While the indoor seating can fill up, I noticed they have some outdoor tables as well. The pastry selection is somewhat limited, and I'd love to see some heartier breakfast options. Of course it being named the Ewok might have made me a little partial since I'm a Star Wars fan. The pasta salad was super garlicky, it needed a little bit of salt, but definitely edible. Today I made an exception and what a surprise I got. I sat outside with my dog Zeke, not knowing that friendly dogs are allowed inside (and they aren't required to drink coffee!). I ordered my usual cappuccino with hazelnut and stayed outside with Zeke, enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Crown Point. My coffee was flavored with just the right amount of hazelnut and sweetness. I googled Ms Zolfo and found out she made national news for the goodness she spreads. Inspirational words are written on each coffee sleeve and she encourages people to spread it forward. She had a steady stream of customers while I was there. Most order their coffee to go. I chatted with her during a pause in customers and she revealed that she was hit hard during the covid pandemic and just recently re-opened the dining area, although she still hasn't brought back her food menu. The back wall is now full of cards and letters from customers who have thanked her for helping them. The little coffee shop truly is an uplifting place to start one's day.

While taking a call, my husband walked away from the outdoor seating, across the parking lot, to the far edge near the street before lighting a cigarette--about as far from the coffee shop as possible without standing in the road. A man behind the counter yelled across the entire property that it was a no-smoking establishment and they could smell it inside. I later learned he was Jill's husband. Had he simply walked outside and politely asked, my husband would have put the cigarette out. Maybe it was too far of a walk. Considering the shop has a huge garage-sized door open toward the parking lot and roadway, the reaction was baffling. If outside air, odors, exhaust, or smoke entering the building are such a concern, perhaps closing the enormous garage door. I later called Jill, who was very nice and professional. Her husband then called me, complained about my husband, and told me never to come back. There are respectful ways to handle customers.
