Daily special garlic bacon wrapped shrimp skillet with seasonal vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes $20. Delicious.
Renee J.

Went for dinner around 5:30 pm on a Saturday. We made online reservations. But wasn't really necessary. When we checked in, the hostess asked what football game we wanted to watch, so he could seat us an if not showing, see if he could find it to broadcast. Our college team had already played so no preference...but what a great thing to ask. The food was disappointing, this time. The giant pretzel with crab dip was great. Underwhelmed with burnt ends appetizer. The pork belly and wedge salad....huge squares of pork belly deep fried was weird texture, I recommend changing to smaller pieces, but everything else about the salad was good. The Mac n cheese was okay. Fish and chips, right size pieces (3) for dipping and the battered stayed on, crispy, average. Hamburger was ok. But after last time when we had the bacon wrapped shrimp daily special whih was amazing, all of our entrees just seemed average this time. They really should add those shrimp to the menu.

Friendly prompt service, decent food and drinks. Ambiance is loud sports bar. Sante Fe seems to close early, but this establishment is open later.

Just rating the margaritas and the karaoke. Margaritas were good. Karaoke had a nice stage, good mics, and a strong crowd. Regulars get more chances to sing than visitors though. Karaoke end at 12AM.

Christmas Pork Stew - Only found in the specials of the day.

I am absolutely oozing with gratitude for the incredible experience I had at Boxcar Bar & Grill! If you are looking for the ultimate sports destination in Denver, look no further. The energy here is unmatched--the "sports vibe" is curated perfectly with plenty of screens and a crowd that is passionate but welcoming. It's the kind of place where every seat feels like the best seat in the house, making it the perfect spot to cheer our favorite colllege football team. But let's talk about the real MVP: the Christmas Pork Stew. It was, quite simply, over the top! The balance of the red and green chile was a masterpiece of flavor. The red chile brought that deep, earthy richness, while the green added a bright, spicy kick that kept me coming back for more. The pork was tender, and the flavors were so authentic to the Southwest. It's a dish that warms your soul and makes your taste buds dance. Between the high-octane atmosphere and that world-class stew, Boxcar has officially become my new favorite Santa Fe haunt. Thank you for the amazing hospitality!

Went with a group for lunch on a friday. Large space with lots of seating options inside and out. Food was good. I had the lasagna roll. Their homemade garlic rolls were not great IMHO. They make their pasta in house which is a bonus. Service was good. They did bring all the other orders out several minutes before mine which isnt ideal. A gust of wind blew one of the outdoor umbrellas down around our table which as startling. The manager did stop by out table later and check that we were ok and gave us a 20% discount on the ticket. Overall good dinning experince.

Went at 11 pm in the evening and it was interesting as the place was popping with activity in the club part of the bar, yet they still had the diner part open. Managed to get a light supper of Tacos. Service was expectedly slow as their attention was turned towards the club being managed, but still warm despite the time of day.

We held our Toy Drive here this year. It was a huge success and Boxcar people handled it well. Service was great and with a houseful of customers, it wasn't easy. They were right there to take orders and before we knew it, our drinks and food was served. They were even nice enough to let us know when we still had a few minutes left for happy hour. The large room we were in has a big bar and lots of tables to handle our large crowd.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

The service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive. The vibe of the place is very cool as well. Overall the food was pretty good. We got the buffalo chicken sandwich with Parmesan truffle fries. This dish was great. We also got the fish and chips. They were good too but the breading is extremely thick. For an appetizer the Bao Buns are good but they are more like tacos. The pork belly inside was amazing.

Delicious pretzel with crab dip

This place is so fun. Seemingly the only sports bar in town outside of chains like Buffalo Wild Wings. We watched 2 of the Nuggets playoff games here last week. The servers and bartenders are attentive and friendly, We especially loved the icy cold glasses with the beer. I highly recommend the pretzel with crab dip!

