This place has the worst customer service. I came in for an eyebrow tint and they dyed my eyebrows a completely different color than my hair. I came home and scrubbed the entire thing off and asked for a refund. The lady hung up the phone on me and told me if I wanted a refund I would have to come ask in person. I cannot stress enough how rude the people who work here are and how incompetent they are at their jobs. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I have been here a few times and it has been hit or miss. I have never had bad service, so it waffles somewhere between "meh, I've had better" and "this is the best I've ever had." It truly depends on who the tech is that does your brows. I have had the older woman (that I believe is the owner or manager) and two different younger women. Once I left telling everyone it was the best I've ever looked, but the last time I had to come home and do some plucking on my own. I docked a star because this last time, as I do with all new techs that touch my brows, I laid it all out for her and took a few extra seconds checking her work and that I liked the shape before I had her move on to the other brow. I saw her scoff and roll her eyes at me. I learned later that she was new and was having the older woman come check her work, so I'm not sure why she seemed affronted by my double-checking. This was a younger woman that I didn't recognize from my previous visits. I will be back and be more careful about which tech takes my appointment. read more

Due to a horrible threading experience at Union Station, I had to let my brows grow out in order to be corrected. Needless to say, they grew full force! Based on the reviews, I decided to try this place. I was a walk-in and was seated immediately. My technician (I hate I didn't get her name) was very professional. I explained why I had what I'm sure looked like two furry caterpillars above my eyeballs and what I wanted. She threaded my brows perfectly. I've regularly had my eyebrows threaded for 8 yrs. now and have never had a less painful or faster experience. I felt nothing. She's a miracle worker! Great shape and I was in and out in under 10 min.! This will definitely be my new threading location! (I promise to get her name next time) My one and only negative is nothing was put on my brows afterwards. I'll just ask next time. read more

They did a good job. I was here on a Saturday afternoon and I waited about 5 minutes before I was taken care of. I was in and out probably within 10 minutes total (including the wait, threading and checkout)--these ladies know what they're doing. She didn't really ask my preference and just went for it--usually that works, but my shape is a little more round than I'd hoped. I've had my eyebrows threaded for cheaper in Arlington, but for the middle of DC, I think this is very affordable. read more

Great price and an excellent way to quickly clean up your brows. I went in for just brow threading, to try and clean up and arch my brows - and believe me, it's been a while! They were efficient and professional, and I think they finished cleaning and arching my brows within 5 minutes. And they did a great job. they put a bit of oil after they finished doing my brows too, and it helped my skin from turning as red. Quick and effective and cheap brow services. Meh. There was no wait when I arrived after work on a weekday. I communicated to the artist who worked on me what I wanted and she seemed to understand. Her style was quite painful. I don't usually feel pain when getting threaded, I have a high tolerance. But this young lady put a lot of pressure while threading and made a small tear in my skin, which left a small scab. The shape was also not what I wanted and she didn't listen to my request. Hair grows back so I let her know I was unsatisfied but paid for the service and left a standard tip. A couple of months ago, there was all this talk on Yelp about threading. I kept thinking to myself..."What the heck is threading!?" and "Why is it so great?" I now know the answers to these questions. My first experience with threading was at the Yelp Election Night event. I was impressed at how Nitasha was able to clean up my eyebrows in the lowly lit Darlington House so I figured I'd give this whole threading thing another go at her salon. I showed up on a Saturday afternoon around 1300 hours and walked out around 1315. There was no wait when I arrived though as I was threaded, I heard more girls come in. I sat in the comfy chair and layed back as Nitasha went to work. She was quick and precise. After she finished, she gave my brows a quick comb and put some sort of lotion over the area that was now hair-free. Now, I have very little (to no) experience with waxing but I'll go out on a limb and say that threading is way less painful. I can totally see why women prefer threading! When I paid, I was given a card that they punch each time you come. After 10 visits, you get a free threading. Win! You may not notice the space if you get in and out quickly - but it's very nicely decorated and there's always incense burning. If you actually have to wait (which is rare unless you hit up DT at a peak time), the couch is comfy and the waiting area is pleasant. To sum it up: Very impressed. Now a convert for life. I just recently started to prefer threading over waxing. Whether you rip the skin off my face with wax or pluck it off with tweezers OR snatch it out with a thread. It really all feels the same to me at this point. But as the overdone, over drawn eyebrows take front seat in our beauty scene- I've slowly backed into the shadows and prefer to have my eyebrows thick and a lil' bushy- but in a neat way. To be completely honest, I have had my eyebrows threaded way better in the past. But Natasha did a good job given the circumstances. The circumstances are- they were crazy busy. I made a 6:45pm appointment and when I walked in, there were 6 women waiting! Natasha was nice because she honored my appointment and I did not have to wait. Thank God because I probably would have left. She was rushed, but did an okay job. Next time I will schedule an appointment on my day off and go early in the morning when we can have "alone time" and she can get to know my eyebrows and perfect them. read more

