I always loved their coffee concoctions but amazingly I found I absolutely love their drip coffee! They roast their own beans. I do not like most coffee shops black coffee, but this is great! LOVE THIS PLACE! First of all the interior decor is a whole vibe and I'm here for it! The aesthetic- fabulous, the music played- perfection. The barista I had was so sweet. I was, admittedly, a little overwhelmed trying to pick a drink. She started a causal conversation of- what do you normally like? And we built from there! I ended up getting Voodoo, a peanut butter chocolate espresso latte and a plain bagel with cream cheese, OMG! I haven't stopped thinking about that drink. It was so smooth, just the right amount of sweet. Incredible! And the bagel was nice and crunchy on the outside and super soft in the middle. As someone who grew up a stones throw from NYC I can be a bagel snob. This was perfection. I sat there and worked for a while and at one point one of the baristas brought me over a cup of water. Said she noticed I had been working for a while and thought it might like some water. Which honestly was so touching because sometimes I get so hyper focused on what I'm doing I forgot to care for myself. That really meant a lot. Odd they don't offer discounts for bringing in your own glass but what a stylized and wild atmosphere, industrial Star Wars bar vibes which fits my name perfectly. Grabbed the Nocturnal Blue latte from the solid staff, looked science fiction setup in my tumbler, quite boring to be honest which surprised me considering many previous fantastic Fluid experiences. Perhaps an off day, not much espresso or blueberry notes showed up, could be embarrassed to be seen in such a trippy environment, I still enjoyed the hour working and liked the three hour parking I found a block away. read more

Stopped by here for brunch recently. I got the coconut daze coffee (coconut, coffee, cold brew, and cream) and the avocado toast, which was on a bagel. It came with sliced tomatoes, chia seeds, everything bagel seasoning, and an Italian dressing. The coffee was so good! It tasted like a Mounds candy bar. The bagel was also pretty good and had lots of avocado. I also love their voodoo latte, which has peanut butter, espresso, chocolate, and milk. It's a like Reese's peanut butter cup in coffee form. Their raspberry ricotta toast is also really good! It has raspberry jam, chia seeds, and ricotta cheese on a Texas toast. Overall, one of my favorite places to go! Great quirky coffee shop and roastery. I make it a point to go here anytime in the area. The Lemon Loaf is unmatched. I've never found a beverage quite like this elsewhere - it's coffee with lemon syrup and oat milk. I also tried a vanilla bean latte with added lavender and almond milk. It was delicious. Good coffee. Maybe not my favorite, but definitely good. Delightful staff - they even smiled! They were super helpful as we each fell in love with their t-shirts and attempted to find our sizes. And the branding? ON. POINT. Some of the BEST branding, decor, atmosphere, etc. I've ever encountered at a coffee shop. They're taking the craft beer idea & applying it to coffee, throwing in a side of snark and a healthy dose of humor at life (and death). All their merch was awesome. Now as for the coffee, they helped me customize a menu item to make it hot, include espresso instead of the purple powder, and made with oat milk. It was a bit of a hard order (some shops I've been to would have royally screwed that up)... and it was super fun how the barista told us it was a "secret menu item" most people didn't know existed. Hubs got the same as me but with regular milk & cold... and honestly I should have gotten mine cold as it probably would have tasted even better. There food is gross and dry mine was served in a box with tape on it and got this this dry beagle with cheese and a tiny piece of bacon, and a side of potato chips, when others there in suits was served on plates, snobs!!!! With an industrial art feel, and the sounds of harder rock music, the vibe is upbeat and interesting. I don't think I could sit inside this shop and work - although I liked the music, it wouldn't be conducive to concentrating on work, but I did love the coffee! Went with a rather large crowd and everyone enjoyed their drinks. The temperature that everything was served at was just right. They have some drinks that others don't offer - both coffee and tea. I will say it was very busy. Perhaps too busy and crowded for the comfort of many that are still feeling that are still observing COVID restrictions and safety. Super friendly staff. There are multiple seating areas each with their own unique feel. I really did not know that Valparaiso would have this kind of a vibe the coffee shop. It felt more like Wicker Park - Chicago. I finally had a chance to visit Fluid after moving to the area recently. I had read about their vegan food selection and always prefer a local coffee shop. Fluid did not disappoint! Our entire family visited and everyone loved their coffee treats. Personally, I had the Cortado with oat milk. The coffee was delicious! And although I didn't grab any food on this trip, Fluid offers several vegan options on their menu and has an entire section of vegan packaged snacks including baked goods and even vegan jerky. There coffees are very different and unique! I am basic when it comes to my coffee choices but I love the variety they have for all! Music can be a bit too loud for those wanting to sit down with a good cup of joe and study/work, so be aware if you want to utilize the space to be productive. I ordered a whole milk latte, which wasn't the best I have had because the milk had a funky taste to it (it wasn't spoiled; the quality of the milk was questionable). Well I will say I have never seen more of a production on a cup of black coffee. However, when I compare it to Starbucks, it makes them (meaning Starbucks) seem like a rip off. These folks treat coffee as if it is a science (to the point where I feel like a dinosaur or forgive me a "BOOMER".) Most of it is lost on a guy who says let me have a cup of coffee. I am even ok saying large medium or small. But when you get into the country of origin as well as the elevation at which the bean was grown, the process by which the bean was dried and finally whether the cup will be made using a "drip" method versus a hand job.....errr..... I mean a "pour over" by hand method. The only down side to such a nicely decorated super serious coffee shop. So its a great cup of coffee but I will tell you, if you are as deeply involved as they truly are about the coffee they may want to reconsider the overwhelmingly strong smell of burning incense they have going in the front of the shop. Its akin to having cigarettes in a gourmet restaurant, but in this case it gives it a aura of an opium den. read more

