Awesome to have a hardware store in Ocean Beach. I go there for small things all the time and the staff is very helpful. Keep up the good work! read more

Went here to buy supplies to fasten a rack on my bike. Wandered around for 2 mins, lost as a newborn pup, and Reuben at the front desk asked if I needed any help. Told him what I was trying to do and he took me to two metal clamping options to fasten the rack on the bike and even went out to the front to see how they would worked. He gave me tools and cut rubber lining to secure the clamps on the bike and we did it all right in the front of the shop. HUGE help! Thank you again Reuben! Incredible service and I love the newly installed rack!! read more

Last minute as we were packing for our camping trip, we needed some help. Called them on the phone for some camping propane. They found the exact thing I was looking for & had it saved in the front for my friend to pick up. Our camping trip went off w/out a hitch & we left on time! Love this hardware store !! Friendly staff making life easy for us! Thank you! read more

This place is the best. Why go to Home Depot when you can go to a locally owned business that has been in ocean beach for a long time. They even have a piano in there now and they have locals come in and play and practice and seeing so the ambience is incredible. I got to hear someone playing Elton John's your song and I got to sing along. James helped me fix both of my broken items in no time. So you don't have to wait for your husband to finish procrastinating. Just take your item down to Ocean Beach hardware and get it done immediately! Prices are right and you can shop here for just about anything you can think of and stuff that you can't think about read more

I had a great experience at OB hardware . I went in after a wall-hanging project went south and left me with two big holes and no clear fix. The man who helped me was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He asked the right questions, quickly understood the situation, and guided me to exactly what I needed. I mentioned my 87-year-old dad was visiting and I was trying to fix it before he tried to climb a ladder himself--he completely got it and made sure I left with a solid plan. They have everything you need for most projects, and it's so convenient to have a place like this right in the neighborhood. I'll definitely be back. read more

We come down to Ocean Beach for five times a year and this is my go to place for anything home related we might need. Service is wonderful, prices are better than Target, and they've been in business for ever. Love them!! read more

I'm a local and shopped here intentionally instead of going to big box stores like Home Depot. Last week I bought two small jars of stain and didn't get a receipt. Three days later they were able to look up the transaction but because I didn't have a piece of paper they would only give me a store credit. This is 2026 and they should have the ability to process a refund without a physical piece of paper when the customer (especially a local) proves the purchase. I won't ever shop here again. Do better OB Hardware. read more

Support local business!! This place rules and always has. They have everything you'd need for most general home repair and home gardening projects, including a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. read more

I love the community feel of this store! They go above and beyond to serve their community. They also have a lot of great project pieces to help me get the job done from gardening to fixing screens. Their prices seem fair and employees are friendly! Thanks for the great service! read more

Have been back twice this week! The service is outstanding, friendly and attentive! Owned by locals and community active. Selection for a brick and mortar location is excellent! The prices are reasonable so stock up!! Parking behind the store off the alley is available and free parking on the street too. We prefer shopping here than the big box corporate stores. read more

Very personal and attentive customer service. Good window screen replacement. Convenient and close

I drove down to Ocean Beach polish up a friend's brick on the commemorative wall. I thought I brought everything with me but I was wrong. Fortunately O.B. Hardware had things in stock that I had never seen at other hardware stores before. Different types of polish for both porous and non-porous Rock surfaces.. it's not so much about what the store had in stock it's that the owner knew exactly what my project was and took me to precisely the items that were going to work. She's been doing this a long time. I'm grateful for her knowledge and expertise. read more

Great store, great location, 5 blocks from my house, the only problem i see is most of the time i visit the store, i see customers stealing, what a damn shame, put a baseball bat on the counter, like the bodega's do in brooklyn, and when you see them stealing, go up to the thief and say hi! where you looking for a baseball bat? read more

The service here is fantastic. I was having a little bit of trouble figuring out the best way to repair a broken kitchen dish towel holder that had sentimental value. The man who offered to help me was terrific. He suggest a couple of different ways to fix it and after we agreed on a good solution, he fixed it! He was kind, thoughtful, and gracious. Thanks for the great service!!! read more

Love this place, very friendly staff, and good prices. Piano is a fun addition for a hardware store! my son loves to play

Great knowledge and service for our community. The last time I was there they had a virtuoso pianist at the keys. Great experience!

Came here on short notice needing fuel for my torch for creme brûlée lol. I was setting up for an event in Point Loma and mine ran out in the middle of torching. This was the closest place...about 10min or so. The lady at the front counter was friendly and the entire transaction was smooth and quick. The price was super affordable too compared the Ace Hardare. Not sure what else they've got but looks pretty full and stocked. If I'm in the area again, I'll be sure to come again! read more

I was looking for a specific battery for my car key fob this morning that was out of stock at CVS, Rite Aid, and back ordered from Autozone. I called OB hardware and Ryan answered, located the battery, and ensured they had it in stock. I arrived a couple minutes later and he offered to replace it for me there, which was incredibly helpful since apparently my vehicle owners manual actually told me the wrong battery. Fortunately he had the correct one in stock as well and was able to swiftly replace the batteries for me. Super nice guy and great service! I will definitely be back for any hardware needs. Thanks Ryan and OB Hardware! read more

I feel SO strongly about OB Hardware. I have gone in on multiple occasions for so many different projects and every single time someone new has helped me and I ALWAYS leave knowing more than I did before with the most helpful advice of any hardware store or blog I can find. They are not there to upsell or give you stuff you don't need. As a girl in a hardware store, it can be intimidating but there is never any belittling or talking down to me which I appreciate SO much. Even if you have zero clue where to start and just an end goal, the people at OB Hardware will help you. Cannot recommend them enough read more