But I'm happy to chime in with my love and sheer indebtedness to DuPont Threading in the hopes that you don't wait as long as I did knowing about Nitasha and her employees but not bothering to visit. Why I'm singing DuPont Threading's accolades: First, timeliness. I've never had to wait more than ten minutes to hop into a chair - even on a weekend. I'm terrible at making appointments. I love being able to walk in and go. Second, friendliness. Unlike other threading establishments, I don't feel like I'm being laughed at, or annoying the threader with my mere presence. The atmosphere is always laid back and the women who work here are always sweet. Third, price. It's $18 for eyebrow & lip threading. Up the street it's $23. While I wish the pricing was as good as New York City's ($10!), DuPont Threading has a frequent visitor card that entitles you to a free service after ten visits. Fourth, results. I've gone to a few different threading spots but (somewhat thankfully) no one has really noticed until I went to DuPont Threading. A girlfriend - you know, the girlfriend who you used to ask for help with makeup in high school? who has perfect eyebrows? - stopped mid-conversation to compliment my eyebrows. Walk in, sit in chair for 5 minutes, feel a little 'pluck pluck pluck' and feel your hairs fall onto your face, look in mirror and have 2 eyebrows instead of 1, pay $12, be happy. This place is in a creaky old basement that's accessible through a dingy little alley, but I am totally okay with that! I've only come for eyebrow threading, and I don't see myself going anywhere else, even after I move. I've been getting my eyebrows waxed since I was 14 (?!) and I 110% prefer threading now. It's faster, far less painful, and looks more natural (e.g. your skin isn't ripped off and raw for days). read more

I'm a big fan. Nitasha really knows eyebrows and the best shape for your face. She was able to work with my sparse little caterpillars, working around areas they still need to grow in, and finishing with tweezers. She also gave me tips on how to grow them in more and was super quick. I went at 6:15pm on a Wednesday and there was a 15-20 minute wait, which is not bad because the space is very clean, with bright cheerful walls and sparkly little decorations. I quite enjoyed my wait, to be honest, because there were some very old magazines to page through, as well as a great Bollywood movie playing on a tiny LCD screen, in which a good-looking couple in matching stripy scarves leaped and twirled through the streets of Toronto, singing songs of love. I'm not sure there's much merit to making an appointment, since Nitasha seems to be the only one there to both manage the business and do the threading, so I don't think she really keeps track of the appointments. However, she did give priority to those who had made appointments earlier. Apparently, there will be another lady coming in to help out with threading next week. Dupont Threading is not as cheap as NYC, where I could get my eyebrows and upper lip done for $13 including tip, although I certainly think that Nitasha is a lot more thorough and a lot better at shaping than the ladies I used to go to in New York (A Perfect Shape, Park and 23rd). I am a convert forever. I have always waxed, and no matter where I went and how much or how little I spent, I'd get the dreaded "Klingon effect" afterwards. Yes, Klingon as in the Star Trek warrior race with the prominent forehead ridges. I started calling it that because seconds after waxing, the skin around and above my eyes would turn red, swell up, and stay that way for hours. I had to hide at home for the remainder of the day to avoid terrifying small children. But not with threading! I came in on a whim around 11 AM on Saturday. Nitasha did my brows and lip within 15 minutes with really great results - my eyebrows still looked like my eyebrows, but better! And best of all, my skin didn't react at all! I will definitely be going back. No more Klingon forehead for this girl. Nitasha charges $12 for eyebrows, $6 for upper lip, and $40 for the entire face. read more
