two glasses of beer on a table

SQUEEEEE!!!! Another micro brewery! I'm going to do a preliminary review on this. However, great deal more research is needed. First, let me say that they had a couple of very nice IPAs. Of course this is my favorite. The Mello was very balanced with both Citra and mosaic hops . It's a nice easy drinking IPA with almost a floral overtone. Fantastic! Say hello sunshine is a nice sour. I love that they had a lot of cans available for most of their beers. It's nice to be able to enjoy things at home as well. The only thing that I would love to see is the ability to get a tasting flight at some point. While you can certainly ask for a taste, I like being able to sit down and try bunch of different things. Welcome to Davis, Dunlop! We are very happy to have you here.

I have been wanting to try this little brewery for a killing time, but I live in Sac and have not been in Davis during the limited hours. I found myself in Davis today and saw the website said they were open for pick-up of online orders from 4-7. Great. Ordered 3 4-packs and headed to pick them up a little later. My issue is not the beer. I really enjoyed the Double Stomp IPA. Smooth and enjoyable. My problem was the service. I rolled up to do the curbside pick-up. The young man who came to our window barked "your name?". He left. He returned and nearly three the beer into my wife's lap thru the window. Never said another word. Didn't even respond when we thanked him and told him to have a nice day. I go out of my way to try and support small local businesses right now. I even added what I thought was a good too for someone to hand me canned beer through the window (20%). To have someone be downright rude was discouraging. I'm not sure I will even return. I've been to 3 Mile in Davis several times and the staff there is always friendly and welcoming. There was nothing about Dunloe that would make me skip the many other breweries around who appreciate those of us supporting local businesses in these tough times. PS - if you're the owner and want to know a description of the employee please message me. He is costing you business. Really great experience, delicious brews, lovely outdoor scene, and COVID conscious. Also pet-friendly too! Love this amazing spot.

This place gets poppin on weekdays! Super chill and laidback brewery down the street from in n out. Your alternative burgers and brews if that's too mainstream for you :) The first thing I'd like to mention is that they are DOG FRIENDLY!! In fact, you'll most likely run into a few doggos here so take caution if you have allergies. On the other hand, they are also human friendly :) In fact, you'll find that this place gets crowded even on weekdays! Mostly a hangout for working peeps but you'll also find young people here too. The draft list is a little limited, but compared to the 2-3 other breweries in town, I'd say Dunloe is doing quite well! Nothing in particular impressed me, beers were ok - I'd say that this is more of a place to hangout than to try exquisite beers. They also have growlers for a very reasonable price!

I love that a lot of breweries are popping up in Davis. Its awesome that there are so many choices now! Dunloe is one of the newer ones in the community and I'm surprised its taken me this long to visit. I came as some friends were hosting a fundraiser here. I forgot the name of the beer I had, but it was great and super light. The brewery is pretty small with a few tables and a bar to sit at. When we walked in, we asked for advice on which beer to order, and the guy behind the counter was not very welcoming, which was a little bit of a bummer. The parking is a little difficult, but there is plenty of street parking around. Definitely would come back for the vibe!

Cool new (2017) brewery and tasting room in Davis off of Olive Drive in a stand alone brick building. A bit off the beaten path, next to a used car dealership, but definitely don't let that deter you - it's worth the trip. The owner/brewer (UCD Master Brewers program graduate) is into a rotating tap list and seems to be focusing on funky and new styles of craft beer - saisons brewed with kumquats/oak, sours from Honey Murcott tangerines, etc. He also brews up a sweet IPA "Sunshine Highway", a pilsner, a tasty Belgian table beer (3.9%), coffee stout and my personal favorite "Dude and the Hippy" a Double IPA with refreshingly beautiful complexity - hazy, piney, citrus funk forward. The space is small, but good for socializing and milling around. They are a family-friendly brewery but don't have much in the way of activities so I like to pack a little bag of coloring books and crayons for the kiddos to keep them occupied. The owner's cute little doggies are always in attendance, so if you're allergic take your zyrtec before you come (ha, ha), but they're super fun to watch and throw the ball for while admiring the barrel decor (which I think are actually in use). You can bring your own food, or order from the food truck that frequents Dunloe on the weekends! If you're not sure what your favorite beer might be, ask for a sample or order the flight (6 beer tastings for $15). Did I mention they are one of the cooler breweries that don't discriminate against bringing your own empty growler (that might happen to be from another brewery) and fill it without hesitation!? I like that, because HEY I'm filling it with YOUR beer! Right? Hours: Thursday - Saturday 4-8pm and Sunday 2-6pm So, next time you're twiddling your thumbs on a Thursday-Sunday afternoon, check out Dunloe...I'm quite sure there's something for every beer palate there.

