We came here at few weeks ago to order takeout to support the business because my girlfriend read that they had some run in some some teens the night prior. They were pretty busy that night we stopped in. My girlfriend had the happy family and I had the house pan fried noodles. Going to be completely honest. It was mid. Same sauce used for both dishes. I always tend to lean towards anything house special because its going to be the restaurants take on their style. I will say there were more veggies than noodles for my dish. The restaurant itself is very seems spacious and I did see an older gentleman chowing down on multiple plates while we were waiting on our food. Had heard many things about this place! Many said do not pay attention to the restaurant or don't judge a book by its cover. This is accurate!! It is very plain and a little dated and dirty. We decided to eat in and I regretted that when we sat down. The bench wobbled when we sat and I felt a little unsure but was fine. When the waitress picked up the menus, it was stuck to the table. Like really stuck! She said oh the table had too many ch water, but you could see soy sauce all over it. First thing we noticed was the large variety of items which was a bit of a red flag. But then we noticed the very very large amount of orders being picked up!! It was insane!! Nonstop for 45 minutes!!! Now the food!! We did the combo plates and a side. First mistake was the combo plate! Amazing amount of food but so much on the small plate!! I had a hard time eating it there was so much!! I ordered the egg foo hung but it was so fresh and so hot I could not eat it. It has way more chicken then egg which has good and bad there! The rice is great! Egg rolls so good! I just ordered from GrubHub. I got the beef lo mein and the ribs. The ribs are little tiny, scrap pieces of meat that are no flavor to them. They're not ribs. Their pieces and they were dry and flavorless. The lo mein was a little pieces of lo mein and a little bit of meat thrown in it! The lo mein was chopped up in about 2 inch pieces! And it was flavorless. I've heard they were good, but I would never recommend it. read more

Ok, well new to Rio Rancho, I'm trying out all the nearby Chinese restaurants. The second I tried was Best Lee's. I had the pepper steak lunch special which was good considering the very affordable price of $7.65. The food was hot and tasty, the vegetables were still crispy, but the beef was a little bit chewy. It didn't bother me too much, I just think that the meat wasn't velveted. The hot and sour soup broth was good but would have been better if it had mushrooms, black fungus, and more tofu. It is hard to find a decent spring roll anywhere these days, so I can't expect theirs to be any better than the rest. It seems like some critical reviews expect Best Lee's to be perfect but they need to consider that the excellent lunch prices don't break the bank. I will be back for lunch but think that a chicken or pork dish would be more tender. What really disappoints me is that corporate franchises like KFC, Church's, Subway, and Mc Donald's, etc. have raised their prices through the roof even though the quality of their food and their customer service have gone downhill. This has made it hard to return to any of them. Best Lee's may not be the best but they are good, have my respect, will recommend, and I will definitely come back. We need more, not less, honest, reasonably priced, and locally owned restaurants like this. read more

I loved eating here. The food is delicious, and feels authentic. The owner makes sure you receive excellent service, and is very nice and considerate. The overall vibe/ambiance is very cozy and warm, it feels like eating at your grandparents house. I wish I took photos, I'll make sure to do so next time! I went here this evening for dinner. As I was having my orange chicken and noodles I reached for some of the bottom pieces and they were cold as well as the broccoli. I called and spoke to management and they assured me "we cook everything fresa!" I really have my doubts. This reminded me to much of when I ordered from Olive Garden they're to go bowls, which are cold and you take home to warm up. I highly doubt Best Lee's "makes every order fresh". I guess mine was too fresh (cold). The Rangoon's I got were pretty hot, giving it a "fresh" taste... I know when my food is cold and warm and the bottom portion is cold. So maybe if they're going to microwave what seems to be pre packed food in the fridge or freezer, ya might want to stir it. read more

