Came in with a party of 7 about an hour wait which was not a big deal it was a busy Saturday evening and the place was packed. We all enjoyed beverages at the bar and made new friends. The staff was very attentive. The food!!! Was amazing we started with the special stuffed mini pepper and calamari both fresh and delicious! I had the lasagne and it was the best I have ever had!! Other entrees our table had were the Balsamic Chicken with rice and fresh cooked veggies (no soggy frozen stuff!), homemade pizza and cheesesteak. Came in years past,was good this time absolutely horrible. We booked the room in plenty of time yet they had us confined to a long set of tables squashed together. Barley enough room for our party. Service was super slow with requests going unfilled,took 30 min to get drinks. EVERYONE who had the steak had issues, every steak was overcooked the vegetables were almost raw and uneatable. It took so long to get the food most never bothered to send it back,one did and they never came back to redo the order. One took so long they left because everyone else was done. During dinner and when clearing plates noone asked if we needed refills as we paid for an open bar. Many had empty glasses and bottles. Staff ignored service as they chatted on back. Ordered a filet. Not a steak house, and I get it, but figured they could handle it if that cut was on the menu. Asked for medium rare, but it came out medium well. Mentioned it to the server and was offered a remake. That steak was cooked properly, but they gave me a New York strip instead of the more expensive filet I paid for. This is a Plattsburgh stable for locals, but service and food tend to be hit and miss. On this visit I had chicken parm, which wasn't impressive. However the cheesy bread, apple pie dessert and drinks were spot on. Mickey's has an extensive menu, so there is something for everyone, and the atmosphere a traditional bar/pub ambiance. In this town at least, family, home cook traditional American dishes are hard to come by and only available at maybe 3 locations. Seems its all chain oriented places anymore. This place has been around and stood the test of time and stays busy. I am 50 years old and hard to have something new or to me "wow'ed but let me tell you. I've eaten at this place maybe 10 times over the last year and a half. Mickey's has a casual lounge/bar atmosphere, and the crowd is usually local business people. The food has usually been quite dependable in quality although today I tried their thin crust pizza for the first time, ate two pieces, and took the rest home for the dogs. Don't know why, but it was not in the same league as their Sicilian pizza, which has always been very good. Another favorite here is their smoked pastrami sandwich, which I always love (and probably should've ordered today). We have going to Mickey's for almost 30 Years. It's a very nice place with very friendly staff. The food is great and they try very much to help you if you have food allergies. Maybe they can't do the day you are there. But they will give it their best to get what whatever is available. I'm from a big city and actively try looking up fun different restaurants with amazing food. This place did not disappoint in any aspect. The space was very cute, the bar was spectacular and big. And the food... AND THE FOOD. It was probably some of the best pasta I've tried. The aromatic Italian herbs hit you smack in the face in a mouth watering fashion and the taste was even better- of which I don't know how. Another wonderful thing was they didn't put much salt on it so you can taste every flavor they so carefully put in. I tasted all of the four dishes we had and was in love with all of them. I heard from a local that this place is typically always packed and I can definitely see why. Not a ton of people write reviews though unfortunately and most people don't think to review unless they had a bad experience. The only thing I can say that somewhat ruffled me was the water glasses were a tad small so three gulps and it was gone. Here on a recommendation from the Hampton Inn down the street. First impressions are they have Maine Lunch and are on untapped, so I'm sure it won't disappoint. Ordered a couple specials, the blackened shrimp and the NY Strip creating my own surf and turf. Don't worry, I checked the hotel, there is a refrigerator. The shrimp came out on a bed of spinach with a spicy honey drizzle. Ummm, hello! Genius! It was absolutely delicious. The steak was smothered in a bacon and blue cheese demi. OMG. I wasn't particularly looking for a Friday night meal on a Wednesday, but I got it. This was an amazing little spot that I'll have to work into my rotation. We ordered takeout here. Ordering was easy over the phone and the wait was only 25 mins. Picked up the food and the restaurant was slammed. Prompt service and they even added on desserts for us with no issue. Got food back to hotel and it was tasty. Kids devoured pizza, nice thin crust. Meatballs homemade and the red sauce was phenomenal. The Calzones were also tasty and filled nicely, however the toppings weren't "mixed" more just like quickly thrown in... sausage on one side, pepperoni on the other. Regardless, the order was correct, nothing missing and prepared fresh and hot. They even supplied us with extra to go tins as plates and utensils. Would recommend. Literally what an awful experience.. my friends and I arrived there last night, and where greeted by a very rude, pushy waitress. She sat us down at our tables and about 20 minutes later, she came to the table and goes "what are we drinking" very rude like, and she slammed the order pad on the table.. when we finally ordered, the food came out almost an hour later.. the wings were soggy and the only sauce on the "hot" wings was clearly just franks red hot.. the calamari was just thick with breading. We were never asked if we needed anything, if our drinks needed to be refilled, nothing. The waitress was yelling at the other server there that night, it was just overall and uncomfortable, un eatable, experience that we will not be going back too.. read more

