I had to get rid of some old paint from my house and they were the closest. I checked online and found a list of places that accept old/used paint for disposal. I called before to see if would accept my paint. A nice girl answered the phone and I told her I had twelve gallon cans. She checked and told me they had plenty of room and I could come anytime. They are located conveniently off the freeway and in a moderately sized strip mall. They are located all the way in the back of the mall which meant great parking and less cross traffic. I drove around to the back of the store to see if there was anything that looked like a drop-off point. There was a large garage door sized opening and someone was back there working. I parked my car and went up to the gentleman who informed me I could park my car right in front of the opening and he would help me unload the pain. I backed my car right up to the door opening and opened the hatch. The man came over and helped me take all the pain cans out and after it was all unloaded, he thanked me and said he would take care of it from there. Sadly, it seems rare these days when you find a business that is willing to help out and be so nice about it. I didn't need to pick up any paint, but because of this experience, the next time I need any paint I'm sure to come to this store based upon the great customer service. read more

Multiple terrible experiences with this company. 1. Had a store credit that they refused to honor after 6 months (did not tell me it had an expiration date). 2. Called and asked for some paint to be mixed for pick up. They said they don't normally mix in advance. Since I said I was a repeat customer, they agreed, took down my name and said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. When I got to the store, I paid for the paint, and then they went in the back to mix it. When I asked why they hadn't done it, the very rude man (actually boy) at the counter replied that they don't mix in advance. 3. The attitude of the salespeople here is very bad. 4. They are way overpriced. Three gallons of paint cost $210. I will never be visiting any Dunn-Edwards paint again. read more

Sophia really went above and beyond to help us today. Our painter used Dunn Edwards to paint the exterior of our house about a year ago. We needed some touch-up paint. and unfortunately we didn't remember the sheen or specific type of paint that was used. Sophia spent about a half hour with us combing through all of our painter's orders from the timeframe that our house was painted until she found the order that had our paint on it. My wife and I are having a good portion of the interior of our house re-painted. We wanted to lighten up the wall colors and took a paint sample of an existing room. Trisha showed us different samples that we liked, and then she added a sample of "Daydream", but we thought it wasn't what we were looking for. Nonetheless, we took that sample home with us with the other samples. While Daydream was not our favorite color in the store, it was the perfect color in our house!!! Terrible customer service! I will not be coming back and will instead buy the paint I needed at a different Dunn Edwards. Guy at the counter should not be in the customer service industry. Super rude, bad attitude, acts like you're bothering him and/or acts as if I'm asking stupid questions (they weren't.. I know about paint ..) . Just went to this place and was told I couldn't enter. Right next door is Gelson's where you can enter and do your shopping. Why is that? Does this retail paint store think its clientele are more likely to transmit coronavirus than a Gelson's customer? lol Sounds like a racist policy to me. I am done with them. You can shop IN THE STORE at all Home Depots, and they have all the painting supplies you need. And the rude woman that answered my call for a product called "Easy Mask" told me they had it, then when I got there was told no they don't have it. A complete waste of time all around. read more

I gave this location a call the other day for assistance in purchasing paint for my home. The member who assisted me was very helpful and attentive towards my needs. Although I didn't end up driving to Del Mar (remodel was postponed due to pandemic) I will definitely visit this location once we jumpstart our home renovation. I had a great experience here picking out colors and buying paint this past weekend. My young son enjoyed playing with wooden blocks on a table and we found the perfect paint for our front door. They even helped us pick out brushes and rollers that would work with our paint. The paint quality is excellent. I previously used the best Home Depot Behr paint, which was like water. It was awful and looked horrible when I was done. The Dunn Edwards is very high solids and covers much better and dries smooth. Two coats is all it took. With the water downed Home Depot stuff, I had to put on four coats and it still did not cover fully and it showed every brush stroke. Dunn Edwards paint is more expensive but well worth it in my opinion. read more

We are in the process of painting the exterior of our home and we were struggling with color choices. Our painter recommended Dunn Edwards which we have used in the past, but it is so expensive we have hesitated to use it again. However, we do know that it is an excellent product. We needed help with the color and we were told of the color expert at the Del Mar store. Well, that was the best advice we could have been given! Dante helped us tremendously, providing renderings of our home with different color palettes and suggestions to make our home both standout, and "fit" in with the style of our home. He is a professional and his customer service is outstanding. We will definitely tell our painter to proceed with their paint and we will be coming back to this store when we have our next painting project. read more

Paint quality is good but staff are painful. Called ahead so that we wouldn't be waiting for the paint to be mixed with Covid and all. That meant calling twice as first time I gave up after being on hold for 20 minutes. Second time was on hold for 12 minutes. Placed the order for 1 gallon of paint in specific color. Showed up at the store 5 hours later and nothing had been done. Was told it would take 10 minutes. Thinking I'm on to them, went to get groceries first. Came back THIRTY minutes later and STILL waited another 20 minutes to get the paint. Bloody ridiculous. read more

Will shop at Encinitas store with much better ratings even though it is twice the distance or just stick with Home Depot. I went to this store looking for a specific paint color that a designer recommended. They were out of sample chips, so I approached the guy behind the register saying hello. A few minutes went by when he finally looked up and gave me a look a disgust like I had interrupted him solving an advanced calculus equation. He then says, "Do you need something?" No, I am just here soaking up the industrial ambiance of your store, is what I wanted to say. Instead, I politely told him they were out of chips for the paint I wanted to see. He could not of been more put out. He couldn't even show me the paint on a color wheel. So I no choice but to order a sample. Big mistake. 20 minutes later, still no sample. Mind you, no one else was in the store. A full 30 minutes later someone from the back brings out the sample and sets it front of the register. Again, not a word from the sales guy. Unbelievably bad customer service. Next time, I will go back to Sherman Williams, where I am always pleasantly greeted and assisted by Danielle. She actually wants to help her customers. read more

After reading previous reviews, I thought twice about going here, even though it is convenient. I'm pleased to report that my experience was great. During each of my 3 trips there, I found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The first time, I received help with colors and materials. The next time, when I ordered, the sales person (who had actually been a painter) helped me choose the right product for the application and gave me tips on coverage so I wouldn't buy too much. When I came back to pick up a color that had to be matched to my sample, the sales person who helped me remembered me from the previous visit. She also noticed a mistake on my receipt and gave me a refund. I am very satisfied with this store. read more

Really nice! I ducked into the store on Sunday morning hoping to get some paper painters hats to wear during our time at the fair. They were out, but they simply gave me more expensive hats made out of fabric that worked perfectly! Really helpful and very thoughtful. read more
