    Dangerous sharp edge

This would be a 1 star review if it wasn't for the good breakfast everyday and the 3 employees who were friendly and accommodating. This hotel has a large turnover of service staff apparently since I only saw 2 housekeepers who were the same. The management is all interim and they have gone from daily room refresh to every few days only they don't inform you of this upon check in. Instead when I pointed out at 5pm the afternoon of my 1st day that my bed was left I made and garbage hadn't been taken, I was very curtly told "yeah because you just got here." I had to tell them every morning to service my room and still some days I would return to an unmade bed and trash in the can. They also have corned protectors on the walls in the vanity area that only go up the 1st 4 1/2 feet of the wall. I struck my hand on the sharp top edge of this piece of plastic and when I brought the issue and my injury to the notice of the girl at the desk she rudely said "I don't know what you want me to do about it, this has never been a problem before". Never have I been so poorly treated at a national hotel chain. The only 3 employees who stood out as exceptional were Jess, Giovanna & Carrie. The 2 absolutely rudest employees are Kiah & Edna. Upon my checking out I came to the desk and over heard the latter 2 gals laughing about the incident report I filed and doing so in an open space where other guests could also hear. Extremely unprofessional. I waited to let kiah know I had heard her (she is the one who was rude when I reported the injury) she blew me off saying she was sorry I thought it was rude for her to speak about the incident in ear shot of others and she should consider the aesthetics of the company she represents. Bottom line, don't stay here. There are many hotels in a stones throw that have better service. If you do stay here, say hi to Anna, Jess's very sweet daughter who comes to work with her.

In 2004, the Strand Center for the Arts (formerly the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts) purchased the Theatre and has since undertaken initiatives to restore the Theatre to its former glory." It's one of the BEST places to spend your weekends, watching theatre plays and even a safe space to learn and create masterpieces! This venue is home for the arts of Plattsburgh- we have seen Rocky Horror Picture show during Halloweekend, Cabaret play last week, Journey and Tusk, and Pink Floyd bands play, and Todd Berry, the comedian also performed here this year alone. There are also great refreshments, snacks, beer, wine at the concession stand in between shows. If you also enjoy working with your hands you can take classes for 3D resin earring making, wood carving, sculpting, painting classes. One of my best friends in town, Winosha teaches students young and old how to paint. Many of the actors also teach classes and have graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh. You will also see many of the actors at the YMCA, like Justin the CEO also playing the lead in Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is a beautiful community theatre that accepts everyone and we hope more people get involved for many years to come!

When researching and contacting venues, they were not only the only venue to reach back out same day, but also the only one that actually seemed interested in helping me achieve my dream wedding. Steph was available by text or call literally any time of day or night for random wedding questions, planning, or inspiration. She was always open and interested in what I had to suggest and was nothing but positive and encouraging every time. Some of the things that Steph did for us that made this process SO much smoother were cocktail tastings, decor trials, and she even put together all of the reception florals that I bought in bulk! She always had an answer to my questions and if she didn't, she would find out without worry. As for the day of the wedding, Steph and the Rustic Pines team had the ceremony and reception space completely set up and decorated for us without us having to lift a finger. I was welcomed into the bridal suite with a gift, a good playlist, and mimosas ready to drink! Steph was available all morning to grab us anything we needed and even made us coffee. She welcomed and coordinated with our vendors to ensure they were set up in the proper areas and that they were ready to go. The ceremony and reception coordination went very well and was completely handled by the Rustic Pines team. Other things to note: the lawn was IMMACULATE and the entire venue makes for beautiful photos. The gravel driveway was of no concern for our guests and the rustic pines team had a golf cart for any guests who would be in need of assistance getting to the ceremony space. They were extremely accommodating to anything I may have needed and I would choose Rustic Pines over and over again!

I stayed in a 3rd floor suite on June 8-11, 2025 shortly after a major renovation of all the rooms…read more I have stayed in suites in this Microtel many times previously and been very satisfied. This time it was very unsatisfactory due to changes made during the renovation. I've never seen a renovation where the rooms were made WORSE. They had removed the coffee table, a small rectangular table with two chairs where I used to eat my dinner and conduct business, and also the end table next to the couch so there was nowhere to put my purse, backpack, books, etc. They had also removed the closet area and replaced it with a few "knobs" with hangers. They had also removed a long shelf in the bathroom where I used to put my toiletries, now forcing me to leave them at the side of the sink or on the floor. Also removed any towel rods in the bathroom, again replacing them with colored "knobs" that look like something out of an IKEA showroom. I inquired at the desk if the removal of the furniture was permanent, if the table and chairs and coffee table would be put back. The clerk was not sure and said there was some furniture "on order" that had not arrived yet. She said "we don't like it either" referring to the removal of so many features from the rooms. I will not be staying in this property again unless there is furniture in the room! There is no place to sit and eat and nowhere to put many of my belongings.

Front desk check in was easy and friendly enough. Elevator was quick, clean and bright. Hallway signs to Rooms were marked perfectly!! Hotel hallway very clean and quiet. Rooms are large, beds firm, furnished great. Only missing a coffee maker, it has refrigerator and microwave. Nice desk, lots of drawers and storage. Plenty of comfortable pillows. Heat and ac work great. Bathroom was nice, good size tub. Plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap. Good lighting throughout the room. Continental breakfast is good. Lots of choices. Coffee maker was great, needs a larger cup (my complaint). Morning front desk staff, very very pleasant and full of info. Will stay here again!
