2 stars because I didn't have issues with the actual optometrist but the receptionists provided the…read moreworst costumer care I have ever experienced. I only booked my appointment at this location because they were the only optometrist in the area to take my insurance for medical reasons only. I must have verified my insurance with them a dozen times. I changed my name in the 6 months in between my appointments due to marriage and had to verify it all over again several times over the phone. After my last appointment, the receptionist called me while I was driving home and she accused me for not paying for my appointment. I tried to explain to her that my insurance should have covered everything, just like last time. She accused me of not having insurance and told me that they do not accept the type of insurance that I have, even though I knew they did because of my previous appointment. I was driving and could not recite my member ID number verbatim but figured they should have recorded it the SEVERAL times I told them the number in the past after the name change. But when I got home, I called and told them the updated ID and it should have been completely resolved. I guess not because they just left me a nasty email, weeks later, saying that if I did not respond to them they were going to send my invoice to collections. I called yet again to give them my ID number and insurance information. I have never dealt with so much drama over my health insurance coverage. If these receptionists could just have better record keeping when asking for insurance information this whole thing could have been avoided. Not to mention the rudeness and to be treated in such an unprofessional manner. I guess I'll have to go elsewhere for my eye care needs because it's not worth the drama! I'd actually pay out of pocket just to avoid it.

Q Optical in Rhinebeck is the best optometrist ever. Yay!…read more Very sweet and nice doc who didn't mind that I am totally paranoid about my eyes and flinched throughout the exam. Friendly, patient front-woman, who didn't care when I tried on basically every pair of glasses ever. Tiny shop but relatively broad and well-chosen selection of frames - some very-high-end, some more 'normal'. Also I liked the doc's own personal glasses and he let me try them on. :D Problems: Sort of weird hours (since it is basically a one-person operation, can't expect them to work every minute I guess!) -- they don't have a website, though, and they don't always answer the phone or seem to have a message, so it is hard to tell when they will be there, etc. Personally I think that they should develop a web presence of some kind - doesn't have to be big or anything, but more info would be nice.

They got me in right away and the new classes with updated prescription are now on order. Great service. My husband and I have been going to Q-optical for the past 15 years. Dr. Q is welcoming, professional, and our prescriptions have always been perfect for correcting our vision issues. Carla who supports the glasses selection, fitting, and payments provides just the right amount of input to support costumers with their decisions. A great team!
