Had to use the ole Yelp machine to figure out where the heck to eat in Plattsburgh after a meeting....and blammo! We found this gorgeous lil gem! Listed as "an American bistro" and of course, I'm curious what that looks like in different areas of our state, so it had to happen. It's hard to argue that this place exudes anything less than fine dining, and appears to be on the level of any larger metropolitan areas' concepts of decor and environs. Very modern play on the clash of materials and colors, decorated with a certain flair that literally makes you feel at home, and yet somewhere fancy at the same time. But....I came here to eat! So what do they have?!? A rather well-curated menu that truly shows their ambitions and k ow how to be a favorite spot of many a foodie. Starters like white truffle fries, duck wings, and even Mexican street corn polenta are enough to catch the eye and the taste buds! Sandwiches, flat breads, burgers, fish & chips, crab-stuffed sole... and so much more! I was feeling like a carbivore, and had my eye on the citrus garden pasta. One walked by me with a server and I needed it. Summer squash, corn, basil, olive oil, lemon juice, goat cheese done with cellentani pasta...oh hell yes! I blew past the vegan version like a it was a miniature stop sign and added the grilled chicken - trust me my carnivorous friends - that wasn't a mistake! It set the dish up and over and beyond! If you're looking for fried food, basic chicken parm or other classic chain food this is not the place. This place is for unique fresh offerings that make you think you're in a big city. I've lived in Plattsburgh for a year and 2/11/26 was my first visit. I thought we were early but the place was packed at 5:30! There was only the high table by the kitchen door left but the food more than made up for it. We started with the fried calamari and garlic breadsticks. Calamari was tender and crisp, cooked to perfection and served with a tang sauce. They served the tentacles which is my favorite part! Breadsticks were toasted strips of Italian bread swimming in garlic. 4 may seem like a small serving but it was just enough of a carb. I had the stuffed chicken breast which was delicious, filled with prosciutto and fresh spinach. Filling dinner with enough left for lunch. My aunt had a cheese burger and the truffle parm fries . I didn't try the burger but it looked amazing! Thick, juice and cooked to order. The fries were a 10/10 so amazing! Crispy and delicious served with the best horseradish sauce Ive ever had Smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of heat to make your eyes water! If nothing else try the fries!!! After such a meal we had no room for dessert and leftovers. Our waiter Keegan was attentive and followed us out to bring us our togo boxes we forgot. Portion sizes are normal, not huge, which we are fine with. Drink menu is very appealing also. This restaurant is more than 4 stars and has the potential to be 5 stars. Latitude 44 is a bit more pretentious than merited imo. Both food and drink menus are fairly extensive and food is well prepared, but the service (and low number of low carb options) is where I'm lost. Hours are limited and coming close to closing is *noticeably* frowned upon, otherwise service is pretty good. Ambiance is typical for a bistro dinner of this size. All in all, it isn't a bad place to visit but nothing stands out as extraordinary. read more

I love this restaurant. I have been coming here for years. In all fairness I should have written a review sooner singing praises. However, what has happened tonight has happened on multiple occasions to me now. Their 8pm close time is the most unprofessional, rigid close time I have ever experienced. Emma, the manager, refused to allow our wonderful server to place an order for a second round of drinks. The plates hit the table at 810pm and that was it. My recommendation is this... go to the Twisted Carrot downtown. Seating until 8pm, once seated, service continues until your meal is complete. Including beverages. I can recommend Latitude for lunch, but would avoid for dinner unless you like eating the AARP blue plate special at 5pm so you can be tucked in with your socks on by 8. read more

Since the Pandemic, everything has changed, including restaurants, primarily due to staff shortages, inflation, etc. How refreshing it was to go back to Latitude 44 today, ( we have frequented many times in the past). I had not been here in a year and now I know why . They try hard yet food quality is fair to medium at best . Small Portions for price paid . And Wine $13.00 for one glass a bit much ! We had Fish & Chips $14.00 a piece and a half , I substituted salad instead of fries and they fit it all on the tiny appetizer size plate . The other dish was Chicken & Pasta which had great flavor again. Small portions for price paid . In the Plattsburgh area there are better choices. read more

Once again, a restaurant fails the single diner test. The couple at the outdoor area got offered a second beverage and dessert. I got a cleared table and the check.....The spinach salad with feta and walnuts was a generous portion. The candied walnuts were very good and there was enough cheese that you wouldn't need to add proteins for a main course. I got blackened shrimp, although I had said NOT blackened. May give the place one more chance. You would think restaurants would give single diners the same level of service as couples because we might come back with a group. On this case, on a slow day, (there were all of 2 parties there) they lost the price of coffee and dessert. The ice cream stand down the street benefitted. read more

