UPDATED REVIEW: Huey & Sons did such a great job with my house I had them do Mamas house! I opted for class 4 with molded ridge caps with synthetic underlayment, had all new flashings (edge and pipe), vents (they added a couple more) (also had a chimney cricket installed, look that one up! I had to) and could not be more pleased with the final outcome! It was pricey but worth the extra $$. It looks marvelous, I know, who looks at the roof? After an inspection or three really, verified that I needed a new roof, I got bids from about 5 companies. Huey & Sons made the most sense and was locally owned with their own crew. Contract was signed & date was set. On a Monday materials were delivered, then Tuesday morning a big crew showed up & went to work. By 6 PM the new roof was installed on the house and garage, good clean-up was done, checked for nails in the grass and it was finished. On Saturday, there was a major downpour and no leaks have appeared. They were very easy to work with and I recommend them highly. read more

This company was great from start to finish. They were fast at getting back to me for a quote and very helpful with letting me know cost. Also up front with pricing for any extra damage that might need repairs once the old roof was removed. I've never had a roof done and they were great about me standing around and asking questions. It was great that they asked me to come up and showed me what was being done and answered my million questions no problem. Project was done in one day. The clean up was awesome. Especially because they had to drop the old roof on the ground and then move it to the dump truck. The way my house sits they couldn't get the dump truck close enough to the house. Huey & Sons Roofing were one of four companies that we had evaluate the condition of our roof and give us an estimate to replace. They were the best value and use IKO roofing shingles, which our research showed were excellent quality (and the shingles come in a number of different colors and patterns). A week after we signed our agreement the roofing materials were delivered and the following morning a crew of nine arrived and the old roof was removed by late morning and new box vents, vent pipe caps, chimney flashing, and roof sealant were installed. By noon the next day the new roof was installed and thorough cleanup completed. The new roof color and pattern they recommended looks great with the brick on the front of our home. Huey & Sons Roofing, strongly recommended to me by a neighbor whose roof had recently been installed by them, provided outstanding service from my first phone call until the final walk around. Mr. Sean Woodward gave me a bid that was significantly less than all my other bids. He was consistently kind, polite, and patient with questions, as was Tammy in the office. All documents and communications were sent in a timely manner; Tammy is professional and perfectly organized. Jacob, the crew leader, arrived a bit early on the assigned date, was extremely patient in answering my questions, and was smiling, cheerful, and eager to help. He made helpful suggestions for things of which I had been unaware. The crew was prompt and a genuine pleasure to be with; I always felt safe with them. Every member of the crew worked diligently all day in the hot sun, and cleaned the gardens and other areas around the house beautifully afterward. The possibility that some wood roofing sheets might have to be replaced was explained up-front, and we did have several that needed to be replaced. What a great roofing company. Their estimate came in better than the other companies. Even had two skylights replaces with estimate. Very professional when the owner came for the estimate. When the scheduled roofing day arrived I was notified a couple of days ahead. The crew was very professional and completed my home in one day. I just had my roof replaced by Huey and Sons and I can't recommend them too highly! From the first meeting with Jacob for an estimate to completion, all transactions were smooth and expertly handled. The very favorable estimate covered items I had not thought of (eaves repair, new skylights), and included a formula for calculating contingencies. The crew was prompt and respectful and the office communicated in a friendly and professional manner. The team descended on the roof in a brief window between storms and completed the entire job (including extensive roof repairs) in less than 8 hours and left my property tidier than when they arrived. read more

I had some asphalt shingle type "Ridge Cap" blow off during our last big wind and I only wanted to replace those shingles at this time. I got my reply from Huey & Sons advising me that they don't do little jobs this small and suggested I call another company. They did provide a name and phone number. read more

A 20 year roof was installed on our home by Huey and Sons. At year 15, we started to notice several leaks. Huey came out to inspect and found that the roofing tiles had plenty of life and that "the roof should not be leaking". There was speculation about laundry detergent used for moss control causing the leaks. I was told once the detergent washed off, the leaks should be gone because the roof is in great shape. This turned out not to be the case after 30 days of rain and the leaks continued. In an email, they acknowledge that the roof failed prematurely an in person that the leaks should not be happening based on the condition of the roof. I had them back out to re-evaluate and the speculation continued. This time it was because the home had lap roofing, but it was also stated that even with lap roofing leaks are very rare. The only solution offered was for me to replace the roof at full cost, thereby shifting the entire burden to me. There was not an attempt to offer some sort of discount for repeat business, or to contact the roofing tile manufacturer to see if there was a recall on their product. Having installed the roof, I was hoping to hear that they stood behind their work or at least made an attempt to make things right on a new install by offering some modicum of a discount on a roof that only lasted 75% of it's life. Instead, I got acknowledgement that: 1) This should not be happening 2) The roof failed prematurely 3) Sucks to be you- we recommend you put on a new roof. They had an opportunity to earn a customer for life by just making things right. Terrible customer service. read more

First the good. They finished our roof in one day. I wasn't here when they left so I didn't look over their work until the following day. When I did, I saw that they had replaced some of the flashing on the front of the house. The roof is a dark, almost black with a reddish cast. Our house is a grayish green and the original flashing on the rest of the roof is a dark gray. The flashing they replaced is a yellowish, baby poop tan color and sticks out like a sore thumb. My neighbor even commented on it. I called their office and requested they send someone out to look at it. They sent Shawn and when we looked at it together, he said that it must have been that color before because they don't replace the flashing and beside, it would be too difficult to replace at this point. We've lived in this house since new, 23 years and I've repainted it once so I know every square inch and I know unequivocally that all of the flashing on the house was dark gray. I even have pictures that show it was dark gray. Besides, who builds a new house and uses two contrasting colors of flashing on the front of the house?! He suggested that I paint it gray to match the rest of the flashing on the house. Bottom line, he refused to change the flashing they had replaced, so we're stuck. We also had to replace some shrubs that they threw shingles on when they were removing the original roof. For these reasons, I do not recommend Huey & Sons if you're looking for a roofer. read more

Recently called to set up a an appointment for a roof estimate. The estimator showed up on time, and was quite pleasant to deal with. We had just purchased the house, and had been told that our roof might need replacement in the near future. When the estimator arrived, he inspected the roof, and much to our surprise informed us we still had a few years of life remaining in it. They are fast workers. My roof was horrible before because of a lot of water damage. They replaced the wood and rebuild my sky light. Great customer service. I got a 100 dollar discount from their website. I would highly recommend them. It took them 6 hours to finish and then did a cleanup of my property. When I first bought this home in 2001. I saw a water line forming in the ceiling. I called up Huey and Sons Roofing. Marty Huey came out and put some tar stuff on the vent caps in the roof at no charge. That held it for about 10ys. Then I needed to get the whole roof done in 2014. They scheduled just a few days out and started repair. I am so happy to know Huey and Sons Roofing. They are indeed the very best roofers in Oregon. I hate to see other roofing companies on a neighbors house just because they work on there's for a month or more. Huey and Sons get the job done all in one day. And will do a quality job.
