The food and drink I got is very low quality and expensive $26. I got the pork belly and it was just a few slices of pork with cilantro and basil. I wasn't impressed at all. It doesn't even serve you any side dishes or rice. The wait to get into the restaurant was well over an hour. The drink was not worth $16 for the weak palmetto drink. The ambiance was ok. The music was really loud and very crowded. I seated way later than a bunch of people in front of me because there weren't any single seats open. This place is a restaurant who don't know what Asian dishes supposed to taste like, it's for boujee people. If you want know to know what Asian dishes are supposed to taste like go travel to Thailand or Malaysia.

Tasty food, but the host needs to work on his hospitality, the service is a bit awkward, and the music is way too loud.

Definitely the best bar we visited in Santa Fe…read more When we arrived there was still seating at the bar so we promptly sat ourselves there. We ordered a charcuterie and cheese board which was much larger than expected and had plenty of local options. I started with a See You At Dusk, which was a combo of Melleti, souchu, balasmic, ginger and walnut. I found it to be a very flavorful drink that paired well with the board. I next tried a Bywater which was rum, falernum, genepy and Averna. It was a very deep and rich cocktail which I also enjoyed. The bartender was very friendly and offered us small samples of a few unusual items they stock. Overall a very fun experience.

Martin insisted the Dark Winds cocktail integrate even more beets- so many beets that the mezcal itself was stifled like a flame under shovelfuls of fecund loam and that homey odor of fresh earth itself somehow overpowering a smoke-scented spirit- when this titan of imagination demanded more beet! in his signature drink, did he bang his closed fist against the table in passion? Did tears of certainty spark his eyes as he sat under those moody lights, standing firm that yes So Long, See You Tomorrow needs not one or two but three different types of sesame- what did he feel? What did intend to bankroll? And the sickest joke of all- the Bellow's Breath- a bone broth mocktail like some crystal cup of soup. Was that beverage intended to pogo stick my friend off the proverbial wagon into the depths of glugging Long Island ice teas just to feel something familiar again? Because it did. And my heart aches for that friend but I too would lose my mind if I were to stare into such a void and see whatever it is that stares back. Was this menu the vision of a team- a baffling Frankenweenie invented by committee- or the secret wish of one troubled mind? I see it all so clearly and yet I can't help but doubt my own memory. That many beets on such an expensive cocktail menu? Who salts blueberries? This total disregard for the green chile cult that runs this city like a delicious cabal? Had no drink technician ever walked from front door to car, inhaled the piñon perfumed air outside and thought, I can do something with that. I don't know what happened and I don't think I ever will but I know I did not like it. Also the bartenders were vacant and so confused that human beings wanted to order cocktails in a cocktail bar.

And while their cocktails were good, the service was lackluster and it was loud and crowded. Granted I visited Tonic a little later in the evening, but it was low lit, quiet, not crowded, and playing jazz. The bartender was SUPER attentive, but in a positive way. He really seemed to care that we were comfortable. In fact, most of the negative reviews complain that it was low lit and quiet and only one bartender. I found these things the most attractive. They focus on craft cocktails with seasonal ingredients. I visited late in the night after other stops at Secreto and Coyote Cafe, so I was flagging a bit. I can't even remember what I ordered, but both cocktails were great. Very herbal and complex. They have herbal cocktails, savory cocktails, spicy too. I also love how some of their cocktails have little romance novels or stories to go along with them as a way to describe their flavors/mood.

A staff member asked our group size, said she needed to check with the bartender, and then a male employee came up and said he was the bartender. He told us they couldn't accommodate a party of nine and also refused to let us split into smaller groups. The way it was handled made it worse--he was condescending and hit us with, "I don't make the rules, I just enforce them," with zero effort to offer alternatives or show any basic customer service. I've never experienced a place turn away a group that's clearly ready to spend money, especially on drinks. Turning away out-of-town guests like that without even trying to work with us is a pretty bad look. Definitely not a great first impression.