My family and I used to be extremely pleased with Best Lee's. If we wanted Chinese food that was our go-to place. However the last two times we have been we have noticed a significant decline in quality. When I would recommend this restaurant previously I would tell everyone that the vegetables were extremely fresh and the cuts of meat were great. The last two times we have been there is a notable difference in the quality of the meat. The orange chicken was your typical low quality primarily breaded chicken with a small sliver of low quality Chicken on the inside . It felt like a cheap chicken nugget from a fast food restaurant. On our last trip we got a beef dish. Instead of the plump tender beef we were used to again the quality was definitely poor with notable pieces of tough meat. Unfortunately this will no longer be our go-to place given that that was two times in a row . We were hoping the first one was just a one-off bad night but apparently not. read more

We don't order food often, but when we order Chinese this is our place. Portions are good, food is always fresh and it's usually delivered within 30 minutes. The General Yao's chicken is pretty good--they use chicken breasts and it's very crispy...not greasy...and the sauce has a nice flavor. Beef with broccoli is always a solid choice. I've only had the hot and sour soup so I can't attest to any of the others. I've yet to find Chinese food that blows my mind, but this is a reliable option. read more

Wow. Ive eaten, (delivery) here about three other times in the last year. My husband, myself and my adult kids like the food. However....last night for dinner we ordered delivery from Best Lee's again; i got hot and sour soup because i was sick with a cold and wanted something really hot with chile. Ive eaten hot and sour soup at other restaurants and i always love it. I also got the pu pu platter. My husband got hot and sour soup too and got the extra hot and got orange beef. My daughter got shrimp lomein. The food came very quickly. So quickly that we couldnt believe it. When i opened up my pu pu platter i just stared at it. Everything in it was VERY over cooked. I couldn't even tell what i was eating. I wish i had taken a picture of it like i usually do when i write yelp reviews. There were what looked like chicken on skewers. Im not exaggerating when i say they looked exactly like beef jerky. I tried to chew one but couldnt lol. Honestly we figured that they had leftovers and just refried them. Some of the items were black, that's how burnt they were. The hot and sour soup had ZERO heat. None. Nada. And there wasnt anything in it. Just broth and a few small pieces of todu The ribs had turned to jerky. The butterflied shrimp was the only half way edible things on the plate and the coating was very dark and very crispy. Tonight, being the #GreatAmericanTakeOut2, we decided to go to Best Lee's, which is close to our house. Their hot and sour soup is one of our family's favorites, for when someone has a cold. And you can bet we got some. We also got a Family Special D, which has Teriyaki chicken, Wonton soup, General Tso's chicken, chicken with broccoli and shrimp with garlic sauce. Also, pork lo mein. This included rice. Their menu says it feeds five, but we think it would feed more. First visit there and was definitely not impressed. The restaurant was filthy. I walk to the back restroom to wash my hands and could not believe the unsanitary conditions. The smell in the restaurant was unpleasant, and it wasn't the smell of food. The floors looked like the hadn't been mopped in quite sometime. A few dirty tables when we walked in and I did notice that the baby high chairs that were being utilized were not being cleaned and sanitized after each use. Definitely will not be back. read more

Found this awesome restaurant by accident. Best find ever! Their Hot and Sour soup is the best I've had in a long time! I had the Garlic Sauce pork and was pleasantly surprised at the large portion containing lots of perfectly cooked vegetables and pork in an absolutely delicious sauce. There was so much food that I took the rest home. Reheated, it was as delicious and awesome as originally served. This is definitely my go-to place from now on, no matter what! read more

Have not been here for a while and there is a big change in quality of food, it used to be some of the best food, this time the meat was dry and hard, must have not been freshly made. The egg drop was not tasty. Fried rice was dry, all the food was not what it used to me. I think I will not be back for a while. This place has gone down hill fast. The wife and kids got water, but there was something on the bottom of the cup they said it was ice. I was like ice floats why would it be sitting on the bottom of the cup plus it did not melt. Hmm I am very disappointed in the service and the food. Our waitress I am guessing the owners daughter. I tried this place twice. I'm not a fan of the rice used - I like sticky rice and this didn't clump up at all for easy eating with chopsticks. However, I really enjoyed the orange chicken and the General Tso's chicken. My daughter loved the sweet and sour chicken and the sesame chicken.
