I am 67 and finally had the worst breakfast of my life. Home fries????? big hunks of greasy paprika potatoes that were larger than stew cut. eggs brown from the grill being to hot.smallest toast ever. could not eat the home fries. two orders of eggs over easy , toast two crappy slices of bacon, two cups of coffee for 25 dollars.The owner cooked this crap. I have been in food service for almost 50 years and this is the worst ever. read more

This diner offers a relaxing atmosphere where Chefy and his his friendly waiter, George, serve up hearty meals to many regulars and the out- of- town folks like me. The service was prompt as I perused the bright yellow menu, and the coffee was perfect for a snowy NY morning. My choice was the Irish Benedict with corned beef hash. It was piping hot, well seasoned and a nice portion that left me wanting nothing else. The diner has booths, counter stools and tables. The decorations consisted of Plattsburgh hockey pictures, Boston Celtic, Montreal Canadians, and many funny sayings/slogans. This is a great place to wake up and smell the coffee. Went here for breakfast... but nope. A crappy dinner that's only open till 2, stops serving breakfast at 11. How stupid. I'm never going there again. $9for a burger and a bag of chips from sams club. Get your shut together. So nasty. And the inside looks like it belongs in the projects. read more

Visited today. Had eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were made as perfect as perfect as can be! Not an easy feat! I enjoyed complementing the chef/owner on his food! And chatting about our mutual interests! Make sure you visit this diner the next time you're in Plattsburgh. You won't regret it! read more

The love affair started a few years ago. The stunners were / are the best breakfast sandwich around, well most of their food was amazing and the prices were the best! Unfortunately, 5 of the last 5 meals I have eaten all come with burnt specs / pieces from the griddle / cook top. Who wants to taste burnt crap while trying to eat? Today I went in for one last potential positive visit. They quit selling $2.25 bottles of soda and now sell $2 cans of soda. This level of cheapness doesn't fare well with me. To top it off, both the bread and ham from the grilled cheese and ham had black flakes of burnt food from the grill. I don't have the heart to spend my money there if they can't clean the grill and if they rip me off with a $2 can of soda that doesn't last the meal. Goodbye Dukes, you used to be awesome. To be honest, the staff is 100% amazing and the prices are still very reasonable. read more

I'm from Montreal. Had to come to town to run a few errands with my cousin. Duke's is a true small town dinner with its booths, arcade games, and owner working the kitchen. We sat down and had a really sweet waitresses who we chatted with for a few minutes. And then I had a corn beef hash which was outstanding. read more

3.5-4 Dukes is a good small town diner- currently my favorite breakfast spot in Plattsburgh. The omelets are large, not greasy, and packed with veggies. Service is usually fast. Add potatoes for $2 the lunch menu is mostly meat/potato dishes but usually the kitchen doesn't have a problem with leaving the meat out. read more

Just what it says....its a diner. But dont be fooled, Dukes from the appearance is just a hole in the wall diner but, the food is delicious. The burgers are awesome, and ive had them just about every way they serve them. A real burger , not that frozen crap. The Reuben is also great...and they slice it thick and serve it unlike any other place ive had a Reuben. Me and the fellas from work (power cables from ny to vt) frequented this place a lot and its a hit with us. And we like to eat :-) Me and my buddies are shutting down for the winter, but best believe as soon as we get back we will frequent here for lunch again. Came to Duke's Diner on a rainy Saturday with our family - for brunch. The food was excellent, with great portions - the pricing was on par with other joints that served similar food. The service was excellent. The only drawback was if you ordered water, it's bottled water at $2/bottle!! Restaurant was at reduced capacity - a bunch of to-go orders. They have the option of ordering from your car, with a huge menu on the side of the shop. Definitely a place I'd go to again - the food was that good. read more

Greasy food that did not taste good. Glad I haven't been missing out my whole life as this was the first time I have been here and I am old.

This is place is SO great it could almost be called a restaurant. When you walk in, you get a breath of atmosphere that could only be found in the american west. Once the door closes behind you all the patrons stop what they are doing and stare at you with a look usually reserved for prison lineups. I was lucky enough that the waitress gave me 25 minutes to soak in this loving atmosphere before taking my drink order. The booth I had sat in with my boyfriend had the rustic feel of an 18th century school house. The menus that were given to us were printed on the finest of church brochures. After ordering our breakfast I decided to venture into the unisex restroom, and I was ecstatic to see that it was furnished with only the finest materials from your local Ace hardware. To make it feel more like home the toilet paper was left sitting on the sink counter, there was pube on the toilet seat(that wasn't mine) and there were a pile of dirty clothes behind the door. When I say door, I refer the door I entered through, not the other door that next to the toilet, which was mysteriously locked from the other side. When our food arrived, I was relieved to see that they took all health and safety measures while preparing our food. The potatoes, were burnt black and garnished with fresh ripe onions. To save on water, the chefs must have cooked the eggs in the same pan, because the eggs were the color of an old mans shoe. It was also very considerate of the chefs to think I was on a diet and give me only two pieces of half cooked bacon. The only negative thing I have to say is that I did not receive one of their "' Survived Dukes Diner' t-shirts. Being a said survivor I feel ostracized from the local community and feel like they should have sold me one of their t-shirts when I tried to ask. Unfortunately, our waitress must have been busy outside because we never saw her again. I would love to go back, however I do not believe I have the gusto to handle the wild west persona that they show patronage to. read more

Very poor quality food. I got a chef salad one day and the meat was covered with a gel like substance like you would find on canned meat. The prices are reasonable but the quality is very poor. Also poor customer service. read more

Gosh this place needs some serious revamping. The inside feels like a school cafeteria. Came here for a quick lunch while passing through town. I got a reuben sandwich and my friend got a cheeseburger. The reuben was tiny with dry corned beef and not enough dressing. I had to ask for mustard on the side just to get it down. Friend's cheeseburger was extremely dry and overcooked. Plattsburgh is small, but there has to be a better diner somewhere in town. read more
