Taken directly from the Dining Section of Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel, "Experience the charm and style of Dust Cutter, our hotel's acclaimed restaurant and bar in downtown Phoenix. Once known as a strong cocktail that could cut the dust from your tongue, Dust Cutter is our modern urban saloon with innovative menus and a charmingly bold attitude". Modern Urban Saloon? I wouldn't say it's modern With Innovative Menus? I wouldn't say that either. More so, it's an up charged bar menu. My colleagues and I stopped in on more than one occasion for office birthday lunches. It's usually about 10 of us. We always go between 11:30 and 12. We're usually the first ones in there for lunch. Service is ALWAYS slow. Always! Between the 10 of us we almost always get the following items: Chipotle BBQ Chicken sandwich $13 bucks The Chopped Salad $12 bucks The Grilled Spicy Chicken Sandwich $13 bucks B.L.A.T.T. $13 bucks Bistro Burger $13 bucks All sandwiches comes with your choice of Regular Fries, Sweet Potatoes Fries, Side salad or Fruit. The Chipotle Chicken Sandwich has caramelized onions, pineapple pico de gallo, Mexican cheeses. The Chopped Salad has baby romaine greens, Tepary beans, corn, tomatoes, pepitas, cucumber, queso fresco & cilantro-lime vinaigrette. The Grilled Spicy Chicken Sandwich has candied jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, butter lettuce, tomato, chipotle aioli, artisan bun. This is probably the most flavorful of the 2 chicken sandwiches. Also, it's light on the spice. Really light so don't' be intimidated by the candied jalaepnos, pepper jack cheese or chipotle aioli. The B.L.A.T.T has roasted turkey, butter lettuce, bacon, tomato, avocado, pommery aioli, farm house wheat. The Bistro Burger has beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, artisan bun. The flavors are okay but nothing innovated here on the menu. If staying in the hotel, there are better options around and I wouldn't other visiting own on own. read more

Very quick service at the bar, friendly staff and nice ambiance with live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays. They have big tv minutos so makes for some good entertainment if no music at the time. Had the chilly and it was thick and hearty , very tasty but served cold which is why I'm not 100% satisfied. Not sure how it was for other warm food but their salads looked very good as I glanced over at other dishes. Good drinks selections, several wine glasses to choose from. It's a hotel lobby so it's on the pricier side... $12 for the chilly and same for the glass of wine. I basically paid for the ambiance and it was convenient not having to leave the hotel cuz it was cold. read more

Really disappointed in this place. First, there is no body to greet u and take u to a table. I just kind of had to wander myself to get one. I ordered the pork tacos and it was so underflavored. The pork was juicy but just didn't have flavor. It came with beans which I swear were just out the can with no salt. I had to douse it with salt to get any flavor. The elote was ok but had a weird after taste- I have fed had better. Also no outdoor seating was kind of a bummer. Service was friendly and efficient but u can't make up for bad food with good staff. read more

Great find! My friends and I went before a concert and enjoyed a fabulous happy hour. We shared nachos with chicken, hummus, and flatbread all from the happy hour menu. Everything was delicious, especially the queso. Lots of flavor and lots of options on the menu that you don't see everywhere. With a happy hour wine, iced tea and two specialty cocktails the bill was only $60! I couldn't resist the My Darling Rhonda vodka cocktail. And, the service was great too. We definitely will be back to try their burgers. read more

Decided to stop in somewhere different for lunch downtown and was very impressed with Dust Cutter. The restaurant is inside the Renaissance Hotel and had an eclectic mix of patrons stopping in from what was likely travel or for a quick lunch break. I'll admit that I was a little worried when we took a seat, nearly every table was full and between the bar and the restaurant floor, they had only two servers. However, the restaurant was well staffed and prepared for a busy lunch rush. They had a food runner, management was refilling drinks, and a busser took care to clear tables. I ordered the B.L.A.T.T., an amazing avocado, turkey BLT. It was reasonably priced and I highly recommend it. 5 stars for amazing service, food, and atmosphere. Definitely plan on coming back! read more

This place is very nice & trendy that in located inside the Renaissance Hotel. I like the vibe with not too loud music & lot of opened sitting area. They got nice decor for casual dining. It is a good place for the conversation & drink. The nicest thing I like is there is no smell of foods in the dining area but the nice music read more

Love Dust Cutters! My mom and I come here to eat often, and we both love the Harvest Bowl! Rhonda was our bar tender/server, and she was awesome! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in downtown Phoenix! read more

