Food was amazing. Place was clean and staff was friendly, what more can one ask for of a restaurant

A year ago we would have given Noodle Works 5 stars. Not sure what is happening to this place, but it USED TO BE amazing. It was so good last year that we actually had a conversation with the owner about them being from San Francisco, after I told him it was the best Chinese food I've had in America outside of San Francisco. Well, that has changed significantly, and not for the better. We made a trip down from Santa Fe this week, specifically to eat at Noodle Works. Yes, we drove over an hour each way on Monday just to eat here. What a mistake! It was clear the General Tzo chicken was microwaved and not fresh fried. It was absolutely inedible! Mall food court Chinese is better than this dish was. Strange because almost exactly 1 year ago their General Tzo's dish was among them best I've ever tasted. I know this dish is not authentic, but to serve pre-fried then microwaved chicken is inexcusable! The Singapore Noodle dish this time was incredibly dry. The curry was more like a dry rub stuck to the noodles than it was a real curry sauce. Again... mall food court quality. Another dish that used to be amazing here. The crab in the crab rangoon was so fishy you could smell it before it was even delivered to the table. It had clearly sat out unrefridgerated during prep for far too long. It was inedible, or of fear of getting food poisoning... they did take it off of our bill. We are so disappointed in how bad the quality has fallen off in the last year! We loved them so much in the past that we will give them one more try, but we will not be making a special trip down from Santa Fe to eat here again. We REALLY hope they get their act together because we really like the employees and owner and want to continue to support them. Management did apologize without being prompted for the slow service and poor quality food, so hopefully they know serious improvement is needed if they are to stay in business. First time here in very impressed. The food was great! I think I filed my new place to go in town. The service was great very friendly. This place got full pretty quick so you wanna get there a little soon for lunch. Quiet inside. The selection of food is outstanding. If you can't find something on there you like. I would be amazed. They have a huge food and drink selection. And a pretty good dessert selection definitely be going back. The honor is very nice and the server is super friendly. read more

I've had 8 DoorDash orders from Noodle Works and eaten at the restaurant 4 times. I'm so sad and also super pissed at how absolutely horrible my last 3 experiences with this restaurant has gone. They were literally my favorite restaurant in ABQ and each of my last few visits they've gotten progressively worse. If you're trying to pick somewhere to eat, yes their food is delicious but their service is the absolute worst and will ruin your meal whether it's in person or an online order. RIP read more

Soup had fresh noodles and the taste was on point. Wontons delicious. The space was small but not cramped. Fast and friendly service. The menu had a good selection and I will go back to sample more items! In a nice strip mall that has other interesting shops to explore. read more

We put in a large order of won ton soup, steamed dumplings, orange chicken, vegetable fried rice, and more. I added vegetable low mein. I was surprised to find a large knot of mushy noodles, coagulated together with 3 bok choi leaves, and some deep fried tofu on top. I had to add my own soy sauce on top when I got home. And I needed a butter knife to cut up the coagulated noodles into squares to eat. Such a bizarre low mein. The restaurant was conveniently located next door to the nail salon we were getting a pedicure, and we collected our to go order when done. The noodles themselves were very good. The sauce was lacking, both in flavor and spice, but looking back there was chili oil on the table that I could've added. That probably would've made it taste better. read more

A hidden little gem in the heights with the best bao buns you'll find! We found Noodle Works looking for a place that served specifically bao bind. Noodle Works is a cute little restaurant tucked into a strip mall. It's unassuming but to my surprise, one of the best dining experiences we've had. The menu was varied so we tried several dishes. Service was super friendly and quick with all our food fresh and hot with regular checkins by all of the staff. The spicy edamame was a great start with a couple fried rice entrees and a few rounds of pan fried bao buns, all to share. Everyone loved it! So, even though it's basically on the other side of town from where I live, I get back there every so often because there's not a better place I've found. read more

Authentic and extremely delicious! I go out of my way to use Uber Eats if we haven't stopped during our normal weekend errands. The noodles are made fresh and you can tell that there is a huge difference. Their braised beef noodle soup travels well (in reference to delivery) and so do their steamed dumplings. When we go in person, we try to order something new and we have always enjoyed the food. The one thing we did not like was the fried dumplings/pot stickers. Service is always fast and they aim to please. It's not quite a hole in the wall or a dive, but it's a simple place but always delicious. If you haven't tried them, please do! If you don't live nearby, just keep that in mind when you order meaning don't get anything fried or that doesn't travel well depending on delivery time. In person- try it all! read more

