Our table of four was sat about five minutes before another table of four...same waitress... took their order first, they ate first left first. Best place for breakfast in Chesterton hands down. We eat here every time we're in town visiting family and are never let down. We've always been sat quickly and the service is always great and attentive. Food is tremendous and reasonably priced. I probably like the blueberry pancakes best but, honestly, everything I've had on the menu u is awesome. Fresh squeezed OJ is a must. Honestly don't go anywhere else in town for breakfast. I heard your add on a radio. I chose to try it since I have breakfast often in the area. Unfortunately, this restaurant is priced out of my league. For $13.95 for 2 eggs, 2 bacon, hash browns and 1 slice of toast. Coffee $3.25 nearly $19 (inc tax) for this. I love coming to this place because breakfast is always delicious ! I got the Golden latte and Archie's special. The food was very well prepared and the latte had some black pepper in it and turmeric that is so unique I just love ordering it every time. They have great options for kids to order and everyone always comes out satisfied. I love that you can also choose the pastures they have in front of you want something off the menu. I ordered the BYO omelette which allowed unlimited toppings for a flat fee, which is awesome. Came with potatoes and toast but I ordered a small side of pancakes. Didn't need them! They were decent (a smidge dry) and had to ask for the cinnamon butter but alright. They didn't have the morning glory pancakes anymore to my dismay. but the toast was amazing! Went here on a Thursday morning to get some breakfast food. I enjoyed their corned beef hash and an iced matcha latte. Standard, solid breakfast. Eggs perfectly cooked. The biscuit was pretty good, have had better but definitely still enjoyed it. The iced matcha latte was one of the best I've ever had, surprised me how good it was. Saw lots of healthy options on the menu that I'd like to try in the future. My partner got the grilled cheese and I took a bite of it... wow! One of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had. Arrived at 12pm party of 2, Very small establishment took 15min to be seated no big deal it was pretty full so understandable. Waited 20min to place order this is unacceptable service is key to any business I assume they total forgot about us unless we were to brown but will give them the benefit of the doubt. They brought us water after the 22 minutes waited another 5 brought us another water.... Then wanted to just take our drink order but after 27 minutes we were ready its breakfast and all menu.... And fyi our server was carrot top. Ordered the over easy eggs with sausage and the ball n chain ordered the buttermilk pancakes can't go wrong with breakfast was a little skeptical as service is bad so kept it simple. Received the absolute minimum of service, by seating us, giving us water and bringing what we ordered. Not a single time did anyone come by to refill empty water glasses or warm up cold coffee. And they definitely had enough staff. At one point, there were more employees than staff but we never saw anyone go around warming up coffees or refilling waters. I have no idea what they were all doing but they definitely were not taking care of their customers. After finishing our meal, we sat for about 10minutes before someone brought us our check. Took another 7-8 min for them to take it back with the card. Thats when we found out you could pay at a counter. Nobody told us that. Very disappointing experience. read more

Amazing little cafe, tucked away in a strip mall, with the most glorious traditional and non traditional breakfast food options! We stopped by here during a trip from Chicago to Holland, MI for a quick brunch. Third Coast Spice Cafe has such a welcoming atmosphere, and this is reflected in their friendly staff (who handled the brunch rush hour with grace), the selection of toys and story books that they have for the lil ones, and a menu that declares that they'd be happy to cater to all dietary preferences (vegan, vegetarian, meat eaters, gluten free, etc). We were seated at a table for 4, after a wait for about 5-10 minutes around 12 PM on a Saturday. My fiancé and I ordered coffee drinks (mochas and lattes), a madras curry with chicken and brown rice, morning glory flapjacks for the table to share, and our friends ordered a BYO omelette with a bunch of veggies, cheese, and avocado. The madras chicken curry was so delicious - a mixture of chicken and veggies in a delicately spiced coconut based curry, served over perfectly cooked brown rice. The curry was a bit bland at first, but was easily fixed with a sprinkle of salt. The morning glory flapjacks were one of the best I've ever eaten, perfect lil fluffy clouds stuffed with pecans and cranberries, served with a delicious cinnamon butter and whipped cream. Our friends reported positively on their omelette as well. Our coffee drinks were also very tasty and well made. For just under $15 a person (including tip), this Cafe was also very easy on the wallet. I'd definitely make a detour to come by here the next time I'm in Michiana. read more

Three stars seems low for the quality of food and service for this restaurant, but 4 stars seems high because I gave 2 other restaurants in Chesterton (Octave Grill and Red Cup Cafe) that have better food a 4-star rating. We stopped here for lunch and got the Heartland (roast beef with carmelized Cajun onions) and a burger with Poblano salsa, carmelized onions, and avocado on a pretzel bun. The Burger was good, but I was disappointed that the Poblano salsa didn't have more heat and more flavor. I thought that the food at Octave Grill was better but they aren't open for lunch. My, did I enjoy my meal here. It was the waitress' recommendation, it could not have been better. Perfect healthy vegetarian option full of flavor and quite filling. The chai latte was very good and full of spices (a plus that it's served in a to-go cup). If ever in the area would love to return, ooh and Sheryll was the icing on the cake, full of personality still happy and attentive despite being short staffed, they must be SO happy to have her. On our way out of town, we stopped at the Third Coast Spice Café in Chesterton for breakfast. We're glad we did! Situated in a strip mall not far from the I-94 freeway, it was a step above other cafés. Though it has the usual breakfast fare, it was done with care and an added touch. For example, cheeses go beyond cheddar and American; peppers go beyond just bell. My wife had the Florentine Omelet which included balsamic tomatoes, caramelized onions, spinach and asiago cheese. I had the Garden Omelet which included roasted red bell peppers, caramelized onions, artichoke hearts, balsamic tomatoes, spinach and Swiss cheese; I also got a side of peppered bacon. Our meals were outstanding. The wait staff was prompt and courteous and the prices were reasonable. If you're traveling along I-94 in northern Indiana and looking for breakfast or lunch, give Third Coast Spice Café a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

I can't believe it has taken me this long to write a Yelp review of this place. Third Coast Spice Cafe is one of my absolute favorite breakfast spots. We don't live close by but are sure to stop in when we are in the area and sometimes drive out of our way. We typically come on the weekend and it usually busy. Make sure you come early or be prepared to wait for a few minutes. The have both indoor and outdoor seating and the decor has splashes of orange that is sure to brighten your mood. Over the years we have ordered several things from the menu. My favorite is the morning glory pancakes (orange, cranberries, and pecans) and my husband always gets the third coast omelette. Even though this place is a bit pricey, the food and staff make up for it and keep us coming back for more. read more

Wow. What an amazing, delicious cafe! We were driving through town and decided to stop here for a sandwich. GLUTEN FREE! Let me just say, if you are gluten free, this is a MUST stop. They make their own gluten free bread! Say what?! I think 99% of the gluten free bread I have had in my life, the restaurant got it from some random grocer and not in-house. We found this place on Yelp while searching for good places to eat breakfast since we were passing this town. Place looks great, atmosphere is very lively and energetic, and the employees are very young people, some of them probably not even in their 20'. That being said, I was expecting a much better service. Place is fairly small and there were at least 7 servers working at the moment but we waited for our food ( two eggs sunny side up and an omelette) for 35 minutes. Nobody asked us about coffee refill, or anything while we waited. At one point I also ordered something else from the menu, but due to extended wait I had to cancel it. On a side note- food was delicious, everything was very tasty but small portions as well. I think that this place has a huge potential, but it needs customer service upgrade asap. read more
