We did not mind this hotel. To be honest Vermont was super packed and booked so came to Plattsburgh to shop and chill out. Hotel is your typical in and out. We got a 2 double bed room. They did not come to clean the room or refill toilette paper. Towels were super small but it gets the job done. The people in the hotel were friendly which is nice Hot tub was a fun extra we used it for about 30 minutes and brought some drinks to unwind and had no issues. We would come back for sure read more

If I could give this place coal instead of that one star up there, I would!  Disclaimer: any interaction between the manager and the woman at the front desk and the woman who is head of housekeeping was recorded. We have copies of the email where the offer is stated. Everything is dated as well! Imagine being offered a free night's stay after the woman at the front desk was rude and racist only to have the property manager turn around and reverse the offer UNLESS WE GO ONLINE AND REVISE A BAD REVIEW THAT WE LEFT.  We were blamed for a marijuana smell that permeated the hallways and you can actually see reviews mentioning that. How did a marijuana smell permeate the hallways before we even got there but somehow were supposed to take the blame for it.  Kevin, the manager tried to say we made the review after we were offered the free stay and we did NOT. WE HAVE PROOF OF THIS. So imagine, his panties are all in a bunch because we told the truth and you're mad because it was blunt and honest and you want to reprimand us for that. No, Kevin. The truth still remains for the actions taken towards us.  We got an email from the manager the day prior to meeting with Kevin at the front desk from a manager named Shannon. She apologized that the staff treated us bad and she offered us a free night's stay. The email was sent in the morning.  SO, THE NEXT DAY when we tried to use the offer the front desk changed their mind and tried to extort my Fiance and I. No one knocked on the door or approached us or called us all day between the email and the next day when we were getting ready to extend our stay. If there was an issue why is it that no one came to us after Shannon offered us an apology and a free night's stay? We were offered that in the morning of the 14th. Why didn't anyone knock on the door or say something if the offer wasn't on the table anymore?? We should have known before the next day when we approached them if that was the case. This isn't about not getting a free room because we paid for our time there and all, this is about how we were offered something to clean up their mistakes and bad rude behavior and then somehow we are extorted like this? Kevin, the manager, told my Fiance he didn't want to " do business" with him unless the post was revised. Seems like he was super angry that we exposed how racist his staff can be on a public level and he was trying to clean it up.  My Fiance went downstairs to talk to him after I was downstairs waiting and he took a whole ten minutes laughing and joking with others and not addressing him, even though he knows he was there to tackle an issue that they created. I have video of that too, where I told him I'd send my Fiance downstairs. That's where the screenshot of him came from, btw.  Just know that it is PLATTSBURGH. Word of mouth goes far here and telling others about our experience has gotten us so many comments in real life from people who co sign and say yes, the staff has been rude and racist to many. I can't speak for everyone, just our experience. We were told we couldn't stay because of certain things that they couldn't even identify. How do you say we left damages in the room but somehow you are unable to identify what they are!! I had a conversation with the long haired older woman at the front desk and she wouldn't specify but was certain and sure that we couldn't stay there due to these issues. How do you say there are issues and you can't identify them? Because you're lying! She saw how frustrating it was that she wouldn't say specifically the issues that they were trying to pin on us and told me that she felt like I should go back to my room. How do you tell another adult to "go to their room" because YOU won't be specific about something that you are being asked? I didn't ask for her SSN, I didn't ask her for her family's greatest recipe, I asked for her to tell me what we did and she couldn't! It doesn't make sense at all!! The person who stood there while I addressed this nasty woman at the front desk was apparently head of housekeeping. They want $25 to check in 1 hour early when the room is already ready. Never ever in all my life have I encountered this!!!! Ridiculous!

