I have been wearing glasses for over 45 years and cannot see far. Funally decided to do the Lasik for which i was an excellent candidate for. Just had Lasik performed by Dr. Salierno and it went flawlessly. The staff was very pleasant including the consultation appoint and follow up. They answered my multiple questions without any hesitation. On procedure day, Dr. Salierno was professional and explained every step he was going to do before doing it. He continually checked on me to see how I was doing, etc. The procedure went well, I followed all instructions, and continued with applying eye drops as often as I could. Happy to report that I could see clearly within a matter of hours and 3 weeks post procedure I am doing fantastic. Eye drop applications multiple times during the day is essential for proper healing. Hmmmm, I've actually been thinking about this review...What I wanted to say and if the 4.5 rating would be rounded up or down, and you see I bumped it up to 5 (just know if 4.5 were an option, that's what it would be, lol). So, my hairdresser who is in her 20s got LASIK here within the last year. LASIK is something I've been thinking about for over a decade, but between not wanting to take on the extra expense and being a chicken, I never followed through with any of the free consultations many places offer. Welp, in 2018 I decided to up my contributions to my HSA just in case I got the courage to follow through with this idea. 2019 arrived, I had an extra $1000+ going into my HSA for this and it was early in the year, and time to either pay for a contact lens fitting and the lenses, or finally go get this free LASIK consultation. I actually mentioned this idea at work and two co-workers told me they also had LASIK and were very happy they did! Like any good Yelp Eliter, I came straight to Yelp to check out the reviews for the different places these ladies went, and LasikPlus DEFINITELY had the best reviews, and none that scared me. After all, my vision and my eyes are nothing at all to take risks or play around with. I actually sent a message to a different provider for an appointment, then read the reviews, saw they offered Groupons and cancelled the appointment! Now, I could have saved quite a bit over $1000 if I bought that Groupon and went elsewhere, but again, I'll pay more to feel confident that the procedure will work, with a reputable doctor and that my vision won't be jeopardized, so I did. Only the afternoon/evening after I had the procedure was I freaked out and hating my eyes watering non-stop, but that was it! Seriously, one half of a day of actually feeling like I wasn't sure if I should have done this. Then I went to sleep, woke up feeling like I could see better than 20/20 and noticed my eyes weren't tearing uncontrollably anymore. Your eyes will be red and you have to use a lot of drops for the first week, but omg I could see! With no glasses, no contacts, no taking the time to clean my contacts or take one out and put it back in if it was inside out, or take the time to get it from getting stuck under my eyelid on the occasions that happened! The procedure was really done in under 10 minutes, as others have said. It's pretty amazing! Now while most of the staff here is nice and friendly and pleasant, I won't even pretend I loved every single one of them, which is the main reason for the 4.5 stars. I mean, I'd love a lower price too, but again, I was going for quality over cost, or I would've gone elsewhere. I had my procedure almost exactly a month ago, and my eyesight is great and I rarely can tell I've had LASIK that recently. Your eyes are still adjusting so I did have blurriness a few days, which is scary, but they assured me this was normal then it went away and I'm back to feeling like I have combined vision of 20/15! So, I wish I did this years ago and didn't spend money on contacts and fittings, but I'm glad I didn't wait any longer than I did! Also shoutout to my awesome fiancé for taking me to my appointment and putting the drops in my eyes the day of the procedure, when I was being a punk (don't tell anyone) because it stung a little and I wanted to keep my eyes closed so they could heal. So you do sort of feel rushed sometimes with the doctors, and while sitting there deciding if you should do it after you hear the cost, but it's really a procedure that doesn't take long and either you want it or you don't. If you want everyone to kiss your butt and coddle you, maybe this isn't the place for you, but if you want a doctor you can trust and a lifetime warranty, essentially, should you need a free touch up in 10 years? Then this is the place for you! P.S. They also have a referral program, so if you know me and are reading this, and don't know anyone else (that you like more) that's had LASIK here, reach out to me for my full last name so you can tell them I referred you! It's a win-win if it's something you've been thinking about, like I did for years and years! Oh, not sure if this is something that is always done, or if it was a special happening when I happened to go in, but if I booked the procedure within a week of my consultation, they'd take $200 of the price. PRK I underwent a PRK procedure with LasikPlus at this location, and it went very well. Online, people said that it would be more painful and uncomfortable than LASIK, but LasikPlus made the experience seamless. Worst day was day 2, and even that was bearable. The procedure itself took no more than 15-20 minutes. It's not a scary surgery, it's pretty casual. Recovery is obviously going to take time, but I'll trade a month for a lifetime of no glasses. Recommended if you choose to do PRK. The people here are great! read more