Road-tripped to Santa Fe in February midweek and explored the town & cute shops. It was difficult to find anything open around 2pm on a weekday, but we stumbled across this sports bar. Wanting to get a little tipsy before we walked more, we ordered a few flights and a giant pretzel! The Dark & Dangerous flight was super unique and so was the Fruity & Light flight! The Ex Novo - Kill the Sun was intense and high proof! It did the trick! The pretzel was REAL and thick and bready! The only way to do pretzels in my opinion! Classic slightly elevated bar food with large portions. Service was friendly!

Any gluten free menu options?

Tuesday (Nov 15) at 7:30 Duke plays Kansas on ESPN. Will this be on at least one of your screens?

So being from Kansas and knowing they have a good football team once in every 20 years, I'm assuming you're a Duke fan, and no, I don't have the answers.

Does Boxcar have TV screens for sporting events?

Yes...they are placed throughout the bar. Very nice!

I asked for the burger to be cooked medium, and it was more like medium well or more done. The bun was a disaster, falling apart and sliding all over the place. One of the onions on it was inedible. The green chili suffered from a typical New Mexico problem (either hot with no flavor or flavor with no heat); this one was quite hot with no flavor. I don't know why, but my expectations were pretty high, but this burger was pretty bad. Oh yes, another point on the positive side, I got a house salad instead of french fries, and the salad was fantastic. Had some sesame seeds and cranberries in it that made it really delicious. I won't be back though. They simply must do better.

Wonderful people! We had already eaten but were able to sample bread that will be part of a new menu coming to the lounge very soon. If this bread is any indication, food here is exceptional! They were able to prepare it meatless for me and I couldn't have been more pleased. It had tons of flavor and spice and I thought the price was reasonable for what I got, even without the chorizo. The restaurant is an absolute must if you're staying at El Dorado. It is quality food at a decent price and is incredibly convenient. But even if you're not, it's worth a visit.

We ended up sitting down at the bar while we waited for the food and just ordered one round and had to flag down a manager to pay our tab because the bartender was completely overran. Of course they screwed up the food order as well. Big disappointment from beginning to end. Should've known better.

The goodness began with Naomi, who helped me fix an error in my reservation and get a table at a good time tonight. The goodness continued with our server Mitzi, who should be teaching graduate classes in hospitality in every big city. She was friendly without being overbearing, informative without being pedantic, subtle and gracious. Now, the food! My wife chose the vegetarian tasting menu and I had some of each dish: so very flavorful (a green salad with pears, a life-changing mushroom bisque [and I don't like mushrooms!], a chickpea croquette with pickled artichoke hearts and ratatouille, and a substitution of the lemon crepe for three yummy scoops of sorbet and gelato. I chose the scallops, perfectly cooked and moist, over couscous, and a dish of tasty sauteed baby spinach. A wonderful experience, and not overpriced, and everyone treated us sweetly. The musical soundtrack was swinging, and at a compassionate volume. Our first trip to Santa Fe, and we found a gem. Hooray! And thank you, Mitzi!

The interior is classy and very comfortable. We were seated at a nice comfy corner booth. The soft music in the background was soothing and just noticeable enough without being a distraction. We were served complimentary flutes of local sparking wine and a fresh baked bread basket and butter to start. We then ordered cocktails and three starters. First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.

The restaurant was dimly lit, with large whiskey barrels tastefully scattered throughout the space. The ambiance felt dressy casual with a touch of farmhouse charm, complemented by a curated country music playlist serenading us throughout the evening. Since we had mentioned when making our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, both the hostess and our waiter greeted us with a warm "Happy Anniversary" and surprised us with two complimentary glasses of champagne. It was a very thoughtful touch and set the evening off to a great start. For drinks, I ordered the Buffalo Trace whiskey flight, while my wife chose a shrub, which is a sweet fruity cocktail with a hint of vinegar (like apple cider vinegar or kombucha). We both thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. To start, we ordered the corn chowder with bone marrow, which was such a unique and incredibly delicious experience for both of us. You scrape the bone marrow directly into the soup, adding richness to both the flavor and texture, which were already excellent. For our entree, we shared the ribeye steak with duck fat fingerling potatoes, and it was more than enough food for the two of us. The steak was cooked to perfection and, surprisingly, had very little fat. The duck fat potatoes were soft, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the meal.
