My favorite signature cocktail is the mango jalapeño which they thankfully sell in 4 packs and they taste just as good as if they were made fresh. I'm not scared to try drinks made with liquor that I normally wouldn't drink as they are so scientific about the ingredients going into the cocktail that it flows so nicely! They've turned me back onto whiskey just with how delicious it is. You are welcomed in by friendly employees. They offered a free mead sampling but I really just wanted to try something else. I ordered the coconut prawns that had an awesome dipping sauce! I love when a place is generous with their coconut! Crunchy and delicious! The nice older lady suggested a beer I might like ( I wish I got her name...very pleasant!) And she was spot on! The City of Bees beer from Woodland was delicious! So good I bought more before I left! It is so relaxing outside with plenty of covered areas. Water fountain was a nice touch! I recently stopped back into The Hive to pick up a bottle or two of mead to bring to Girls' Night…read moredinner. I contemplated also buying honey but figured the hostess already had us covered with charcuterie, ports, olive oil and balsamic vinegars. I didn't catch the name of the man who helped me out, but he was super knowledgeable. I tasted more than a handful of different meads, ranging from bright and sweet to hoppy, to notes of cardamom and pine, to a thick almost port-like consistency, to a dry one. I also noticed one local brand, Strad Meadery represented as well. This wasn't a formal proper sit-down tasting as I was short on time, compared to when I did the actual honey tasting and they had a UC Davis Honey Flavor & Aroma Tasting Wheel to go along with. Ultimately I ended up purchasing a bottle of limited edition Sky River Chamomile Mead (Puget Sound, WA) and a specialty small-batch Monarch Series bottle of SideTrack Meadery's Celebratory Cyser Apple Mead (California Bay Area). We shared the Cyser which was great, and saving the bottle of Chamomile for a future date. I'll be back soon for lunch or to catch live music on the pollinator garden patio!

We sat on these hay bales inside a cargo that was attached to a tractor that took us around the facility. The scenery is amazing with the hills in the backgrounds and their ranch area was nice. After the tour, we enjoyed a glass some of their red wine which was great. The next time we come we definitely have to get a bottle. My wife ended up getting a cookbook in the tasting room and I bought some hot sauce. All the staff were very accommodating and answered any questions we had. Everyone is very welcoming. And the tri tip competition was fun too, we ate so much. This is a nice spot to check out that's just down the road from Cache Creek Casino. The food, wine, amd scenery are top notch!

Fast forward to present day, they have expanded to include wine tastings, and selling balsamic vinegars, wines, honey, beef jerky, and nuts. All local grown from Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation land. Very cool. They also sell kitchen and giftable items; and serve food made to order and also offering prepackaged to go. The staff are always so kind and helpful. The building and brewing facility is a beautiful architectural design. Even the outside landscaping and patio area are thoughtfully designed. The views are gorgeous overlooking the adjoining almond and olive orchards, and the Valley. The kind of scenery they put in sappy Hallmark movie backdrops. So darn lucky to live within driving distance. I have not tasted wine here before. But have tasted their olive oils and vinegars. Mmm. Actually we picked up some bottles since they had a sale and marked down some bottles from the prior year varieties. My favorite flavors of SH olive oil are Arbequina (classic EVOO) and Frantoio (this one has nutty, herby flavors with slight pepperiness). It's right off Route 16 and super close to the Cache Creek casino resort which is also a Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation venture. So if you happen to be at the casino, drive less than five minute to the tasting room. Plus if you need a rest stop for a restroom, Seka Hills tasting room has real nice ones.

Good food truck parked there as well - cheesesteaks this Saturday. The beer was ok - what I expect from a local brewery. Four stars as I had a flight and one of the beers keg blew as it was being poured. Basically served a glass of foam I was told would settle down. For a tasting flight I would've expected a new beer as this one turned out very flat. Overall the experience was really nice, but probably not driving that far off the 80 to try again. But if we find ourselves in Winters we'll definitely be back.

The only downside to this place is there's only outdoor seating (covered with some misters), so on a really hot day it may not be super comfortable to hang out long. This was the case when I went, it was tolerable but my beer got warm fairly quickly. I'll definitely be back but on a cooler day!