The 3rd brewery in Davis!! How exciting!! The other breweries are Sudwerk and Three Miles. C heard about this place from his coworkers that are also beer enthusiast. So naturally, we had to pay a visit! Exit Olive Dr. and it'll be in a little hidden location on the streets. Next to it, is an auto shop. Close enough to in-n-out, if you want some munchies, as they do not have any pub food. It was pretty packed when we went on a Sunday night and it got pretty stuffy in there. They have a broad range of beer for such a small tasting room. They even have a sour!! I have been enjoying sours, so this was a treat. The place was pretty small. *Dogs friendly, but not much room to roam *Seating: Long benches, table tops, barrel tops *Rotation of 8 different beers. Flight of 6 tasters for $15. IPA to Pale Ale to Sours. *Street parking

Our flight! Generous portions!

This is a fantastic brewery in Davis! The staff were friendly and helpful. We tried many of the different beers and ended up getting a flight of beers. They have way more variety than Super Owl Brewery on the other side of town. I like the decor in the place. It's simple with lost of barrels and wood everywhere. Someone had a couple dogs in there running around which was a little annoying because people kept almost stepping on them but I guess it makes it seem more casual in there. Good place overall!

Good beer. Decent prices. Had the hippy dipa and the sunshine road IPA. Both worth the $5. Growlers are $12-15. Nice boarder collies. New place, one stall bath...kinda smallish but they are opening a patio soon. Looking forward to great things!

It was a cold afternoon/evening in December, but we dressed warmly and stayed by the firepit. There were maybe 4-6 other clusters of people there also, and definitely another birthday party going on because the guests were singing along loudly to a special request playlist that the staff played on the speaker for them. I thought it was a good number of people considering how cold and dark it got. Our group brought a bunch of kids, and they pretty much explored the grounds the whole time -- feeding the animals, making friends with other kids, and having a blast. Food from the food truck was fine, just be careful leaving your food out unattended because some random dog gobbled our burger when we weren't looking. It's a beautiful spot. We should all be so grateful for having access to it, basically for free. Drinks were good. Good vibes. Super relaxing to be out in nature. Friendly staff. As of this review, you can reserve areas for parties/events for free, and you can bring in your own food and drinks, excluding alcohol, of course, since they are a brewery. I'm sure it gets crazy busy during the warmer months, but it is worth a visit even in the cold. Just dress right.

Though near the 80, Ruhstaller Farm is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. There's no conspicuous signage. It's easily possible to drive right by & never know what's here. & yet, the few times I've been here, generally later on a Friday or Saturday night, it's obvious that Ruhstaller Farm is the busiest place for many miles around in any direction. It's somewhat puzzling to me. Add in the idyllic bucolic vibes, & this place feels is a bit surreal to me. There's something about the frolicking farm ambiance here that reminds me of the Aliki Farms skit from the 1st episode Portlandia.* So how do I know about Ruhstaller Farm? A friend I homebrewed with for years lives in Dixon. Being beer nerds enough to brew it ourselves, we'd stumbled across Ruhstaller beers a long time ago. That early stuff was rough. The beers pouring now at Ruhstaller Farm are definitely a drastic improvement. The bar staff has always been friendly. & really, this is a nice place to relax & enjoy a beer. But that's it. I'll come through once in a while & have a beer or 2. I'm not staying. No matter how much anyone might say they'd love me to stay, & I'm absolutely not putting on a frilly dress. *https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If41cZMBgqA

While a certain amount of preferential treatment for familiar faces is simply human nature, the contrast felt greater than what could be considered good service. Maybe the Local was only for locals. More recently, on another trip staying in downtown Davis, I decided to give the Local another whirl. Pulling up a stool at the bar on a Saturday afternoon, the bartender extended a friendly greeting. Huh. Service was personable, knowledgeable, & attentive this time around. After a little conversation, I found out he was filling for the regular bartender. Huh. Well OK, then. So I got to trying some beers. They don't do taster pours/ flights here. Everything's at least 1/2 pours. The bartender informed me that they do taster pours/ flights at their brewery location in town. Just not here. Honestly, that's a bummer for me. But I had a few 1/2 pours to taste what they got. For someone who's a bit beer snobby, has far too many 1000's of beer check-ins on Untappd, & once-upon-a-time homebrewed for many years, the beers were good. Not whale-hype mind blowing. But good. Service was nice this visit. It'll be interesting to see which Dunloe Brewing I get on any possible future visit to the Local...
