I looked at purchasing a used Suburban. The salesman could not/would not tell me about any mechanical issues, although he did let me take it home to my mechanic. It turns out the vehicle needed a new transmission. I gave him the vehicle report and never heard back. On the plus side, he was nice enough. The young manager was dismissive, and offered 1/4 for my trade in than what it is worth. He said that was because of high miles, even though I was looking at a vehicle with only 10,000 more miles. I was unimpressed. read more

I bought a used 2015 Scion recently (not from Dgo Motor Co), and a half hour after driving off the lot, got an engine check light. The car had 135 k miles, but ran smooth as silk and with plenty of power. But I wanted it right, so I paid Durango Motor Company $152.00 to diagnose the problem. They told me the catalytic converter was going bad. They also did a 21 point check of the car to see if anything else needed attention. They offered to repair the cat for $1040.85, plus a $25.00 shop fee. They also pointed-out 13 other items they said needed addressing for a total of $3447.36 including the cat replacement. I went home, and started checking the car over myself (I'm a decent shade-tree mechanic). They recommended changing the cabin air filter and engine air filter for $70.00: BOTH ARE BRAND NEW! They recommended a brake fluid flush ($149.00). Brakes had just been completely rebuilt, and fluid was brand new. They recommended a front differential service, a rear differential service, an auto transmission flush, and a transfer case service for $829.80. In fact, the car DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ANY OF THESE COMPONENTS. It's a front wheel drive car with a transaxle.... One unit. NOT four different 4 wheel drive components. And the transmission fluid is bright red & smells like it should. No service on the transaxle was actually needed (service manual says "inspect" at this mileage.... not replace), but if you decided to do one just 'cause you wanted new fluid, the book says 1.1 hrs labor plus parts/fluid... should be just over $200.00 (NOT $349.95 as they recommended. They wanted $195.00 to replace the serpentine belt. The one that's in it is obviously brand new. They recommended plug replacement for $202.00. The car runs, as I said, smooth as silk, and the manual does NOT recommend replacement at this mileage. And it's clear from lack of tool marks they did NO plug inspection to check physical condition. They recommended a coolant flush for $220.00. Coolant was at appropriate level, clean, and smelled right. No leaks in system. Manual says "inspect". They just wanted to replace. They recommended a throttle body service and "induction flush" for $328.51. Manual doesn't even recommend inspection at this point, unless you are having performance and/or mileage issues. Car is running like a top. Nothing to indicate service needed. The service they said the car needed for a mere $2381.51 OVER the cost of replacing the defective cat, would have been more likely to be recommended for my 2001 Tundra with 283,000 miles on it. At least my Tundra actually HAS the components they were going to charge me to service. I'd have thought they gave me the recommendation sheet for some other customer's car by mistake... but in fact, the car's VIN is prominently displayed on it. I don't know if I can actually file a consumer affairs complaint with the Attorney General's office without actually having contracted the work and been defrauded, but I'm going to look into it. Someone with less mechanical know-how and experience could be taken to the cleaners by these guys. read more

And the award for the WORST BUSINESS in Durango goes to: DURANGO MOTOR COMPANY! The Service Department doesn't have a clue how to book an appointment without messing it up, over and over again. Their mobile service was launched at a time when there is no infrastructure to support it. The folks at Service don't even know it exists, even though they started it two months ago. The left hand has no idea what the right one is doing. No way to run a customer-oriented business. They're just great at selling you a car, but have no expectations beyond that. None whatsoever. The way they treat customers is appalling and not seen anywhere else. read more

Great experience working with Garrett Black. The car buying experience was positive and Garrett made the process (typically as much fun as having a tooth pulled), enjoyable. Garrett wears running shoes at work for a reason. He actually runs from place to place putting the deal together. I was exhausted after the transaction from watching him get so much exercise. I would have liked to have gotten a bit more for my Jeep trade in but wouldn't we all like to have more? Seriously, Garrett has sales skills beyond what you would expect for someone in his early 20's. Ask for Garrett if you go in. read more

