This store has E V E R Y T H I N G!!! If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask one of the guys and they'll find it for you. There's so much goodness in this store. I actually haven't been in for a while since I don't live that way anymore, but I intend to get back there asap jjst so I can feel what it's like to be in a REAL hardware store again. They actually carry hardware, which the big box stores almost stopped carrying. Anyway, I can't recommend this store enough. If you need anything from a screw to a light fixture, they likely will be able to hook you up! Oh, and their prices are awesome too WE NEED TO SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS AND ALL SMALL BUSINESSES. It's so important. read more

You are in a rush. It's that Monday morning kind. Yet this hardware store has been a local staple without your presence. With swagger going within. You meet two cool dudes that know your friend. They treat you right and get your items made. Walked out quickly with 9 of these lightening my load. Wouldn't have changed anything. These dudes were awesome and I'll be back. (: read more

These service here is amazing. I've been going here for over 20 years and they always go above and beyond helping me fix things or even recommendations doing various projects. They have a decent variety of what is needed yet they are small enough I'm not searching around endlessly. Excellent spot and excellent staff read more

I needed my battery changed on my key fob. Kevin changed the battery right then and there, no appointment, no questions asked. Excellent!! read more

This my favorite hardware store in San Diego! It's small, but mighty in that they almost always have what I need at very reasonable prices. The staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Before I buy anywhere else I go here first. They are locally owned and operated, which makes me feel even better. I've been shaping here for 10+ years now and everybody feels like family at this point...almost like the Cheers of hardware stores. Thank you :) read more

You need what? They probably have it somewhere. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of all things hardware. If you don't see what you're looking for, they'll have it almost guaranteed. read more

Yard worker and handy man is the fields is why I was there. Kevin and Jose and all the employees know there store very well. Keep up the great work. read more

Wow this place is a blast from the past. When you enter this place it's like you're in the twilight zone.....Good Old fashioned service here. Just ask any employee what you're looking for and you'll be guided through the maze of products and directed to exactly what you're looking for...just like that. Oh yeah and no huge lines like when you're shopping at Home Depot. The prices are very reasonable as well. This place is a hidden secret but hey...Now you know. Great place, Great Service and Great prices, Great selection....What else could you ask for? read more

I was thrilled to find a mom & pop hardware store in North Park! I went it and casually perused most of the aisles, getting an idea of the different products they offered (they have a little bit of everything). I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, I like to peruse the items like some people would at a bookstore. Anyway as I started to make my way to the counter to buy some wildflower seeds and ant poison, the large hulk of a middle aged or older man stood blocking my path to the register, scowling at me like I was up to no good. He slowly moved out of the way so I could look at some of the items behind him on a rack, then quietly asked a guy from the back to come out and keep an eye on me. So the new guy immediately seemed annoyed with Me, very directly and with no friendliness in his voice at all "what are you up to man?!" I reply "not much, what's going on with you man ?" He presses me "what do you need" so I explain to him an issue I'm having with a door hinge and he rudely tells me I'm looking at the wrong product. I explained to him that i liked the store because it seemed like a small business and not Home Depot or Lowe's and that I like to support small biz. He was not impressed. Never a smile, never a thanks for shopping with us. These guys told me they own the building so maybe that's why they treat customers like dirt? I won't return. I'll find another small biz hardware store to support. I read some of the other low star reviews and noticed that some of them suspected the workers here to be somewhat prejudiced against POC but I am often accused of being Caucasian and I'm thinking these guys just aren't into customer service and human kindness. read more

North Park hardware is a fantastic, no frills hardware store where everyone working there knows what they're talking about. It's my go to place for when I'm in need of people who have actual fixed or built things in their lives versus employees within a clue at other places. I recommend them completely. read more

Is it ACE hardware, no, is it Lowe's, no, is it Home Depot, no. North Park Hardware is just your neighborhood hardware store. It's not large where you can get lost, it's small, friendly, and to the point You shop, ask for help, then leave, no fuss and no mess. read more

I like to shop local. It makes sense, not only supporting local establishments but better for the environment as well. Whenever I go to Northpark hardware I'm never disappointed! They have almost any random thing you could be looking for if you can't find it they'll help you. Lived in North Park almost 20 years this is always my go to thanks guys for always being there. read more

Old school hardware store with 98% of what you need . The staff has always helped me find what I need.

