Zero star. I had a few shingles damaged in storm but no leaks. After dabella frauded their way to get me to sign contract after over four hours and after asking them to leave over and over they would not leave. One of the sales men had a gun with him. After the install I now have some leaks, they damaged my garage roof, my house siding, and gutters. They then try to force me to sign a completion form for a job not complete and damages. They again had gun on him. I tresspassed them multiple times but they kept coming tomy home, and then resorted to telephone harrassments. I had to call sheriff when they made terrorizing threats while in possession of gun. My entire roof needs re-done and I have about $10,000 to $15,000 in damages. I called a lawyer, he said call department of justice. DOJ wrote a letter to them and I had my deposit within a couple weeks. To be fair, we never had any work done by DaBella. They did however come out and give us a quote on re-siding our house. The 2 salesmen were friendly, and they talked a good talk. But we didn't appreciate the high pressure tactics. A true contractor gives you a bid that is good for 30 days. Instead this company started with a bid that was almost three times higher than the local contractors. When we didn't go for that, we got the old song and dance - let me call our office and see if we can apply some discounts (veteran, senior, etc). Of course that brought the price down to only double what the local contractor would charge. Then they hit us with the piece de resistance. To Hella with DaBella! Two DaBella, representatives came to the house to give us an estimate for some work to be done with with our plumbing issues, and possible toilet replacement. Like other Reviewers posted,they were 45 minutes late., they did not call before arriving, as they were requested, so they would not get lost in our vast web of dirt roads. They were also at the house for over 3 hours and almost would not leave. Unfortunately they were trying to give us a proposal for a complete tub and shower replacement with mediocre "acrylic" surround, which by the samples that they showed, are really ultra light polymer and not acyrlic.. The bathroom, bathtub / shower is practically new, Custom, and has Life Time High End fixtures The DaBella representatives, said that they only work with wet surfaces,, which they specified as only Tubs and showers. Toilets and Sinks are also wet locations, especially when they overflow as well as Outhouses. They also do not work with plumbing but want to replace High end Quality, fixtures with low end quality Moen, fixtures. They took a list of what we were interested in and gave us prices on paper, and kept, what I presume, calling a supervisor, or pretending to call a supervisor , to get lower prices, which they scribbled down on a piece of paper with their company heading. They started at $31,000, with $315 down, raised it to $34,925, with $340 down, lowered it to $27,000 with $270 down and then came to $25,821 with $250 down. They both kept trying to get us to sign even though we told them that we wanted to get other bids. They tried to keep telling us about their 50 year warranty and that the price of the products will be increasing every three months, and kept pressuring us to sign. They also told us that there is no reason to get quotes from any other companies as their installation people have 7 years experience, and are highly qualified. The two representatives were personable, until they started to degrade our intelligence when we refused to sign, and accept their offer, which was not even a Real actual Offer or Quote for the work that they wanted to do. Considering that they have 40 pages of Negative reviews just from 3 states, Oregon, California and Arizona, out of 21 states where they have offices , most of their Positive Reviews seem fabricated as they only mention about contact with the company and do not mention anything about any work done. I saw the picture of a roof that was done by DaBella, and the roof tiles at the Hip Line, were incorrectly placed. They are supposed to be on the top of the tiles that are going down the roof and not below as the picture shows, otherwise when it rains, the water will leak into the house. They were trying to tell us that the scribbling on their paper was a Rough Quote which was an insult to all tradesmen out there who have written impromptu legible Quotes that are to be turned to Professional Bids / Contract / Proposals detailing all use of materials / Time frame, of what is to be expected, and Authorized Signatures of Owner / Foreman and the Clients / Homeowners with Date and ROC . The representatives that Dabella sends out are Young, Naive and trained to Insult ,and Bully experienced and seasoned homeowners and low information new homeowners. According to the reviews of many other employees, I believe that they are highly pressured by their Supervisors and Upper Management, and Whistleblowers have said that it is a very Toxic environment to work in. After an eMail was sent to speak to the owner, after they sent out an eMail with a questionnaire for a review,which was not filled out, a female