Sorry folks, I was expecting some decent Sichuan Chinese cooking. Having lived in Sichuan for several years, I was expecting something authentic. I loved that the place was filled with Chinese, that's a good sign, but their forte is northern Chinese food. Nice dumplings, but the spicy chicken was bu hao and the fu gi fei pian was sweet! How could you?!? And the slices were chucks of organ meat, they need to be razor thin. No ma la taste either. Perhaps a trip to Sichuan or Chong Qing can fix that. read more

Wow..the beef noodle bowl was amazing. A nice big hot bowl steaming in front of my eyes. The flavor was out of this world. Noodles were perfectly cooked. I also had the crab ragoon. Very nice! I would recommend you give this place a try! read more

This is the best Chinese food in the area, freshly cooked and always hot. Don't go anywhere else in Muncie for Chinese , Dumpling House is the best! read more

This is without a doubt one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to, if not the best. Excellent menu with more than your typical Chinese restaurant choices. Everything tastes FRESH. I love that the fried rice doesn't have the strange yellow color like so many other places do. Everything I have tried has been delicious. The restaurant is located in an Asian market so check that out too. read more

Great Chinese food. The dumplings are best around Indiana. If only one could order less than 12 dumplings at a time. The Asian market is also fantastic. Great for bean sprouts and baby bok choy among other things. read more

Absolutely delicious and far from American Chinese. Great flavors in a specific style. I had a boiled fish in chili side based on a recommendation and really enjoyed the unique flavors. read more

Dumpling House - Chinese Near Me - Muncie, Indiana

Such a surprise to find an excellent and inexpensive Chinese restaurant in Muncie. it is obvious from the dishes that the family is committed to high quality ingredients and performing their craft from a long history of experience. read more

The best place in Muncie for authentic Chinese food! It's a cozy place, but everyone is very friendly. The food is priced really well, and there is an attached Asian market. It's a little out of the way, but well worth it. read more

Went here on a visit to Muncie to see family. We ordered two kinds of dumplings (chicken and mushroom, pork and cabbage), veggie lo mein, honey chicken, and crab rangoon. We all agreed it was all excellent. Only exceptions were that the fried rice that came with the honey chicken was just okay and the egg rolls were good but nothing spectacular. The crab rangoon was very good and we all thought it was the best lo mein we had ever had. Honey chicken and dumplings did not disappoint. The man who served us was helpful and very nice. It's a cute little place. I will definitely go back on my next visit to Muncie. read more

Delicious, authentic food. Generous portions. Relaxed atmosphere. Service can be spotty if they're really busy and I wish they had a soda machine instead of serving canned soda, but I've never been disappointed with my experience. Do yourself the biggest favor of your life and order the crab rangoon. read more

Didn't expect to find good Chinese food here in Muncie during a business trip. Got takeout after I asked for a suggestion from the restaurant since i didn't have a menu -- they asked me if I wanted an authentic Chinese suggestion or American one. Got the diced chicken with cabbage and pork dumplings. Chinese cabbage stayed crisp even after taking it back to my hotel, and the handmade dumplings were tasty as well! Keep it up guys! Way to bring some Chinese culture to the small town Midwest! read more

We just discovered this incredible gem and will definitely be back for more! We ordered the hot and sour soup, pork and cabbage dumplings and the kimchi pork. Each dish was delicious, flavorful, and came out very quickly. We were impressed by the speedy service, and the helpful staff. It was pretty quiet when we went in and I asked if they would put on a little music - they did and it helped liven it up a little. read more

This place is awesome! The soup is fantastic, the family is extremely welcoming and kind, and the crab ragoons.... No words. Decently priced and so worth the money!! My favorite place to eat in Muncie!! read more

Came in last Thursday for a general tso chicken .. Let me tell you it was fantastic .. My husband who passed was a huge fan of asian food and I have been anxiously waiting for a good chinese spot in town for years .. Great food , everyone else's rice is not up to par read more

This is probably the most authentic Chinese dining experience I have found in the US, and I have been searching since my trip to China. The market is nice to get things you may not be able to find in your usual grocery store. Plates are a bit bigger, but a lot of that has to do with Chinese culture as food is shared. Most food has pictures to get an idea of what you will be eating. They are serious about hours and will most likely not serve you 10 minutes before close. read more

I don't know what has been going on there recently. Sometime the restaurant is serving food. Sometimes it isn't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason on which one it is. Hopefully when BSU comes back in session it will be open Food is very good when they are actually taking orders. The grocery has a wide variety of things. read more

Ate lunch there today. Very happy with the meal! Ordered a couple of typical Chinese-American staples (steamed pork dumplings, chicken lo mein) and everything tasted like normal (in a good way) East Coast/city Chinese food. Huge improvement from the crappy buffet Chinese food you normally see in this state. I'll definitely go back and try more dishes. read more

This restaurant is in the Asian Market, its a family type place with a slightly different than the usual menu. As the name suggests, they are have dumplings of different types both steamed and fried, 14/order steamed, 12 fried. We had pork and kimchee, pork and cabbage, both were excellent. Pretty inexpensive too. It's a hidden gem in Muncie. I'll have to come back and try the other dishes too, they look really interesting. read more

It is yummy in one's tummy. Authentic Chinese, inauthentic Chinese. Whatever you want, they've got you covered, home slice.

