Pleasant experience with Ann and Linda Hubby was not able to make reservations for a wine tasting experience inside the tasting room so we walked in expecting to sit outside the parklet which did not require reservations. Turns out the tasting room was not busy at all so we were able to enjoy our wine pairing inside. It was a 3-digit day today, although the outside seating had a covered patio roof and equipped with misters. Linda brought us a charcuterie board to pair with the wine sampling. Ann started us off with a 2019 Verdejo with charming aroma of citrus flavors... hmm, thinking of pairing this with fish tacos and even Thai food? Then I tried the Gozar! Red Blend. This wine was flavorful and easy to drink. 39% Tempranillo, 35% Petite Sirah, 18% Zin, and 8% Cab Sauv... paired well with our mix of charcuterie. We ended purchasing a bottle using our 15% discount. They had merchandise for sale including shirts, loofah soaps, cooking oils (sunflower, walnut, almond), nuts for pairing, and wine gifts and accessories. The tasting staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and the ladies shared with us a little history about the vineyard owners and their Highway 128 collection wines. I visited their tasting room on Main street (one of their two locations). It has both indoor and outdoor areas. The inside was pleasantly dark and had various seating options from bar height tables to comfy lounge chairs and regular restaurant furniture. It had a great casual feel where you don't need to dress up, but can if you choose to. Their wines were good, some mature, other still left with some time to develop. My favorite was 2018 Zinfandel, which was completely different from 2017 that I had a chance to try because of another gentleman buying the bottle for his table. I bought a bottle. Service was incredible. The associate was very attentive, appeared to be passionate about wine and knowledgeable to describe flavors you can expect. I also admired their clean bathroom (yes, I know, who the heck reviews the bathroom?!). Overall, a great experience. One recommendation I would have for the business is to get different, lower height chairs for their bar-height tables. read more

Great little tasting room in Downtown Winters! I really like wineries, but these tasting rooms are so nice!

This was our second of four stops during the Yolo Passport to Wine Country Elite Event. Of the wineries today, this was the BEST. This cozy Berryessa Gap tasting room located in downtown Winters was decked with local art and fresh flowers. We got in while our wine tasting server Sheree was opening the doors at 11AM. She was the most informative and pleasant personnel that we've experienced during any of our wine tastings period. The experience started with a complimentary snack board of smoked gouda & almonds, manchego and dried fruit which complimented the variety that we sipped on. We brought home the Goza! Rosé of Tempranillo and the Gozar! non-vintage Red Blend mainly because this young lady was so good with her spiel. I had such an excellent time at Berryessa Gap Vineyards! My friend and I came in for the Yelp Elite event which included a complimentary wine tasting with unique food pairing. Our server, Rosendo, was super accommodating and easy to vibe with. We came right when they opened so we were the only ones doing their wine tasting. We tried 5 wines: 2019 Verdejo, 2019 Rose of Tempranillo, Non-Vintage Gozar, 2018 Zinfandel, and their 2018 Tempranillo! The food pairing goes well with the wines. Rosendo gave us gouda cheese, dried apricots, and almonds! I liked their Zinfandel the most out of the 5 wines that we tried. We loved the food pairing so much we even ordered their Berryessa Platter which was basically their charcuterie board. It came with manchego cheese, goat cheese, chocolate, chorizo, crackers, dried fruit, and almonds. Came here New Years Eve and was a awesome experience! All the workers were super nice and helpful. Came here for a birthday and had such a fun time. If you buy a bottle it waves the tasting! Well I decided to do the mixed flight - and I'm glad I did. I am walking out with a 4-pack (yep, you read that right) of the Goza! Rose of Tempranillo - really refreshing and perfect for summer. My boyfriend and I came in a little before 5 (closing time is 6 in Mondays) and that was plenty of time to get a full tasting in while having a leisure conversation with each other as well as with the person that helped us Lily. She was great! Very personable and helpful with the tasting and purchases afterwards. The flight of 5 wines were decent and a great variety. The stars for us were the snack trio, two of which were locally made (the smoked almonds and dried fruit) and paired beautifully with the wines. We ended up purchasing a bottle of rose, an espresso glass (they're having a 30% off on select glassware right now!), and a bag of dried pears. They also have a customer only bathroom that's clean and well maintained. We sat at a table by the window that had some cute flowers on it, but they also have outside seating if that's what floats your boat. The WiFi inside is great as well! Berrysea Gap provides and intimate, knowledgeable and delicious tasting experience for some of the best wines of Yolo County. They have a cozy inside tasting room and ample patio seating for outside tasting. We have stopped in many times but we were particularly impressed this past visit, our host was extremely knowledgeable about all of the wines, terroir, flavor expectations and varietals. It was a wonderfully enhancing experience and we actually learned quite a few new things in regards to wine in general and about some of their different varieties we haven't tried in the past. They do offer some charcuterie options with your wine and the tasting is extremely affordable, the fee is waived if you purchase wine. First and foremost, Lily is a wonderful host! She's very kind and knowledgable with the wine she served us. I felt well accommodated, with both amazing customer service and a clean, comfortable tasting room. Out of the 5 wines served, I gravitated most towards the 2019 Verdejo, 2019 Rosé, and 2018 Zinfandel. The Verdejo and Rosé are both refreshing without an overbearing aftertaste. The Zinfandel was enjoyable, with plenty of fruity notes that I personally enjoy. The snack platter provided paired very nicely with the wine provided. I'm a fan of the smoked almonds and dried fruit provided, with the dried fruit being my favorite out of the trio. All in all, a great place for a well priced wine tasting. The Berryessa Gap tasting room in Downtown Winters is a lovely spot to sit, relax, and have some wine. We were helped by Ann and Linda and they were both great, willing to stay and talk about the wines. As part of the Yelp Yolo Psasport, we were given a complimentary nut/cheese/fruit plate, which was wonderful. In addition (for lunch) we got the Winters Special, which included several cheeses, crackers, meats, fruits, and goat cheese with honey. My husband also got a panini - they were out of pastrami, but the ham was delicious. They have a red flight, and a mixed white.red which includes some of the lighter reds. Came here as part of the Yelp Elite Passport to Yolo Wine Country event. We arrived, front parking lot was full. If you drive around to the back there is PLENTY of parking. On our walk up to the front we passed alongside the stage, brewery, several spots of outdoor seating with lots of shade. As we entered the Winery we were greeted by staff, mentioned we were apart of the YELP Elite, showed our confirmation email and picked our seating. We decided to sit inside (only two tables inside) as it was pretty hot outside. They staff was attentive to our tasting making sure we received the next beverage in a timely manner. We also received a complimentary cheese, almond, and dried fruit board which paired well with the wines. When finished we asked about the Yelp Elite discount and we're told that this particular winery was NOT participating in it. Not sure what happened- but it states that this winery in particular on the confirmation page link WAS participating In the 15% off wine and food. Hmmm. We visited Berryessa Gap this past weekend for Small Business Saturday. Upon entry we were greeted by a very friendly employee who offered lots of help and information on their wines. We were already familiar with the wine but have always wanted to take a trip to visit the tasting room. The tasting room was clean, quaint and welcoming. Lots of local items including honey, dried fruits and nuts and art. They offer picnic style tables out front where you can buy and enjoy wine and appetizers. Wonderful place to visit and great people. We will definitely return. read more