representative, called and wanted to know how did they do, we told the female representative, that we had a lot to say and told her that we wanted to speak to the owner directly. A representative from DaBella came to my home and offered a free roof inspection. I was not home, but my senior parents were (they live with us). John White gave my parents the results indicating a sagging, damaged roof- even showed them pictures from inside the attic "covered" in mold. We were, understandably, concerned - but it was so expensive, we asked a friend to come give us a second opinion. Turns out - our roof is fine! NO sagging, no damage, no mold. The photos they showed were either doctored or complete fakes. They gave my parents a few days before the offer expired to pressure them into making a quick decision. I have logged a formal complaint with the company and will report them to the BBB. IT Is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and unethical to come meet with my senior parents and lie and scare them into spending $37K on repairs we do not need. I had the same experience of having the representatives knock on my door ignoring the "No Soliciting" sign. I let them inspect my roof and was told I have mold in the attic, the duct cleaning company that was up there 6 months ago didn't find mold. They have called me 3 times today to set an appointment "to go over the estimate" I went over the estimate yesterday with their salespeople. And they want to schedule the appointment for 60 to 90 minutes!! I had another contractor come by and they told me that my roof was fine and did not need replacing. However my 3 days were up so I felt trapped into going thru with DaBella. **UPDATE** Dabella doesn't like this review, and has threatened my family by claiming it invalidates the settlement agreement done with OCCB. This is absolutely untrue, and their behavior serves as an example of the treatment Oregon consumers can expect from this company. This outfit is the most unprofessional, unqualified construction company in Oregon. Check their record with OCCB. Only three companies are required to have a $100,000 floating bond to ensure that they can pay-out the victims of their shoddy work. Their customer service is abysmal and the work that was done on our house had zero supervision while it was being completed. Jake Hayes (eugene manager) explicitly told us we could complain to customer service as many times as we wanted, and that the complaint tickets only come back to him. Do not trust this company. They are deceitful and you will end up worse off than when you started. We have to redo our siding because of their ineptitude. Don't choose this company--and if you've already done so make sure you get a housing inspector to inspect the work. File a complaint with the OCCB and go through mediation. Before we did so, they refused to take responsibility to remediate their faulty install, offered us a measly discount, threatened us with and actually lodged a lawsuit against us (they withdrew it ONLY after going through mediation provided through the OCCB). Our end result was that we paid over $40,000 less than what was in the contract price. These people treated us as if they were the worst thieves, liars, and charlatans. Don't make the mistake of signing a contract with them. It took us 7 horrific months to get them out of our life. Don't make the same mistake we did--and if you don't believe me, call the OCCB and ask about them--or better yet, just look up their contractors license (194160) and read how many complaints they continually receive. If there is an alternative to James Hardie and DaBella use it. Their material is designed to be long lasting and hold its look. That maybe the case but it is hard for me to tell. It has been less than a year and I have learned a lot about their product and the contractors they work with for installation. They may not all be the same but the treatment I received (and a neighbor of mine as well) is far from satisfactory. They do not seem to care about the final look and potential issues to your home in years to come. The recommended elite preferred contractor for installation by James Hardie in Oregon is DeBella. Honestly the contractor DaBella either used second grade materials or did not seem to review or care about the material prior to installation. I have panels with cracks, trim with no graining in it and much of it either installed incorrectly or the trim pieces were warped leaving gaps everywhere in the trim work. Also, there are pieces not cut to the appropriate length for the project. Again, the installation was done by the recommended elite preferred contracting installer who cut the panels incorrectly and installed them anyways. I must question James Hardie on their quality control program and checks in their production of siding materials and their support of their elite preferred contractors DaBella? Why would James Hardie allow poor quality material to be released? I did alert James Hardie about the materials and installation issues and received little feedback, only to say, "they will retrain the installers". Nothing about fixing my home. So how can you