The restaurant is beautiful on the inside and feels like a place you could spend hours with friends and have a wonderful time. I ordered the dust cutter old fashioned. It was excellent. Five stars for the cocktail. For my food, I ordered the "Steak and Bake" which was $42. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out on the well done side of median well. That being said, the steak still tasted wonderful and was tender. It came with a baked sweet potato, carrots, a whiskey bbq sauce, and Brussels sprouts. The theme of the restaurant is something along the lines of "food from the ranch." A baked sweet potato turning out to be a third of a baked sweet potato doesn't follow with that theme. It tasted very nice, just only tasted that way for all 4 bites. The carrots were roasted carrots. If you e ever had roasted carrots, you've had these. The BBQ sauce tasted nice, just didn't seem to go with anything. I never put it on anything because it just didn't feel like it was meant for anything. Here is where we need to take a moment to pay our respects. The Brussels sprouts.... Let's acknowledge that these should have been the worst part of the evening. The reality however, was that these were the best Brussels sprouts I've ever come across. I would have traded my steak, and everything else on the plate for a full plate of these things. They were out of this world. They should be their own menu item, I'd come back just for them and an old fashioned. Overall, great atmosphere, if the steak were cooked correctly, the BBQ sauce were removed, and the meal were $5-10 cheaper, this would be a 4.5 star review. read more

Sonoran style upscale dining located in the Renaissance hotel. The modern flare is a nice spin to the recently renovated hotel. I celebrated a friends birthday a few days ago and had a wonderful time. The offerings on the menu were different which was a talking point among my party. We all ordered different dishes which made us want each other's plates. The portion size for the price was nice. The food was very tasty as it was cooked to order. Everything was perfect. A new swing to downtown dining. Even though we sat off to the side in a semi private areas they had a happening bar with business professionals. I highly recommend stopping in to give them a try. The staff was on point and the decor was unique. read more

Magnificent bar in the Renaissance Hotel lobby. Very confortable seating. Central bar. Generous portions of food during HH. Be wary of the distance between the kitchen and the bar because this will have an effect on the temperature of your food... I am only going to give three stars because my husband & I were very disappointed with the service. With twelve people seated around the bar, we were astounded to see the bartender turn her back to her customers and play crosswords with her friends. We witnessed a man ask for his check. The bartender acknowledged him, started walking towards the computer, but then changed her mind, went back to her book, answered a clue and only after that, went and looked after her customer. Not professional. read more

What a wonderful find while on business travel. Most hotel restaurants are blah. This place is inside The Renaissance Hotel, newly remodeled and has an awesome menu! The bar is beautiful and set up for socializing, looks like a great meeting spot after work or with friends. There are a few small tables but also has quite a few large hi top tables for large groups. Cute rustic lux feel. I had the chicken & waffles it was amazing in flavor even the watermelon was pickled and has a spicy kick. The chicken was tender and juicy and was a nice meal portion.I love the bourbon syrup you can definitely Taste the bourbon.... I may even have a lil buzzzzz Just don't pour the sauce over top as the waffle is lacking on the crunchy crisp of a perfect waffle so it will get soggy fast. I'd have given it 5 stars if it were crunchy! read more

I wanted to try this place. I looked online and their closing time was 1:00am. Called to confirm closing time and nobody answered. Arrived at 11:30pm and told they were closing at midnight and they already had their last call. Stop using COVID as an excuse and update your hours. Downtown sucks because of stores that close at midnight! read more

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Mac n Cheese, my date had the smoked wet chicken tacos and said they were delightful. The cocktails were really good and had a perfect balance of flavors. The server was really nice, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is really cool. When we went it was a bit chilly outside and they had the giant sliding doors open so it was a tad cold Also, it wasn't very busy but things were a tad slow but not bad. All in all it was great. read more

While staying at the Renaissance, we decided to order takeout from here and stay in to watch the playoffs...SO glad we did!! Ordered the tomato poblano soup- really delicious and had a nice kick to it! Also ordered the blue corn nachos- I was kind of bummed they were out of the Beyond Chorizo (my BF is pescatarian) BUT they were kindly able to sub out for grilled chicken on the side for me (and they gave me a TON of it so I can't complain at all). The nachos were COVERED in toppings (queso, guac, sour cream, salsa, jalapeños) and were the PERFECT game snack! Highly recommend! read more

Good food and drinks! Like the ambiance and service too. I had asked for a drink recommendation and based on my likes and dislikes the bartender recommended the coffin varnish. Sounds a bit scary, but it was perfect for me! Also got the cornbread which was great and huge. I also got the chicken taquitos. I wasn't expecting much but these were awesome! The red sauce they used was fantastic! Definitely recommend checking this place out for happy hour or just for a few evening drinks. read more

Expect super long wait times. Showed up, ordered my drink (diet coke) then my food (cowboy burger). Took about an hour then the waitress tells me they will cover my food for the wait. Decided to wait a little more and still no burger. Oh, the people at the bar were served and they showed up way after me. Meh, oh well, cancelled my order and left. read more

Great Breakfast and Service! Always open on holidays too! Located downtown phoenix inside Hotel. The food is gourmet very good food.