I know, I know. Can't expect much when searching for Asian food in high desert. Decided to try this place on 6.16.23 (sorry forgot to post) as it had a few dishes like XLB, Char siu bao & oodles of noodles. Unfortunately, not very good IMHO. Bao looked & tasted like the frozen ones from Asian stores. Was hoping that it was a actually made in house as they kitchen staff are Asian. Servers were great. Friendly and engaging. What we ordered: XLB, Char siu bao, pan fried dumplings and beef broccoli. If you know me, XLB is always on my radar and Din Tai Fung (and SF dim sum eateries) is my standard. Unfortunately, Noodle Works missed the mark. The wrappers were especially thick on top and and almost impossible to bite the top off. Yuckos, but I actually bit off the top & spitted it into my paper napkin. Dumplings also had a thick "skin" and were heavy & pasty. If noodles is part of your restaurant name, it should be at least better than noodle offerings at local Asian restaurants. Hope this visit was an off day, but un-bookmarking on Yelp. Seriously so good! We had the dumplings and were so good, highly recommend the noodles with your entree!!! Some of the BEST noodles we have ever had! Definitely recommend! An awful experience from the moment we walked in the door. It's Christmas day. They are semi busy yet the make us wait 10 minutes to be seated... the reason it took ten minutes is because they were judging us between themselves... when they finally sat my friends and I they make it clear that they won't serve us unless we pay as we order( everyone else pays after meal is finished)... they said we looked homeless or like we weren't going to pay.... after finally being sested the rude waiter took forever to get our srin on order and food order... This place was surprisingly dissatisfying since I was looking forward to trying the entrees based on the 4-5 reviews. The noodles were soggy and so was the rice. The fried rice stands i appearance but the flavor was missing. The sesame chicken and the orange chicken was also soggy. It might have been the case since it was towards the end of the day and their quality declines at the end of the day but for soggy food the price was not worth it. the place overall is quite cozy and inviting to the eye of the observer. The place is clean and they do have restrooms for the guests. Service was descent and took about 15-20 minutes to prepare the food. read more

We were hungry for dim sum and noodles, and Noodle Works popped up on Yelp with very good reviews. I was interested to try the fresh noodles made in house, and there is a huge difference provided by freshly made noodles. We tried the Youpo noodles, char siu bao (bbq pork filled pockets of bao), xiao long bao (bao filled with broth and meat, pan fried pork dumplings and edamame. Everything was so good that we almost finished everything. They also offer several types of beer, wine and sake. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the restaurant is clean with a spare interior. It seems there are specials during the week, but we were there on a weekend. I loved this place, and I'll definitely return to try some other items from the extensive menu. read more

I can't say enough about the food for this place!! food is AMAZING!! So kung Po fried noodles have me screaming for more. Pork scallion balls are the best I have ever had! Add some of the sauce from the king po and you have something excellent. Spring rolls have an excellent crunch! Very tasty. I can't say enough about the food. Had a great lunch here yesterday. Started with a cucumber salad. So good. Very heavy in the garlic department which I love but be warned! Also had an order of the scallion pancakes which were excellent. Noodles were fantastic. Had the lunch special but they subbed in a tofu dish as I don't eat meat. Crispy sesame tofu. Delicious. My friends had the braised beef noodle soup which also came with a side of hand made round noodles, which seems a bit odd but they were delicious. He said it was a really good dish. Spicy. The only dish that wasn't great was the chicken noodle soup with bok choy . My friend said the broth lacked flavor and there was only one piece of bok choy! She added soy sauce and she said that improved it. She thought the broth was not very flavored. Service could have been a bit better. One of the dishes (the beef) took a long time to come out. Our waiter was very good though and knowledgeable. He did apologize for the beef dish taking a long time. Condiments containers were very sticky and greasy as well. They just need to be wiped down from time to time. Overall this was a great lunch and we all said we would be back. read more

Delicious and good service definitely get the dumplings and will come back. I'm not in ABQ that often but I'll try to get back here. I had the Dan Dan noodles which weren't the best Dan Dan noodles I've ever had but it was still very good. The bit of chili broth with it was thinner than I normally like but might just be a personal preference. I like it thinker so it coats the noodles more easily. My mother had a root canal earlier in the morning and wanted something softer and the dumplings were perfect. Very soft, made to order so expect a longer wait, great filling to dumpling ratio. For lunch scored a bowl of miso ramen soup with pork chashu that had excellent flavored broth. Noodles were hand made if I understood correctly and were exquisite: quite dense & al dente. Boiled egg with half soft yolk made for nice additional protein bump to the bowl. Nori ribbons smacked of that salty ocean taste and the kamaboko fish cake added another textural & flavor component, as did the whole kernel corn. A wonderful comfort meal for a chill winter day. Portion was very generous, as is typical with this type of dish. Interior of Noodle Works is pretty small & fairly spartan. Arrive early to insure getting a seat. However, that observation is based on a crowd of about 25 seniors inundating the place. So seating may not be at such a premium on a normal day. read more