**Upfront/Honest Review** I have an astigmatism which has made vision difficult over the years. I never end up wearing the glasses I buy, and cannot tolerate contacts. I decided to go to Lasik Plus in Wethersfield in CT to correct my vision. The consultation staff did a very detailed examination, and spent a considerable amount of time with me (very kind people). The facility was clean, and all information was upfront and clear. HOWEVER, there are things I would change! They write you a RX for Valium pill to bring to procedure day, and have you take it in their presence, NOT before you get there. I was allowed to take the pill 10 min prior to my procedure. The medication did not have time to work before the procedure. I was VERY anxious/apprehensive during the procedure due to that. They should give 2 mg of Valium as well. I'm 135 lbs, and the 1 mg never touched me. I would have been more sedated with one beer on an empty stomach. I asked a question during the procedure, and Dr Jeng told me I couldn't talk, which was never explained to me. At points during the procedure, you cannot see. Dr Jang surprised me several times with unannounced reintroduction to my eye which caused reflexes to blink the eye. He told me not to blink which could have been avoided if I knew he was coming back in. I responded with "Ok" to his requests, and he told me not to acknowledge him- which was strange. In short, Dr Jeng did not help my anxiety level. My cornea was scratched during the procedure, which was blamed on me blinking at some point. I don't know how the scratch could have occurred with blinking. Dr Jeng pressed down excessively hard on my right eye, and I had to tell him to stop at one point (was very painful and concerning). Dr Jeng did a great job, but I personally would choose another surgeon if I had to do it all over. read more

I can honestly say that having Lasik surgery was a great decision for me, and that I'm very happy with the service and results I got from Lasik Plus in Wethersfield. Dr. Sallerno was recommended to me by my eye doctor when I complained to her about discomfort wearing contacts (I've been wearing them for 20 years). Despite my being squeemish and uncomfortable with the idea of laser surgery, I went to the free consultation and was put at ease by the staff there. Everyone was very patient with me, from the technicians, doctors and even the receptionist-- they really take their time with you. The surgery was less than 10 minutes long, and although brief moments of the procedure were a little scary, it happens so quickly that you really don't have time to freak out or panic. Before I knew it, it was over. I didn't feel a thing the entire time, and didn't have any pain, although there was a bit of tolerable discomfort for a few hours afterwards. Compared to years of wearing contacts that would dry out and cause me hours of discomfort on a daily basis, this was easy. And I have had no pain or discomfort since. For a few days (about 10) I had blurry, fuzzy vision and it was difficult to work and drive. I had a pretty high prescription and for some of us, this is a normal reaction and par for the course. Switching my eye drops to one with a higher concentration of lubricant (with my doctor's blessing, of course) helped a lot. I can now see just as well as I saw before with my glasses and contacts-- which is pretty amazing. Recovery is pretty easy, just follow the doctor's instructions, take the drops, and wear sunglasses outside. Don't skimp on the drops-- it really helps! Overall, I think this surgery is going to really change my life for the better. read more

Got a notice from my insurance that LASIK Plus had a special for 695.00 dollars an eye. After driving 2 hours to this location, and spending an hour getting "tested" I was told the price would be 1400 PER EYE and that was AFTER my insurance discount. The woman told me that the 695.00 price "was just marketing" and that I didn't qualify. So, they advertise pricing to get you in, my prescription fell DIRECTLY under their terms, then i am told it's "just marketing". I left a review on Facebook and they responded that "we aren't aware of any 695.00 dollar promotion. Well I posted the notice I got, and guess what? No response from this company. I wasted 4 hours of round trip driving and 1 hour of exam time to have a bait and switch pulled on me. I would never do business with such a deceiving company, and company who ignores their own marketing promotions and who responds to reviews only to make themselves LOOK good but not really helping the customer. Below is the picture of the promotion that apparently I don't qualify for, even though my prescription falls under their terms and conditions. There are other, more honest companies out there. I honestly feel like their Facebook reviews are pure lies. When you go in for their exam, they actually ask you take out your cell phone and then ask you to LIKE their Facebook page BEFORE they even give you a quote. I am not making that up! They stand there while you do it, its just bizarre. I found a company that is 15 minutes from me, that is doing the procedure for 800 dollars less than Lasik Plus Hartford. I am paying 600 more overall from the "marketing price" that I apparently don't qualify for from of this company, but i'd gladly pay it to a company that didn't try and scam me, at least they were honest from the start. read more

