Four of us came here to celebrate two birthdays on a Wednesday at 11:00am, excellent service-waiter was helping with suggestions, and everything was super tasty and good! We were most impressed and curious about the Pan Fried Pork Buns, they had soup inside too! Creative. The Crab and Pork XLB super yummy too, the crab was minute tho, but wasn't expecting a whole lot or anything :) We also ordered the chicken and mushroom boiled dumplings, they were good too but not as fun. The flower pot of tea (green tea) was cool with some pink flowers suddenly "bloomed" in the pot. Food 5/5 Tried the pork soup dumplings, spicy wontons, Egg Drop Soup, Dan Dan Noodles, potato salad, green onion pancake, and pan fried dumplings. No kidding everything was significantly better than expected and I can say the best dumplings I've had so far in East Bay. The sesame spicy wontons were really flavorful and the soup was very tasty. Soup dumplings were hot, the soup was amazing, and the meat inside delightful. Service 5/5 They kept coming to refill waters which was awesome. They explained how to order (via phone) and to made recommendations. Ambiance 5/5 It was clean, the tables were right size for food. We finally got to try this place after their soft opening. The dim sum was delicious. Our favorite dish was the Juicy Pan-Fried Soup Dumplings. I'm upset that we were treated unfairly and discriminated against for who we are, and we are owners of property and members of this community. I pulled these pieces of Grissles out of my childs bowl, after they choked off the hard parts, and just threw the whole soup away. The Food we were given to Go, wasn't even Edible for DOGS, I have never been given any kind of food like this, ever in my life! This place would not be in business if they sold food like this, and I'm seeing all the reviews from customers who are not of African AMerican descent. We spent closed to 35$ for 2 bowls of soup, and this bowl caused my child to have to seek medical Attention! I'm Furious, because they had to have known what they were giving us, We ate one bowl there, and they give us this to go. I'm tired of these businesses coming in to our community, making money off of us, while taking their money back to their city and mistreating us, in this case, Harming us, as this was a very traumatic experience my child and I had to go through, just because they didn't treat us as equal, and give us the quality of food that we paid for!! When they describe the Juicy Pork Buns as juicy, they are not exaggerating. They're shallow-fried into a chef's hat shape and filled with soup-dumpling levels of hot broth. The waitress's advice to poke a few holes with your chopstick in the top and sip it first is excellent. Everything we tried was wonderful. Went for dinner on a weeknight and it wasn't too busy around 6:30-7, the service is pretty good but you can order from the table if you'd prefer. I liked both kinds of dumplings (steamed & boiled), and the ginger noodles were very good. My main problem with the place is their portions though; everything is priced higher than what you got for it and we needed to order an extra serving of dumplings to feel like we were full. Tried their soup dumplings, got burned immediately while trying to bite a hole in it. Partial thickness burn of my lower lip, hurts like a mother, still bleeding a week out. I expected more of a variety of dumplings to choose from. I ended up trying the long bao, siu mai, and the spicy braised beef soup. All of it was tasty and the long bao was fun to eat. The children ended up just eating the long bao as well as the menu isn't super kid friendly, especially with picky eaters. All in all, I'd definitely go again when I'm back in town. Been a frequent visitor of the Walnut Creek location so when I moved to Oakland and heard they had a spot out here I was so excited. Ordered take out and had no issues with ordering and pick up. I ordered: - Juicy pan-fried pork buns - Pork wonton with sesame sauce and chili oil - Ginger and scallion noodles Though I definitely prefer to eat at the resutrant, I will say I was very impressed with their take out. Everything kept very well and tasted fresh. The juicy pan-fried pork buns still had a nice crisp outer layer and super juicy on the inside. The pork wontons were so yummy and fresh as well. Be warned, my husband mishandled a dumpling here and it spilled all over his shirt. I would recommend pho type spoons to hold the dumplings. They do provided ceramic heavy dumpling holders but I would recommend adding that pho spoon for people who have difficulty eating with chopsticks. The fried soup dumplings are very unique. It's a soup dumpling where the