Pork Wonton with Sesame Sauce Chili Oil
    Toby M.

A small dumpling restaurant that has the best XLB I've had in a long time! More than comparable to the XLB competitors and giants. The pork XLB dumplings were very flavorful, did not easily break, and had a lot of soup inside. The siu mai was pretty average and the spicy wontons were bland, but the pan fried buns were another favorite as it was juicy and the dough wasn't too thick and overwhelming like many places. The most impressive part about the dumplings were their size - larger than you'll find anywhere else! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back (even if it's another one of their locations)!

This is my go to dimsum spot. It's so good , the food is made to order, Ive never been disappointed. They're so polite and make sure you get everything you've ordered. It can be very busy sometimes but it's always a short wait, and if there is a wait it's worth it

Happened to walk past this and the dumplings looked so good we had to stop by for an early dinner. Plenty of tables available on a Sunday around 4pm. You order by scanning the QR code. We got pork xlb, dan dan noodles, juicy panfried pork buns, and hot and sour soup. Everything was so so good. The xlb was so juicy and big. Love that it comes with a spoon that makes it easier to eat. This would be my go to dumpling spot if I didn't live so far away

This place was great! Kid friendly! Loved the outdoor seating. You order through the online QR code. The food comes out nice and fresh/hot. The service was great! Fast and friendly! We enjoyed the pan fried juicy baos! Everything was just perfect! We'll be back soon!

Great dumpling spot in downtown walnut creek! Our group of 6 visited on a Saturday afternoon and was seated shortly arrival. Ordering was easy peasy through a QR code. Staff interaction was minimal and the food came out fast and piping! We shared 2 orders of the pork XLB, 2 orders of sesame sauce chili oil wontons, pan fried pork buns, cucumbers, dan dan noodles, hot and sour soup, garlic green beans. It was just the right amount of food and hits just right. Highly recommend the XLB, pan fried pork buns, dan dan noodles and garlic green beans. The chili oil wontons were just a tad too sesame sauce heavy. Solid dumpling spot!

It was our first time in Walnut Creek and we were very hungry, just walking around looking for a place to eat. The red outdoor tables caught our attention, so we decided to sit down. We ordered the beef dumplings, the beef noodle soup, and the garlic cucumber salad. The dumplings were delicious and well balanced. Very flavorful. The noodle soup was also very good -- we really liked the broth; the base had great flavor and the beef was tender. It was simple in terms of ingredients (beef, noodles, and bok choy), and while everything was well prepared, I think it could be elevated even more by adding a bit more variety of vegetables to make it feel richer and more layered. I'd even be happy to pay more for a more loaded version. The garlic cucumber salad was fresh and perfectly crisp. Overall, it was a very good price-to-quality experience, and the service was friendly.

Came here for lunch and it was pretty busy. Lots of tables inside and outside. You order through a QR code and we got our food fairly quickly. We ordered the following: Dry Fried Chicken Wings Black Truffle & Pork Xiao Long Bao Shrimp Pork Chives Dumplings Dan Dan Sesame Dry Noodles Shumai The chicken wings and the black truffle xiao baos were my favorite. The dumplings and noodles were ehh, which it had more flavor. Overall a good spot for lunch and would give it another chance and try other items.

In the area and wanted so dumplings during this cold weather. For a Friday night, us four got really lucky and got seated right away. You scanned the menu to order. The food came out really fast. Everything we ate was good and good portion. I wish the green onion pancakes were a little bit more crispy and more dough. It was a little dense. Otherwise we left full. You will have to find street parking. The staff kind of leave you alone. If you need something, you will have to flag a person down.

Finally got to try this place out after walking by it so many times. Me and my friend ordered take out and the food was ready super quick! We ordered the pork wonton soup, the sweet and sour soup, the pork wontons with sesame sauce and chili oil, as well as the pork siu mai. The food was incredibley flavorful and delicious, I really enjoyed the sweet and sour soup. The perfect combination of sweet and sour with what I think was crunchy bamboo shoots for texture. It was a huge portion too, as well as the wonton soup. Highly recommend trying this place out if you get a chance.