Still learning about wine, so the woman pouring explained (tried to at least) the nuances of each type of red I tasted. While I thank her for trying, I'm still clueless when it comes to wine which is really not her fault. I ended up liking "the one on the right" but they "ran out" of it. At the vineyard? Hmm. This was a celebration for a couple of newly doctorate-d women so there was a pleasant buffet of rice, beans and a couple different meats. We had an excellent time at Berryessa Gap Vineyards. We came in as part of a Yelp Elite event for a free tasting and food pairing, which were both amazing, but what we really loved was the free AC and great conversations. Our server, Sam, was friendly and chatted it up with my bf about video games, while the other server and I talked about hair. I'm sure they're both knowledgeable about wine as well, but since this was our third stop of the day we were both kind of done talking about grape varietals by that point. Every table in the house was full but they did an excellent job splitting their time and floating around, we never had to wait long for our next pour, very attentive staff. The tastings are $10 normally and come with a flight of 5 wines, the food pairing goes so nicely with the wines so don't skip out on this! That day we got manchego cheese, dried pears, and my favorite the savory smokey almonds! (We ended up buying a bag of these for $6 on our way out) We even got a sixth tasting of their petite syrah on the house, but I think the standout wine for me was the tempranillo. On a perfect spring day stumbled upon this pleasant place on the deep sidewalks of Downtown Winters, CA,. I had never consumed Aperitif, much less that which captures the local Winters' signature of vineyards and fruit so well. The "wine" here is infused with local fruits creating a liquor beverage that is both wine and fruit liqueur at once. I really do not have words for what this is, but it is worth the adventure. They bring you each variety in a little snifter for an very affordable price, although the building is nicely appointed as well as house shaded outside seating. Apparently, this Aperitif tasting lounge is modelled off the French version. Service was personable while impeccable. Nice Find, and definitely for both Winters/Berryessa valley loyalists and locals--as well as explorers. read more

Great experience here on 5/1 as part of the Yolo County Wine Ramble! We'd been to Berryessa Gap's main location out west of Winters a few times before, so we were familiar with some of their wines, and came in with already high expectations, but they were met and exceeded here in every way. Our server Lili was so sweet and attentive and went above and beyond to explain the wines to us and was very generous with the pours. The rosé and the Zin were amazing, and all the others were great as well. We also ordered the Winters Special charcuterie board, and the goat cheese with honey was divine. We ended up buying 12 bottles (!) before we left as we were so impressed. Sitting outside in beautiful downtown Winters with fun live music only added to an already fantastic experience. We left as wine club members, and with a bit more than a buzz due to the generous tasting pours (don't worry, we walked down the block for dinner at Putah Creek Cafe to give us the time and sustenance to sober up before driving home). We were in a hurry to have lunch at Putah Creek next door, but my cute little old wino husband saw this little storefront winery and made a dash. This is one large room with a small bar for tasting. What there is of the seating is in the front with a large, empty room in back. I am guessing they haven't been open too long, because there was little furniture or ambiance. Then a bunch of frenetic women arrived, all talking at the same time, and everything echoed. Scary. Definitely time to leave, but not before Mr. B had purchased a 2009 Durif and 2008 Tempranillo. Honestly this place is "As Good as it gets!" The service is hands down the nicest in the area. They offer Napa quality wines at incredibly inexpensive prices. The wine club is shipped 2 - 3 a year and it's well worth it. Bottles range from $15 - $35 on their list of wines but they taste like double the price. I highly recommend buying a few bottles here, then heading over to Preserve and getting some late lunch or dinner. They charge a $5 corkage fee if you ask them to open any local wine you have. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed our favorite winery! My wife and I became members almost two years ago and we try to go to every member event. We especially loved last year's event in the Berryessa Gap warehouse where we got to vote on new blends and munch on "gourmet fusion food truck" food. They are currently sold out of some of my favorite varietals, including a Barbera that was outstanding, but the variety is still solid. They recently merged with Root Stalk so now the downtown tasting room has a lot of fun items for sale as well as chocolate and olive oils. Great people, great environment, reasonable pricing, and TWO beautiful tasting rooms in Winters. Highly recommended! read more