Fantastic find during our weekend trip to Chesterton. Great drink choices and cool, funky atmosphere. My boys got the BEC sammies-DELISH. Good, crispy bacon. Hubby had the VooDoo and loved it. I had my eye on the Lemon Love but ordered the Doncaster instead-delicious. Then I heard the barista talking up the Lemon Love to another customer as her fave drink so I ordered one. Pretty good. A bit pricey for what they give you though. I get a drip coffee (Black coffee) and pay over $2 for half as much as I get elsewhere. The place is small as are most places downtown. The tables and chairs are very hard wood. I'm thinking they don't want you to stay long. Extremely dark inside too. Very hard to do work with dim lights and hard chairs to sit on. read more

A wonderful coffeebar, whether you're looking for an espresso, cortado, latte, nitro coffee or anything in between! I got both a Cortado and a nitro coffee and the nitro was so smooth. The Cortado was great as well. The employees were nice and friendly and the place was super cozy inside. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you happen to be visiting Valparaiso! Is there a Starbucks nearby? Lemme check my trusty yelp app to see? Nope, but this Fluid place sounds awesome! Let's go check it out. Pulled up across the street (parallel street parking) and hopped out to go check this place out. I needed coffee in the worst way and love to find new spots, so this looked like a fun spot, off I go. Walked in to this totally hipster coffee bar with a friendly crew and an amazing aroma of espresso. It really reminded me of Kuma's Corner slinging liquid heaven instead of burgers. I loved it immediately. Large printed menu posted on the wall, small cooler with some bottled drinks to go and some local baked goods for sale. Yum. I went with my usual Soy Vanilla Latte and waited patiently whilst they whipped it up. No pun intended. It smelled amazing. Apparently the lady before me and then the two gentlemen after I ordered all got the vanilla lattes as well. I guess I'm not that original or we just don't want to stray from what we know. Either way, I'm not complaining. The price was comparable with Starbucks and I believe it was only a $.20 upcharge for Soy milk. Score! I sipped it right away and when the fresh, hot coffee hit my lips, it was on! I wish I lived closer but trust me, anytime I'm in Valpo, I'm stopping right back here for my coffee. Fluid has a craft coffee vibe, with lots of beans, tea, and some artsy gifts. Barista knew her stuff. I had a decaf Americano, and it was quite good. Lots of space for a conversation or study (although music was a tad too loud for me to study). Will definitely try to stop back here. read more
