Oh my lord. Duncan's BBQ in Lone Oak Texas is absolutely delicious. The East Texas Twinkie is so freaking good. The 45 minute wait in line was totally worth it. I've tried to eat here twice and both times I was met by a 'Sold Out' sign, today at 3:30 in the afternoon. There won't be a third try. If you're sold out, put that message on your phone answering machine instead of saying you're not taking orders. There's a difference. The food was delicious. Pulled over after reading Yelp reviews. So glad I did. Smokey flavored pulled pork on a wonderful toasted bun. I could only eat half my sandwich because it was so large. Potato salad is very tasty and super creamy. I loved the jalapeño pinto beans. Smokey tasting with lots of meat added in. Be sure to give them a try. read more

Better get there early, line will be long & they run out of food! This is the best BBQ & you'll be glad you stood in line! Only open a few days weekly, so check their hours! Went here after church for a Sunday lunch. Ordered BBQ for two. Two sandwiches. Plenty of tasty beef on both sandwiches. Plenty of Texas BBQ flavor. It was quick service for a busy day. Plenty of smiles from team members. Country style setting here, inside and outside seating. Tables were clean and restroom was really clean. These people take pride in there place of business. This was my first time at Duncan's. From what I understand they have been here for years. I gotta say it's not a bad little BBQ place. It's in rural east Texas where there aren't a lot of restaurant options so this was a nice find. There isn't a lot of seating inside but there's plenty of covered patio seating. Out for a Sunday ride and happened upon this place. Texas Twinkie, 1/4 meat, 2 sides and a drink for $12.99 was the special. Had that and ordered 2 more TX Twinkies. Best Twinkies I've ever had! We were traveling and stopped in to grab a bite to eat. I'm so glad we did, the food was great! I had the East Texas twister special with brisket. The super friendly gentleman who was getting the meat portion of my plate asked if" I wanted lean or fatty brisket?" I went with the fatty portion, and when he sliced it my mouth was salivating. I saw that thick bark and juice running off the side of my brisket and I knew I made the right choice. The special also comes with two sides. I went with the Jalepeno beans and cucumber salad as my sides. The beans were average, personally I think if they chop the brisket trim and leftovers up and put it in the beans that would add lots of flavor. The brisket, was so good that if we were headed home I would have been buying to go pounds. The bark had so much flavor, right amount of smoke and seasonings, the pull was tender not tough anywhere. I liked the Texas twister as well, and the dipping sauce paired well with it. The cucumber tomato salad was the absolute best that I have eaten from any restaurant anywhere! The cucumbers were crisp and not soggy and the vinegarette they used is divine. Next time getting a bigger serving. The picnic table seating was a bit challenging for me to sit down with the type of dress I had on, but I managed to get down there without exposing the other customers. Lol! The noise level was fairly quite considering the whole inside seating was full. Although they had music playing, it was a great atmosphere and you could hear the party you were with, without having to yell. Way to go Duncan's! read more

We drove from Albuquerque, NM to visit some family. This place was recommended, and WOW!!!!!!!! We ordered pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Let me just that THAT was ridiculous, we've never had Bbq so moist, falling apart and flavorful! We had some sides as well, Mac and cheese, potato salad, and cucumber salad. AGAIN, didn't miss. Phenomenal. I wish we could take you back to New Mexico with us. The service was amazing and the people were so friendly. Keep doing what you're doing, because that was an experience! Happened to be out in Loan Oak(closer to I-30) and my partner suggested a breakfast spot in Lone Oak....lo and behold we drove into the middle of the July 4th parade (on the 3rd) so brekki at the spot he mentioned was not on. We were going to go to Greenville but he decided to pull over into Duncan BBQ instead, we had to wait till 11am but got some work done on the patio while waiting. When the place opened at 11am sharp, we walked right in and up to the counter to place our order. The cutter was quick and welcoming, his aide pleasant and efficient. It is a bit of an art watching him and I regret not taking a video, I'm more of a writer....but I digress. He slices the briskest, sausages and ribs with precision. Placed them on the serving tray which is on a scale, his aide put the sides on the corners of the tray in tandem, it's a bit of an event which only build the anticipation. Slide down, pay, get your cup and mosey on into the seating area, or patio. It's all very rustic, expected for a smaller town in TX, there was an old sink inside to wash your hands and one bathroom for all parties to use. Bathroom was clean and has plates all on one side. Fair warning for the uninitiated; BBQ is not cheap, but there 3 meat plate is great value and takes some real work finishing it. My son works for one of the top rated BBQ spots in DFW(Frisco/Mckinney stores) and the brisket is just about on a par with theirs, but cheaper. Ribs were moist and flavorful and sausage was right heat, pop on the casing and just enough seasoning and smoke. For the sides, both were excellent and even though I'm not a huge banana pudding guy, it was good. Cost was $53 for three grown men with solid appetites and we walked out of there sideways. Great food, I mean really good stuff. If you are a BBQ guy/gal go get some, take your family -!: enjoy some good TX BBQ. read more

If you're looking for great bbq, this is definitely worth stopping for. Driving by, it looks like a simple metal building with a shed out back, and that's exactly what it is, simple. No muss, no fuss, just dang good bbq. When we walked in the smell of wood smoke was thick, and when they got the brisket out of the warmer, it had that perfect jiggle. All of the meat was delicious, and the sides were on point. I had the beans and the potato salad and the were excellent. I went fishing on Lake Fork and came across this place afterwards on accident on the way home. Hands down, it's the best I have had in Texas. How they haven't made it on one of those cooking shows is beyond me. The pork, ribs, and brisket is amazing. The bread pudding is the best too. The service is great!