bottom is fried and the top is left soft so you get interesting contrasting textures. Came yesterday for an early Sunday brunch. As 2 people, we ordered a lot: 2 dumplings, 2 XLB, a hot and sour soup (not sure why the waitress keeps saying it's too salty. It's quite perfect and I think a must try item. More importantly it pairs well with all the dumplings.) and a pot sticker. For some reasons, the shape of XLB is a little off this time and the wrap is a little too much on the sticky side (粘牙). I hope it's an one off issue. The only problem is that 1 of the 2 XLB is made with the melon (丝瓜) shrimp. The melon is quite bitter. I love this melon and therefore learned that for some reasons, they always taste bitter now. So either the restaurant needs to test it or just don't use it. When I buy them in the farmer's market, I asked why, they can't provide any reasons and when I joked what if I pay for it then it's bitter? They said there's nothing we can do because you pay for it already. Seriously, other than Ding Tai Feng (but well, my recent visit to DTF in Vega broke my heart, they sell luke warm XLBs just to avoid burning people when eating them), this is so far the best place that can make the great XLB. Love this place in our neighborhood! Be prepared to wait outside if there's a line & dress warm! Parking can be difficult depending on the time of day--front street parking or park across the street (the backside street & parking lot of Trader Joe's) and walk over. We had a great time for our first visit! We ordered full order of Pork XLB, half order of Beef XLB, half order of Shrimp XLB, fried wontons appetizer, green onion pancake, and hot chrysanthemum tea! Unfortunately, we did not get photos of our food but presentation was nice and clean. XLB are made in house, fresh to order so they will take longer to prepare and cook--fyi, if you plan on putting another set in after your first set. My faves were the Pork XLB, green onion pancake, and hot chrysanthemum tea (tbh, that's all I need to have a fulfilling soup dumpling lunch)! You can taste the ginger and warm soup come together nicely for layers of complexities. Staff was welcoming and attentive! We enjoyed it so much we came back the following week. We don't love their spoons as they're bigger and seem to be a cross of a spoon and dipping saucer. It doesn't fit our mouths all that great but their dumplings are bigger than Din Tai Fung so they won't fit in a standard soup spoon, which I get but still weird. You'll see what I mean. read more

Have been coming here since they opened, and no complaints at all, from food to service. Today at lunch I witnessed another impressive undertaking inside the restaurant - both floor workers just started wiping in earnest all the tables and chairs with rags and cleaning sprays, even down to the insides of the chairs. They said since business was slow today, they might as well do something productive. Now, that's good work ethics, since they are not even the owners. We got take out and waited 15-30 minutes from when we ordered at the register. I feel like taste and texture were preserved well for sitting in a container cooling down a bit on our 10-15 minute drive. Was good portion size for 3 people. The juicy pan fried buns were true to the name and were super juicy that it would squirt out when taking a bite. The truffle xlb were delicious not overpowering at all. Excellent soup dumplings (I love the spicy XLB), excellent regular dumplings, great juicy pork buns, nice steamed buns, good potstickers, etc. Skip the scallion noodles - overpriced and bland They're a tad conservative with the seasoning - like, everything is seasoned but they leave out that extra pinch of msg/salt/soy sauce - especially with the cucumbers (which had nice fresh whole pieces of garlic in it), and XLB could have been spicier. This post is mostly to encourage them to go a little more ham in that area. I ordered like 12 items for NYE - they were ready fast and really delicious. I was very pleased. read more

My friend's eyebrows shot up with his first bite of dumpling here. "Wow," he said, and I agree. We had five different types of dumplings, including the popular Juicy Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings. They are a revelation - little crispy-bottomed balls of intensely flavored, broth-y filling (like XLB, but pan fried). Speaking of XLB, we had pork and crab as well as plain pork, and both were excellent, with none of the problems like leaking and toughness seen in lesser establishments. My only wish is that there were a few vegetable-forward options - not even vegetarian, just a vegetal profile to go with all the pork-y goodness. read more