Our group of 5 booked two rooms and upon check-in there were issues with our rooms not being ready, or having the wrong reservations. The hotel made a mistake and overbooked the king suites, so we were given a third room on the house instead of having to share 2 rooms amongst 5 people. They initially wanted us all to have double beds but we managed to get king beds after a lot of convincing. Lots of time wasted waiting around for things to be ready. Beware during covid times, there are severely understaffed so there aren't enough housekeepers. This unfortunately can affect check in time. Luckily there is an indoor pool and hot tub you can at least relax and kill time there. Some of our friends stayed on the first floor and this is the noisiest/busiest area - Seems like the rooms also get basic ammenities compared to the nicer king room on the top floors. I noticed our friend got 1 bottle of very basic no name shampoo and soap, versus my room on the 4th floor had several bottles of Paul Mitchell branded shampoo and conditionner. Our room was ideally located, clean, no issues other than the king bed we were in was sagging and crooked - the mattress dips and is far too soft, these need to be upgraded as it was very uncomfortable to sleep in. Bathroom is very small, just the tub and toilet - the sink is on its own just outside and has a large counter. Breakfast was decent, there are hot eggs and sausages, selection of bagels, muffins, cereals, waffles, yogourt, juice, milk and coffee. Seems standard compared to other similar chains I've been in. Great to grab and go or you can sit and eat buffet style. For price and convenience, can't really complain too much but I know Plattsburgh has a bunch of other similar hotels so I would definitely try something else next time in hopes of getting a better all around experience. read more

Our stay here was 09/27/23 to 10/01/23. This is has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. We had several choices for hotels and since we've stayed here before, we chose LaQuinta again. NEVER AGAIN. Dirty, we stayed four nights and not once was our room serviced. After 3 nights we stopped at the front desk in the morning before leaving for the day, and asked for our room to be cleaned with fresh towels. We arrived back later that evening around 10:30pm, our room wasn't touched. And, the second night, we arrived back to the hotel and everyone had been evacuated due to dead batteries in the hotel's carbon monoxide detectors, there were two fire trucks and a couple ambulances, but we had to sit outside for an hour. We understand the safety of it, but why we're t these defectors checked on a regular basis. One other thing, on our 2nd and 3rd morning we were woken up to the room above us, from a child stomping and running around in the room, the first morning, we called the front desk to inform them of that room, the front desk person said she would call the room, that was a 8:15am, then called again a 9:45am, and she said she would go up to the room. It stopped for about 5 minutes and then continued. We then left the hotel about 10:45am and stopped at the front desk and told her, and she just shook her head. This is the same girl that told us that she would make note that our room would be cleaned. CThis hotel is totally disgusting. Again, never again will we stay here or recommend it to any one. read more

This property has so many problems 1. The phones were not properly working in room, preventing any communication with the desk unless physically going down. (The GM, Kevin, said they are changing systems) I've never been to a hotel without proper phones, 2. The outside is under construction, the inside elevator is in the worst condition, you feel like you're going to fall. 3. The heat is not working at the this hotel, we were arrived to a room with blasting heat and the window open, after closing the window and turning off the heat the heat wouldn't turn back on, there's no one to help, they moved us to another room and that rooms heat took 3 to even start working. 4. The staff and GM are awful. If you're looking for a cheap hotel this is not it. 5. Rooms were filthy and had dead bugs in corners. This hotel should not be running. read more

I usually don't like LaQuintas because of their usual pood customer service but my experience with that one was very different. When we checked in, it was no problem at one. Customer Service: Was great. Everybody was so nice. I accidentaly spill my juice and the lady was so nice when she was cleaning it for me. Breakfast: My favorite part!!!!! I think breakfast was really goood. The waffles are really good. Our waffle of the day was blueberry and it was so so good. Rooms: Our rooms were pretty clean. Don't stay here!! This was by far the most disgusting hotel I've ever been to. There is mold everywhere and the entire place smells awful. The carpet in our room was sticky and stained with..... I don't even want to know! I wore shoes the entire time to not have to touch the carpet. I couldn't figure out what smelled so awful in the shower room but it was mold and mildew on the shower curtain and all around the shower bar. We stayed here 6 years ago and it was fantastic....clean and well taken care of: We tried it again.....staying 4 nights while visiting family and friends and didn't have housekeeping stop by at all. We were told they were short staffed but would come by the next day, but that didn't happen. We went down to the front desk nightly to dump our trash, for new towels, wash cloths and any other needs. The bed wasn't awful but the bedding was not clean and the pillows smelled nasty! The elevator/utility room has a sign on the door informing Staff and others to not shut the door of that room or the elevator will overheat and stop running. Which was good because it made me use the stairs!! But scary for those that can't use stairs! The owner gets county money for housing homeless people, which didn't bother us but there were many people posted up outside smoking cigs, weed and drinking at all hours of the day and night. The hallways reeked of weed. The staff was kind and friendly. The guy overseeing the breakfast food...I believe he's also the concierge, maintenance man, transporter; he was very kind!! If I could give 0 stars I would. When you walk into the lobby it smelled like boiled eggs. The rooms are in need of serious renovations. They are run down. My room smelled like wet mop. I stayed there because the room I was originally given smelled like cigarettes, was dirty and the dresser drawers wouldn't stay closed. When I called front desk to complain about this I was told I got the ghost room. I was moved to a room on the first floor where the key card wouldn't work. I had to keep going to the front desk to get new cards every time I exited the room. The exterior is being renovated which is not a big deal. For the amount I paid for one night I would've wanted something better. I won't ever stay here again. read more

