After an exclusive relationship with Starbucks for many years, I decided to branch out and try other options. Over the past 18 months, I've visited numerous Dunkin' locations -- with a couple in particular getting a lot of my business due to their convenience near my home and school. Unfortunately, despite being a frequent customer, the experience has been consistently disappointing. How do you forget the bacon on an Avocado Toast WITH Bacon... repeatedly? If it's not that, it's the wrong drink, paid add-ons like cold foam left out, or some other surprise I didn't order. At this point, it's less breakfast and more roulette. The drive-thru convenience is what keeps pulling me back -- and also what keeps letting me down. When I notice an error before I even leave, I end up having to park, go inside, and fix it anyway -- which completely defeats the purpose of using the drive-thru. Going inside usually confirms the lack of care; many locations are visibly dirty. Most concerning is the absence of any real customer-satisfaction mindset. At times, it feels like poor service is baked into the business model. I don't need perfection. I just need my order to match what I paid for more often than not. Until then, this breakup feels necessary.
