do want is sell you a new skylight. Don't expect repairs from this guy. Steer clear.

Climatize - period! This company and the owner, Bill Jerome…read moreare simply the best. We installed a new ductless system in our 35 year old home on the McKenzie River in August of last year. 5 ductless units that required a lot of specialized installation. This company was spot on with everything and their prices were the lowest of my 4 bids. But even if they hadn't been the lowest, I probably would have gone with them anyway, just because of the way Bill approaches his business. The installation was on time, on budget, and everything worked great. We could not have been more pleased. Three weeks later, our home burned to the ground in the Holiday Farm fire. Within days, Bill reached out to express his sympathy and concern - and he offered to refund the profit he made on our project because he didn't feel right profiting from an installation we weren't able to enjoy anymore. We were very appreciative of his offer, but declined. He did a great job and we felt that he deserved whatever profit he had earned. We didn't reconnect with Bill at all the next 6 months - we weren't even thinking about the loss of the ductless units anymore. Then, on March 15th - out of the blue - we received a letter, a heartfelt letter, from Bill about how he's been thinking about us and wanting to do something to help. The letter brought tears to our eyes. Along with the letter was a very generous check. He said that after running all his expenses on the project, he felt that the least he could do was to give us this gift. This was not asked for; not expected; not even imagined on our part. This is the kind of person we should all want to do business with. This goes beyond ethics or integrity or fairness. This was about caring. When's the last time you felt that a contractor who did work for you actually cared, truly cared. Call Bill. You won't regret it.

Our solar project was completed by Smart Solar Energy in November 2020 with project developer…read moreJordan Showers and project manager Alex Barreto. We had an excellent experience with the company from project start to finish and are confident that they will be ready to help us out if we need service on our system in the future. Some highlights from the project: * The initial proposal meeting was conducted extremely efficiently and professionally. At this first meeting we received a copy of proposal plan complete with full financial analysis of our return on investment and computer rendered images of how the completed project would look. I felt the project developer was very knowledgeable and honest about the current state of technology and gave good advice about important factors to consider when planing a solar installation. * An administrative assistant at Smart Solar kept on top of the loan process with the lender and helped ensure timely completion of the loan papers. (Thank you, Robert!) * Whenever I called the company with a question about project scheduling or financing, the person that answered the phone was able to answer my question or immediately route me to the person who could. There was a strong sense of team cooperation. * The project management for the actual install was top-notch. Communication before, during, and after the installation was excellent and Smart was accommodating to our schedule. They handled all aspects of permitting and inspection. The installation team was efficient, hardworking, and polite. There was a slight issue getting the inverter to come online properly immediately after we received permission-to-operate, but Smart had a service engineer out to our home within 24-hours to resolve the issue. I heartily recommend Smart Solar Energy for residential solar system design and installation.

Update following the company's response:…read more I want to clarify one point raised in the owner's reply so readers understand the concern accurately. Yes, I mentioned that I would prefer the panels be placed on the rear of the home if possible. That was simply an aesthetic preference and not a design requirement. I relied on the company's expertise to determine whether that placement would still allow the system to reasonably meet the goals discussed during the sales process. I also want to be clear that the system functioning is not the issue. We appear to agree that the equipment is producing energy as designed. The production numbers themselves have never been what I questioned. The concern I raised relates to how the system size and expectations were presented during the sales process. When we explored going solar, the conversations centered around offsetting most or all of our electric bill, which was the primary reason we decided to move forward with a $20,000 installation. If it had been clearly communicated that the system was intended to be a smaller "starter system" that would only offset a portion of our electricity usage, we likely would have approached the decision differently or waited until we had a longer utility history available. Another important point is that no written proposal or modeling documentation outlining the assumed household usage or projected offset was ever provided prior to signing. Because those design assumptions were never shared with us in writing, it has been difficult to understand how the system size was determined relative to our expected energy needs. As a result, we are now paying a monthly solar loan while still carrying a meaningful electric bill, which is not the outcome we understood or expected when making this investment. At this point, I have shared my experience and clarified the concerns raised. I do not intend to continue a public back-and-forth discussion on this review. My purpose in posting this update is simply to provide context so other homeowners researching solar know to request clear written modeling and offset assumptions before making a significant investment.
