We took a road trip from Montreal for the day to Plattsburgh and stopped here to have a late lunch. Google recommended this place as kid friendly and family oriented and yes it very much was! They have crayons and a coloring menu for the kiddos with fun activities included. They have a nice selection of kids menu- my kids opted for the rainbow sprinkles pancakes. Who knew that breakfast can be served even after 11am!?? This place does!!! The kids meal also comes with a drink, a cookie and choice of side and we got the broccoli. I LoVE that they had fresh veggies to choose from too. One of my daughters even ONLY ate the broccoli and not the pancakes... how in the world that happened I have no idea!! So the broccoli was really good. As for the main menu they are known for their "all day breakfast" menu. I personally got their classic melted chicken sandwich and opted for their homemade onion rings yum!!! It was super filling and a nice stop to fuel up before heading back home. Everyone there was also super nice and friendly too! They checked up on us and asked us if we needed anything which I appreciate. This is a popular spot for folks from both side of the border to dine (as evident by the number of French speaking customers), as well as guests staying at the Comfort Inn to which it's attached. In a not-full restaurant on a Sunday morning, we had a 10 minute wait for a table, which implied they were short staffed. However the waitress we got was charming and very professional and a pleasure by whom to be served. Our breakfasts were pretty basic, but the pancakes were quite good (they'd better be; if you recall, the original name of the chain was Perkins Pancake House). It's unfortunate that they were accompanied by a scoop of tasteless spread passing for butter, and a ridiculously thin syrup - I've had pours of Scotch with better viscosity than the syrup. We came in around 515 on a Saturday and were seated immediately. By 545 there was a waiting list. Can't fault the service- all of these young people were hustling. Our young man was friendly and my only service related complaint is that he never offered refills. The food was tasty but wasn't perfect. I got the triple decker club and while the turkey was actually really delicious and the bread was perfectly toasty, my sandwich was completely devoid of the promised bacon. So, I had a club layer that consisted of just lettuce and tomato...which is kind of funny. My husband got the pot roast with fries. He thought both were flavorful but neither the fries nor the pot roast were hot. Not even close. I think his meal sat while they fried my tater tots cuz those were screaming hot. I can only compare Perkins to Denny's because that is the only other type of restaurant that I've been to with a very similar feel. Perkins offers about the same menu but with their own variety of differences. Came here for breakfast around 10am during family weekend for SUNY Plattsburgh, but the wait was only 10 minutes or so. There were small complimentary muffins being offered to those who were waiting, and those were amazing. It gave us a small taste of the food we had in store. The breakfast exceeds that of Denny's. Not everything was amazing, but it definitely has more flavor and is made better. The best breakfast item has to be the Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit Breakfast. It is extremely large and heavy, but oh so tasty. The Mammoth muffins are also to die for. I ordered a Pumpkin Cream Cheese muffin, which was just a pumpkin muffin with cream cheese glaze on top, but it came out warm and was large enough to share with others. Their bakery items are the most exciting things in the restaurant (pies!!). There were some downsides to our breakfast, not everything was to par but overall a good experience. I would return to try the savory lunch/dinner foods to see what else is in store! read more

Are breakfast two consecutive week day mornings and was pleased with our breakfast orders and eating in a dine in restaurant. Seating is spaced for pandemic reasons, staff wear masks and customers are asked to where masks. There is a purell hand sanitizer near the front door. I watched tables being sanitized after a group left. You need to request salt and pepper shakers because they are not left on tables anymore. Yes they do wipe down the glass surface of the shaker. The food was really good as usual. The best part of this visit was the staff. I walked through the door 10 minutes before closing and normally you hear "we closed." The manager (young guy with glasses) I will get his name next time, sat me and the server came right over and took my order. This is HUGE in this industry and whatever the manager is making, it's not enough. I haven't had that good of an experience in YEARS. This is my go to breakfast/lunch place in Plattsburgh. It's conveniently located right off the highway with lots of parking. As soon as you walk in you can grab one of their delicious fresh mini-muffins before going to your table. Service is always friendly and quick. Personally I think they have the best pancakes....perfect every time. They have a good diverse menu and you get a pretty large amount of food for the price......however to be fair I have the same thing every time. I build my own omelette and it comes with a good choice of sides but I always take the pancakes and fruit. My recommendation: Build your own omelette is $9.99 and includes 2 ingredients and then it's $0.50 for each additional ingredient.
