We stumbled upon this place during their soft opening, so considering that my review is based upon what can be done better and my experience overall. When we got there, the place was packed and a line. We got in line to order and when it was our turn to order we had a few questions as we were seeking vegetarian options. The cashier did not speak very well English which made it difficult to make a choice. Their veggie dumplings had shrimp in them as mentioned on the menu which was confusing. After making our order, we waited approx. 20 mins before checking in for eta on the food. The cashier never put our ticket in so we had to wait an additional 30 mins for our food. The place itself was super hot inside since there are big windows facing the outside. Overall very disappointed in the service but I understand they were trying to figure it out. The food was very underwhelming. Our noodles were supposed to have tofu in them which was missing. Our dumplings had some type of meat in it so we weren't able to eat it. I do not suggest this place from my experience but giving them grace to hopefully figure it out as the place keeps running. Free parking outside so that was convenient!

We went on a Friday night at 6pm and beat the dinner rush. They are a sister restaurant of Northern China Eatery and fairly new. FOOD: Shrimp Stir Fried Thick Noodles ($14.95) - They should rename this to be called Veggie Ginger Stir Fry. You have to literally dig through the veggies to find any noodles. The only thing you can taste is ginger and the dish is very salty. I would not get this dish if you're actually wanting any noodles. Pan-Fried Pork Bun ($15.95) - The bun wrapper was good and decently thin and the bottom of the bun was properly crispy. The texture of the filling was very off-putting however. It was kind of like wet cat food and I couldn't finish it after picturing that. Crab Roe Soup Dumplings ($15.95) - The soup dumplings come in 6 pcs. It was visually good but the taste was fine. I had thought it would be topped with crab roe, but the filling is made with crab roe. These also should be renamed as it had no soup whatsoever and also had the wet cat texture. SERVICE: The workers were all kind, but it was all very very unorganized. You order and then grab a buzzer before you get a seat and it can get pretty crowded when a lot of people are waiting inside for their food. The biggest issue I had was the time it took for the food to come out and the order. We got our "noodles" at a decent time, but we waited for 30min for our dumplings/buns since we understood it was a new restaurant. We started to notice that there was no order and people were just coming up and asking if this was their food and the workers would just hand it to them since they did not know which table it should go to. We ended up getting our food after doing the same and going up multiple times to get the rest of our food. OVERALL: I do not like to leave reviews for new restaurants until I try it at least twice, but there seems to be a lot of the same recurring problems and I don't think they are actually taking time to change it. I hope it was them just working out the kinks of grand opening, but I don't see myself going out of the way to come here and spend money on the food.

So new, the sign hasn't even come in yet.

I hate to give this location a 3 unfortunately. I arrived at 4:00pm and they informed that they were on break till 4:30pm and would not be able to take my order at this time. Not going to complain, it's their first day "officially open" as they have had a soft opening between 1-4th. I placed my order finally around 5pm(decided to give them some time), they only had 1 person taking orders and they all seemed very distracted or pressured. Not a problem. I'm pretty patient and love watching chaos and upset customers. I placed my order for... 1xHot and Sour Soup Duo Combo with Chicken and Corn/Pork and Chive with Chicken Fried Rice. 1xFried Pork Bun 1x Yangzhou Fried Rice. Comes out to around $71 with 20% tip because it's the first day and I appreciate the time. I waited outside for about 10-15 minutes and then decided to go inside. Watching the chaos, I believe the cooks were not going in order. The Manager and I'm guessing one of the Part Timers were switching between taking orders and plating orders and calling them. Instead of keeping some of the items back to provide the Dumplins with the Rice, they were calling orders as they came up and scratching the item off the order tickets as they came out. Because of this, people had to get up multiple times and sometimes the manager went out to the tables to bring out the food if he remembered the order. Around 5:20pm, Auntie came in. She obviously is the one in Charge. She places the Part Timer at the counter, while the Manager is running things. She starts calling out orders and putting things in order. At around this time, there were three groups of people waiting for either a table, a togo order and then me. At around this time, I'm still waiting patiently. Just observing. One of the gentlemen there had the order after me, and was now trying to rush the team because his fried rice was taking so long. He finally gets out around 5:30pm. Then comes my order. First, the Pork Buns had been sitting on the counter in a container now, along with the dumplings from the the Duo combo. There's the Hot and Sour Soup. So we're waiting on the side of Chicken Fried Rice and the Yangzhou fried rice. I already thought the Chicken Fried Rice was done and sitting with the Dumplings. They finally say that my order is next and they are preparing my rice. Great. I drive home and start sorting the order out. This is where things go bad from my point. Everything before is fine to me. The price, it's fine, the service, it's fine, It's the first day and I understand things take time to get in order. Cool. No worries. However, they forgot my Yangzhou Fried Rice. They gave us what I think is considered the "Half Portion" of Chicken Fried rice, which came with the combo. It's still a big enough portion for two, so my roommate and I split it. He got his 12 dumplings, the 6 Chicken and Corn and Pork and Chive. I got my Pan Fried Buns and hot and sour soup. No Yangzhou Fried Rice though. There goes $13.95. :( I start eating. Here is the unfortunate. The buns were mid. Unfortunately, this batch had very mushy filling. This is usually a result of someone mixing the meat too much into a paste. The taste was there, but the texture was off and not like it normally was when I get these at North China Eatery. The Hot and Sour was good however, it was kind of plane. More sour than "hot" and definitely not HOT. Not as good as NCE. The fried rice was not as firm as I'd like as well. The rice was maybe overcooked a little or because of the rush on orders, they aren't able to use cold/room tempature rice, so the rice ends up overcooked. Due to the texture issues with the Buns and missing fried rice, I have to deduct points. I suggest giving them another chance if any of you recently had similar issues. It will hopefully get better over time and as they get used to everything.