I can't give zero stars so my rating is one star. Upon walking to the door I noticed several signs saying no entry without a mask. I haven't been anywhere in the past month where a mask was required and I didn't have one. I don't mind that they require a mask but in the three conversations I had booking and confirming the appointment no one mentioned it. I opened the door and was glared at by three people behind the reception desk. I explained that I didn't have a mask and didn't know they were required. I was informed that most places require them. If that were true, I would've came with a mask but I guess the stores and businesses I go to don't qualify as just places. I was given a mask to wear and allowed to stay. After about ten minutes a woman came to get me. She had an attitude because I hadn't listed the medications that I take and she had to write them down. She asked about my vision and I told her I needed glasses and contacts for distance but I could see fine close up. She explained that I was older (I'm 47, not 80) and need "readers". I explained again that I can see up close just fine without any glasses. She raised her voice and loudly demanded "You need to listen to me. You don't know anything. I know this. Lay people always think they know but they don't so you need to pay attention.". I let her know that she was rude. She again repeated lay people don't know as much as her and I was wrong about being able to see up close without glasses. She spent less than a minute actually doing something to determine what kind of a surgery I would need and how much it was. Literally, the only thing she did was check the prescription of the glasses I was wearing. I ended up telling her it was too much. My visit was over at that point because if you don't immediately agree with the cost you don't get to speak with a doctor. She made that clear. The majority of my time spent at this place was getting eyes rolled at me for not wearing a mask when no one told me to expect to and being belittled and bullied by a condescending lab tech. If that is your thing and you like to be treated like garbage when playing thousands of dollars for a service, by all means, go to this place. If you prefer to be treated as if you are a patient/customer who's business is appreciated, I suggest you go elsewhere. I wouldn't go back to this place if it were free. read more

I am sure these people are very skilled at the eye surgery they perform. The facility is modern and reassuring, and they have many happy patients. Their FB and Yelp reviews are very positive. I went here for a consultation and was approved for surgery. However, I didn't follow through. Everyone was very nice, but it was also a very slick sales presentation. Complete with strategies like asking about my family and then using their names in the sales pitch ("You want to be able to see Alexander clearly with no glasses, right?") I went home and said to my husband, "I'm not sure if they wanted to perform a medical procedure, or sell me a used car." I ended up not going for the surgery, simply because I wasn't too comfortable with the sales tactics. read more

I had LASIK done on a Friday and 6 days later I still can see only 5 ft ahead of me. Many glowing reviews say they see the evening after surgery or 24 hours later. That is not the case for me. Every one is different and not every medical procedure will go the same. I am in grad school (evening courses) and work full-time and now I can't drive. I wish LasikPlus told me there would be a chance my vision may not be well enough to drive and the healing time. I was told I will be fine/see by 24 hours. This is deemed an elective surgery so this industry is for profit. It is what it is. If I knew I would do the surgery when I was out of school, but I don't know if numbers or money drives them to not disclose this information. Maybe it's disclosed in the fine print. Also no one called/checked on me afterwards like I've read in other reviews. It wasn't until I realize I couldn't drive to work for Monday on Sunday evening they returned my voicemail. After my follow up appointment with a 20/70 vision I asked if that was legal to drive and they said no. You as the patient have to know what to ask because they do not want to tell you anything remotely "negative". Very nice acting ppl but they should really tell ppl it may take up to 3 months for your vision to improve if at all. After that follow-up appointment at 20/70 vision they told me my primary doctor will be doing my follow-up....You would think I got a discount the way they were quick to drop me from a 2nd follow up appointment. I wasn't legal to drive 3 days after the procedure and they were quick to pass me over to my eye doctor. I don't know if they read my review or their humanity hit them but I got a call for another follow-up appointment. Be aware! On a positive note the actual procedure did not hurt and I didn't experience any pain during recovery. Also the creepy video they record of you when you get up after the procedure while you're on Valium is unnecessary. I had no idea I was being recorded. Classy. Not everyone wants their image to be for your use and promotion and I wish they had the ethics to respect that. But more promotion more money I guess. *UPDATE* A month later and I am now wearing glasses. An enhancement appears to be in my future. I will update my review once everything is settled. My vision is 20/50 I believe in both eyes after lasik. read more

