Steamed pork Shrimp Siu Mai 蒸猪虾烧麦 - Five steamed pork and shrimp siu mai dumplings are arranged in a bamboo steamer, with some filling visible at the top.

*HUGE AND CHUNKY DUMPLING SUI MAIS FOUND HERE* Found this soothing Chinese food spot in Santa Fe downtown and it did not let us down! It is on a short walking distance from the vibrant Santa Fe Plaza area and has its own parking area too which is a little hard to find in the downtown area depending on the time you are there. The place was very clean with clean tables and the windows were covered with beautiful red cloths which kind of added to the fun vibe. The lighting was soft and warm, and the seating was comfortable for a quick or even a longer lunch. They also had soulful Chinese songs playing in the background which added a nice calm vibe!! Staff was extremely welcoming and sweet, and the service felt very sincere. The menu consists of many Chinese dishes such as pork and shrimp dumplings to stir frys to beef noodle soups, but something I have not regularly seen at these restaurants were the sweet potato glass noodles soups. Our order included the shrimp wonton soup, shrimp and pork sui mai and the special spicy beef noodle soup. The wontons and the sui mai were very fresh and tasty, cooked at the right temperature, hot and steamy and they were hugeeee and chunky too. The wonton soup broth had a bit of fishy taste, but overall tasted good. The special beef soup had a very earthy or ginseng like taste with flour noodles and very small seven to ten pieces of beef. The earthy taste definitely surprised me, and I thought the broth lacked a little bit of salt. The noodles also did not compliment the broth and were kind of heavy with a doughy and chewy bite. That is why I did not enjoy the soup as much, but still overall if someone wants to try something new then this could be their dish. Service felt a bit delayed but I guess to steam wontons it would take some time even during a lean afternoon. Other than that, all the dishes are decently priced and I would say much lower than the current restaurant rate going around for a bowl of soup. They were $13.99 and the wonton soups were at $12.99 which I thought was better than the market price. If I were you, I would definitely stick to the dumplings and the wontons during my next visit or maybe we all try their stir fry or rice dishes. Overall, I would like to rate my visit four out of five. I have one less point because they should have explained the flavor profiles of the soups and broths in a few words on their menu.

We stopped in here for a snack because we had a super early dinner reservation. We ordered Steamed Shrimp dumplings which were absolutely delicious. Then we ordered a Sesame Chicken to share. I was not fond of this dish. I am used to more of a browner sauce. and usually sesame chicken comes with broccoli. This dish had zero veggies. The server was quick and friendly. Food came out very quickly. The restaurant had many tables. I would return to try more dumplings and other dishes.

Very authentic and tasty food. If you have food allergies enter with caution there is a bit of a language barrier. The decor was fun and the service very attentive. Food was good.

Very busy buisness, they had a lot of pick up orders and gets a little crowded. You can order on the kiosk and then sit in a table to dine in. It can take some time but it's worth it. Food was really good ordered some 2 orange chicken with white rice and Singapore chicken noodles, shrimp fried rice and pork buns all for a family of 5 it was enough and had some to go. The noodles to me were tasty but had a bit of to much curry taste. Ambiance was calm but they were just so busy tables are vintage home style and comfy. They are attentive and just check up on your order if you feel like they forgot to bring something from ur order to the table. Also tried their strawberry boba and mango the cups were so cute !

Dumpling Cafe is honestly great. The dumplings are clearly homemade -- hearty fillings wrapped in chewy, perfectly textured dough, not the generic frozen kind you find elsewhere. We loved the steamed shrimp dumplings, spicy pork wontons, and shrimp and pork shumai. The unexpected standout was the hot and sour beef noodle soup -- packed with flavor and just the right balance of spice and tang. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Easy parking lot, too. Definitely a place I'll be returning to!

Really good service every time I've eaten in or done take out. All their dumplings dishes have been amazing for me. Dry fried string beans are delicious if you're looking for a veggie entree. Definitely will go back to eat there again. Only issue I've ever had there is finding parking since their lot is small but I find it nearby - very minor annoyance and the foods worth it. Casual atmosphere and I love eating outside when the weather is nice.

First visit to Dumpling Cafe, but not my last. Today I came for Dumplings and kimchi! Main dishes look great on the other tables. Start eating the dumplings as soon as they cool, they are tender and may fall apart on the chop sticks or open a bit before you can dip them in soy sauce. I really appreciate the Condiment and Utensil station on the table. I was able to give my Kimchi a little more kick with the chili paste that was in the station. The waiter had some troubles with my order, and brought me a complimentary Scallop Pancake. The pancake was tasty. Definitely come check this spot out!!