This place was a disappointment to be honest. I saw that their menu had pork soup dumplings, and as someone on the search for some amazing soup dumplings, I decided to come here and give it a shot. Overall, this place needs better customer service/organization, and the food was extremely salty without us adding any soy sauce, chili oil, or anything. To start, you can either order from a kiosk or cashier. True to its name, it mainly has dumplings with a couple rice and noodle dishes. They also have a few different combos where you get either 6 or 12 dumplings with 1 or 2 sides. So, you order and pay first, then you grab a seat. They need a better system for delivering food to the customers because about three times, they came to us with the wrong food or wrong order (easily fixed with a number or buzzer system). Service felt off when there was visible confusion about the orders, especially waiting for small parts of our orders although the main dishes came. The dumplings and noodles were very salty, not needing any additional soy sauce or even vinegar. Traditionally, you eat the soup dumplings with vinegar or even chili oil, but it would have become too overwhelming. I had to dilute the noodles with some water in order to eat it. I like that the cashier gives you water cups, which can be refilled with water from their soda vending machine. They also provide plastic utensils and chopsticks that you grab yourself near the refreshments. There's several booth and high table seating, good for small and big parties. Free parking is available in the plaza lot, but not directly next to the restaurant.

A small close setting that plays trendy music. You order at a counter and when the food is ready, it's brought to you. The cashier was pretty nice with answering questions and giving suggestions. I got the 8 dumpling combo with a side. I chose shrimp fried rice for my side but there were a ton of options. Some cold as well. A ginger ale for my drink. Everything was good and really fresh. I would've liked more shrimp in the rice but they were jumbo shrimp so I figured that's why it's less. I was hesitant based on the reviews but I'd go again. Perfect for a light quick lunch.

When you walk in, you can choose your own table and order with the cashier or at the kiosk. Super cutely decorated interior and fun music. We ordered the pan fried buns, stir fry noodles, cucumber salad, and wonton soup. The cucumber salad was very refreshing and flavorful. The wonton soup had mini wontons, seaweed, and egg drop; it was very filling and just right for a cold day. The buns were kind of oily but the meat was a great flavor - they were on the expensive side, but still good. The noodles were thick, chewy, and I think a little under seasoned, but my partner thought it was just right. Servers were great, there were only 2 of them and they were very busy and helpful.

We ordered egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, pan fried pork dumplings, steamed dumplings and fried rice. I thought the soups were pretty good but really small portions. The pan fried dumplings were good and flavorful, it wasn't too crispy though. The steamed dumplings were pretty good and I loved the chives inside. The fried rice I thought could use more flavor to it, didn't have that wok fried flavor to it but I liked the vegetables inside. I would say this place isn't the typical sit down service restaurant. We were served by a robot and ordered on the kiosk because the cashier was busy. You also have to clean up after yourself. Not sure why there is a tipping system if it's mostly self service. Overall the food and service was okay.

When I saw the announcement of the new location I was excited and stopped in because I never get out to the original. This visit was pure disappointment including subpar service. - wayyy overcooked dumplings - disappointing b/c they require you to order so many - fried rice wasn't good; no flavor - no non-soda drinks were available including bottled water

We crave this place. Homemade dumplings and hand rolled noodles. Try the scallion pancakes they are so good. So far everything we have tried here is excellent. Tonight we had the steamed chicken buns, dumplings, chicken noodle dish and scallion pancake. Fantastic! Hot and Sour soup is great too especially as the weather is getting cooler.

This place has great vegetarian options and is very good. My favorite dish I have tried here so far are the spicy cold noodles. Their prices are a little high but on par for the area. They have a cool robot that sends food to your table and an ordering kiosk. These things help speed up getting your food. The place is busy with take away orders but it's easy to walk in an find a table. Sauces, plates, drinks, and utensils are all self serve. Overall I really love this place and will continue to go back.

i wanted to disagree with the other 3 star reviews SO badly, but this place is sadly pretty mid. can't speak for service because my friend ordered to go for us. my friend loves the other location and has raved about DF, so i was really disappointed to find average dumplings at a city price tag at this spot. we got the stir fried thick noodles with chicken, shanghai soup, and shumai. she said it was a step down from their other location honestly i didn't really love any of the food. the dumplings were good and definitely hit the spot for dinner after a workout, but i didn't find them worth the price. the chicken in the noodles was an odd texture, i ate around it. with elsewhere brewing closing next door, I'm not sure of this location's future. hopefully westside paper will continue to develop and they'll find their groove

located in westside paper and will give off date-spot vibes once more shops start popping up in the area. their handmade dumplings and buns are so authentic and packed with flavor. my friend loved the steamed pork dumplings, while i couldn't get enough of the shanghai soup dumplings--so juicy and delish! (this is my FAVORITE) we also tried the pan-fried dumplings and fried rice, which were super filling. great for sharing, so grab your friends and try a bunch of different dumplings together. the lady at the counter was so kind and really attentive to everyone's needs.

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.