I wanted to eat something that reminded me of a comfort back home in Asia and decided to try Noodle Works out... just because even though ABQ has great Vietnamese food...what ABQ really lacks is really great East Asian food...be they Chinese, Japanese or heck..perhaps Korean. I couldn't really think of one Chinese restaurant off the top of my head where I would wholeheartedly recommend...as most places I knew..were more Chinese American style. At Noodle Works, I liked that the place was clean. The menu isn't too big..but has a bit of everything (maybe lacking vegetarian dish though). I got Dan Dan noodles (this dish came with handpulled noodles and spicy minced sauce) and Xiao Long Bao (I hadn't had these...for a long long time). Although their dishes were not 100% blow your mind authentic...I've got to say..they hit a spot for me and I would go back! Even though I didn't get a small sauce container for ginger, vinegar and soy sauce for dipping..I happily indulged the soup dumplings. Service was nice and attentive. The dishes were on slight pricey sides (think $12-16 a dish)...and, so, I probably wouldn't go with Chinese American dish there though and will probably stick more towards Chinese dish (Lanzhou...land, Dan Dan, minced meat etc). But overall, I would love to stop by to have some other Chinese dishes here again! read more

I rated this place 5 stars because of the availability of a table during Sunday lunch, and despite only having three waiters and the place 3/4 full, they got us sat down quickly, brought some menus, and took our order rather quickly. We didn't wait long for the food which came out quicker then expected and was still very hot from the kitchen. Prices were as expected, in-between the 12 and 20 dollar range, a little high but worth it as the food was delicious. Will definitely return for some very good Chinese food! read more

I have eaten here once and tried twice more without success. The waiters the second and third tines were just dimly aware of their own very existence much less able to take a customer order. The last time,, even when I pointed to the picture of the dish, and saying "I want this" the guy couldn't grasp the concept. I then said "Ok never mind, I want dish number such and such" it was unavailable he said. So I tried something else, and after a moment of confusion he said that was also out. I just looked up and stared at him for a few long moments while he looked back at me confused, and I just stood up and walked out. That happened twice in a row with two different waiters. You expect that in Santa Fe but expect better in ABQ. I mentioned this to the friend who told me about this place and he laughed and told me "No you just walk up to counter and tell them what you want and they'll fix you up." Whatever. read more

We have never dined in only call in to go orders. Staff is always friendly when we ask questions they are happy to answer. They also give a courtesy call when food is ready. Prices are a bit high, but there are always leftovers. This is one of our go to places when we are too tired to cook. You won't be disappointed check them out. read more

It's hard to find a good dumpling in Albuquerque. Budai and Fun Noodle Bar are great options, but Noodle Works is our go to for our soup dumpling fix. I definitely prefer to dine in when ordering the XLB soup dumplings so they're hot and fresh. Noodle Works is located next to the Whole Foods on Wyoming/Academy. I have always had a great experience dining in. The service and hospitality is excellent. Dining out - I've had a few instances where they didn't get my order correct, but they always fixed the issue. Besides the soup dumplings, we usually order the chicken fried noodles and the orange chicken with white rice. The spicy dumplings and pan fried dumplings are also an excellent choice. You can't go wrong with any of their dumplings tbh. read more

I enthuuuuusiacticallalallyyy recommend this restaurant. One day I was dreaming of hand pulled noodles, the next day an old teacher of mine invited me here for a date and THEY MAKE THE NOODLES. I've been back on a date with my partner and with my kid--I love bringing people here! It's pretty functional inside, the ambiance isn't exactly artful but there is a weird image of a cat on a giant screen that I am delighted to see with every visit. My kiddo really liked our server. Fresh. Best way to describe the taste. Everything was well prepared and tasted uncomplicated. I Had the West Land chicken noodle. They added some extra spice to line (as requested). It was delicious. The noodles, homemade, were divine! My husband had the sesame chicken and fried rice, he was not as enamored with his meal. The fried rice was kind of different, almost a beefy taste. However, I had done of the sesame chicken snd I thought it was quite tasty,. We also had the spring rolls as appetizers, loved the crunch, not so much the insides. Tucked away in a corner of shopping center is Noodle Works. As we entered we were warmly greeted told to "sit anywhere" We got our menu and the selection was mind boggling! Having choices of dumplings, noodle dishes, fried rice etc... So I had the super tonkatsu ramen , hubby had chicken fried rice and split an order of samsun steamed dumplings. As my bowl of ramen was placed on the table, it smelled heavenly :) The broth was rich, the bamboo shoots, crunchy, and the noodle were perfect! They had a nice bounce and overall, it was just wonderful! The dumplings, freshly steamed and the filling was sooo tasty! Hubby devoured the fried rice, and nodded that it was good. This little hidden gem is wonderful. A board with new offerings and a menu that is huge, but filled with tasty treats! The service was wonderful, double checked with my food allergy, the restaurant is clean and friendly, and if you want noodles with Asian flair, look no further! Was really excited to try this place, gave it two stars for the staff being awesome. Seriously, great staff. I got the spicy beef noodle that they recommended as best. I was super excited because I miss Asia and was hoping the homemade noodles would taste like home. Personally didn't care for them. It also wasn't spicy for a spicy dish....wayyy too oily. Also tried the pancake- same thing, wayyyy too much oil. Other than that, tasted ok. The dipping sauce for the pancake and dumplings was pretty boring also. The pan fried dumplings were decent. I've never had dumplings fried before so it was an interesting experience. As someone who is part Asian and has lived in Asia, I don't think I can speak to this place for authenticity.