Overall, I try to avoid getting my 2 Toyotas and Ford worked on at Durango Motor Company. The first time I had a new FOB ordered and when I took into to get it programed, it took them an hour, and after they drained the battery, to figure out that the FOB was bad. Took 2 hours to get 1 FOB programmed. The second time I brought my Ford in for warranty work on my new transmission after it started to leak. They said they did the work, but it continued to leak. I ended up having to drive it 7 hours to a different Toyota Dealer in Denver to get it fixed... turns out that the paint on the bolts wasn't even cracked, meaning they never did the work in the first place. The 3rd time involved getting a simple oil change done with a scheduled appointment time for my 2017 Toyota 4Runner... they let it sit outside the checkin bay for 45 minutes before I took the key back and left. My advice, if you like your car, go somewhere else... either to a good shop in town or a dealer out of town. read more

My wife and I bought a Toyota Certified 2016 Tacoma from Durango Motor Company on 8/13/18 and I have nothing but good things to say about this dealership. First off, we got an amazing deal on this used truck. We had the pleasure of doing business with Travis Dorzok (internet sales) . He made our buying experience hassle free and super easy. He was very responsive and forthright to my emails and questions. I had to travel 400+ miles to pick up the truck. They overnighted the paperwork we needed to fill out and I was able to take it on the plane to the dealership. When I arrived at the airport, Travis picked me up in my soon to be new truck. We drove to the dealership and I was ready to hit the road home in less than 30 minutes. I had a wonderful experience at Durango Motor Company and would seriously consider doing business here again. Update: I'm having to jump through hoops in order to get my truck registered in NM. First I was told that that the title clerk at Durango forgot to send "power of attorney" paperwork only after sitting in the DMV for over an hour. Come to find out they did send it, but forgot to sign it. So now I have to go back into the DMV and have them send it back to Durango..... WARNING!! Make (double) sure Durango has their "ducks in a row" when it comes to the paperwork. read more

5 hours and 7 minutes of waiting, with a kid I might add, to get 6 new tires put in my dually and I had an appointment - it's not like I was a walk in or something. They made a couple of excuses - wheels were seized on, they couldn't put my 1 ton truck on a lift so they had to use a jack on each wheel etc. That adds 10 minutes tops... The job should have taken two hours but it took five. They told me three times over a two hour period that it would only be another 25 minutes. Even the employees thought it was ridiculous. I don't know what they were doing but they weren't working on my tires so they're either incompetent or lying. You decide. I'll give every other tire shop in the surrounding area a try before I go back to Durango Motor Company. read more

9/6/19 EDIT: 9 months after bringing up the car issues, the car has finally been repaired. However, I will not be changing my star review. The way we were treated by DMC for 9 months was incredibly unprofessional. Within 12 hours of posting my original review, we were contacted by DMC to take this review down or change it. It's almost humorous how quickly DMC responded to a negative review, before even beginning to work on the car, when we were ignored for 9 months, causing the car to go into transmission failure. I co-signed a car last November and have had nothing but issues since. The car began to show issues shortly after purchasing, and despite the multiple attempts to communicate with DMC , we were ignored. When we were spoken to, we were told it was "fine" and to "not worry". When we brought up the fact that the model was under a recall list, we were told we didn't qualify and again not to worry. When the car began to display clear transmission failure, which was what the recall was about, we were told again "not to worry". Now the car is in 100% transmission failure and is undrivable. We were forced to rent are car out of pocket for a day before DMC supplied us with a rental. We also have had to take time off work to fix this issue, and a trip out of state was cancelled due to this failure. We are out over $200 for issues that are covered under our terms and service with DMC. Immediately after posting this review, I will be contacting the Better Business Burea to report this unprofessional behavior and how they handled our situation, resulting in unnecessary distress and fees read more

Working with Conan, John, and Paul made my frustrating car shopping experience less stressful. Paul, was able to get the biggest trade-in for my car, and Conan worked with me for a few weeks to help me get a car that fit my needs. I brought my 2019 Toyota RAV4 in for a known problem with a roof leak at the roof rack mount, which I explained to Durango Motor Company upon drop-off. This problem with RAV4s has been well documented so the technicians should be well aware of the issue and were only asked to provide pricing for repair. I was told that they could repair the issue by replacing the entire roof rack system for $2,300 or they could seal/gasket the holes for $900. I said no thank you and they handed me a bill for $142 for unneeded diagnostics and doing absolutely nothing to address the roof leak issue. Thanks Durango Motor Company. read more

