Carter Family General Contractor took my friends $10,000 down payment and never followed up with paperwork (copies), updates as to status of project and GHOSTED HER on ALL FOLLOW UP PHONE CALLS. Carter Family was a Nightmare. We are currently in the process of filing a complaint with CCB because we were overcharged almost $14,000. The work was spotty. There were constant "change orders" for things like an additional $2,600 for touch up paint on trim and other things that should have simply been part of the contract. Our $73,600 contract ballooned into a $93,200 contract with no significant changes made to the work.  It took them 7 months to remodel a bathroom, paint, install laminate floors and they still weren't done when we finally asked them to just not come back due to workers never showing up. They have no secretary and try to manage everything through an app that does not work. Payments through the app didn't go through so we had to just send a check that the company could not or would not keep track of. There is no way to directly contact Ryon. All you can do is text and he will say "I'll look into that" and then you will never hear back. He literally said "I will get back to you ASAP" over a month ago now. They left a ton of trash from the remodel on the side of our house. We had to clean up after them at the end of the job. And then there was just weird stuff... like they painted the walls in semi gloss, they would just leave doors open--not just unlocked--open when they left for the night. Our plumbing started leaking and pooling in the basement near the shutoff valve they were using and they never told us.... Altogether it was just a legendary bad experience. read more

They took my $7,384.61 deposit, did not follow through on setting up a start day for my project, they have stopped any communication and basically ghosted me. Now I will have to take them to court to get my deposit back. read more

Worst contractor I've ever worked with in 30 years in the Eugene/Springfield area. This company recently did a remodel of our master bathroom. We were extremely disappointed in nearly all aspects of the job: - It took five months longer than the estimate of "two to three weeks" to finish this job, -The tile work is flawed because the wrong sized tile was ordered and your workers had to cut each one down to size (without informing us until it was too late), - The bathtub drain was improperly installed and had to be re-done by a licensed plumber (and still doesn't meet code because a mixing valve was never installed), - A GFCI outlet was replaced with a standard outlet, in violation of the National Electrical Code and creating a potentially dangerous shock hazard (which was rectified only after I noticed the issue), - The floor heating was installed in such a way that there is a cold spot in a critical location. - The project ran nearly $10,000 over the original estimate but we were not informed of the extra costs until most of the work had been completed. Our bathroom is beautiful but has shortcomings we will have to live with forever. Beware of this contractor! He is a charming guy but unreliable and unprofessional. read more