They explained everything even things I didn't think of asking. The day of my PRK procedure I was so nervous I was even thinking of backing out but they were so kind and shared their experience with me and made me feel confident. I stepped in the room for my procedure and I welcomed my DR. Shriver smiling face ensuring me it would all be ok and I realized that was the voice on the phone the evening before my procedure, he called personally to put my mind at ease and honestly that also helped. Today 10/16/2019 is my 5th day time for my bandage contacts to be removed and I see 20/15 vision and I had no pain on the 3rd day of my procedure like they said I would no discomfort honestly only a little light sensitivity. If I could give them zero stars I would! I had Lasik performed a year ago. I have been having issues with my distance vision since day 1, especially when driving. I have been reporting this at every follow up appointment, being told it takes a year to 'fully heal', and to keep applying moisturizing eye drops. I just had my 1 year exam by my regular eye doctor, who confirms I still require a prescription for both reading (expected) as well as distance. I can not read street signs when driving. So I need not only glasses, but sunglasses also. I payed a lot of money to not have to wear glasses, and am being told that I still do. I had my doctor submit the form for 'enhancement procedure' (not a revision, even though there is supposed to be a lifetime guarantee). I was just informed that the vision deficit is not 'bad enough' to qualify, and once they get worse, then I can reapply. Apparently they just guarantee 'good enough vision'. Biggest waste of money! I spent thousands, and am still having to spend hundreds every year on prescription glasses. read more

I had been considering Lasik surgery for several years and after speaking to several people whom have had it and 4 of the 5 people all got it done with Dr. Salerno at LasikPlus, which was reassuring as I wasn't too keen on what looked to be a cookie cutter chain. I made an appointment and was very pleased with my first experience at the Wethersfield location. Everyone was great and very knowledgeable about the whole process and all the questions I had. The testing all went well and we spent time going through the cost and financing options available. A little backstory on myself, I have one good eye, about 20/25 or so, and one bad eye, which I've never really treated, but probably should have. I should have worn glasses growing up but didn't, so my brain compensated and I mainly used my one strong eye for everything, so no contacts or glasses for me ever. I thought utilizing Lasik to correct the one bad eye would make huge improvements in my vision. After my appointment I was told I should do both eyes, as doing just the bad eye wouldn't make a big difference and that both should be done to see an improvement. The more and more I thought about it I decided I'd do the bad eye first and then I would get the good eye done if no difference was seen. I made my appointment and was supposed to get my surgery today. Upon arriving they again tested my vision, now that my eyes were no longer dilated, and we again talked through doing both eyes vs. just the one bad one. At this point Dr. Salerno came in and explained that since my one good eye was already so good, near 20/20, that if I were to only do the bad eye I wouldn't see any difference and honestly wouldn't be something I should do. He then went on to explain that since my good eye was actually pretty decent that even doing both eyes I would only see a minimum gain on my vision, and honestly thought I shouldn't do it until my stronger eye began to fail, which is a strong possibility in the future. It was quite refreshing to deal with someone who not only was honest and had my best interest at heart, but was also not just looking to do another surgery to make a buck. So although I did not go through with my surgery today I left with a very good understanding of what the process would have been like and what I should expect going forward. I will most certainly recommend LasikPlus and Dr. Salerno to anyone interested in vision correction surgery and will myself be back once my good eye begins to go. read more