My husband and I went into DMC to look at Ford Lincoln. We had been in before and spoke with Anthony. We weren't ready to buy at that time. We received a call from Anthony about a month later to see if he could help locate a car for us. No pressure! When we went back in to the dealership Anthony was busy helping another customer so Seth helped us until Anthony was available. They don't work on commission they work as a team. Great business plan! We ended up with the Lincoln MKX. Love it! Big thanks to Anthony, Seth and William! read more

I purchased a car from this company and have had nothing but issues with the AC system from the start. Had the compressor replaced and them the hvac sensor "went Bad" They will not stand behind their work or the inspection when I bought the vehicle. Took a month to get in to look at and was told it would be $1,000 to fix. Repair associate was completely disengaged and seemed completely disinterested that I had continued issues from a vehicle purchased from them. I would recommend staying as far away from this company as possible. There customer service and approach is despicable. read more

I went today with my girlfriend to Durango Motor Company. She went there to buy a used Kia Soul. I must say, I was very impressed with the entire experience. It was easy, comfortable, and there were no high-pressure sales tactics. I should say that I've spent a lot of time in car dealerships selling car insurance to new car owners. I've seen all the tricks, and many resemble murder interrogations. This was nothing like that very typical car-buying experience. The price was the price. There was no haggling, and they didn't ask what they could do to earn her business today. In fact, they pretty much had her business before she even walked in the door. They pre-approved her for the loan, and they estimated what her trade-in vehicle was worth, answered all her questions, and followed up without being pushy. When she walked in the door, it was mostly just going through the formality of the test drive, the final appraisal of the trade-in, and the paperwork. It was easy and painless, and we were out of there in about an hour and a half. I had no idea buying a car could be such a pleasant process. I recommend Durango Motor Company without hesitation. read more

They "forgot" to collect city tax from us, it was $800 to get tags for our van, it should have been in damn financing! The worse part is that I had to call then 3 times and was always told I would get a call back, when I did after the third attempt I was left a voicemail stating there is nothing they can do! I know a lot of people in the area and some other salespeople around and trust me I spread the word that they are not worth going to. So the GM called us and apologized for the mistake, they sent us a check to pay for the taxes that we had to pay out of pocket. Thank you for correcting the mistake and resolving the issue. It shows that you really want 100% satisfaction from your customers. read more

A BIG shout out to Brendon Tacke and the team at Durango Value Auto Sales! I dislike car shopping and even more dislike the entire purchasing process. My past experiences with purchasing a car have been dealing with salesman who do not listen, who are not genuine and are clearly only looking to sell a car. Then the negotiation and financing has always been extremely long and painful. I was very lucky to find Brendon. He was very genuine, he listened, he was patient, he took time to answer any question I had and most importantly he was HONEST. Because of all these values he immediately earned my trust. Then Noland and Mike were very diligent and fast to help secure our financing. It was the best car buying experience I've ever had. This place was hands down amazing! I don't even live in Colorado yet Cohen and team made the entire purchasing and delivery process more smooth than even the local dealers could have! This dealership is 7hrs from me but the way they treated me, the deals they offered, and the service they provided made it feel like we had been neighbors for years. Honestly I didn't even think it would work to buy a car from an out of state dealer without ever seeing it in person yet turns out it was the easiest and best offer I had. I recently purchased a used vehicle from Durango Motor Company. Cassie and India handled this transaction. This place is great. We were traveling from Texas when my F250 started making a strange sound. I had just had it serviced before our trip so I was confident everything would be OK. I called Durango Ford and described my problem. They said it was most likely a fuel filter that was causing the noise. It should have been replaced at my last service but was overlooked by my dealer. PLEASE READ..If you are thinking of taking you vehicle to get fixed at Durango Motor Company you need to know this fact. The service department is paid on commission, yes you read that right. So you need to question every single charge as they tried to RIP ME OFF in the worst way. If you talk with Josh or Mike you will be ripped off. I took my truck in for a o2 sensor, Josh told me I should replace BOTH of my o2 sensors because the computer cant tell which one is not working so I said to Josh why would I need to replace a perfectly good working part? Josh told me the computer can not tell which one is bad so you replace them both and that is complete total LIES. He said that because he's paid on commission thats why. The total price he gave me was over 1100 dollars to fix the issue. So I went on Rock Auto and the Toyota o2 sensor is 149 delivered, Josh wanted to charge me 340 for the o2 sensor so that is over a 100% mark up and looks good for Josh's commission check. Then Josh told me it would be 2 hours of labor. So I googled "how long to change a o2 sensor on a 2012 Tundra, Toyota said its take all of 10 min to change the o2 sensor and 10 min to program the computer and I should be charged 1/2 a hour of labor..That would of been fair the right thing to do, but since Josh gets paid on commission he wanted 340 for each o2 sensor so over 700 dollars and 2 hours of labor yes 2 hours. Why ? Because the more he can rip you off the more he can make. I said I cant believe what you are trying to charge me and Josh then said if you dont like it come pick up your truck ..so I did..I ordered the part for 149 and changed it myself its a plug and one screw and it really take less than 10 min and I saved myself over 1000 dollar that Durango Motor wanted to rip me off for..So if you want to take your vehicle to DMC after reading this one, thats not very smart but if you do ask if they are paid on commission and know the parts will be marked up well over 100% and you will get RIP OFF just like they tried to do to me and I cant imagine how many clients they have done the same thing to..Good Luck and if you ask for Mike the manager he will laugh at you and will do nothing. read more