I went again today for a late lunch and enjoyed some aspects of the meal. For one, it was just me and two other tables who closed out right when I was walking in. I was quickly sat, and proceeded to have pretty slow service to start. Once a server finally came back around 5 minutes later, he brought some delicious spicy/sweet peanuts to start. Returned less than a minute later to take my order, then proceeded to have great service afterward.. let me start with the spicy baby cucumbers: pretty tasty and a large serving, however I didn't think they were that spicy. The chile oil used is mostly oily with some not so spicy Chiles used (that could just be my heat tolerance) but nonetheless, they were delicious. The hot tea was fresh and he brought it out with water, which I appreciated.. I was however slightly disappointed in the Dan Dan Noodles, I didn't take a picture just because it honestly was served not too appetizing or picture perfect like most of the previous reviews. Everything was mixed together, and the meat was all in the bottom under all of the noodles. The flavor was pretty good, but I didn't get the normal Szechuan flavor or spiciness that I've had in the past at other places. I do love the fresh noodles, but the overall dish was a little underwhelming. I would have liked it to be a little more presentable, along with more of a noteworthy flavor other than meaty broth with some chile oil (again more on the oily side not so much spice). Overall, the experience was decent and good service. I will come back to try something else and maybe it just wasn't a dish for me.

That was a a long drive for me and the unfortunate part. The fortunate part, this place was uber-fantabulous. OMG, the food was awesome. Let me get into why the experience was so great. The thing that grabs your attention when you walk in to the restaurant, is the mechanical bowl of noodle soup that has plastic noodles attached to a chopstick that moves up and down. Cool, right? I was greeted by the friendly staff and immediately taken to a table. Menu in hand, and a glass of water, I perused the menu. Man, there were so many yummy things to choose from. I decided on an order of shrimp, eggs ,and chives steamed dumplings for an appetizer and Singapore House fried rice noodle. I love Chinese chives so the dumplings were so yummy. They were steamed to perfection and so, so addicting. The Singapore noodles were wok-fired with chicken, shrimp, calamari, mushrooms, beef, eggs, and cucumbers. Wow, this dish attacked my taste buds with so much deliciousness. The staff were awesome, prices were reasonable, and most importantly, the food was spectacular. You have to get the dumplings. If my travels bring me back to the Santa Fe area, you know that I will come back to this restaurant.

The food was great and made us feel like we had made it back to Houston Asia town again. Our 2 honorable mentions were the baked egg tart which was crispy and the sweet tofu which was a perfect balance of sweet and flavor. This is the only place we've found so far that has these 2 items on the menu. There were many other items that we wanted to try but could not this visit because we were stuffed - next time. My only negative was that the shrimp har gow was a little bit on the gummy side. I would give a 4.5 star rating because of this, but since that's not an option I'm happy to give them a 5 star review because it was barely an issue. Everything else was good! We're so happy to have a place that carries some hard to find asian food items that we miss. The service was friendly and attentive and there was a good vibe. It was so good last year that we actually had a conversation with the owner about them being from San Francisco, after I told him it was the best Chinese food I've had in America outside of San Francisco. Well, that has changed significantly, and not for the better. We made a trip down from Santa Fe this week, specifically to eat at Noodle Works. Yes, we drove over an hour each way on Monday just to eat here. What a mistake! It was clear the General Tzo chicken was microwaved and not fresh fried. It was absolutely inedible! Mall food court Chinese is better than this dish was. Strange because almost exactly 1 year ago their General Tzo's dish was among them best I've ever tasted. I know this dish is not authentic, but to serve pre-fried then microwaved chicken is inexcusable! The Singapore Noodle dish this time was incredibly dry. The curry was more like a dry rub stuck to the noodles than it was a real curry sauce. Again... mall food court quality. Another dish that used to be amazing here. The crab in the crab rangoon was so fishy you could smell it before it was even delivered to the table. It had clearly sat out unrefridgerated during prep for far too long. It was inedible, or of fear of getting food poisoning... they did take it off of our bill. We are so disappointed in how bad the quality has fallen off in the last year! We loved them so much in the past that we will give them one more try, but we will not be making a special trip down from Santa Fe to eat here again. We REALLY hope they get their act together because we really like the employees and owner and want to continue to support them. Management did apologize without being prompted for the slow service and poor quality food, so hopefully they know serious improvement is needed if they are to stay in business. We wish them the best because they are great people. Good luck!