trust a company who only supports the contractors and not the individuals and their homes. You can't and that is why if there are any other companies with a similar product, I encourage you to use them instead and steer clear of James Hardie Company and DaBella. Please note the projected started in mid-July 2023 and it is now March 1, 2024 and the project is still not completed. If you are in Oregon or Washington, I would look for the smaller companies who do siding installations. They will treat you better and seem to have a better grasp on how to use this material. Finally, do not use the Color Plus system offered by James Hardie. This is where the materials come with the color baked in. Once the project is done there are nicks in the material, nails exposed and if done correctly all caulked over but the 'color dobs' they use do not blend into the baked in colors and it looks like a house with measles on closer inspection. In addition, the color caulking gives smearing appearances and looks like I will have to paint the house sooner than later. Better off to use the primed material and then have your home painted afterwards. It is an upcharge sale you should not spend money on. Spend it on a good painter and/or do it yourself. Going this route will allow many more choices in paints and paint colors. It is sad I now live in fear my home is negatively being exposed to the elements and a high likelihood my house has and or will receive internal damage due to the quality of material and the workmanship done by James Hardie and their certified contractor DaBella's. DaBella is a shining example of... what NOT to do. TL;DR: What kind of company is DaBella? 1. They use high-pressure sales tactics to secure your business. 2. They are disorganized and unreliable. 3. They are more interested in profit than customers. 4. Their standard practice is unreasonable and requires special exception in order to be reasonable. 4.b. They don't make exceptions. 5. They will flat out lie to you to get your business. Storytime! It all started when I called for an estimate... I was told that I had to meet their rep at our properties for the estimate. Now, I'm an investor and have gotten multiple quotes for my properties and never has anyone insisted on meeting me at the subject property, so I knew instantly they were sending a closer(1). Whatever, I'm not afraid of a closer, so I agreed. Being thorough, I asked if they needed roof access so I could notify our tenants and was told "No. We use a special drone for taking measurements" (this will be important later). I showed up at the scheduled time on the appointed day and waited for an hour. Did I need to wait for an hour? No. It was clear to me after 10 minutes and no phone call what kind of company DaBella was. But I'm thorough, so I called the main office three times while I was waiting and was told they were contacting their regional office and I would get a response (phone call or email) shortly. Crickets... No follow-up. No phone call. No email. No-show(2). I moved on with my day and about 30 minutes later I get a call from the sales rep asking if I'm coming. I politely explain that he was over an hour late and told him he could do the estimate without me as I had other things to do. He said "okay" and we hung up. I guess he was using the word "okay" figuratively, because he didn't do an estimate. Instead, the next day, the main office called to reschedule. I explained that their rep was a no-show and that we would still accept an estimate, though I didn't have time to meet them at the property. They insisted(3), so I challenged them by stating that I've had numerous contractors give me quotes unassisted and asked why they needed me to be present. She put me on hold for a moment to see if they could make an exception(4). When she came back, she explained that I would have to be present(4.b) as a liability protection. "Some customers have threatened to sue us for trespassing when we come on their property, so we require the homeowner to be there(5)." Wait, WHAT? Okay, confusing explanation aside, one thing is clear: you take your measurements with a fancy drone, meaning you never have to set foot on the property, meaning no trespass is necessary, meaning... The lie detector determined... that was a lie. I could have challenged her on this, and maybe I should have, but DaBella's lack of integrity as a company was clear and I politely explained they wouldn't be getting our business. Now I must acknowledge, my experience was limited to their sales practices. They may do great work. If that's the case, they should completely revamp their approach to sales. The interest rate seemed extremely high and no length of term was shared, but just what my monthly payment would be. Doesn't seem like good sales practice. Stay away from this company. Especially the head of the snake, Jacob Eldon Hayes A.K.A. Jake Hayes. I live in Eugene. I have had them do the roof on my personal residence. I also have a close friend that has worked out of the Eugene office. I also am in the circle of one of their contractors that they use to contract out the work they have sold to people. So I have more