This is one of the original hardware stores of days gone bye. If walking by stop in and buy something, when these stores are gone they will never come back. This is living history of North Park and should be kept as is due to its original historical example of great times. read more

A place where can can find what you are looking for that most box stores don't bother to carry.

Bought a cooking weight scale. Not what I expected so I returned it 5 days later. Was told it is a "tool" so no returns accepted unless it's store credit. That is ridiculous. I do not need store credit. Will dispute with my credit card company. Be careful when shopping here. read more

They don't allow returns on tools, even after wasting our money on a cheap set that broke mid-use.

This is a no frills hardware store. They have everything you need and more. I can't tell you how many times I've had a situation that no other place was able to help with on such short notice including tonight's purchase of sand bags and 50lb bags of sand for the stormageddon this holiday weekend. read more

Long time North Park resident giving a shout out to North Park Hardware. Love these guys. They always have what I'm looking for and have so many items in that space (it's like Mary Poppins' bag - things just materialize). Employees are friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable. NP Hardware has been a great community resource for decades and I appreciate them so much. Thanks for the great job you do, guys!! read more

My favorite hardware store of ALL TIME!!! I've been shopping this store for 10 years. At first I thought it was too small to have what I need. I was wrong! This little store never ceases to amaze me because 99.9% of the time they have everything I need. After 10 years, this hardware store feels like an episode of the TV show "Cheers" because everybody knows my name there. All the workers are friendly and knowledgeable. Do yourself and the world a favor, before you order on Amazon or Home Depot etc., go to North Park Hardware first and check to see if you can find whatever you're looking for there. read more

If you don't shop here whenever possible and give it 5 stars, you hate small local businesses. The workers are super helpful and quirky. It's like your grand dads hardware store survived the internet trying to kill it. It is so helpful to walk over here rather than drive to a big chain. I can't believe how much hardware they cram in to this place. It's rare that they can't help me find something. Highly recommend Ps buy their tshirt it's amazing read more

The very few times I have ever been disappointed with North Park Hardware were when I was trying to buy something no longer in existence...anywhere. If I tried to find a better price, it would end up in a back alley at midnight after it had fallen off a truck and wasn't what I needed. North Park Hardware not only has what you need , you have a wide variety of choices for each item. May they be here long after I have hung my hammer for good. I have yet to find a hardware question that couldn't be answered at North Park Hardware. read more

I usually don't frequent this types of stores too much, but sometimes when you have to, you need to. I came here to get copies of keys and it was fairly easy process. Went in and out, the gentleman helping was very kind and helpful. He asked me if I wanted to pick a special design for my keys and few minutes later copies were done and I was out the door. Thank you for great, fast service. read more

Always very helpful employees with a surprisingly good selection-SUPPORT LOCAL! Sure beats a drive to HD or L's

Super knowledgeable, super helpful staff. I had a plumbing issue and they helped to find exactly the right size pipe cap. Next time I need something I will go there instead of Home Depot. read more

Whenever I need an obscure hardware item Sam and everyone at North Park Hardware are super knowledgeable and helpful. If they don't have it, they make good suggestions about where to find it. read more

I went to Lowe's and waited for help for 1/2 an hour. When I asked a third person for help in plumbing he had no idea what I was talking about. I went to Home Depot and never got help after asking. What happened to customer service? This is not a store it's a serve yourself check yourself out and if you need help go to north park hardware!! I was asked right away if I needed help. He didn't know so he asked Sam who not only knew but added suggestions that I used and now getting home I bought the wrong tube that he suggested a different one. The prices were better than Lowe's and they have everything. Thanks Sam and I hope you're open another thirty years! read more

I walked in with a towel bar and needed a hex key but didn't have the right size. An employee (or the owner?) took the time to help me find just the size I needed, and it was all of sixty-seven cents plus tax. This is the kind of old-fashioned hardware store that we need to have around and should all try to support. read more