Wanted to try this place last times we were in Walnut Creek, and since we're up here in the Bay Area for our President's day weekend and visiting the boys we had our Sunday Dim Sun here. Probably one of the better places outside of Chinatown in LA,SF, Monterey Park and that's saying something. Small spot but the tables are always full and the staff is fast and friendly. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

My baby's mama cried and beg to go here. I stood in front looking at the most plain restaurant sign that ever existed, it's probably font arial narrow, font size 150 made in Office Word. It says Dumpling Hours. I sighed. Oh geez, ok let's go inside. Definitely nicer inside. Looked at the menu and it appears to have a few less items than other dumpling places. She placed her orders, I just got the spicy beef noodle soup. Plates started piling up on our small table, then I took a bite. Hold the front door. I took a second bite. Mama Mia. Then I finished off one plate, then another plate then my soup. Little piggy slow down, she says. Fuck no. This is some bomb ass food, I said with a noodle dangling from the corner of my mouth. She grinned and smirked, 'told you so' was the last words I heard before I fell into a food coma that lasted till Thursday

i've been to dumpling hours several times and always left with a full belly. the dumpling and noodles are always so delicious. when I come here, I usually come with a group of people and we end up share plates. it's led to me trying things I usually wouldn't and i'm consistently happy that I did. try the most popular idea you're comfortable with or something new to you, either way you're in great hands!

Very tasty dumplings especially the Xiao long bao. The okra was quite tasty. Parking is paid metered on the street and affordable: only a few bucks for the duration of dinner. Service was quick: seated quickly, server came by to check: could either with her or with the QR code. Will come again. Store was clean, a narrow long store, quite a few 2 seater high tables at the back end of the store.

The space itself is very welcoming and open -- clean, comfortable, and not overly stuffy. The servers were attentive, friendly, and genuinely kind throughout the meal. This isn't always created equally. lol some places it almost looks like they served frozen store bought siu Mai, but this was legit! Honey walnut prawns - I'm obsessed with this!! It was perfectly cooked! Nice and crispy on the outside and the shrimp fully cooked on the inside. Fried shrimp dumpling: this is my go to at most dumplings sum places. It was delish! Chicken Crispy Noodles: this is the star of the show for me. Their pan fried noodles are perfect. It reminds me of a place I used to go to in sf when I was in middle school which is no longer there. The taste, texture of the noodles brought back memories! I know there are many iterations of pan fried Hong Kong style noodles, but those are also not created equally. This is a winner! Mapo tofu: this is hubby's favorite. We really enjoyed it and will definitely get it again! I'm not going to list everything we got, but I did put the ones that are my favs. Everything we ordered was amazing. What helps too is that the ladies that work here are all so friendly! As I was serving the soup, I noticed something unusual. When I picked it out and placed it on the counter, it was clearly a yellow worm. Completely shocked, I contacted Uber Eats customer service. They only offered a refund for the soup, not the chow fun, because the issue wasn't visible in that item. But honestly, how am I supposed to feel comfortable eating anything else from the same order after finding a worm in one dish? I then called the restaurant to report what happened, and instead of addressing the seriousness of the issue, the manager asked what we wanted them to do and even offered free food. That response was disappointing and didn't feel appropriate given the situation. It's unfortunate because we've ordered from here before and the food was good, but after this experience, we couldn't bring ourselves to eat the rest of the meal. Dinner and our appetite was completely ruined and it came with a price.

