I am beyond words after spending my birthday afternoon here. We had such a magical and relaxing experience. Every wine we tried was amazing and I'm kind of a wine snob so it's hard to impress me. The sparkling rose was my favorite white... semi dry with just the right amount of sweetness to it. The Zinfandel is a limited production of old vine zin that is absolutely perfect. Not too spicy, smooth velvety layers of fruit and a nice finish. Same with the Cabernet! The owner was hanging out and talked to us a bit as did the wine maker. You can tell he pays attention to every detail when making the wine including hand selecting the lots of grapes that get picked for their wines. The property is gorgeous and very relaxing and easy to spend the whole afternoon. The wines are all reasonable, under $30, we joined the wine club and look forward to revisiting all our favorites at home. read more

Exquisitely charming winery in Lodi where in spite of the strong winds, my friends and I relaxed and imbibed outside for over 4 hours without even realizing it. The portfolio includes a solid range of both whites and reds with less-often-seen varietals like Albarino and Petit Verdot. Owner and winemaker, Cassandra Durst, seems to prefer a lighter hand on her wines as the ABV is astonishingly low for the area - this lends to leaner flavor profiles across the board and I especially enjoyed the Sangiovese as it's one of the few in CA that that tastes like its Old World Italian counterparts. Speaking of Cassandra, she came out to greet us and chat a bit - such a down-to-earth and lovely woman. Her passion was so evident and we sincerely appreciated her hospitality. Likewise, the staff took excellent care of us and I appreciated our host's attentiveness to providing water, crackers, snack pairings and even rinses when transitioning from the whites to the reds. Lastly, the estate itself is gorgeous with gardens, plentiful seating for lounging and/or picnics and a huge lawn area to play. We were really disappointed when went to taste wine on Sunday. Unbeknownst to us they had a band playing. We only went to taste wine, not really interested in the band. We went in to taste and we were told we had to pay $10/person for the band when they only had an hour left to play. So long story short we decided to spend our money elsewhere. There are a lot of other wineries in the area that have live music on Sundays that don't require a cover charge. If their goal was to limit the number of people at the winery they certainly were successful. read more

Had my sister's wedding here. The owner of the winery let his dog run around during the ceremony and at one point was in the aisle until the photographer got the dog out of the way. Completely unprofessional for the owner do that during a wedding. read more

I love Durst. My roommates are wine club members so we come for most of their events. They host awesome events with food, live music, and lots of good wine often! I came in this week to taste with a friend and they were great about letting us hang out with their dogs and chill in the tasting room all afternoon by the fire. WE had a great time this past Saturday at Durst. I had thought I booked our group for a tasting, and when we arrived, they couldn't find us on the list but said come on in and we'll square you away. Stephanie was our hostess and she seated the 7 of us outside under the overhead covering and turned on the propane heater. After explaining how the tastings go we were off to races, and it was a great way to share with each other the vast array of wines that Durst has to offer. We were there for about 2+ hours and I had a chance to go inside and speak with the servers about the winery, the grapes and the business. All of us had a great time, we purchased some wine and we will definitely come back later this year when the weather is a little more cooperative. The one star is for the grounds which are lovingly kept and very well laid out. The tasting is 10.00 and for that price you get very stingy pours. This was our last stop on a five winery tour and we bought wines at every other winery except Durst. She was sporadic in her attendance and not very personable - kind of like it was an inconvenience to pour the tastings. We never even got our last tasting before we paid and left! read more

I don't usually get too excited by whites, but the two I tried were delicious! The reds were very solid. They have a few uncommon varietals too, which I really appreciate (like charbono and petit verdot). Beware of owner, doesn't reason and only knows how to talk. Horrible experience. Don't recommend for events. I tried my best to reason from my end, but all I got in response is an angry woman who was "insulted" in anything I had to say. She's tries to be down to earth and caring when everything goes her way, but soon as there's a hiccup she'll cut you off and tell you how appalled she is by you. Way to screw over a young, newly engaged couple. Says a lot about the conscience of this owner. Come here and taste some wine that she doesn't grow or know anything about. We visited Durst Winery virtually! For our wedding anniversary we bought their virtual wine tasting package. The wine was shipped to us from Chicago before the tasting. High pressure sales...wow! I went here with a friend for wine and chocolate weekend 2015 thinking this would be a nice place to come sip some wine and relax. There were at least 10 vendors with tables set up selling miscellaneous things such as purses, popcorn, jewelry, Tupperware etc. These vendors wouldn't leave us alone so that we can do what we came there for, taste wine. Even as I was walking out the door someone was following me trying to talk me into buying something before I left. I couldn't enjoy the wine and don't remember the wine at all, all I remember is trying to get away from the random sales people. Durst winery made a bad impression on me, it would probably be a good idea for them to not allow any outside vendors at their events and let the consumers see what their WINE is about. read more

This place is awesome!! We just kind of accidentally ended up here. There is a great atmosphere and super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Great for families too! While there is a friendly atmosphere inside; the outside invites you and the whole family to enjoy. Next time we come we will try their amazing pairing with a cupcake option (weekends only). I say its a must try! There is a variety of wine that every palette will enjoy. While my favorite is the Petit Verdot '13!! Cassandra the wine maker and Lori a wine educator are so awesome!!!! The Durst home is a Santa Barbara style revival beauty surrounded my majestic redwoods and graceful date palms spacious green lawns and colorful shrubs and flowers. As you travel down the gravel drive to the Winery you will be greeted by Gracie and Jack the family labs. Durst is a dog friendly establishment so be sure to bring your buddies along for a doggy treat! The staff is warm and welcoming. You will feel like part of the family the minute you walk through the doors. A tasting consists of five wines of your choosing and the tasting fee will go toward your purchase when you buy a bottle. The winery has a beautiful patio and the grounds are nice. But that's where the compliments stop, wine isn't anything to write home about and the staff was rather short with us. They are dog friendly but they don't do wine on the patio, which makes everyone have to stay indoors when the patio is where it's at. You can find a better selection somewhere else. read more

Wines are good but nothing spectacular. Kind of pricey but not outrageous. Beautiful grounds even with the dog who aggressively begs. My issue with this place is when my wife and I were there the owner pretty much treated one of her employees like she was an idiot. That employee was treating us and a few others very well. In fact we were thinking of joining the wine club until that happened. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

Stumbled upon this winery over the weekend and was not disappointed. It's a little off the beaten path, but the grounds are beautiful with lush greenery and huge trees. We were visiting from out of town and came upon the winery by mistake. We are glad we found this hidden gem. The wines are great and the personal attention we received from the winemaker was extraordinary.