Stew meat dose not make beef tips and beef is not a sub for bison . Also two guys can date and be on one bill :). Offering a box for food you didn't eat doesn't make the food better. We didn't say we weren't going to pay the bill and the server driving home we still had to pay was cute end to the visit. Not from around here, and never write reviews on yelp, but when you have an experience like I did tonight, it would be improper not to. Service was top notch, thanks Mandy! Duck wings are absolutely amazing. My party decided that the reason wasn't because they are not only seasoned to perfection, but because they are cooked to perfection! Perfectly crispy and simply delicious. The margarita flatbread you could tell was made with fresh heirloom tomatoes and tasted superb. The chicken chorizo sandwich was also outstanding. The sweet potato fries are cooked perfectly (I like to consider myself a self proclaimed sweet potato fry connoisseur) and these are top notch. Outstanding food! I am in town on business and had no idea where to eat so Yelp directed me here and holy smokes can these guys cook. I'm the son of a chef so I know what good food should taste like. This place is a must visit. Their beer menu needs to come up with the times and serve some good local craft brews...with Lawson's Finest, Alchemist, Long Trail, Foley Brothers, & Hill Farmstead among others right across the lake, they could do a lot better in the beer dept. read more

We frequent Latitude 44; we would go more often, but because they don't take reservations, the wait can be hours. Glad they have additional seating now -- I suspect this will alleviate some of the pain. Food is top-notch -- must try the lamp chops (I think they are an occasional special, although there is always the half-rack of lamb on the menu)! Mussels are wonderful. Presentation, portions and prices are just right. Waitstaff are friendly and attentive. The chef/owner makes rounds to check on diners' experience. Ambiance is casual, quiet and very relaxing (there are arms chairs and sofas to grab drinks and chat). You will not feel rushed even though they are always busy. Wine list is nice and wine portions are super-nice. You will never leave hungry or thirsty, for sure. This is the kind of place Plattsburgh needs, even though it's a bit off the beaten path. Overall not a bad experience but not great. Had the French onion soup and ham and Brie sandwich with apple chutney. The soup had little chunks of meat which some may like but I didn't enjoy. The crouton was legit and so was the amount of cheese. The sandwich was tasty but not anything to write home about. I'd order it again but wouldn't go out of my way for it. Ambiance is nice but the kitchen is open and you could overhear the cooks if you sat in the front. Their conversation wasn't professional and I had an issue with the neon sunglasses one of the cooks refused to take off. That's a personal pet-peeve. If you are looking for something different, give it a try. If your friends want to go, don't fight it. But, if you are looking for a culinary experience, maybe try another spot. read more

My husband and I did not have a good experience. We sat at the bar for 45 minutes waiting for a table. While there we noticed almost every table had ordered burgers. We now know why, my husband ordered a rare steak, stressing rare, it was well done and naturally it was tough. I ordered fish, not so good. We have eaten at Latitude 44 for dinner and brunch. Everything we've had has been imaginative and delicious. Plan to either go early or prepare to wait. They really need more seating. Eating in the "bar" section can be a little noisy - especially if you go with an elderly relative who has trouble hearing. Back area is relaxing and nicely decorated. Here are several "high tops" not really suited for older diners, but given the small space they have, I guess they are necessary. We are looking forward to sitting at the Chef's Table next time. read more

Great food, prices were reasonable for one of the better restaurants in plattsburgh. There were only 2 issues but pretty much ruined the night. The first is that because the place is so small we were stuck with a high table directly next to the shelf where the cooks place the food waiting to be served. My wife had heat lamps blasting down on her back the whole time, I had to stare at them. My tip is to wait for a booth, absolutely never let them put you near the kitchen. Our other problem was that the waitress was just grumpy. She didn't want to be working and didn't care that you knew it. This was our first visit and as much as we like to say we won't let one bad experience ruin something, we most likely won't be back. read more

This was our 4 th visit to Latitude 44. The variety of dishes is good, mixed drink, wine and beer selection is good. Food is generally good, but one dish was off tonight. The grilled chicken pasta arrived in a watery sauce , 1/2 inch of watery sauce. The mix of ingredients was spot on, but the sauce should have been reduced or thickened. Was recommended we should eat here for lunch from employees of Clinton Community College. We figured it was because of how close of proximity to the school. The place is easy to miss as the sign out front is faded. However, make a point not to miss Latitude 44. Service was great and the food was top notch.
