The food is outstanding. It's excellent. I don't know how it could be any better. My wife picks the best places!

Merry Jewish Christmas! We had our Christmas Chinese food meal here at Dumpling Cafe, which was absolutely bumping around 4:00 pm. We managed to get the last available table when we arrived. They have a few bottled beers available and we started with the "money cucumber" which were simple but tasty enough. Come for the dumplings and the dumplings only! There's even a sweet lil grandma figure whom you can watch making them in the window. We loved the soup dumplings but would have preferred some more, you know, actual soup in them. The cabbage and pork dumplings were also delicious, and you could really taste how homemade and fresh they were. Some love went into those dumplings, believe us. The other two main dishes we got were complete letdowns. The vegetable noodle soup had such an oily broth that did not taste good, and it seemed like there were cucumbers in the soup (?!?!?!?!). No, just no. The singapore noodle dish was also greasy and kind of boring. Our daughter's strawberry bubble tea was cloying and the tapioca balls seemed off; she had a couple sips and called it a day. Service oscillated between extremely friendly to completely curt depending on who is coming to the table. Anyway, it's called Dumpling House for a reason, kids! Stick to the dumplings and you will leave happy. Three stars, but we can see ourselves coming here again in the future to have a dumpling-exclusive experience. read more

Holy moly... I wasn't truly living life until I came here. I had the chicken onion dumplings, orange chicken, vegetarian dumplings, soup dumplings, fried rice, and sticky rice balls. We went when it was calm and the music was beautiful. Everything I tried was fantastic, these people are humble and truly talented and I wish nothing but the best for them. read more

The restaurant is very clean. The service is decent. I like the decorations and atmosphere. We ordered the Kung Po Chicken Bibimbap and orange chicken again. Kung Po Chicken is my favorite. Very tasty. This time we tried the shrimp steam dumplings instead of pork steam dumplings. Pork dumplings have more the traditional flavor. We definitely will go back but we will not ordered the ice coffee again. They used the instant coffee and creamer and charged $5. read more

Ordered as a take-out on a lazy day when we just did not wanna go out for a sit-down meal. The food was carefully packaged. We ordered beef soup noodle and pan fried chicken dumplings. The beef noodle soup is great - I can tell the noodles are fresh and actually hand-made. The soup base is flavorful, but slightly less grease will make it even better. The pan fried dumplings are huge. You definitely get lots of stuffing for each. I could actually tell that the stuffing is hand-made and uses fresh ingredients. From that perspective, it exceeds my expectations because I was ready to see store-bought, frozen dumplings being delivered. However, the pan-fried cooking method makes the dumplings too greasy. It's possible that the longer delivery time makes it worse. Maybe the steamed version will be better for delivery orders. Overall, a good place for some decent Chinese dishes if you are in the mood for Asian food. Would recommend their noodle dishes. read more

We stopped by the Dumpling Cafe for dinner last week. We didn't have to wait long for a table and ordered the Money Cucumber Salad (the best part of the meal), Pork Cabbage Fried Dumplings, and General Tso's Chicken. We had dined previously at another restaurant run by the same group of people and loved it. So when we visited here it was on their recommendation that we try their other location. Our visit was not the best, and based on this we will be sticking to the location we love vs. the one where we didn't have a good experience. We were seated at a table alongside the wall near the dumpling station. Another couple was next to us and their food came quickly, and the server [the same one we had] seemed attentive. We seemed to have the opposite experience and we had almost finished the chicken entree before the dumplings arrived, so we shared the chicken, although the dumplings were my dinner choice, and as a result, I was not hungry enough to enjoy the dumplings which finally arrived at the end of our meal and seemed undercooked, including the pork inside. I also ordered an iced coffee as well, as soon as we were seated, which was forgotten even though I asked about it twice, and arrived at the end of the meal as well. The General Tso's Chicken was heavy on the sauce and the breading was also too heavy for us. After the first piece, I wished we had ordered something different, and since we ended up sharing it became my entire dinner except for one dumpling I started to eat and stopped because it didn't seem cooked well. The couple next to us was receiving good service, with food arriving regularly and plates being cleared as they went. Our plates piled up and they never removed anything. We finally asked to have our table cleared, the server nodded and smiled but never did it, then cleared the other tables instead while we sat there looking at food we were never going to finish. It was several minutes, and we asked again and he said okay, walked away, and never came back. When my partner stood up to leave his foot slid on the floor and he realized someone had spilled one of the sweet syrup bottles earlier and he had been sitting there the whole time with his feet in it. This also made a mess in my car and he had to remove his shoes. He told the server who seemed to blame him, sighed, said "oh, it's okay" like he was inconvenienced, and went to get something to clean it up, which he was doing when we left. The same server that never really seemed to care how we were treated. The bill comes when the last dish arrives, so you sit there and look at that too while you are just beginning to eat. It would be better to just order on the electronic screen at the entrance rather than the way they are doing it. On the way home I got sick in the car. Luckily, my partner seemed fine, but I spent the next day not feeling well. We won't be going back here. The experience wasn't good and the end experience was a definite deal breaker. There are a lot of restaurants to go to in Santa Fe with excellent food. This isn't one of them. read more