I came here because one of my coworkers lives in OB and when I asked where she liked to shop she named this place as one of them. I had looked on their website for a way to buy a gift card and could not find one so I went in person. I went in the store and asked if they had gift cards. The guy laughed at me. I decided they must not need the business then and left. Will not ever return. read more

This is a real hardware store. It's not an overpriced underserviced corporate money grubbing machine. The employees are locals and care about their customers. If a need a single screw or washer they have them. I dont have to buy a dozen. I've been rebuilding two bicycles and whenever I need hardware I go here. This is what a hardware store is supposed to look like, just like the ones many of us remember from our childhoods. read more

I went to *cough a bigger chain hardware store looking for chalk paint, but they only had one color. I called OB Hardware to inquire if they had any and the nice gentleman on the phone went and read off ALL the colors they had as options, and there were 4x as many colors. They might be a smaller store, but they've got options and they'll let you know what's in stock! Probably the best customer service in OB, too. Just saying. Thank you guys for staying open and carrying the goods!! read more

Beyond thrilled that OB Hardware was able to remain part of our OB community!! Every time that I have visited in search of something in particular.. they have always been able to help me in way of selling me a specific product, honest advice if a purchase may not be necessary, or referral if they do not offer what I seek. Special shout out to Lisa! She is an absolute gem of a person, and she helped me with my garden's first gopher issue by giving me advice on a basic level as well as showcasing the different products that were offered (and their wavering levels of severity, practicality, and/or humane approaches). I absolutely want to avoid the more gory approaches, so I really appreciated her input and options! This store and the people who work in it are all treasures! read more

Friendly. Has more than you would expect. A huge supporter of local schools and businesses and neighborhood projects. We love OB Hardware!

This place sells a little bit of EVERYTHING! They cut keys and the people who work here help wherever and whenever they can. My big fascination is spray paint & magnets (NOT what you're thinking...I've yet to commit a felony!). They carry both in copious quantities. They also have the little bits of everything that you need at a moment's notice (hooks, screws, miscellaneous other hardware bits & pieces) as well as a fair selection of gardening supplies and even cut glass & plexi-glass (again...NOT what you're thinking!) If you need a little something and are in the area, stop on in. This is one local merchant I don't mind supporting! read more

What a difference from the big chain stores. Their customer service is out of this world. Even if all you need is a $2 drill bit these incredible employees will spend the time to make sure you get the right one. Always a pleasure! read more

If you own a house in OB or PL, and it's ancient like ours, and you're not a billionaire that can afford to just rip out all the plumbing and gas and electric and everything else in it and just redo all of it, then you NEED this hardware store. If you're trying to fix your old house, and you need some weird part for something, Home Depot doesn't have it, neither does Lowe's, neither does Ace. But this place has it, and they have it at a reasonable price, and they'll help you find it. read more

I live in Point Loma and have supported OB hardware and was joyous when they made a comeback a few years ago. Unfortunately, in my last six transactions with the staff has been horrible, argumentative and disrespectful. I have always supported local businesses, but they do not deserve my business. read more

Had to share. On Thanksgiving day, right in the middle of the rain deluge and just moments before our guests were to arrive, we discovered a fair amount of water dripping in to our guest bathroom from a roof leak. On a whim, we called OB Hardware... and the owner answered! When he heard our plight, he left his own Thanksgiving dinner and met my husband at the shop to hook him up with some wet patch. He dropped everything to help us, which fixed the leak and saved our Thanksgiving. Who does that??? Big gratitude to this man with a heart for the community his shop serves. What a guy. read more

I'm trying! I really am!! I try to shop here as much as I can. My husband goes in a lot, this his is my review only. 1. I wish they were opened later, at least till 7 or 8 pm!! I work nights and school during the day. I am unable to shop there :( 2. My husband went in looking for screen to cover our back door (OB flies) and someone showed him the "magic screen" as seen on tv. easy to put up, no nails ect. Perfect! It was 4 dollars more than CVS but that's okay, we want to shop local. The problem was I told my neighbor where to get one, she went a few days ago and was told "I've worked here 12 years, never seen it, we don't have it, never had it" Clearly, the small staff was wrong. Some guy with long hair in a pony tail I think. 3. I'm a pack rat. I found the box, with the white, 2 line of numbers EIS lettering "OB Hdwe" on it. :( 4. This is not the first time this has happened to me when I've referred people. I live next to an Air BB, have sent people down there, on;y to be told, they closed early. So, my husband will still go there, I cannot. Sorry OB Hardware. I tried. read more

This is one of those special businesses that make Ocean Beach awesome. Yesterday I picked up a sweet old surfboard that was missing the metal hardware for one of it's obsolete "lockbox" fin boxes. I took one of the originals in to OB hardware to see about improvising a functional match. The cashier on duty hopped over to the grinder and machined me one out of a washer on the spot. What a legend! Match was perfect. Board is now my favorite ever. So I was able to finish my dream surfboard thanks to the way this crew rolls! Sickest hardware store ever! read more

As a local in OB, I wish I can support local business. Quite a few problems with this place. The hours are not friendly, they are only open until 4 or 4:30 or 5 maybe. I called them and they said they were open until 5. I got there at 4:45 and the doors were closed. They are also closed Sundays which also is annoying. They are still stuck in the past with the $5 minimum on credit card. I would not care so much about that but since they cant keep straight hours that just adds to the annoyance. Actually looking forward to the Target coming across the street now. read more