Durango Motor Company - Car Dealers Near Me - Durango, Colorado

This complaint applies to the Value Auto Division of the company. I was interested in buying a 2004 Toyota Avalon from Durango Value Auto. However, when I got it inspected by my mechanic there were several major issues with the car that were not mentioned. To list the major three: the car was in a front end collision, the catalytic converter was damaged (mechanic said it looked like someone tried to steal it), the right inner tie rod is worn and needs replacement which is a safety issue(you could lose steering). There were several other issues too. I tried to negotiate with Cadence and his manager but they wouldn't negotiate the price. The Manager de-emphasize these issues stating "the car is still in good condition for a 20 year old car" and "the mechanic is likely looking for way to make money". I especially didn't appreciate the manager's comments, so I calmly told them thank you for your time but I cannot by the car for the price considering the condition of some of the components. I do not believe they followed their values listed on their website such as " The Value of Honesty and Integrity" as they said it was inspected by their mechanics and they did not see anything wrong with the car. If they did negotiate then we would've had a different outcome. Thank you for taking the time to read. read more

There is a reason why this dealership has fewer stars than others. For starters while I was in the dealership waiting I saw firsthand how sales staff led by manager, India D, literally laugh at and fleece customers who purchase from them. Complete disrespect was shown while talking about two separate customers who had purchased vehicles from them earlier that day. Based on India's comments I think she guided them to a successful bait and switch strategy in a very dishonest manner. This manager should not be leading any staff much less have any position of trust in a business. Terrible! On the repair/service side be sure and take all of you personal possessions out of the car before turning it over to them or things will go "missing". My advice is to both buy a vehicle elsewhere and have it serviced elsewhere. read more

I appreciate the time you took to track me down, call me, and try to resolve the issue, but as mentioned in our telephone conversation, I am by now back on the road continuing our USA tour and in Kentucky headed for Tenneessee. I am pleased that this incident came to light and that there is a contingiency plan for people like me in place now so nobody else gets turned away. The mark of a solid business is not in whether or not mistakes were made, invariably they will be made, but how the business handles those mistakes. While it's too late to change my situation, should I ever find myself in Durango needing service for my Ford again, I would at least give you another chance. Thank you for calling. Bill read more

Let me start by saying, the sales people are nice and knowledgeable but that's where it stops. We have lived in Durango since 1979 and we have always tried to keep our business local but unfortunately we do not wish to spend thousands of dollars more just to say we purchased here in Durango. That being said, Durango Motors say they have a "no hassle" price but sadly, their price was $2,911 more for almost the identical car that we found online at Mountain States Toyota! I had no idea we were paying so much for the same car until the manager came in and offered $4,400 below my trade in value. This raised suspicion, so after consulting other dealers we realized Durango Motors was way overpriced and found a true "no hassle" dealer. I'm sorry DMC but I'm not willing to give up $7,311 to keep my business local, I'll make the trip to Denver! As far as their online service I have one word, awful. Of the 3 cars we were interested in, 1 had been sold 6 months earlier (according to the sales person) and the other 2 had been sold the day before. Hmm, suspect at best. By the way, you may be thinking we were looking for a very expensive car but we weren't. We purchased a Rav4 limited. So buyer beware and once again, a Durango business trying to take advantage of a local...shame on you Durango Motor Co. read more