We had a feast! Everything was delicious and very filling! Everyone working was super sweet and gracious. We witnessed a Karen losing her sh*t on one of the sweet waitstaff. Felt so bad for her. But the restaurant handled it very well eventhough this customer/woman was ruthless SHEEESH! My family and I finally stood up and said something. We must protect or local hangs and workstaff! What a hidden gem. Best Asian food I've had in Santa Fe so far! Presentation and service are AAA and the flavors were outta sight! It's Railyard adjacent so hit up some galleries or take in a movie and then gorge yourself on dumplings and the like. I personally recommend the No soup spicy wontons. read more

I didn't get a chance to try this place the last time I was in town so I went in for dinner last night. It wasn't very crowded and after I was seated, the staff member walked off and didn't come back. I was sitting there for a few minutes until I asked someone else for a menu and they were like "oops, sorry". I had about a minute to look over the menu before the staff member who seated me started hovering around my table and asking what I wanted. I ordered the sesame chicken with fried noodles, the shrimp siu mai with pork, the fried shrimp and chives dumplings, and the scallion pancake. The staff member said "whoa that's a lot of food" like they didn't believe I would eat it all and I said I'm bringing some of it back for a friend who wasn't able to join me for dinner. Either they didn't understand me or didn't believe me so they just shrugged and went to place my order. I noticed that some of the staff were in uniform and some were in street clothes. I figured the latter were relatives helping out. The sesame chicken arrived first and it was steaming hot. I had to let it cool down for several minutes before I could eat any. The "fried" noodles were really soggy and mixed with diced garlic. The only thing I could taste was garlic so I added a bit of soy sauce and it didn't make a difference. The chicken was bathed in a really sticky orange sauce that tasted pretty good but there was just way too much. The chicken was diced into huge nuggets so I had to cut most of them apart for smaller bites. This was the dish I wanted for myself so I finished the entire plate. The other item I wanted for myself was the shrimp siu mai with pork. It arrived next and came in five pieces. The casings were filled with ground pork and chives at the bottom and topped with shrimp. The pork was really watery which made the whole thing soggy and it fell apart pretty quickly. There were way too many chives and that's about all I could taste. Next was the fried shrimp and chives dumplings. My friend wanted this one and it tasted good but there was way too much chive and not a lot of shrimp. The might as well call it a chive dumpling. There was something else in there that looked like a bit of scrambled egg but I wasn't sure. There were six dumplings in total. They also came with some chili oil and when I was reaching over to dip one of the dumplings, a staff member came over and said "you should try the soy sauce" and picked up the bottle like they were going to pour it over my food. I put my hand in the way and said I already tried it and they left. That was weird. Last was the scallion pancake. It came in eight pieces but whoever cut it just hacked it apart. This was the other item my friend wanted and it was somewhat disappointing. There were some scallion shavings sprinkled in but otherwise it was just fried batter. Tasted ok. It included a little cup of sweet and sour sauce but it didn't add much to the flavor. I asked for a to-go container and a staff member brought me a plastic bowl with a lid, the kind that is typically used for soup. The lid was cracked in several places so it didn't really function like a lid anymore but whatever. The bill was about $50 not including the tip. I left a nice tip anyway despite the wonky service. When I brought the rest of the food back to my friend, we couldn't pull the lid off the container so they just ripped off the broken pieces and pulled out the food through the hole. Overall it was an ok experience. The food was average and the portions were large but this isn't the kind of place that is budget-friendly or ideal for solo diners, unless you only order one item. It was an expensive meal even for two people. I don't think I'll be back. read more