My wife and I have eaten here a few times a year for decades. The food is usually above average and the staff are friendly. The prices are middle of the road. Not much for decent Italian food in Plattsburgh, but these guys do it better than most. We usually get pasta, subs or calzones. Haven't tried their pizza in a while. As I remember, it is OK, but not great. Today we had a calamari appetizer, salads, chicken Parmesan, and linguine with white clam sauce. The calamari was breaded instead of battered the way most places do it. I prefer a light, crispy batter, but this was tasty and tender. The garden salads that come with the meal are larger than many restaurant's side salads. Just your basic lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions and croutons with dressing on the side. The chicken parm portion was large and tasty. Their chunky marinara that comes with it is pretty basic tomato with garlic and basil. I prefer it to the overly seasoned sauce that some places do. The white clam sauce has a huge amount of chopped clams in a garlicky broth seasoned with basil and parsley. It's one of my favorite dishes that they do. If you are looking for this type of food, give them a try. Occasionally they have an off day, but I have rarely had anything that wasn't up to par. read more

I have been very open to Mickey's since I moved here. It used to be right across the street from where I used to live, so I wanted to like it SO much. The first time I went there, which was about 3 years ago now, my husband and I went in and were sat down. Then we waited for someone to take our drink order. We waited, and waited, then tried to get a girls attention. She then got us drinks after 20 minutes of waiting and told us a server would be right with us. Then we waited again... for 45 minutes! We got so fed up we just left. I don't even think they noticed. Then the restaurant had a fire. I felt like maybe after having to rebuild and everything, maybe things would be different, so I went back with a friend. The new place looks much better, but as before there are a lot of tables shoved together in a little room. My friend and I literally sat in the very back corner, which I had to litterally shove myself into because everything was so close together. Then, because my friend and I spent so much time catching up, I didn't realize till the end of the meal that we had waited for someone to get our drinks orders, just like before. The best of all for me is I was almost ignored completely because the person I was with happen to be well known in Plattsburgh. I love being ignored, it makes you feel so important... So finally last night I decided to give Mickey's one more try. I had seen a pizza that looked amazing when I was there and wanted to order one, to see if it would taste as good as it looked. So I called to order the pizza... the woman I talked to on the phone was RUDE. I mean so much so that I almost just cancelled the order, but I wanted to believe that the pizza would be so good it would make up for the older woman's attitude. I asked he to decribe the pizza, like if it was housemade sauce, or what kind of cheese they used. Her response was "Its has sauce and cheese, its a pizza." Great way to promote the product... Went last night because their specials on FB sounded good. Hadn't been in a while because our last experience wasn't good...shoved in a corner booth when there were other tables obviously available. Service was fast and excellent...servers were right on top of things. Our meals were so-so. the ahi tuna was over cooked and dry, and my steak/potatoes/vegetables entirely lacked salt. Probably if we had stuck to their Italian entrees or pizza we would have done better. One good thing...my White Russian was HUGE and delicious. Garlic bread was awful. On top of this, we seemed to be in the middle of old home day in the dining room..two women were literally standing on top of me and bumping into my head while they talked so loudly we couldn't hear each other talk. Mickey's ... it's been around for years. I believe somewhere close to 1952? My parents used to take us here on "special occasions". I remember meeting Mickey, the original owner when I was a child. He's gone now but his tradition is still carried on. The meals are very good. The bar is fantastic! True, it's a local bar, which is great considering the people of Plattsburgh are great as well. I went here for dinner with my work partner. We had a very relaxing meal and the service was excellent. We were given warm bread which we really needed as were were very hungry however, it was only so so. I only wanted a small amount of pasta and the server kindly ordered a childs size meal for me. I also ordered a hot water with lemon and it came out in a really nice extra large mug-perfect. The food was just right and came out as I ordered it with the marinara on the side... can only have a little sauce due to reflux. : ( It was very good. Then food quality is so much better at night. During the day they skimp on portions and seasonings. Not really sure why. Day food is awful. Night food is good. That aside, after 5 pm the nachos, the wings, the pizza, the entrees etc are so much better. However, there's a trade-off for the better food. The night bartenders, which I hear are one of the owners and a long time employee, are the most unfriendly bartenders I've ever encountered. They always look pissed off, they're always yelling at either customers, the kitchen or restaurant servers for something or another. Makes it a bit uncomfortable to enjoy oneself while there.
