Looking for a linch on the interstate that isn't fast food we stopped at the Pleasant Corned restaurant. It was packed when we entered. We got a table and we had a very pleasant waitress take our order. I got a BLT and it was ok but the toasted bread was burned. Lots of bacon though and it came with chips. My husband got a grilled chicken sandwich.... Just ok. But everyone was nice and it was better than fast food. read more

Stopped in here for a late lunch before hitting the Northway after visiting Auasble Chasm. Service was friendly and attentive. The BBQ menu is limited to three items: ribs, half a chicken and pulled pork sandwiches. I had the pulled pork sandwich on their homemade bread and my better half had the jumbo chicken wings. My pulled pork was very tasty, and those jumbo wings were indeed jumbo. Would stop here again if in the area. read more

Don't expect fancy or complicated and you'll be fine. We have a cabin around the corner and we will be eating here more often when we don't feel like cooking. Super simple old- school interior, filled with older locals just chatting with each other and the staff. It made me smile. I got fried perch plate that came with fries and slaw. The perch was some sort of blended mix instead of pieces of fried fish and the texture was very odd to me. I would have preferred real whole pieces of food. The slaw is fine. The fries are handcut and dark. Not my fave but J loved them J got a turkey dinner plate that he loved. The turkey, stuffing and green beans were quintessential comfort food. We got the apple crisp for dessert. It's more 'crisp' than apple and while the flavor it good, I expected it to be warm, not stone cold and the topping was more like oatmeal than crisp. OK so really it wasn't all that great but I would definitely go back and try something else. read more

Incredible. Paid $20 (with a 25% tip) for a Reuben, a Michigan, mac salad and some chips. Like the waitress so aptly put it, you're not finding that for 16 bucks anywhere else. And it was great! My 2 sisters and I decided to stop here yesterday for breakfast around 10:00am. Only one table of four when we entered so we sat where we liked. Waitress came over took our coffee/tea order and we each ordered bkfst of choice. She clearly forgot about us as a FedEx driver came in and eat at the counter as an older couple sat down at a corner table. I finally went up as reminded waitress about our coffee which she finally brought. Then a family of 4 and another couple came in, sat down and ordered. Within a few minutes EVERY single person in that diner got their food NOT US!!! So after seeing the surprised look on our face ( I guess that's what brought the waitress back to our table FINALLY!!!) the waitress came back and proceeded to tell us the cook " accidentally " threw our orders in the trash and she has been trying to remember what we ordered... then apparently they found our ticked some half hour later... said "your food will be right out" and it had already been 45+ minutes. Just went there late this morning had breakfast and sat at a table where another table was connected and it was dirty the chairs were disgusting had food on it the floors are nasty like they haven't been cleaned in several several months the bread was cold the home fries were not cooked all the way they were kind of hard the bacon was good although they forgot it in my first order so they had to go back and get me some more bacon I love the people but I won't be back because I can't stand to eat in filth read more

Me and 3 of my buddies traveled through from Tennessee. The waitresses were very kind and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The food was very good, the prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous. Highly recommend stopping in for coffee and biscuits and gravy. read more

OK, let's be honest folks, this is not a 4 or 5 star eatery despite what the reviews say. If your looking for a quick bite to eat off the interstate with an extremely casual atmosphere, then this roadside cafe fits the bill. A cute little case .3 miles off of route 87, we were greeted by an old couple as we walked in the door, and told we could grab any seat by two local yolkals. I ordered buffalo chicken strips and a salad and my wife a chicken wrap. The food came out very quickly. My chicken strips were small and seemed processed, but everything else was fine. A local atmosphere and probably good for bringing kids. We were back on the road in about 30 min max. Maybe not a date night destination, but just fine if your not in the mood to be fussy. read more

Sure, the coffee was diner-standard, and it would be nice if they had real maple syrup, but the food and service was great. Been here twice already and the service is very friendly and the food is like a home cooked meal. Big portions too. The meat loaf is really delicious and the turkey club is too. This is the most podunk little back-country diner you could possibly imagine, with food to match. If you want chicken fingers, fried eggs, or ground beef in any form, you can get it here and it'll probably be pretty good, but if you want anything else you're S.O.L. I also hope they up their french fry game, as they are soggy and tasteless. read more

We had breakfast here this morning. The building and decor are dated, but well maintained. There is plenty of parking and it is very close to I87. We got a friendly greeting and were told to sit wherever we liked. The waitress was cheerful and took our orders after answering a few questions. I ordered homemade sausage gravy over biscuits with home fries and two eggs over easy. My wife had bacon, eggs, toast and home fries. We got our drinks and very shortly got our food. Everything is great up to this point. Everything looks good. I tasted the sausage gravy. It tasted like nothing. There was no sausage flavor. Even worse, there was no salt or pepper flavor either. There were about 4 small (1/2") chunks of sausage that must have been added after making the gravy. Also the gravy was made with water, not milk. The home fries and eggs were cooked properly, but once again, no salt or pepper. The biscuits were pretty standard. Not bad, but not homemade. The cook should have used canned sausage gravy. As bad as that is, it would have been 10x better than their homemade. Other than the lack of seasoning, my wife's meal was good except for the toast. It also was supposed to be homemade, but she said it did not have the yeast flavor you typically get from homemade bread. Niether of us typically add salt to a restaurant meal. Most restaurants add more than enough during cooking. At home we add the proper amount during cooking, because adding it afterwards is never the same. If you go, keep it simple. Avoid anything that would require the cook to season it properly during cooking. Prices are not bad and you can get an acceptable basic breakfast. Up to this point, the diner is 3 stars. Where they dropped to 2 is their use of the bathrooms as storage for food supplies and sodas. Even though the bathrooms were clean, I am sure it is a health code violation to store cases of soda in the men's room and boxes of other supplies in the women's room. This place might have been around for a long time, but with poor sanitary practices like the soda storage and tasteless food, they might be on their way out. read more

This is right off of Route 87 at exit 34. If you stop in, you'll find, even in the middle of tourist season (summer and skiing) that the breakfast and lunch patrons are as likely to be locals as tourists. The staff is personable, very much so. When I'm in the area I usually have breakfast - the "egg-a-muffin" is great.
