I realized a while ago i had not been here in years, so lastnight i corrected that. please be warned they do often close earlier than 9 on weekdays even though ther sign says 9pm. Seemed to be clean but did that a table sat unclean while I ate my meal. I was the only person there so they could have cleaned it. Meal on the menu did not seem expensive but when I got the bill $28 for the special and order of egg rolls, hmmm... I must say though this is one of the cleaner looking establishments. Staff was friendly and told me they do sell things like egg rolls in bulk. The food was okay. I think maybe change the rice. I had fried rice and it was bland. Pork egg rolls had very little pork. You can tell the owners (which by the way are the cook and waitress) are whole-heartedly devoted to showing their customers a nice dining experience. The lady is so sweet and personable and the gentleman assists her in bringing your food to your table. Plate presentation is a big deal to me and Mandarin has yet to fail. I live 2 minutes away and so I try really hard not to go too often because I don't want to tarnish it. They have many different lunch and dinner options. I'd recommended the Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. FYI- their sriracha is tremendous. I'd recommend bringing a group of friends or family. Come hungry. read more

I had lunch here for the first time (5-3-22) as I don't live near here but had an errand in the neighborhood. The place was clean, decorated nicely and the lady who waited on us was very nice. We got the dinner for two (and of course had leftovers). Egg drop soup, egg roll, crab Rangoons (which I love), bbq ribs (small portion, but it is an appetizer), pork fried rice, lo mien and sweet and sour pork. LARGE portions of the rice, s&s pork and lo mien. All of it was very good! The ice tea was very good. Used plates were picked up right away so we didn't have to look at them which kept the table neat. The food came out of the kitchen in record time so we didn't have to wait but a few minutes. I would eat here again if I lived near. I highly recommend this restaurant. I don't understand the bad reviews. We had a very good lunch. read more

This divey gem is hiding on Carlisle Blvd in an unattractive little strip mall. You would never know some of the best Chinese food in Albuquerque is right here. My family comes here often; it is one of our favorite "don't want to cook tonight" choices. Once we ordered the Peking duck ahead of time - and next to having it in Shanghai - it was the best I've had in America. THE BEST hot and sour soup in the Southwest - no holds barred seriously - not kidding. Orange chicken is always yummy - a repeat order time and again. We always get the Chao Hofun with bbq pork and if you ask them to bring the chili sauce it makes it extra special. Potstickers...etc....yummy yummy yummy. And it's never noisy. Ordered delivery...Buddha Delight and Ma Pao Tofu. Both were supposed to be hot and spicy. Even asked for extra spicy. Bland, bland, bland. No flavor at all. After doctoring both dishes up, I noticed a mildewy taste in the Buddha Delight. Rotten carrots. I'm going to post a photo. The celery was tough and stringy, the entire dish overcooked. I didn't want broccoli so they subbed zucchini (which would not have been my choice) cut into weird too large pieces. We were not delighted by Buddha Delight. Ma Pao Tofu had large baby corn with tough cobs. Couldn't eat those. Tasteless. Had to add chili black bean paste, soy sauce, cayenne, and sesame oil to make it slightly edible...By this point we didn't want any of it. On top of that, I was charged $2 for a bag of crispy noodles (that weren't crispy because the Buddha Delight leaked all over it) and 1$ each for 1 oz of hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce. The combo meals seem like they are mostly made with scraps from the kitchen. The BBQ ribs that come with the combo meal were mostly fat and gristle, with very little meat. The veggies for the cashew chicken that came with the combo meal included quite a lot of broccoli stems. In contrast, the items from the main menu were reasonably good. read more

It was flavorful and spicy, unlike the last time when it was not at all spicy last time. They still have issues with overfilling their takeout boxes, and once again all the sauce/oil from my dish was on the rest of my food and at the bottom of the bag. This my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Albuquerque! My son always goes for the Shrimp Fried Rice, with extra lettuce. Yes, I said extra lettuce for a teenager, & of course extra sweet & sour sauce to pour over the rice. My favorite lunch entree is the Spicy Chicken, with just the right amount of heat and very fresh crunchy veggies. It comes with the basic fried rice and their signature, delicious, home made chicken egg roll. My wife loves the Sweet & Sour Shrimp & Chicken Lo Mein Combo. My wife is very sensitive to an abundance of oil in her food and Mandarin Chinese Restaurant doesn't disappoint. She never feels ill after leaving this restaurant.
