I've been here a handful of times. It's a miss for the food. Bagel breakfast sandwich was meh. Bagel was flat & tasted stale. Tomato was good, cucumber was ok. Wish it had something else. Stopped by The Sip in Cedar Lake on a Monday since my go-to, Cedar Lake Kitchen, was closed. Unfortunately, the experience was just okay. I ordered the egg sandwich, which arrived missing some of the listed ingredients. They were brought out later, but it definitely took away from the overall experience. The Thai tea was far too milky for my taste, and the coffee was just average--nothing particularly exciting or memorable. On top of that, the seating was very uncomfortable, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall, not a terrible visit, but not a place I'd rush back to. With a few improvements to food consistency, drink quality, and seating comfort, it could be much better. read more

This adorable coffee house ranks among one of my very favorite coffee houses. Impressive, local art adorn the walls while unique and comfortable furniture as well as original wooden flooring bring a truly earthy and comfy vibe. Polite and welcoming employees serve sophisticated dishes that are exceeded my expectations for a coffee house. A cute spot for coffee and bites when you're downtown Crown Point. Limited indoor seating but great outdoor seating options if the weather permits, my one comment would be prepare yourself for the noise from the street with outdoor seating being right inside the sidewalk if you're sensitive to noise. The French toast sticks were perfectly done and the egg salad sandwich paired well with the croissant. The drinks are amazing which goes without saying and the service was quick with kind employees. read more

Sip Coffee is a cute, quirky little cafe in the downtown Crown Point area with a view of the historic courthouse. We stopped in for basically brunch or a late breakfast. As a disclaimer, I'm a vegetarian with an egg allergy, so I appreciate that they had a vegan item of the month and a couple of other vegetarian items I could eat. I ended up with the cranberry salad with raspberry vinaigrette, and that was quite nice. I got a cold brew with oat milk, which came with perhaps more ice than I would like, but was otherwise good, and my husband got a cappuccino and an egg bagel sandwich, which he enjoyed very much. We sat indoors (the only remaining outdoor seating had no shade) by a window and it was a really nice spot. There was an odd barnyard smell when we'd first come in near the door, but it dissipated and didn't appear to spread into the cafe, so I suspect it wafted in through the door behind us. The decor is eclectic and very "coffee house" with many paintings by local artists on display and for sale, which is fun. The music was thankfully not so loud as to drown out any conversation with companions. Overall, a nice little cafe! read more

Was out in Crown Point, Indiana for a swim meet and found this hidden gem. Couldn't believe this was so enjoyable at 7 am in the morning. The staff and the owner were excellent. The food was top notch for something besides your normal egg and toast. Coffee and latte were great as well. We had come back the next wanting more. The decor and local art display were done tastefully. The arts are for sale also. Hope we'll be back in the area again. read more

I had a great experience at Sip! we were able to snag an outdoor table so we had a great view of the Crown Point square. Those in my party ordered coffee and tea - the drink options were so numerous. You could get a very flavored coffee bev all the way to the traditional cuppa or plain latte. And they had plain iced tea and a collection of loose teas that could be made hot or iced! I had a loose tea iced, which was so perfect on the warm day. We all also got the pick two option and all picked a salad and half of a sandwich. Everything was so fresh and with creative ingredients. Being in northwest Indiana, I loved that the wraps and sandwiches had a few choices that contained giardiniera. We didn't splurge but the baked goods looked tasty and they'd be a great complement to the teas and coffees. The inside was quirky with vibrant colors and art and a chalk board menu. Such a nice find! I was driving through the area and wanted to stop somewhere unique for coffee and lunch. This was perfect! This is right on the historic square and there were some seats outside the restaurant in anticipation of the warmer weather. They have so many great flavored lattes and brew Dark Matter coffee. I had an iced bananas foster latte the yardbird sandwich (but as a wrap). I also really liked the pasta salad that came with the wrap. I'll be back for sure! read more

I had a rather disappointing experience at this café, despite walking in with high hopes of supporting a small local business. I recently moved to the area and, without internet at home yet, I was drawn in by the sign advertising "Artisan Coffee" and WiFi, expecting to find a nice place to work while enjoying a good cup of coffee. On my first visit, I ordered a coffee directly at the counter, as one would do at places like Starbucks, and left a generous tip in the jar. Unfortunately, the coffee was subpar: the latte lacked the proper creamy texture because the barista simply heated the milk without taking care to texture it properly. On top of that, I ordered an espresso, which tasted oxidized, likely because the equipment isn't cleaned properly after each use. I decided to give them a second chance the next day. This time, when I approached the counter, a young woman greeted me in a rushed and rude manner. I couldn't understand her at first, so I asked her to repeat herself, and she curtly told me I needed to sit down because a server would bring the menu. I already knew what I wanted to order and wasn't trying to avoid tipping, but I sat down as instructed. That day, I only left them a one-dollar tip because the service was far from friendly. The coffee itself still doesn't meet the basic standards I would expect from a place marketing itself as "artisan." However, I must admit the breakfast sandwich I ordered was excellent. Still, the overall service remains unprofessional and chaotic. They should consider training their staff to be more courteous and attentive because the employees' attitude leaves much to be desired. Uniforms would also enhance their presentation and give a more polished impression. I understand that this is a rural area, but if they want to position themselves as an "artisan coffee" shop, they need to deliver more than just pretension: better customer service and properly prepared coffee would make a significant difference. A good WiFi connection and an appealing menu are not enough; customers return for the complete experience, and unfortunately, that is something they are not yet providing. read more