We had a very good lunch at Dumpling Cafe and are glad to have another option in this area of town. The dumplings and soup buns are excellent -- all very flavorful and perfectly done. We thought the Northern Noodles were OK - good flavor but not nearly as good as the dumplings. Some of the other noodle dishes looked better, so you might try those instead (but I think the dumplings are the clear specialty here). Will definitely return again. read more

I was surprised to see the good reviews. They use way too much oil to fry the vegetables and way too much oil in the hot and sour soup meaning definitely don't order this thinking you will get healthy homeaid soup. In addition, I ordered ginger tea that had lots of added sugar which they denied. I was unable to drink it. Lots of other places to eat near here. I only had a little of the soup since they would not provide me something else. There was so much oil in it that it made me sick. When I asked for something else they said no that is how it's supposed to be made. They gave me a small amount of brooth to take home not sure I will do anything with brooth since I went to eat out. It was a total waste of over twenty dollars for food I didn't eat and sugar tea I didn't drink. As a local I will never return and highly recommend to everyone finding something else to eat unless you want sugar tea and so much oil it will make you sick for a long time after eating there. read more

A group of coworkers and I stopped in because we love their other location closer to the plaza. We were pleasantly surprised and the food was just as good as we expected. The soup buns, scallion pancakes, fried chicken dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, and the shrimp dumplings were our order for the table of six of us. Great for family style sharing! We were going to the food court across the street from this restaurant but nothing was appealing to us there , and decided to try this new Asian restaurant . It was the best decision we made ! We are from San Francisco area , so to find a good Asian restaurant will probably be impossible here. We had the best Soup dumpling , hot and sour soup glass noodle with chicken ,dan dan noodle , golden corn (you HAVE to try this unique dish), and shrimp and chive dumpling! For the dessert we had the glutinous rice with brown sugar , it was just the perfect sweetness ! The owner was so kind, and sat with us to talk. She is very passionate about her food, and helped us order the best dishes. The flavors are balanced and have good umami, and the meat tastes fresh. All the ingredients work well together! Food was delicious but we had a funny thing happen. I ordered hot jasmine tea and when it came, I asked for some sugar or sweetener. The waitress looked confused and went and got an older woman. She said they didn't have sugar and said I should use honey. I said OK. Then she left and came back with two small dishes filled with watery liquid. She said one was honey and one was sugar, but that I shouldn't use the sugar because it wasn't good for me. OK. read more

Server wasn't very attentive. We went without water, had to ask for refills and to clear the table. It was a small table so we had to ask him to clear plates so that we had room to eat. Veggie spring rolls were okay. Cooked well but not a ton of flavor. The scallion pancakes were delicious. The sweet chili sauce served with most dishes was okay. Not a favorite of mine but not exactly sure what throws it off. The patio was nice but nothing special. I can't speak to the inside dining. The soup buns were not good. The flavor was fine but the paper underneath had moved and they stuck to the steam dish. This caused the soup to leak out of most of the buns. They were also large. I'm all for big portions but you can't eat it in one bite. The pork fried dumplings were delicious. Prices were fair. We were stuffed and our bill was $36 before tip. Loved this place! Not sure what inside looks like because we sat on the nice patio. Had seaweed salad, scallion pancakes, pork buns, fried shrimp dumplings, fried pork dumplings, plus Thai boba tea. All tasted fresh, dumplings and pancakes crispy and hot. Service was friendly and fast. read more