If you're looking for a laid back but delicious dinner experience, this is your place! The Gaucho Style Flatbread was a super yummy way to start things off. For our entrees I ordered the burger and my boyfriend ordered the smoked chicken tacos. The burger was simple but cooked perfectly and the fries were great too! The tacos came with a dipping broth that was phenomenal and made the meal more fun to eat. The cocktails were a great addition to our meals as well - the Vieux Carre was the perfect balance of sweet and savory! Everything was very reasonably priced which makes this the perfect place to stop in for a quick happy hour/dinner! read more

Not sure about the cocktails I got straight tequila. So maybe my review is biased, or maybe that's the only way I could try to enjoy the food here... If you enjoy fast food then definitely try this place out but if you are looking for actual delicious quisine that you will be satisfied with keep it moving. We got some appetizers and entrees and nothing felt more out together than a microwaved hungryman freeze dried. 32 bucks for a over cooked sirloin steak hit with some dried up chimmichurri was too much..I think my DNA was damaged by all the microwaves I injested here... Service was great no knocks against them, but go somewhere else if you want to actually enjoy your food. Thanks for reading. Good luck. Best part of the meal read more

My husband and I came here a few months ago to meet up with our friends, we all were on different fences about our experiences. Speaking for myself, I enjoyed the food more than anything. Our service wasn't great however Dust Cutter was pretty busy and there was only one person helping out and doing everything. I loved the art on the walls and the style of the restaurant. The location is interesting, the menu choices feel limited however they're different so its exciting. The drinks I didn't enjoy however we most likely would try coming back! read more

Excellent service from the wait staff to the bartenders. Very welcoming and fair pricing. You get plenty of great food

That pork belly tho Incredible. Fried avocados were light and fresh! Loved the dipping sauce. Elote in a cup packed a serious spice punch, and was so good my friend ordered more. Not as big a fan of the taquitos, but everything else was so good its hard to complain. The Calamity Jane drink was serious perfection - great for those who like a sweeter drink. Would recommend hands down read more

Located in the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Phoenix, this is a nice little bar with food service, while the food is good, and reasonable priced for a hotel bar/restaurant the service is a little slow. They don't seem to have enough servers for the crowd that was there the night we stopped by. There were quite a few people in town for the ASU Commencement Ceremony and Many of there were at this hotel. Had the Steak Frites and it was perfectly cooked, wife had the pulled Pork Sandwich and it was huge and tasty, daughter and her husband had burgers, everything was very tasty. Server was very nice, just seemed a little overwhelmed by the number of people. Would recommend them if you are in the hotel and need a quick bite or just want to go out for something to eat. read more

The drinks are AWESOME, but the food is mediocre, overpriced, and so slow. This restaurant needs to hire more staff and speed up the service (over 1.5 hours for a 5-ingredient flat bread & a 3-ingredient taco). Three stars for the awesome server (Ashlii) and great drinks. read more

Stopped for a post-show drink with friends. The space is cute with windows that open to the sidewalk when the weather is nice. It's very cute inside and service was fine. We had high hopes for the drinks but two of them were so syrupy sweet that we didn't drink them. Seems like they have good ideas and good ingredients... lay off the sugar, guys. My cocktail would have been lovely without gobs of simple sugar. read more

Came by for after dinner drinks and dessert over the weekend and was really happy we decided on this place as the ambiance was perfect for date night. We selected a table to the side which remained quiet and secluded when the middle area by the bar got busy late at night. The Ibarra Chocolate Brownie S'more was a deconstructed dessert which was a pleasant suprise and tasted really good. The prickly pear flavor was a good twist to the traditional s'more. Drinks were good too and over all a good place to hang out and spend the evening. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. I really like the open dining at the sidewalk. Nice sun exposure. Being Sunday, no one was in the place at noon. I ordered the Sonoran hot dog and a salad. Creative ingredients piled around the main event, the large beef hot dog. Surprisingly, the bacon, avocado, cheese and beans did not overwhelm the hot dog. Bun was fresh too. Salad was nothing to write home about. Good value overall, for the price. read more