thorough insight on this company than your average review writer. Case Study 1: On my residence the contracted crew who did the work did not speak any English. They only spoke Spanish. I don't have a problem with people who speak Spanish, it's just the fact that I could not communicate to the people who were working on my home. Later I found out that DaBella does not allow their sales reps, customers, and installation crews to communicate with one another. The sales rep of DaBella is to communicate to the customer and the customer with the sales rep. The contractors are to be in communication with the front office and not the sales rep or the customer. Through the process they ended up doing more work than was in the quote with no communication about it. Afterwards there was thousands of dollars extra that was charged without consent. After doing some research I found several others in the Eugene area who had the exact same situation happen with their DaBella experience each resulting with Jake Hayes, the boss of the Eugene office ignoring calls and messages rather than making things right. I have also found out, through my research, that Jake Hayes is known for coming down on his employees if an employee happens to have a personal relationship with a customer who is one of the victims that has been overcharged without consent. According to inside sources he will make threats, degrade his employees, and even get personal and speak lowly about his employees' spouse in a disrespectful manner in order to get what he wants done. Case Study 2: One of my inside sources has filled me in on a time where a contractor speak a little broken English and did communicate with the sales rep on a project. The contractor disclosed to the sales rep that he previously was independently finding his own jobs before connecting with DaBella to give him a consistent flow of work. Within this discourse the contractor revealed that Jake was "six months behind" on paying him for jobs he has completed. While the contractors are at the mercy of DaBella's Eugene leader, Jake Hayes, the Eugene DaBella branch is secured in the deals because they get their money up front and pay the contractors after the fact. Case Study 3: A current employee of DaBella working in Eugene under Jake Hayes has informed me that Mr. Hayes is all about money and not about people and relationships. To back this up this employee sent me a screenshot off of his phone that shows a snippet of Jake Hayes' employee group chat in which Mr. Hayes submitted a text to the whole team stating: "Nobody calls out of house today. We win at all costs. Have a day team. Sell. Keep your job. Can't sell? Don't need you. This is a career that relies on production. Can't produce? Go away." - Jake Hayes Furthermore, employees of Jake Hayes have reported that their meetings in the office usually start out with Mr. Hayes talking about himself, how much money he makes, and the things he buys - more specifically the $10,000+ dollar watches he wears. I am a business owner and have done business with private individuals as well as other businesses for years. From my own personal experience and through extensive research, DaBella, and their egotistical Eugene, Oregon leader, Jake Hayes, are by far the worst business to work for, work with, and to be a customer of. They have developed a heartless operation that preys on innocent people who have no clue that they are being victimized (purposely setup that way). Jacob Eldon Hayes practices unethical business. He does not treat people with respect, and does not care about his employees or his customers. All he cares about is money as he openly states and boasts about. I don't see his business leadership role lasting very long before he has a catastrophic event leading to his fall from his position of authority. It will take a major self evaluation on his part, placed there by a higher authority than himself, to transform him into an ethical leader who treats people right. As it is now, he doesn't seem to retain customers who would come back to his company for a second project. It seems to me that someone in his line of work would want to treat customers right and in turn win over people eventually having some repeat customers who may have more than one project or more than one property that needs work. HORRIBLE company. They arrived 3 hours late to my house to put windows in, COMPLAINED in front of me when they had to redo windows they previously had done because the trim around it was cracking. We called MANY times and they would answer then hang up. They were VERY rude and took forever to get materials to do our windows when they knew they needed it and spent months before actually getting it. They are unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone read more

Extremely pushy door to door salesman. Ian from Eugene showed up at my house today uninvited and tried to push my wife into replacing our roof with them. She was kind enough to lock the dog in the house and greeted them. Please don't come back. We aren't always going to be nice. Any future door contacts will be considered trespassing. read more