tldr: THE SOUP This…read moreis a place where a tasting menu would be amazing because I'm sure everything is that good. Before they even bring the menu they bring out 7 moles to taste. Apparently moles aren't all dark chocolate spicy sauces ... ?!?? Loved the education and samples. I'm typically not a mole fan, but they were fun to try. We had the octopus but to me the sauce was too oily. The actual octopus was tender and delicious. Also had the duck skin tacos which were more of a minced duck meat taco and delish. The 5 stars go for impeccable service and the SOUP. This soup is not to be missed. Nothing on paper makes me think it should work but it totally does. It's a big lump of blue crap topped with creamy poblano pepper soup with whipped cream and amaretto and then topped with a spicy kick. Someone said cinnamon but for me it tasted more like hot red chili powder. Sounds incredibly weird but it was the best dish I've had in forever. Waitress was extremely knowledgeable and the chef was very welcoming and present in his cowboy hat! Space was cozy with amazing art. Perfect date night spot but plan to spend a bit of $$$

The service was good after we got settled in, our waiter was attentive and the chef stopped by several time to check-in on us. My husband loved the pork dishes he tried, including the pork belly and the pork with your choice of mole. I agree that they did a nice job with the pork. The Azteca (yellow fin tuna crudite) was tasty, but a bit saucy and a little too salty. The Soup de Amor is a must get! And if you are a fan of tequila, they do flights with sangrita. I read a review that this place would benefit from having a set tasting menu, and I am in agreement. But for now the option is to share multiple dishes if there is a larger group.

This was an EXCEPTIONAL dining experience!…read more Service exemplary. I sat at the bar and got to watch the kitchen cook and they were true craftsmen and professionals. I started with what I thought was going to be a plain Caesar salad, but when it arrived, it was served like a sushi or lettuce wrap. It was very creative and tasty! It made it much more fun to eat than the average salad. It was rich and topped with anchovies, like a true Caesar salad. I then had the peppercorn Elk tenderloin. I asked it be served as the chef recommended, which is medium rare. I am sometimes wary of medium rare, but this tenderloin was DIVINE! It was so moist and bursting with flavor. I loved it. The cocktails were creative and just as enjoyable as the meal. Other options for dinner apps include: cornbread, ahi crudo, mussels, and bison carpaccio. Mains: scallops, pan roasted Branzino, toasted masa gnocchi, grilled Maine lobster tails, duck leg confit, and a pecan coffee rubbed prime flat iron. I'm sure all of them would be amazing. Reservations recommended. Please note that the rooftop bar does not take reservations and is not on the same system as the restaurant. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.

It's a perfect place for a group of friends who are drinking and laughing, and in general having a good time. If I was by myself, I would have given the place 5 stars, but the food was not a hit with everyone in our group. Starting with what was good, the cornbread was delicious. The Tuna Crudo, Caesar Salad and Branzino, which is what I ordered were all delicious and I would order again. The Mac n' Cheese was so decadent, and one of the best sides I have ever had. The not so great - the lobster was a bit overcooked and over done shellfish is never good, and the masa gnocchi was a bit dense and dry. This is a place where knowing what to order off the menu is key as not all dishes were spectacular. As a result of this dinner, our friend in Santa Fe has crossed it off the list for another large party dinner she is coordinating. However, I would happily return.

The ceviche was delicious - super fresh and flavorful, and with a nice ratio of chips. He's from the NYC area, and has demanding tastes, but he was totally won over by the food and the service. I had the mariscada, a rich and hearty seafood stew with plentiful baby scallops, mussels, calamari, shrimp, and whitefish swimming in a creamy broth. I didn't think the charred tortillas were quite the right accompaniment for the mix of tastes and textures, and would have preferred more of a salty flatbread, but that's a minor quibble. My wife's chicken mole enchiladas were wonderful, by her account, and it was a filling dish -- we brought back a box with the remains for enjoyment as a lunch. My brother-in-law's red snapper was also reportedly excellent, as exhibited by the lack of any leftovers at all. I stuck with the hibiscus iced tea since I was driving, but I took a sip of his Mexican 75 cocktail -- delicious -- and my wife's silver coin margarita was up to snuff in a tough market, so we can vouch for the libations as well as the food. For dessert, we feasted on the triple sorbet -- lemon, mango, and raspberry scoops on a cunning 3-bowl tray. The lemon was more icy, the mango more creamy, and the raspberry a cross between both in texture. The flavors were outstanding. If only they added espresso to their after-dinner offerings, it would be perfect, but the coffee was very good and came with a variety of sweeteners to choose from, including lump turbinado sugar and white cubes, plus the usual packets. Service was spot-on, friendly, and efficient. Be prepared for elevated noise levels in the bouncy room, but you can still be heard across the table. And the place is so popular that they request you keep your visit to 75 minutes for a table for two, and 90 minutes for 3-4 people, so keep an eye on the time during busy periods.
