When staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and driving into Michigan City, I sometimes make a stop for breakfast either at McDonald's (I love bacon egg and cheese biscuits) or Dunkin' Donuts for a bagel with light cream cheese. And yes, there's no real bagel shop around for many miles. I checked. In the early morning, it's best to do drive-through, or as I found out when I parked, you nearly get run into on your way out. I went into the store on Matson Dr. today. I asked for a half dozen donuts, and started to tell the lady what I wanted. She rudely interrupted me, and asked if there was anything else I wanted. I was taken aback. I told her yes, I would like a large caramel iced coffee and a extra large hot coffee with cream and extra sugar. I paid the $25 and she picked up a box to put my donuts in. I ordered the 6 donuts I wanted and she looked at me and said what else? I told her that was it. I ordered a half dozen. She then proceeded to tell me no you didn't you ordered a dozen. So needless to say I picked out 6 more I DID NOT WANT. I then go to the coffee section and turned the hot coffee that was on the counter and proceeded to tell the young lady that it wasn't what I ordered. I asked them to fix it. I then got told that when they set the coffee down that they couldn't fix it and to go over to the counter area and fix it myself. All the manager on duty said to me was I'm sorry. Well when you give people no other option but to walk out with things they didn't order and don't fix it your sorry doesn't mean much, does it? I told her it wasn't her fault but people should pay attention when someone orders. My advice is if you go in there, make them repeat the order back before you pay!!!! There are much better dunkin' locations than this one. Unless you get here early they never have enough doughnuts. If you want a drink without as much ice, you will get 3/4 of a drink and told that it is all pre-measured, not something I have experienced at any other location. I have also had cooked non-meat products that were contaminated with bacon grease. Ideally they would order a sufficient number of doughnuts and if they have leftovers donate them. They would keep in line with other locations and not give you 3/4 of a drink. Buy a toaster for non meat products. Stopped in with a friend to use the restroom & get a quick snack while on the road, but such a lackluster experience. I'm not really a Dunkin Donuts fan, but for Coffee - what could go wrong? :/ For starters, one restroom. During a busy hour/location (I guess) it just seems like more help AND space is needed. There was a line to wait for the restroom, and when you get out there's another line to order. I happened to get behind a guy who was writing his autobiography via ordering from the menu, so they took 5 minutes while he struggled to list out all 25 ingredients from each drink request (sigh)...When it was finally my turn, the cashier just walked off and began helping in the back without an acknowledgment, a hold on, I'll be right with you - nothing. I stood there with a dry face at this point because now you're just being rude. When she decided to return to her register she just asked " how can I help you," but refused to say "hi" or "hello." I proceeded with my 3 second order: a small iced macchiato, with almond milk and easy ice. After ordering I still had to step over to the right to wait behind the autobiography guy and wait again for his massive order to be made. When my order finally came out a clear separation could be seen where the milk was, and where they poured the coffee on top. I just threw my hands up at this point; couldn't figure out why my iced coffee came out so different when ALL of the guy's iced coffees before me came out looking like how iced coffees should - mixed. I stopped in on a Sunday morning and had to wait in line. There were a lot of staff but only 1 guy taking orders, filling orders. Manager came out while this kid was away from the register filling my coffee thermos and she asked why he was not at the register - he said he was making coffee. She says without a smile that 2 other people are making coffee and she goes in the back room. Really? There are like 10 people in line and her only response was to tell the kid that he should not be making coffee. Terrible management. I had stopped in because I was on the interstate and thirsty - needed coffee. Seemed to be the only place on the main drag for cofee so it was very busy as stated already. I got 1 chocolate glazed donut and a thermos of coffee. The donut was terrible - I actually at about a fifth and threw the rest away - too greasy. Now here is the thing --- I don't go to DD at all - cause they are not green. And, people wake up; stop going to places that use styrofoam containers. I won't use styro because it is not Earth friendly - will stay in a land fill for a 1000 years cause it does not bio degrade. So I bought a coffee mug for $11 --- and guess, what it friggin' leaked all over the place so I went back in and told the same kid (after waiting in line behind 4 customers) that the mug was leaking and I'd exchange it for a thermos of the same price. I ask if that was ok and he says he thinks so --- really - do they teach these kids any thing at all about customer service let alone the concept of 'customer experience'. If I could give this dunkin a 0 I would. This has to be the most disorganized business I've ever been in. I come in so I can not wait for the 30 cars in line. Gives me my donut and I wait for 10 min for my coffee, meanwhile about 30 other drinks are made and I could have just waited in line if I wanted to wait that long. Sorry but this has to be the worst DD I visit. They ROUTINELY (3 of 5 times easy, if not 4 of 5) mess up the order (and I'm a simple coffee guy, Black + 2 Splenda,, not asking for a multi-ingredient special drink). Because of the repeated mistakes, I rarely frequent this location despite it being near the house. Needless to say, on the occasions I do decide to give them another chance I come away disheartened. Personally I also think this is one of the most difficult locations to negotiate. Very awkward drive-thru / parking in a small lot. Also, don't be fooled into thinking the inside might not be busy as many people park in the lot next door and walk over. Mornings are crazy busy! Guess I'll continue to frequent the Lake County locations. Plus there's a Panera Bread near work.... I'm done with this particular location. read more