Excellent place! A little weird to get into - you walk through a market, and the doors have newspaper all over them. But don't let that turn you off!! Go for it. read more

The boiled fish in hot chili oil is one of my favorite dishes. It is very authentic and tasty. It was a nice surprise to find an actual Chinese restaurant which offers authentic Chinese food. The dumplings are also very good. The wrap seemed like home made. When you visit I suggest trying something other than what you find on a Chinese American menu. You will be happy you did! read more

I find it very difficult to find Asian food that hasn't been "Americanized". Dumpling house has delicious, authentic Chinese food that keeps me coming back. Portions are large and enough to fill you up and take a bit home. read more

I instantly fell for this place when they opened. I was allready a regular visitor to the Asian grocery that is here (being the only one in the entire county). Once the restaurant opened though, I began visiting even more. For starters, they do have the normal chinese/american takeout options, but they use better quality meat and the flavors are much brighter than the other places in town. Ontop of that, they have an entire, traditional chinese menu as well. They offer an authentic chinese family-dining experience that you can't get anywhere else in the area. My only regret is that they don't deliver, but due to the high-volume of customers they allready have I'm worried if they DID deliver the quality of the food would drop. Probably for the best they keep it up they way they allready are. read more

This place is awesome! You get a ton of very delicious food for a shockingly low price. The staff is friendly. The service is good and the food didn't take long to come out. It's inside the Asian market, so if you need to pick up anything, you can get both done at once. Give it a try! read more

Soooo good. Try to get real Chinese food here. If you're looking for a classic takeout American-Chinese type of place.. don't go here. They will have that food just to have it on the menu, but that is not why you go there. Get the lamb with cumin spices, get the broiled beef, GET THE EGGPLANT AND POTATO IN GARLIC SAUCE. It's great food. Top 3 restaurants in Indiana easy. read more

I stopped into town and looked at what yelp users were suggesting. The place was easy to find but the restaurant was not because it was inside the Asian market and not labeled. The menu was extensive. The dumplings were good but not great. The dried chili chicken was not good. Fried rice was not good. The prices were decent. Service was not the best. Got a pouty teenage girl as our server who clearly did not want to be there. There is also a language barrier but I could live just pointing fingers just didn't like the rude service. read more

This place is legit! Best independent Chinese place I have seen in quite some time. The we ordered dinner for takeout for a family gathering and got to sample a lot of the menu. The dumplings were great, and the lamb stir fry were my favorites but everything was good. read more

My brother and I stopped by for lunch the other day and we were really surprised at the quality of food that was served. While the location was quiet with no music playing the male server was courteous and the food came reasonably quickly for being freshly cooked. The only problem we had was that I forgot to tip and the server deserved a few dollars for his positive attitude. So the next time I visit I will correct that mistake and overall I recommend this spot to anyone in muncie looking for a unique Chinese food experience. read more

Delicious food. Fast service and great prices. The wait staff was very helpful with describing the dishes. We will definitely go back.

The food was fantastic!!!! Huge portion sizes, great prices. A gem in Muncie for great food.

The dumplings were amazing. I tried the pork & cabbage fried dumplings and will definitely be getting again. I also got the egg drop soup & found that it was different from any other egg drop soups from other places, I didn't care for it. They also did not have anything crunchy to put in the soup, I wish they would have, to add texture to the soup. The service was slow. Took over 40 minutes to get food however, it may have just been the day itself. I also tried the cashew chicken with fried rice & it was very good! Would definitely get again. The only other thing is I wish it told you what came on the chicken. It came with lots of vegetables & a sauce. If I get this again I will ask for no onions & green peppers. For the price you get a lot of food as well! read more

Just had dinner there and it was excellent! The food was very fresh, it was quiet and clean, and the pricing was very reasonable. Our service was also great! I could easily say this is the best Chinese food in Muncie. read more

Very good Chinese!! I have only eaten here once, so I'm not sure it's the best in the Muncie area, but it's very good. I had the hot and sour soup (delicious and spicier than most), and the generals chicken. Restaurant is inside of an Asian market and not fancy. Prices are cheap also, two meals/with drinks including tip was under $20.00. I will eat here again for sure! read more

I've been here a couple of times since it opened and it's definitely worth a visit. Their menu clearly separates what is Americanized Chinese from what is authentic. They also have pictures displaying every item in the menu, so nifty. Being a vegetarian, there were tons of options for me to try. Definitely the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the Muncie area. Service is a bit slow and I've had to refill my own water cup a couple times. It's understandable when there's not an open table and only one server. Still a great place to get some good Chinese food. read more

This is the best Asian food I've had in REALLY REALLY long time. Competes with San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle. We wish we could have eaten more. Super sad we live 1 1/2 hours away. I'll drive down just to eat here. Bravo!! read more

I've been moved away from Muncie for two years and I'm still dreaming of steamed dumplings from Dumpling House. Their meals were excellent and so inexpensive, too. Muncie has very few good local restaurants. PLEASE GO! You won't regret it. read more

I eat Chinese food all the time and can honestly say that I have never had bad Chinese food before. I didn't know it was possible. I had Chinese food in many states, The dumpling house was the worst. Food was was dry and tasteless and this food was awful--very dry food, stringy meat, soggy vegetables. Never again. Sorry read more

Very small, almost hidden place. The steamed pork and cabbage dumplings are to die for. The service was great. Food was quick, and FANTASIC. We tried several dishes and with every new taste came a "mmmm", or a "yummmm". read more

Do yourself a favor and Eat here... Don't be fooled by the dining room in the back of a Chinese market. It's a funky layout for sure and the décor is underwhelming... who cares... the food rocks. The place is clean and the staff is efficient. We had dumplings (steamed pork/cabbage), beef and hot peppers noodles, chicken lo mein and a shredded pork and garlic. The lo mein was lacking in depth compared to the other dishes but still very good. The dumplings were flavorful and delicious. I can't describe how good the garlic pork was... amazing! The beef and hot peppers came and the waiter explained how to mix the gravy with the noodles. At first i was like "what" but after following directions... Holy cow this is good. It's not "Hot" but seasoned just right. Nothing needed to be added to anything... everything was delicious. Never mind the location... it's clean and the food is some of the best I've ever eaten. read more
