    Inside Valcour Brewing Company, Plattsburgh

Valcour was selected because they're in one of the RV programs that shares their parking lot for overnight parking. So now I can have a beer or two and not have to be concerned about driving. Fabulous! As for the location, the historical marker on the outside of this amazing building reads, "Old Stone Barracks. This building was built in 1838. The oldest structure on the base, stands as a witness to many events significant in American military history. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, February 18, 1971." On a Saturday night, they were not very busy. I was immediately seated inside (air conditioning!) and a helpful waitress took my order. I spent the rest of the evening sipping beer, people watching, writing Yelp reviews. I also managed to consume some (extremely hot!) fried pickle spears. Overnight parking was quiet enough and very level. This was a very pleasant stop and I will definitely return when I am back in Plattsburgh! [Review 1615 of 2024 - 528 in New York - 22638 overall]

Totally delicious food and beer. Got here in time for happy hour and we received a free beer token, we didn't even know!!! The IPA's were hard to choose from and thought I'd love the DIPA but the Magnetic North was our favorite. Seriously, though...I could have drank any of them...think there were four. The poutine was pretty good. Nice to stave off our growing hunger and it came out quickly. Got the Wilbur and they forgot my jalepenos. The burger had two onion rings and poutine and pulled pork. I could hardly fit it in my mouth! Took half home. Was very good. The fries were fresh cut and tasty. I asked for mayo on the side and received it no problem. The bar staff served us outside and she was very attentive even with servicing the bar area. Gave us tastes of the four IPA's willingly. The mushroom Swiss burger was delicious and done perfectly. Another of our party got it with the gluten free bun and no cheese and it was equally delicious. The croc n cheese was the second best Mac the diner has ever had. The so Gouda with chicken came out piping hot, and it stayed very hot the whole time. Kids pizza was definitely enjoyed by our ten yr old diner. This is definitely a place for a repeat visit if and when we're near Lake Placid. Come here, you won't be sorry.

Service is friendly, beers are pretty good. (That strawberry shortcake sour does indeed taste like strawberry shortcake! Even a bit creamy, do it just have some lactose.) Only complaint was with the cheese on the poutine - why melt it?! I want the curds! Show me the curds! Spread them on hot fries and top with hot gravy and they'll get the right amount of melty on their own.

Stopped in for some apps & beers as we passed through Plattsburg to MTL. Highly recommend! Flatbreads were great and the Mimosa Sour beer was SO good! Really friendly and fast service, sat outside comfortably to emjoy the weather.

Service was prompt and the waitress was very accommodating of my low carb diet. Food was delicious and arrived promptly, and prices were reasonable. While I didn't have anything to drink, the craft beer selection is good for the area, and a nearby couple raves about the flight they'd selected.

A shandy and a cooper ale

This place was really "off" for me. You name your place a "brewing" company but they didnt have most of the beers on the list. We ordered the cooper nails after the very sweet waitress gave us a taste, but they only had enough for 1 pint not 2. What!?!??? So I got the shandy which,is just a shandy. Nice looking place. Didnt try the food, not sure if that's what sells this place

9/21/25 at 5 pm. We sat at bar while 4 employees talked to a customer, after 5 minutes we left.

Onion soup is amazing. Add a BLT and wash it down with a glass of their Copper Nails and you cannot go wrong!

Absolutely delicious. I had the shrimp tacos with the poutine side dish and it was all excellent. The Valcour burger was also delicious.

In 2004, the Strand Center for the Arts (formerly the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts) purchased the Theatre and has since undertaken initiatives to restore the Theatre to its former glory." It's one of the BEST places to spend your weekends, watching theatre plays and even a safe space to learn and create masterpieces! This venue is home for the arts of Plattsburgh- we have seen Rocky Horror Picture show during Halloweekend, Cabaret play last week, Journey and Tusk, and Pink Floyd bands play, and Todd Berry, the comedian also performed here this year alone. There are also great refreshments, snacks, beer, wine at the concession stand in between shows. If you also enjoy working with your hands you can take classes for 3D resin earring making, wood carving, sculpting, painting classes. One of my best friends in town, Winosha teaches students young and old how to paint. Many of the actors also teach classes and have graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh. You will also see many of the actors at the YMCA, like Justin the CEO also playing the lead in Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is a beautiful community theatre that accepts everyone and we hope more people get involved for many years to come!

Needless to say, the place was booked solid, and I was very happy to have made my reservation 11 months prior to avoid the "dynamic pricing" others were experiencing throughout the region. It is very conveniently located right off of the I-87 exit and is surrounded by numerous shopping and dining options. Our room was ready when we arrived at 3:30 and check in was fast and easy. The rooms themselves are slightly smaller and laid out differently than a standard Holiday Inn Express, and I suspect this property was converted from another brand. All that said, the rooms were comfortable and clean. The pool was a nice area to kill some time in, and the exercise room was appointed well enough to meet all but the most serious gym-rat's needs. The staff here was outstanding. Despite being absolutely stuffed to the gills with guests, they went out of their way to make sure everything was stocked, clean and ready to go. When I was in the lobby waiting for my food delivery the first night, I watched the poor woman behind the desk greet 3 customers who drove in off the street looking for a room and answer phone calls from several more. She answered all of their questions patiently and with a smile. Not once did, "of course there are no rooms left in this small college town that is in the path of totality the night before the eclipse, you cueball brained nimrod!" come out of her mouth, and that's significantly better than I would have fared if placed in the same situation all day long. I'm not sure if and when I'll be back in the Plattsburgh area, but if I am, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