Even though there was no sign on I-94 saying that this Dunkin Donuts is right off the exit it is. This location is an easy in and out with a drive-thru and it doesn't tend to get busy. We were able to get in and out of here in less than 3 minutes which is great service. Unfortunately the quality at Dunkin Donuts seems to go down every time I go there but if you're into affordable pastries tea and coffee as you know this place is for you. read more

This location is a joke. They never ever have Bavarian cream donuts in the afternoon/evening, I mean never. However it will let you order one online for pickup even though they don't have any. Everyone has always been so nice at this location until today not sure if they have new manager or just all new people. I went to this location today at 5:50 AM ordered 2 drinks and asked for carmel flavoring the tag on my cups said carmel however they were both pumpkin. I do not like pumpkin at all so I went back and went inside (I was the only person inside) the first rude girl said she can help you over there I said ok went to the other side of the counter and no one came to help no mins you they had to be at least 6 girls behind the counter they finally asked someone from the back to help. I explained my problem and she was just rude I said I'm sorry you gave me what I didn't order and I would like the correct drinks. They proceeded to tell me it's carmel I said I know the label says that but trust me they are pumpkin. The morning staff is always amazing. They take time to get to know their customers. I have been remodeling an old house and the girls take the time to give me a water with my coffee and make my order absolutely perfect. I think there is some exterior remodeling going on and it is. Little dark at night, but it is probably just temporary. I recommend this DD. Had a friend who went here. While they were inside, there was an officer who had just made a purchase and accidentally locked himself out of his car. While my friend was inside and the officer was outside the employees (including manager) went on an anti-police rant and were loudly laughing and saying "stupid cop". Will never go here. Warning: the drive thru line here tends to be RIDICULOUS in the morning commute hours. Give yourself at least 10-15 extra minutes. The staff has always been great. I do love Dunkin Donuts coffee. I refuse to go to this location for donuts anymore though. They used to be ok, but the last 3 times I've gotten donuts, they've been horrible! First, they used to just throw then in the bag together and they'd get stuck to one another and the frosting would come off. They finally started using paper to separate them, but the last two times the frosting has been completely running off the donuts! My husband said maybe they freeze them and the frosting ends up runnier because of that. I'm not sure though. When they hand me my donuts at the drive through and I pull them out before I even leave the parking lot, I'd expect to still have frosting on my donut! I used to get donuts on a daily basis at the Valpo location and loved them, but the Chesterton location just can't get them right. read more

I stopped 2 days in a row on my way to and from a family visit. Both times, lots of happy employees and customers. Employees moving fast, putting out great food. I stop in the area all the time on travels because it is the last good exit before/after Chicago traffic. This is the best quick food at the entire exit and there are lots of choices (and I've tried most of them). read more