Korean pop music played softly while other customers ate lunch. I was seated at the booth and was served a glass of water to start. I got the #2015 Salt and Pepper Fish Filet lunch special with hot and sour soup of the day, egg roll, and substituted-in fried rice. I was served the hot and sour soup first. It was a wonderful appetizer. The classic spicy pepper and sour vinegar were balanced. The bits of crunchy mushroom and soft tofu added interest and texture to the thick broth. This was comfort in a bowl. The entree was delicious. The fried fish was hot off the wok when it arrived, steaming on the plate along with fried rice, broccoli, an egg roll, and some sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed the fish; the heat of the jalapeno slices and the salt elevated the light crispiness and mild sweetness of the fish. The fried rice was light and fluffy with bits of egg. The sauteed broccoli had a solid crunch, and the vegetable egg roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This was a good, satisfying lunch at Aberdeen Café. The pork xiao long bao was very bland in my opinion; I had to rely on the vinegar for some flavoring. The skin is very thick, and there is just simply not enough broth in the xiao long bao. I expected more from this, as xiao long baos are their signature dish. The beef rolls were mediocre; the beef rolls I've eaten are usually dripping with hoisin sauce or oil. This one is very dry. It's really crunchy though, so that's a pro! The Shanghai shrimp chowmein was the best dish out of all. Each bite was a rush of flavor, I can taste the wok air!! As I am a thick noodles person, these noodles were perfect for me. 88 bao bao, you gotta slide me the recipe for this chow mein, hahah! The pan fried pork buns were good. Loved the broth for this one, and they were pan fried perfectly. However, the meat was more dense and compressed than the traditional ones. The chocolate xiao long baos was far from what I expected. I know this new trendy chocolate xiao long baos roots from din tai fung's menu, and there have been countless recipes of them online, the most popular being the Lindt chocolate wrapped in the xl bao skin. I'll stop beating around the bush. A bite into 88 bao bao's chocolate xiao long bao, it was Lindt. I don't know if I'll ever pay 9 bucks for something that is so simply made. Additionally, I'm sure they way overcooked it, cause the chocolate has the same consistency as water. A bite causes a whole splash. Service was very attentive. I've heard of Yi Ji Chang Fen but only tried it today. I've eaten so much dim sum in my lifetime, so my standard for dim sum may be higher. We came around 5PM on a Saturday and there wasn't anyone really there. It could be because dim sum feels more like a morning or lunch thing, or it could just be because we were there for a very early dinner. Between our party, we shared: - Marinated Chicken and Mushroom Rice Roll - Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce - Black Gold Egg Custard Buns - Chicken Feet with Herbs - Dry Style Beef Chow Fun And one Honey Lemon Tea for me. The honey lemon tea was a comfort for the cold day. Maybe a bit too much honey, but still good for the throat during the dry season. The chow fun came first and surprisingly it was not bad. There was a bit of 'wok hey' there and it stands out as one of the better dishes we had. As for the rice roll - I wanted to try something less conventional and I've never seen chicken in rice rolls, so I thought it would be interesting to try. It was quite disappointing though. Their rice roll was bigger than normal in width so with rice rolls being a struggle to pick up already, the bigger size made it an even bigger struggle. Everything just slipped out of the rice roll and it wasn't evenly wrapped. There were some bunched up layers on the edges. I think the chicken just didn't pair that well either and it was lacking in ingredients. Maybe the more conventional rice rolls would be better. For the two types of chicken feet, I normally like the one in herbal soup. If made well, the chicken feet has a nice flavor to it. For Yi Fen's herbal chicken feet, their portion was pretty good, but flavor was less prominent. I enjoyed the chicken feet in black bean sauce more because the flavor was better. Lastly, for the stuffed sticky rice and black gold egg custard buns, I suspect that these are not made in-house, but rather store-bought. The sticky rice lacked ingredients and the rice was a little harder than if made fresh. And the perfectly shaped black buns with a golden brush stroke on top (which I've seen all over the internet) seemed too elevated-looking compared to everything else. I'm not the biggest fan of molten lava buns, but they came out nicely. I didn't have any, but the molten lava custard was pretty runny. All in all, an okay experience. Service was a bit lacking. I don't recommend the dim sum dishes, but if I happen to want congee, I may give this place another go. Apart from the dim sum and rice rolls, the noodles I glimpsed from other customers looked not bad. I wonder if other locations are better.

Still prefer the San Lorenzo store but wouldn't hesitate coming back when in the area.