I've been waiting to get LASIK for almost 10 years, and I finally reached the age that I could get it! I scheduled a free consultation and my first impression of the facility was that it was very clean and new. The technicians thoroughly went through all the checks on my eyes and a doctor reviewed the results and approved me for Custom Wavefront LASIK. They answered all of my questions and ran through every single step of the process with me. I was excited to come in for surgery in January. On the day of the surgery, the technician and the surgeon checked my eyes again before I went in. The process was pretty intense, but it was over way faster than I thought it would be. Everyone at the center was very friendly and enthusiastic, which was really comforting to have. After the surgery I could see a little, but my eyes did hurt quite a bit. I got prescription eye drops, lubricating eye drops, sunglasses, and eye protectors to take home. I slept through most of the day and kept my eyes closed for the most part. At night, I could actually see! It was amazing to wake up the next day and see clearly for the first time in my life. There was no pain the next day, but my eyes were red. I would give 20 stars if I could. My experience from start to finish exceeded my expectations. Everyone greeted me warmly and by name, answered all of my questions, discussed the treatment in detail including aftercare, and took the time to find a financing plan that worked for me. I never felt pressured to make a decision. When my treatment day came I was a little nervous but SO excited! The surgery took about 10 minutes and it was exactly as described to me: some light pressure and a cool feeling, followed by a "dry eye" feeling afterwards. The surgeon personally called me the next day to check in on me and see if I had any questions or concerns. My vision went from legally blind without glasses to BETTER than 20/20!! Came here from a recommendation from a friend. Different location from the one he went but the staff here were awesome! Pricing was a bit higher then I thought but having insurance took $800 off my total. Still came up to $3000 plus. Just had my surgery this past Saturday, everything went well. Did as they instructed with the drops and after the first day I already could notice a difference in my vision. I bit fuzzy mostly in my right eye. Second day, I'm at the office doing my check up, still a bit fuzzy and my right eye isn't as sharp as my left but I had my eye exam and had 20/15 vision! Doctor told me that the healing will take a bit longer on my right eye and that it should get shaper over time. Probably not the same because one will always be better. Still I'm happy with the overall experience and would recommend LasikPlus to anyone! read more

I was very excited to get my initial eye exam at LasikPlus today.i arrived early and was met by a very nice receptionist. The technician that did a vision screening was pleasant an efficient. I was lead to a room where I was told the doctor would be in to talk to me. The doctor came in and told me that I was not an eligible candidate because the stigmatism I have in one eye required a prism and because of that I couldn't get LASIK. This was done in a very matter of fact manor and I was quickly lead to the door and was told your done.... No where in all the paper work I filled out was it mentioned that any of this would be an issue...in fact it mentions that stigmatism's were not a disqualification. So far so good! I have been interested in LASIK for quite some time but never went through with it. So happy I did. It feels amazing to be able to see everything- all the time! I had a very high prescription and had been wearing glasses and contacts for the last 25 years. I do have to be honest that for the first 5 to 6 hours after the surgery I felt extreme discomfort - felt like a terrible sinus headache. They say to go home and sleep after the surgery but that's just not easy for me so I was up and panicking. I called Dr. V who was on call that night and she calmed me down. The next morning I woke up feeling just fine and was able to drive without anything to help me see. Just got home from my follow up 4 days after surgery and my vision tested at 20/20!!!!! read more

From the consultation, to the day of treatment, and after I am so happy I made the decision to do this at such a wonderful place! I am a pilot so I was concerned about the procedure. After a very thorough exam, I was passed as a candidate. The negative reviews I have seen all deal with the supposed "sales pitch", I did NOT perceive this at all, if you are coming in to get evaluated, you pretty much know that you want the procedure. The whole staff is very friendly and always take their time to listen to any questions you might have. TAKE the Valium prescription!!!!! I did not and was suffering after the procedure, your eyes will sting A LOT for the first 4 hours, the Valium helps knock you out, this really helps. 4 days later, I see 20/15 with both eyes, with the possibility of getting better while healing! 10 minutes of procedure and you are done! My wife had the Lasik procedure done yesterday. She has 20/20 vision today. No pain, a little swelling and redness, but a BIG smile on her face. Highly, highly recommend Lasik Plus - Hartford in Wethersfield. Dr. Salierno was great, comforting, put her at ease immediately; even called later that night to check-in and give us a few reminders (amazing!). Everything from the first step in the door to leaving our appt this morning was an absolute model experience. We could not have asked for anything more! The whole team exceeded our expectations.
