We were thoroughly enjoying all of the New Mexican cuisine we were also missing some home cooked Asian food that is our comfort, go to! We decided to go to Dumpling Tea & Dim Sum and we were blown away by the food, service and learning about the owners and their journey to Santa Fe!! First the service - we ordered and got our food served to us! The food! Wow! I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and soup buns! So so delicious!!! The owner shared his story of moving to Santa Fe after being in New York but covid happened. His wife and daughter along with his parents were arriving soon! We were so happy to learn about his story and happy that he was going to reunite with his family! The place is within a plaza area with other businesses. Located near Santa Fe Plaza, Dumpling Tea & Dim Sum was a nice change from New Mexican cuisine for those who are staying more than a few days in the area. Saw the chef making soup dumpling while checking out the menu so that sealed the deal for us. We had an order of soup dumpling, beef noodle soup, and spicy wonton. Soup dumpling are huge, easily 3 times the size of xlb from Ding Tai Fung, tasty, soupy inside and chewy wrapping. Beef noodle soup was very good, not overly salty. Watch out for the heat level on spicy wonton for those who may not be able to handle it. There are seating inside the restaurant and right outside as well. Found this great dim sum spot in the Santa Fe plaza mall. They were overwhelmed on NYE so it took a while for our to-go order of dumplings to be prepped. The pan-fried veggie dumplings were huge, with a generous filling of minced vegetables. They were served with soy and chilli sauces. Very tasty! read more

Hence on my quest to look for maybe some Asian food. And I stumbled across this little hole in the wall place. Hidden inside one of these historic Adobe style buildings that look like a miniature mall on the 2nd floor May not look like much but I saw the chefs hand making the dumplings. Fresh and not frozen. My wife's a fan of dumplings everywhere we travel for this was nice for her to get to try everything. Well almost everything. We found this place inside one of the malls. The staff were nice and gave us a number for our table. You could choose from tables inside the restaurant or in the walk way of the mall. We ordered the pan fried shrimp dumplings and they came out quickly. They were stuffed with minced shrimp, green onion, and spices. They were so flavorful and delicious! My group all left happy and satisfied after finding this dumpling place. I have been craving soup dumplings and bao but wasn't sure where to go in town. The beef bao was delicious and hit the spot. You get four and they can really fill you up. The soup dumplings were okay, I thought the dough was kinda chewy and it wasn't very warm. Normally, when you get soup dumplings they are steaming hot and you have to carefully bite a small hole to let some of the steam out. So I was disappointed they were only warm. My husband really liked the curry chicken soup, he got the spiciest version and still didn't think it was that spicy. They have different levels you can choose from so just know yourself and your spice level! (His is quite high) You do have to pay for water bottles so if you can bring your own water. The owner is friendly and helpful. We watched a man making homemade dumplings and then hand pulled noodles. We ordered the cucumber salad and the lime in the dressing made them irresistible. The pork steamed dumplings were huge, flavorful and soft, yet yummy chewy, and the soups (we ordered one chicken and one shrimp) were tasty, healthy, and huge. The hand pulled noodles made the soups even more perfect. There was a soy based dipping sauce on the table and also their version of sriracha. Oh my, I would buy that sriracha if I lived here. We were in the Santa Fe and Albuquerque area for 8 days, and got plenty of Tex-mex food, so much so that I needed a break for Asian food. Hole in the wall restaurant at the end of a shopping mall, farthest from the end next to the Plaza in Santa Fe. Place clean and attractive with the usual pictures and décor from the homeland. Bathrooms downstairs and require a code to enter. Tables in the middle of a food court shared by others. Lack of service in that the tables were full of crumbs from previous occupants. Had to order at the counter fast food style, but they expect the full 20% tip Wife found the Dan Dan noodles too salty, so we switched plates. I loved the flavor and texture of the bits of pork in the soup, although noodles were in short supply. Noodles, bok choy, green onions mixed with bits of pork and peanuts went well together. Not too fond of the beef noodle soup. Came with lots of noodles, green onions in a beef broth with perhaps a dozen chunks of beef. The beef chunks were too large for my delicate teeth to chew. Didn't want a repeat of having a crown on a root canal tooth breaking off, as the cost of a tooth implant replacement would have exceeded the entire cost of this week trip -airline fares, hotel fees, car rental, and restaurant costs. I had to tear apart the chunks by hand into smaller pieces. Wife took over and slurped everything in the bowl down to the last drop. And no, I didn't wash my hands prior to eating here. read more

When you walk in to the sight of a woman hand rolling dumplings in front of you, you just know you're in for something special. The wonton soup was my favorite of the dishes we tried, which I was not expecting at all. The broth was very light, not the very heavily salted soup you might be expecting. The wontons are thick and luscious. Super delicious. The soup dumplings were very satisfying, but the bottoms did have a tendency to break open if you weren't super careful. Packed with flavor and a thick hand rolled shell. So good. The place itself is not very large, but there are additional tables just outside the door. Perfect stop for a cold winter's night. There are so many vegetarian and vegan (I think) options here, which can be unusual for Chinese places. You can tell they really care about good food, and you can even watch them make the dumplings. My hot and sour vegetable sweet potato rice noodle soup was the perfect blend of both flavors and textures, from the silky smooth slippery clear purple noodles to soft spinach to crunchy peanuts, and they got the balance of got sour and salty spot on. They really put a generous variety of vegetables in, so it seemed like a really nourishing (but without feeling like you're just eating a salad) and delicious meal.