Room has not been serviced in any way for two days even though I told the front desk. Free breakfast ran out of about 1/4 of the advertised items. Had to find and plunge the toilet ourselves. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel but I thought some things could be better. My family booked two rooms and one room had issues with the TV and was missing a chair and my room had an issue with the thermostat. My breakfast experience was excellent as the breakfast manager (Michael) had one of the best stocked buffets I have ever seen. He even offered to go pick up anything we needed. I'm a Hilton snob, but I survived my stay at La Quinta! I don't even mean that in a bad way. This was a nice place in a convenient location in regards to the SUNY school and downtown dining (at least I *think* it's considered their downtown...lots of bars and restaurants). Also near chain restaurants. The sofa bed was shockingly comfortable. That was bizarre to me. I can't believe I slept so well on it. Loved the sink being located outside of the bathroom. Very large counter. Frig and microwave. Great hotel for the price. Thrilled with how clean and good looking it was. But breakfast....breakfast was awful. Blegh, yuck, blah. No hot food such as eggs, bacon, etc. Just cereal, fruit, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs. All of which were fresh and good...just...boring. read more

The hotel location is perfect just off the highway; it's an easy on/off for travelers coming or going to Canada. It is an hour drive to Montreal so leaving early in the morning affords you a full day of sightseeing in the city. There are a number of good restaurants in close proximity to La Quinta as well as shopping and of course a Walmart for last minute items you may need before crossing the border. If you do leave early you can catch a quick continental breakfast in La Quinta cafe. read more

I stop at this La Quinta location on my way to Quebec City and coming back sometimes. Overall it is good representation of your basic La Quinta. Both times my room was upgraded but not without having to ask. Many locations automatically upgrade elite members if rooms are available. The area for walking pets is small and bag stations are not provided so you need to bring your own. Breakfast is minimal. Also on my way up when I entered the room the toilet had not been flushed and was pretty gross. Otherwise the room was clean. Other than that both rooms were comfortable and the air conditioners worked well. Nice location right off 87, and it is only about a five or ten minute drive to the better restaurants in the town. Staff at front desk was very friendly and helpful. And they came out to welcome Morris which he always enjoys. I remember stopping here last year on the way up to Quebec City while the great Plattsburgh escape was underway and seeing a big piece of concrete on top of a manhole cover at the rear of the building. It was still there. No one is popping out of that manhole. read more

Typical of a La Quinta Inn experience for me; comfortable and reliable. Not fancy, but not a dive by any means. PROS: Right off the highway (the ramps are basically across the street) Fast food, restaurants (local and chain), gas and shopping centers aplenty (including a 24 hour McDonald's down the road). Agree that if it's nice weather, you could easily walk to some of these establishments. ROOM: easy to adjust temperature, clean, lots of towels, good shower flow, comfortable bed & pillows. Wifi actually worked pretty well (sometimes at hotels it's worse than dial-up). A room down the hall (about 5 or 6 rooms away) had their door open while they drank beer, talked and watched TV when I walked by. But since I couldn't hear them once in my room, I didn't feel the need to make a complaint. I see on here that someone had a fridge and a microwave, but I didn't. So call ahead if that's an important feature to you. HOTEL: Easy check-in, indoor pool, lots of parking. Seemed pretty safe. On a busy main road. Pet friendly. CONS: Nothing really important that I would consider a dealbreaker or worth a warning. Lobby reeked of cigarette smoke when I checked in, but the smell was gone by the next day. A couple TV stations didn't come in for some reason. But there were lots of other channels to choose from (including Showtime), so it wasn't worth complaining to the front desk about. Plus I was able to hook up my personal DVD player to watch my own movies anyway :) I would definitely stay here again. read more