I was excited for this place--stopped by here while I was waiting to pickup a package. It's small and cluttered. When I walked in, the smell that hit me wasn't coffee--more like a musty cat-pee scent... it wasn't appealing. I ordered and the service was subpar and so slow. There were at least 3 workers so I am not sure if they were understaffed but they also didn't look super swamped. I can ignore the top two if the coffee was good, but it wasn't. I ordered the poltergeist to-go and it just didn't taste like anything--- too much milk with some burnt espresso. It's sad because it only comes in 20oz and was a bit over $7 (w/$1 tip). I ended up tossing it in an outside garbage can. With so many good reviews, maybe I just came on an off day for them? But even so, I don't think I'll try this place again. read more

Very disappointing to have to weed thru that and I honestly would've thrown it all away had that not been lunch that I ordered and had to wait for. I would not order again. Stopped there to try some cider. Never again! It tasted like they had put apple syrup in hot water. I took off the lid and it was exactly that with cinnamon stuck to the bottom. I cannot believe I paid $6 for this. Would not recommend this to anyone! read more

Cute spot in Hoosier land. It was a sunny afternoon when I decided to do a little work and grab a nice hot cup of tea at a local café. I came across Sip Coffee House in the heart of downtown Crown Point on Main Street. I planned to stay for only 30 minutes, but that turned into an hour! Upon arrival, I opened the red door and walked into what felt like a living room with its eccentric , bohemian, cozy style sofa and tables. Splashes of red and colorful artwork hung from the walls in what looked to be work from local artists. As I approached the display case, I spotted one of my favorite flavors on the menu: lavender! My hot lavender latte with whole milk was delightful. If you're ever in the area, this is definitely a nice place to stop to do a little work or have lunch with friends. read more

Just went here with a friend, and I loved their aesthetic here a lot! The store itself is a little small, so space inside is limited but they do have tables you can enjoy outside. In CP for a visit and walked down to Sip because I desperately needed a cup of coffee. Great place! The interior is nice, mellow vibe, cool artwork. We ordered a Cafe con Leche, a Cappuccino, oatmeal and a bagel. The coffee drinks were terrific. Really good. Some of the best I have had and likely the best I have EVER had in NW Indiana. Out and about recently, I had wanted a bite to eat...and since the weather was warm, I felt brunch would have been too much. So I decided to look for a coffee shop (or at least a sandwich place).....this place came up as a suggestion so figured what the heck. I found the place in the town square and walked over. Its not a really big place, but you walk in and its a cool vibe...reminds me of college house off campus with the offbeat art on the walls and not only tables and chairs throughout, but also couches where one could enjoy a meal while in conversation or on your laptop or phone. Sitting down, I got a menu and took a good look at it....there was a sandwich which had turkey and goat cheese with some pesto. Was curious about it so decided to try it....along with some cold brewed coffee. They bring out the coffee and it looks like a Mason Quart Jar....was nice and cold and very tasty. Then the sandwich comes out. Its on toasted bread and looks great. It was very tasty too....the goat cheese was the perfect filling for this sandwich (along with the pesto and turkey too!) There was also pasta salad (with a light oil/vinegar dressing and parmesan cheese) that came with the sandwich. All in all, a cool place to check out in downtown Crown Point. They have a decent-sized menu with plenty of food and drink to try out. And I will be back one day to enjoy another great drink and eats.... read more

My first stop here was very nice. The eclectic vibe is very relaxing and welcoming. Between the cool artwork on the wall and the fun knickknacks throughout, I felt warm and welcome. There are some great coffee and tea options as well as some tasty artisan sandwiches offered on a nice variety of breads. The "artisan" sandwich I had was craftily prepared and flavorful. I frequent Sip in Highland and was happy to see this one in Crown Point. I got a seasonal Chai Latte and it was really great. They use real tea leaves here - not chai from concentrate and it makes all the difference. Their food is also pretty good. The decor is really not to my taste (it's all very eclectic) but it's local and the quality matters more than the atmosphere here. read more

Before leaving, I grabbed a drink to go. I wanted to try a bubble drink to compare to the ones back at home. Upon recommendation, I went for the Strawberry Kiwi bubble drink. I thought it was a tea, but it was actually a blended slush. A little disappointed after a taste because the boba was tasteless and the fruity flavor of the drink was barely distinguishable! For me, I'd stick to the coffees because it is a coffee shop after all. SERVICE The workers were very nice! This is very unprofessional, my food has a bug in the pasta!! It looks like it was some sort of flying pupae. And it was fairly large which means they had to of seen it. It was about half the size of one of their pasta noodles, and considering it was in with the pasta means it has contaminated the whole batch. Yellow goo was spewing out of it. read more

We finally made it to the Sip Coffee Shop in Crown Point. What a cute place! Place is decorated so cute and comfy. The place is super clean too. Employees were all very friendly and helpful.
