This is hands down the best takeout chinese food I've had in Albuquerque. Prices are great, portions are exceptional and the chicken actually feels and taste like normal chicken. Unlike many other chinese food spots where the chicken is chewy and questionable. I've never had a disappointing meal from here. The owners are soft spoken and kind. Some would criticize them for that but I don't see a problem. While starting a drawn out conversation isn't automatic, completing your order is easy. This is a friendly local business. Also I noticed some criticism on the location which I don't understand. The location is in a well kept and popular shopping center. I would give zero stars if I could!!! This is by far some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The wonton soup has nothing inside the wontons it's just soggy noodles, it's in like water not a broth or oyster. The sweet and sour is gross and the chicken was burnt, it has way to much vinegar compared to the sweetness! The egg roles are really just spring rolls with a small piece of pork if your lucky inside. The low menu is disgusting and not made with low neon noodles but more like rice noodles. The egg drop soup is okay at best. The customer service is non existent and they charge for a small bag of wonton crisps that normally come with soup orders... all in all don't waste your money here it sucks!!! read more

I am 5months pregnant I was craving vegetables I ordered the vegetable chow mein for the first time we normally get the D19 every time for years never really order anything else but today I was feeling bold I got home everything was good until the end when I was transferring my chow mein to my other dish I noticed a spotted cockroach smack in the middle. I have never had this happen to me in my life I've seen people that it's happened to but never me grossed out I put all the food in the bag and took it back to show her. The lady grabbed my food looked at it did not say one word to me went to the back and told her husband something and THREW it in the trash came back and looked at the rest of the food and started counting money from cash register mind you she still has not said one word to me she hands me $26 my total for the food was $36 I told her that I paid more for it she tells back at me" you ate half the food" I mean extremely rude! I told her yes that is before I seen the bug at the end but I told her you know ow what it's ok I'll take what you gave me I showed another customer as I was walking out the picture the customer then asked her for a refund for her food that she was wanting for and the lady behind the counter said I was rude and I put the cockroach in there smh I would not waste my time I loved that place we've been going there for years I understand people are human but this lady didn't even APOLOGIZE I don't ever write reviews but this time I just wanted to share my experience here. read more

New Dragon - Albuquerque,NM So this place is kind of a dump, but man they make some killer food. So many pros: 1. Pretty large portions for the price. Most entrees are like $5-7 and that's pretty cheap considering how HUGE the to go orders end up being. I have no idea if this is accurate for eating inside the restaurant. ‍ 2. Food is delicious Some of our favorites are the lo mein (my favorite of any Chinese place so far), sweet and sour pork, Kong pao chicken, and pretty much anything and everything we have tried here. Cons: 3. Mega slow Be prepared to wait close to an hour or more, sloiw or not slow. I think they're always busy. We've ordered like 4x and it's always a long wait time. Well worth it for freshly made, cooked to order food. 4. Language barrier. This is usually the case, and I'm not being insensitive. It's just a little hard to order and ensure correct orders sometimes. Mostly over the phone. Going in person or ordering on door dash is easier. Just a mini heads up. I say this because our phone order was messed up but never any other way we ordered was. 5. Dumpy location Not the best location, shopping center, area or actual storefront. It looks super old and dumpy inside. Great hole in the wall vibe, but not the best for actually spending time in. The cons totally don't outweigh the pros though. We'd order more because it's super close to home, but the slowness is sometimes off putting if we're really hungry. Anyway, give them a shot! They're pretty awesome. read more

My family of four had just finished grocery shopping and we were starving. New Dragon is conveniently located in a busy plaza so we decided to stop in and try it out. We ordered at the counter and within 15 minutes our food was made to order to take home with us. We noticed a lot of call in orders were being picked up so I think that's the way to go for next time. First time trying this place out. First off, while trying to order, the woman would answer every call and take orders before finishing taking the order from the person standing in front of her - me. She seriously never learned the words "please hold." Next, the food sucks, plain and simple. The sweet and sour sauce is literally watered down so much that even when cooled down completely, is still like water. We literally had to make our own S&S sauce at home to even try this. The chicken and pork were both waaay overcooked and seriously dry. The rice was just white rice with an egg mixed in - almost no flavor at all. Crab rangoons had zero crab. Every single food item was a pre-packaged item, except the blah rice. I can only assume that those leaving positive reviews have never had chinese food before. The food here is not very good. We ordered three things to test the restaurant to see how well the food is here, because finding good chinese food is difficult. We ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chop Suey, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Of the three we ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken was the best. Although I use this term lightly because it is just friend chicken with sweet and sour sauce that is shipped to every Chinese takeout restaurant. The fried rice was very light in color. It was also very bland tasting and after one bite I never touched it again. At least use the darker soy sauce to give it some color! I'm looking for a darker version without peas and carrots. Can't stand peas and carrots in my fried rice. The chicken chop suey was alright. The only issue I had with this was that it left an after taste that I didn't care for. I also didn't care for how it was packaged for take-out. It was just in a Styrofoam container that leaked all over the bag it was in. Made getting everything out when we got home very messy. I've been on the hunt since moving here to find a good Chinese local place and I think I might've just found it last night, and it's only a hop skip and a jump from our place (why we decided to try) which makes it a PLUS for us. Due to mixed reviews I was a little skeptical BUT pffff.... I'm glad I went in and dined. I don't understand what people expect from a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. Yes it is a little hole in the wall BUT it was super clean (which to me is more important than cloth napkins or fancy booths) and the food was AWESOME! TOTALLLY hit the spot. I will say they do take their time cooking your meal BUT again to me that just means everything is FRESH (EVERY bite gave me that impression) their portions are HUGE too. My sister's and my favorite pastime is eating Chinese takeout and watching bad '90s movies. So, for every holiday we usually get a couple of orders of Sauteed Mixed Vegetables with Tofu and Ma Po Tofu from New Dragon. We've tried all of the veggie options and these are the best, unfortunately their Lo Mein doesn't make the cut. Take this place as your average Chinese takeout spot. She will say 20 mins but give it 30-40, but the nice thing, when you pick up your food - the food is fresh and hot. The food has good taste and they give a good amount of vegetables. Another little mom and pop restaurant I've come to love in the past year. The food is fantastic and the portions are phenomenal for the price you pay! I especially like the pork fried rice but the egg foo young and wonton soup is also great too. Just be aware that this restaurant gets busy at times and you might have to wait a bit but it's definitely worth it. The food was good. The service was dissapointing. We walked in for the first time and didn't see a menu in the front so we didn't know if we needed to find a table or order at the register. We walked up to the register anyway and the woman was talking on a cell phone. She grabbed a paper menu and handed it to us without saying anything. Still confused we went to a table to read the menu. It was only after other people came in and ordered at the register that we realized what we were supposed to do. We both ordered lo mein. I got the beef lo me in and my boyfriend got the beef, pork, shrimp, and chicken lo main. Both tasted good and everything tasted fresh. The only umpleasent taste was from the ice in the coke machine. If I ever go back it will only be as carry out. The food is decent and it's conveniently close to me but the bad costumer service will keep me from eating there.