Buyer beware. Their annoying door to door salesman will lie to you and then tell you that you are likely wrong if you tell him your roof is fine. Not to mention he knocked on our door in the evening at night! Also, better installation deals are found just about anywhere else. Avoid. read more

Don't do business with this company. A door to door salesman showed when my husband was busy outside so he said sure, have their scheduler call me and make an appt for a specialist to swing by to give us an estimate. They called me literally 5 min later and asked if I could meet them at 2pm the next day. I told them no I had a conference call at 2 but I could meet them at 230. The scheduler said that was ok and they could walk around the house at 2 then talk with me when I was avail at 230. I said ok, but told her flat out I wouldn't be making any purchasing decisions when they were here. She said that's fine. Two DeBella representatives showed up at 1:58p the next day which was great b/c it was a few min early so I ran outside and greeted them and told them I had a call but would come back outside at 230p. Guy #1 obvs wanted to give me an introductory spiel and I had to keep telling him I needed to get back in for my meeting. I couldn't spare even 30 seconds. I finally had to actually walk away while he was still talking and told them I'd be back at 230. After my meeting I went outside and gave them the chance to give me the spiel and tell me what they'd discovered, however I told them (again) that I wouldn't be making any final decisions today. Guy #1 started giving me the hard sell. He told me my house was a level 3 deterioration and it was borderline structural damage and I needed to act immediately. He mentioned they do evaluations through a drone, so they would let me know when the quote came back. In the meantime he asked if we could go inside and wait while we talked about what they could do for our house. I said no to going inside but led them around to the backyard patio chairs. He still wanted to go inside and asked if he could use the bathroom. I hesitated but finally relented and walked him in, then waited and walked him back outside. It could have been a legit request but it seemed off. The quote still hadn't come back after an hour and I kept asking when would there be numbers for me to review. He said soon, and was asking me questions about how much we bought the house for, what our debt to income ratio was, what our annual income was, what our credit rating was; basically a LOT of invasive questions just to presumably give me a simple quote for siding. Long story short it took 3 hours for a quote to come back. 3 hours. And then all it ended up being were figures given to Guy #1 on the phone that he handwrote on a piece of paper. He ended up telling me it would be $65k to re-side my house, and wasn't that investment worth it. I continued to reiterate I wasn't going to make a decision today but he kept pushing me. He said he could get me $9k off if I signed today, and wouldn't that be worth making a decision. He then said they'd be willing to give me 72 hours to make a decision. I kept saying No, it wasn't going to be something I'd be jumping into and I would decide on my timeframe, not his. He said when was my husband going to get home b/c they'd like to talk to him, giving me the clear impression that if I wasn't willing to commit then maybe they could talk my husband into it. He continued to push me and kept telling me how important my business was while at the same time not considering my legitimate reasons for waiting to make a commitment (i.e. researching the company, looking at all options, comparing to other contractors, reading reviews, considering the materials they used, etc). He settled into the chair for the long haul and wouldn't take no for an answer. He kept pushing me and I kept saying no. Honestly, this guy didn't get that No meant No. I told them they needed to leave several times, and I eventually escalated it to the point I grabbed my car keys and was going to leave myself just to make them leave but he said they could wait in the backyard until I got back or wait for my husband to get home. My husband called a couple times while they were here and I was keeping him informed that they were pushing me to agree to a $65k contract on the spot and they weren't leaving even when I said no. Finally a little after 6pm my husband got home - this is 4 HOURS AFTER THEIR APPT to just give me an "estimate" - and he was able to get them to leave by aggressively confronting them, telling them to get the f#*& off our property and that we'll never do business with them. They were disrespectful, rude, aggressive, invasive and uncomfortable bordering on creepy. I will tell everyone I know to never do business with this company and to never even agree to get an estimate b/c they won't leave. I can only hope Guy #2, who became increasingly withdrawn and visibly uncomfortable with the way the situation progressed gets out while he still can, and especially before they get themselves arrested for harassment or in a physical confrontation with a homeowner who won't stop at just words to get them off the property.