Booked the hotel while I was in town visiting my son in college. I asked for a non smoking room. It was very obvious that people had been smoking in the room. There were cigarettes burns on the bath tub ledge. I asked for a new room but they had none. I have COPD and have been sick with Bronchitis since my visit. Very disappointed in this hotel. read more

We stayed here this past weekend while visiting SUNY Plattsburgh.Only a mile or so from the school and right off I-87. When nice it's within walking distance to many stores and restaurants. Their rates were the best in the area and that was the selling point for me. The beds were comfortable, even the sofa bed, and our room came equipped with a microwave and a refrigerator for taking unfinished meals back to the room and snacking later. And last, but certainly not least, the hotel staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful offering us restaurant advice and taking the time to write out the directions to recommended locations, (our Tom Tom was taking a mental vacation). I've already made reservations again for August when we drop junior off at school. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars was for the icy condition of the parking lot, which I almost fell on a couple of times. Really deserves zero stars but not possible. Should be taken off the Wyndham association. Is dirty. Black mold in our bathroom. Ceiling fan in main room was so dirty from dust it was caked on. The ceiling was dirty where the fan spun leaving dust or dirt in a half circle. Toilet had not been brushed out so had brown stain and scum in the bottom of the bowl. Parts of the ceiling and wall paint at top of the tub were all peeling off. Small pull/tear in carpet near the window. Upon entrance to the hotel a window screen was bent and hanging off the window. Cigarette butts were scattered on the ground on both sides of the entrance and there were receptacles there. Another time we stayed there the pillow case and sheet near pillows had black stain like mascara. Sheets had not been changed. Found maid who promptly came in and changed the sheets. One of the best places to stay in Plattsburgh. Beds are so comfortable, it's like sleeping on clouds.

Very reasonably priced, convenient location, clean, pleasant staff, and very pet friendly. The breakfast area is a bit small - the food is good and plentiful. This was my second stay here, first time traveling with my senior cat, and I would definitely stay here again. One caveat - make sure to ask for a non-smoking room. My room was on the third floor and was fine, but I could definitely smell residual cigarette smoke in the lobby and elevator. More of a trace than a pervasive odor, but it was definitely there - I think it's an older property and it's tough to completely get the smell out. Having said that, my room was VERY clean and I couldn't smell cigarette smoke at all on the 3rd floor where I was located. read more

Stayed here for one night. Everything was nice and clean in the room. The hotel overall is pretty accessible with ample parking. The rooms were large and the HVAC system worked perfectly. I had a very disappointing experience with the La Quinta Inn & Suites Plattsburgh this past weekend, August 10, 2013. On July 16th, 2013 I had reserved a room for myself and my husband, who were traveling from out of state to visit friends in Plattsburgh. We arrived into town in the late evening, and when we went to check-in at La Quinta, they told us they "had bad news" and our room wasn't going to be available. I was floored by this, since there was never any attempt to contact us to make sure we were coming, etc. They just sold our room and said nothing, hoping we wouldn't show up to check-in, I assume. I asked the man at the front desk what he expected us to do, and he said he had called around to the other hotels in town and they were all booked and suggested we try to find lodging at Burlington. Not only was his suggestion ridiculous (if you are familiar with the area, you know that Burlington is an expensive 30-minute ferry ride away) but he never would fully explain to us what happened and why our room that we'd reserved almost a month prior had been sold without notice to us, even though it was held with my credit card and a confirmation was sent on July 16th. We were essentially kicked out on the street to find a couch to crash on by this hotel, and I would never attempt to stay there again and have warned all of my friends of this terrible experience. read more