Everything. They have everything. This place packs in 100 m2 what H.D. spreads over an hectare. In fact, North Park hardware reminds me in many ways why I loathe the big orange. The guy is courteous, available, knowledgeable and he even points to the cheaper option next to the brand-name hardware. If you need just one wire-nut, he sells you just one, not a box of twenty. Why every neighbourhood does not have such a store is beyond me. Why North Park, chock-full with tattooed and bearded hipsters who would not know from which end to hold a screwdriver, supports one, is even less fathomable, but there it is, and I hope it is there to stay. read more

I'm all for supporting small businesses but the employees were being very inappropriate, stalking a person of color around the store. One of the employees asked me to keep an eye on that customer while he got something from the back, which I did not. Then another employee started stalking me around the store, suspiciously coming up to me every 10 seconds. Apparently they're not as concerned if you're white? Will not go back. read more

They do try hard and inventory is good. They're great to save you a trip to the big stores. The location is convenient. I hope the city is aware of North Park parking shortage. All in all, I usually find what I need and service is good, courteous, especially Kevin and also the other guys. read more

Big lots has been long gone!!! The lots would have been my first choice for tools/hardware in north park, (a.k.a the hood I call home). Hmmm I need some nuts and bolts and I don't feel like heading back to home depot, it's too crowded with no parking there. What can I do? Who can I turn to? My chest feels heavy as I'm struck by a flash of anxiety. I panic, freeze up as I realize that there's no denial at the decision I have to make at hand. Aw yes there it is! My body is coming back to me! My brain has conjured up an interesting thought! The Googles! (a.k.a the superior search engine of the Interwebz). Kooooom bai yahhh!!!! I type into the text box "north park hardware" and what comes up??? A smirk enthralls my face as I select the first link! http://www.yelp.com/biz/northpark-hardware-san-diego A link to yelp!!! I have come full circle!!!!! Yea this place doesn't disappoint. A huge selection of nuts, bolts, and yes also hardware nuts. I also had to go back for a number of other items, sand paper, saw, nails, etc... This place has now been upgraded to my first choice for hardware and tools. PAYCE! read more

Very nice customer support with an amazing selection of inventory. Plus clerks know old craftsman house issues. They are local to North Park and not a big non-community corporation. read more

This hardware store is very nice. It's small but packs in lots of items for apartments and homes. I have found a wide variety of excellent items there for my apartment, from under the counter LED lighting, to a shower head and to sharpening oil for my pocket knife. The only drawback is the lack of parking but that's not the business' fault, that's the fault of politicians and other local crap. We live in a world where big corporations seem to be taking over almost everything. Every time you purchase something at a big box store, like Home Depot, Lowe's and other large businesses such as Amazon and Starbucks, you are making it harder for small business owners to stay in business. While North Park Hardware doesn't carry every item you might need, I have found certain items at this store which Home Depot doesn't even carry. Also, the staff at North Park Hardware and extremely nice and helpful. If I can't find something there, they always recommend another business where I can find what I'm looking for. I've had excellent service from multiple employees, including Mac, Kevin and Chris. I always go to North Park Hardware first and then only if I have to, I'll go to a big box store and pay the big faceless and evil box stores. read more

North Park Hardware is a neighborhood hardware store that is arranged with all the efficiency of one of those nook art supply stores with floor to ceiling use of space. It's a welcoming space that will leave you questioning why you take the three highways to walk down the warehouse lanes of the big box stores for a lock, nail, or some simple hardware item for sure. The guys are as helpful with anything you might need advice on and I'll happily return! read more

I prefer to support small business but I will not be going back here. One of my pet peeves is when you walk into an establishment, walk up to the counter and the employee just stares at you rather than say anything. A man stared at me for a solid 5 seconds which made it quite uncomfortable for me, as a female who can't go anywhere without men staring. Finally he said "hello". Anyway, I wanted to exchange something. I had the receipt but not the label that came on the item so I was told I was told I could not exchange it. That's too bad for them because I planned on shopping around for other things as well. I'll go to ACE hardware instead where the employees don't stare at you like a piece of meat, and you can exchange/return items. **I had the same situation with Ace and I was able to exchange the cord AND I spent more money there. read more
